I was looking at the CrazyDevy upgrade swords, namely CDMW-14, and saw 3 variants. 14 is the sword in a matching gold, 14K a chromed out version, and 14X a version designed for Feral Rex. 14 amd 14K are for the G1 toy and only have the 5mm plug, but the 14X looks like itcomes with the handle from the fist upgrade. My round-about guess is that they're somewhere in the deluxe to "deluxe-plus" range. Regardless, Kickback is still probably my favorite, though they all seem to be highly detailed. Shame that aesthetically Colossus is still the best looking Bruticus around.
>>
>>6894505
I had always had this back-of-my-mind hope that FP would finish the set off in full, or at least to have done Vortex. Brawl is perfectly serviceable as a leg as he is, and Onslaught isn't all so bad being a torso. Or perhaps that Maketoys took up the task to scale him well with their own MTC line (Colossus definitely looks wimpy standing next to Giant and Quantron). But regardless of aesthetics, he certainly hasn't aged all too gracefully. Blast Off doesn't gives me noncooperation from time to time with how the hand pegs in, and the hands themselves are a finicky pair.

I'll be interested in how much head-to-head Bip Bop Bobbo does for Zeta and UT (considering that the each started at opposite ends). I would like to go for one of the two, as Warbatron (regular or OS version) doesn't appeal to me.

Not sure if you feel qualified to answer, but if you had to make a choice between, say, him and Galaxy Meteor (similar enough in price), who would be your choice?
>>
>>6895108
From what I've seen. Primal's plastic apparently feels a bit thinner than what most are used to with 3P. Take that into account along with what kind of toy you want. Do you want a Primal or Cybertron Starscream more? I personally lean towards Galaxy Meteor, but I already own that toy so I'm biased in that regard.

I was watching Ben's video, and the plastic issue was one thing he brought up at the start. Definitely something to consider for sure, but not sure I can see it as a deal breaker altogether. As for the type of figure, I have neither any type of BW (and in addition am now eyeing on MP-32 as a possibility), nor any Starscream. So it would be a first for either, as well as being a different type of variant of either.

Honestly? I got them both side by side right now. I think I kinda wish Galaxy Screamer had finish of GT's Gorilla, and that's something I'd never thought I'd say about a GT product. To tap into my inner bobo skelly, Gorilla looks like a $20 upgrade in terms of paint and detailing. Like PE's Beast Gorrira, he just pops on his own minus the awful decision to not paint the eyes. I think Galaxy is great, but he has some niggles that frustrate me. Ratchets are too strong in the arms, wrists get cockblocked by the arm guards, accessories are lackluster, etc. These hold him back when he's otherwise dynamic and built like a tank.

In comparison, Gorilla joints are on point and the alt mode is a lot of fun if you can dig the look. That said, he's not perfect with the limited ankles and thigh swivels, and as people keep mentioning he does have a different plastic feel than anything GT has done before. He's heavy thanks to the diecast in the feet, but overall the plastic is both lighter and thinner in some areas. I don't think it's necessarily bad mind you, but it isn't the the same sort of feel you get from the brickhouse that was their Prime and Motormaster. It's a really hard thing to describe. If I had to compare it, some of the thinner plastic that peg on to the thigh area area feels more like Fansproject's Headmasters or their earlier Bruticus upgrade set. IE: Model kit plastic. Still he's left a much better impression than anything I've got from GT. If he had to throw down with something in his exact price range like Maketoy's Thunder Manus, I think he wins out.

I don't think I've had him long enough to give a verdict and avoid NEW TOY syndrome. I don't think you can go wrong with either though.
>>
>>6895173
main thing driving me from gorilla was the waist. add in to that a thinner plastic? I feel its just a matter of time til you get transmetal megatron'd

I really don't understand this mentality, if you really love your husband/wife you understand that there will be things they like that you don't and that if they're not hurting themselves or anyone else and they can still pay their fair share of the bills, there shouldn't be a problem. You don't marry someone and tell them they can't do this thing they love anymore just because you don't like it. I'm a femanon and collect 3rd party and my boyfriend is fine with it because he collects Figuarts, everyone has their own "thing" that makes them happy and neither party should have to feel like they can't have a hobby,

Some women have this really selfish mindset where they refuse to acknowledge other people's hobbies and interests as important to them, and consider them disposable parts of their personality if they don't agree with them. The guy's fiancee is marrying him despite her dislike of his hobby under the assumption that she'll get him to quit for her. I guarantee you that anytime TFs come up in their home, the exact thoughts "this is gonna stop after we get married" run through her head.

Relationships like those go either one of two ways, where the guy gets pussywhipped into abandoning his passions to appease his wife and living the rest of his life with no material fulfillment, or the girl massively overestimates her importance to him and gets her ass dumped when the guy ends up not dropping everything he loves to be with her.

To be fair though, sometimes having a SO can help someone open their eyes to bad spending habits. Like for all we know they couldn't afford something that expensive all in one go, she's not happy about the purchase and he's just being jokey about it. 300$ can be spent a LOT better than on some functionally useless plastic when you have bills to pay, work to do or are moving in together and have a house to fill. I highly doubt that's the case considering the post's wording (that guy's collection is destined to be dumped in a goodwill bin), but still.

I think the "thin plastic" issue is leveraged as a comparison to other GT releases on a whole. The thinnest area of plastic are the shoulder guards. The plastic itself just feels different than your standard GT chunky monkey. I think it was a different plastic choice because the sculpting is so sharp in comparison to other GT offerings. It's definitely lighter, which helps with joint tolerances. The diecast in the feet helps weigh him down to compensate.

I've felt that most GT releases feel somewhat sloppy. Either an element was overlooked, something doesn't really secure at a design level, various tolerances, stress marks, etc. This is the first release that I have from them with none of that. I'm suitably impressed. One touch I appreciate is that the diecast feet have a rubbery non slip piece screwed into the bottom that makes up the portion that contacts with the ground. Less chipping, and great stability. I don't care for the limited rocker range on the ankles though.

Fansproject Flameblast- shuttle repaint and remold of Explorer - technically can be part of a combiner

Unique Toys has a Blast Off - Part of a combiner

Zeta Toys has a Blast Off - Part of a combiner

Iron Factory has a mini Blast off - Part of a combiner

Toyworld Evila Star is a triple Changer that is also a train.

Unique Toys has a Astrotrain that is also a train.

For an official licensed transforming shuttle that's not transformers and actually only becomes a shuttle look at action toys Shuttle Robo. He's very similar in style to FP Explorer.

>it just makes everyone think the figure is shit.
Except the reviewers always pretty clearly state that it's a test shot and that things will likely be tweaked. As to why they send them out in the first place, it's partially to get folks (who actually pay attention to the fact that it's a test shot) more interested in the figure as well as to get feedback from the reviewers themselves on what needs to be fixed for the final production.

MMC is very hit or miss. Some of their stuff is stellar, some of it is "oh god why is it so compromised to just be 3 shitty remolds". Rarely is it middle of the road, like their Titanika / Roadbuster mold, which has articulation / range of motion issues but is still a'ight.

Unique toys, but I've always drooled over fans toys, finally gave in to cyclonus.
>>
>>6899689
Cupola, like FP Code, suffers from the same fate of "I basically have no outward hip motion," but I still really like him. The only real issue I take with him is all the specific lining up it can take to get his alt mode "just right." Also, I'm making assumptions that you ordered from MT directly, so I hope you also got his upgrade kit coming with him. There is a night and day difference in his ankles with it.

Visualizers, to me, are loads of fun. They pose really well, and the transformations aren't overly complex, but still satisfying. MP-36 being able to hold the accessory version of them is a great bonus too.

>Whats your favourite company?
By volume it's Maketoys, followed by FansProject and MMC.

>>
Did anyone here ordered Stray from PSX ? I've placed an order for it two weeks ago, but the tracking number still doesn't work.

I wanted to buy him yesterday and when I went to it says unavailable. I noticed that all the US retailers still show him as up for preorder only and that no one else who did actually get their order in like you did with PSX has received theirs yet. People who ordered them very early on received their copies so I have no idea whats going on.
Maybe there was something wrong with the first small batch sent out and theyre fixing the problem before they send out more? I know the Deadlock version is being held back too.
>>
>>6899870
If TFW is to be believed most people got them early from taobao sellers. Also weird that Beta is still available and Aero was available on PSX for at least two months. Is Drift just that much more popular? I hope not. Really wanted that cape and clear swords, so hopefully they put him back up.
>>
>>6899575
Why hasnt someone redone that mold in Thunderwing colours?
>>
>>6899377
What's wrong with MMC's Cyclonus exactly?
>>
>>6900003
That entire mold is, from what I've heard, a rickety mess that refuses to tab in. It was a shitshow from them starting the mold off with the bounty hunter fellow, then pushing out a Death's Head iteration, and finally following it up with Cyclonus.

I can't properly dump on it as I don't have it in hand, but generally any problems people could find with the first two molds were present carrying forward.
>>
>>6900003
The mold is not very good. The neck is at a weird angle, making the balljoint of the head more or less placed where the chin is. the knees are unable to be perfectly straight, the transformation isn't fun and it's a tabbing nightmare.

On the other hand, I feel like Whirl is getting a lot of bad opinions from people who doesn't own it and absolutely wanted an IDW design, because it's an excellent figure, and by far the best I've got from the reformated line. the transformation is fun and simple, while accomplishing something, and both mode are cool looking and very functionnal.

Not saying they don't have a lot on their plate (how big is the IF team anyways?), but it does prompt the question as to why the remold/redeco should take so long compared to their other stuff? We have soft release dates for most of their currently slated figures, so it just seems weird that they would push these off for so long. I'm only wondering/hoping because the ultimate commander set was so close to being an incredible legends scale figure, it was just gimped by some rather poor design choices

>>
>>6900191

>>
>>6900348
Correct. Thin plastic on a majority of the figure, re-engineered parts to make it simpler, although they added a wrist bend for some weird reason without shortening the actual wrists (makes them hang to his knees).
>>
>>6899768
>>6899689

I main Maketoys CD and Galaxy as well as Mastermade for articulation and easy transformation.

I do have a few one-offs from MMC.
>>
>>6899768
I think a toy designed from the ground up is so much better than trying to translate an existing artwork from official source material that isn't intended to transform but shapeshift.

Tranformers will never transform accurately unless they are simple formers like those in the Unicron Trilogy.

Most transformer toys are shapeshifters with the use of armatures and panels.

Once I see a toy with armatures and panels, I run away.

I'd really like it if they did new arms or an upgrade kit for Road Ceasar. My one lasting complaint with this set is that the combiner has really stumpy arms, but it is so close to being fixable it isn't even funny.

Like all you do is use the hinge that the upper arm folds out from as an elbow instead, and replace the base of the hands with something that'll let them stick out a little further and you're done. The one problem is it would need a new front panel for the forearm to work because there's really no way at all to make this work using the stock panels.

Man, I absolutely love the altmode on both versions of this guy, but there's just something off about his robot mode. I can't place it but it looks really odd.
>>
>>6903950
The XBONKHUG shoulders make the arms look stumpy. The knee spikes make the legs look stumpy.
>>
>>6903950
I'm pretty sure I know what you mean. It's the torso, actually that looks weird, not the shoulders as >>6903952 was saying, as crazy as it might be. The fact that it's white and pretty blocky makes it look weird in most shots. You should look at video reviews because I feel like seeing it in movement looks way closer to the real feel of the figure.

>>6903946
I don't have generations drift, sadly, but I can tell you it's exactly tje same size as TLK voyager megatron, making it more or less the same as most voyager out on the market right now, so maybe not what you're looking for ?

So the hulkie KO I ordered turned out to be oversized and had a bunch of pieces replaced with die-cast. After fiddling about with him and fixing what I could I've got to say he's pretty damn good for the price I payed.

Any mold changes or is it 1:1? Also what parts are diecast?

You're welcome. Also, here it is with another very VERY underated mold from MMC. This thing is probably my favourite toy from these guys. It's fun and looks good. Stray is great, but this guy ? I can't stress how much I like him. Top 5 purchase of 2017, only topped by Thunder Erebus.
>>
>>6904058
I don't know, Drift's upper body just looks so damn big compared to the rest of him, like a Superman build
>>
>>6904058
I want to like their Whirl but I cant get over the design and I don't think I ever will.
>>
>>6904060
I can see what you mean. It doesn't seem that problematic once in-hand. I would suggest trying fo see it in person maybe if a friend of yours plan on getting it ? the pictures don't do the shapes of its body justice, quite frankly.
>>
>>6904065
Why? Because it's wreckers-era Whirl and not mtmte Whirl?

I understand that point of view. I don't read comics since I'm pretty sure they're not published here, but I like good engineering and I'm not too much concerned about the source material.

This cape. It's the best. I really need to break out the lightbox and take actual good pictures when I'll have time because it's so much fun to pose around.
>>
>>6904073
It's not stormbringer Whirl...and it's not Wreckers Whirl...and it's not mtmte Whirl. It's MMC Whirl and I just kinda think it's ugly personally. I wish they had picked an actual version and done a good job of representing it, not a hodge-podge of designs; this is my exact same complaint for the Generations Whirl- either make a good G1 update or a comic one but don't try to do both cause it just doesn't work.

>>6904111

On the topic of Jinbao, how does their Bruticus fare? I have a friend that was really let down by War Giant and I'd like to get him something of a replacement for it.
>>
>>6904058
I need to find a convenient place to buy that Whirl from.

It came out while I still gave a shit about g1 and accuracy and that guy had "not muh geewun" written all over him, now I don't really give a shit and think it looks neat.
>>
>>6904464
I have him and I like him a lot. His one big fault is that his hips can't really hold up all that oversized weight, so he has a tendency to tip over a lot unless you pose him just right.
>>
>>6904111
just read the comics online on comixology or something
>>
>>6904480
Between Bruticus and Feral Rex, who would be your pick of the two?
>>
>>6902659
>Was he wet?

The arms were very slightly wet.

>Do the electronics work?

Just two lights in his arms.

>Is the joint tightness a "good tight" or "oh shit I'm stripping the gears tight"?

A good tight, but it hurt my arms. I am no expert on extremely large bots.

>>6902521

If he transforms... probably still not. No room, and unaffordable.

Aside of which, how the hell would you transform him anyway? It was a hassle with Gabriel, who isn't that complicated - but this thing is, what, two-and-a-half times taller?
>>
>>6905015
>how the hell would you transform him anyway?
Have you ever rearranged a room and had to move one of those big old CRTs that are gigantic and impossible to move alone but you can kind of lift it so you try anyway and ruin your knees and back?

Also yeah it transforms. There's a picture circulating of its enormous base mode.
>>
>>6904690
Bruticus, Feral Rex may stand better, but it has worse QC and those terrible oversized heads.
>>
>>6905026
>There's a picture circulating of its enormous base mode.

Bobby did a vid on this recently. I agree with him that all they need to do it make the city bots a head taller than Omega to make them work.
>>
What's my best shot for an Ultra Magnus?
It doesn't require to have the cab transforming into its own bot
>>
>>6905352
To be perfectly honest? CW, or the Takara version if you're able.

MP-Magnus and Citizen Stack are just... eh. CW feels much easier to deal with.

Glorious.
>>

No doubt the next step is a Unicron constructed inside a baseball stadium or something.
>>
>>6905410
Prime is the better of the pair. Solid simple transformation, light piping for days and his gun folds away in alt mode. Megatron is a bit more fiddly because of his transformation and the silencer just kind of hangs off his back but I still dig him.

Does anyone have any kind of solution for the paint chipping off of IF Dai Atlas' sword hilt? The figure is great but the paint chips are really tainting it.
>>
>>6905460
I'm not an expert but wouldn't any clear or appropriately colored protective paint do the trick? I don't know what it looks like off the top my head, but if it's just a black hilt it doesn't sound hard to touch up if need be
>>
>>6905470
True, that's a good idea. I'll look into repainting it and also probably sanding down the inside of his grippy hands.
>>
>>6905473
Also how is IF's Dia Atlas? Seems like a solid figure from what I've read. I'm looking to grab him along with Nova and Jetfire (I just want to hear a bit more about Nova before I place my order/pre-order)

Great in 'bot mode, gappy in altmode. His altmode is definitely his weakest part, and it's up there with IF's Drift in terms of "Wow, this altmode sucks".

Also if you pick him up, careful with the tread panels on his arms. They're super tight and pretty thin. You might be better off just pulling his hands off than trying to move those panels.
>>
>>6905701
>>6905745
Not that anon but he looks great in bot mode at least. Hope they'll do a Wing to go with the set.
>>
>>6905513
Same as the others said, the bot mode is great. The swappable hands give him a ton of personality, but the alt mode is totally just a "thing".
