Finally unpacked the GM Sniper Custom! An anon was asking for a comparison to the Zaku Sniper a while back, so here is a belated attempt.

Is there a reason that you can see, for why the elbow pegs are so shallow? Does it assist with swapping the damaged arm parts out or something? Good to hear you're otherwise enjoying him, though.

>I'm not sure about CD Japan.
If you preorder using a credit card, then CD Japan does not require any money up-front. Any other method though (ie Paypal), and I believe you do have to pay up-front. Just FYI, CD Japan runs a small temporary test charge when you preorder with a credit card (like 100 yen or something, it appears briefly on your card activity as a pending charge but then disappears without actually charging your card), and in my experience CD Japan would always contact me to tell me that my card had denied the charge. I'd have to call up my card servicer to allow the charge, then contact CD Japan to ask them to re-run the temporary charge.

A minor pain, but it always worked and CD Japan's customer service was always very responsive. Well worth the trouble for the times I used them to secure high demand preorders (VF-25S, VF-19 Advance etc.)

And here he is with the GM Sniper II; would be nice to get an update of the Sniper II with ANIME engineering.

I love how many weapons the Sniper Custom comes with, and I love how you can actually mount all of them onto the MS at once if you want!

>>6938735
It's got all the latest ANIME bells and whistles, the most notable (in my opinion) being the compressing chest. I really love that articulation point on ANIME RDs; on the Sniper Custom it helps a ton in allowing the MS to hold his rifle naturally.

>That's some terrible type layout on those translations.
Haha it really is, the entire localization screams rush job. The translation can be pretty funky at parts as well, "This cannon won't shoot reps!!" ...what? Also, the most common sound effects used for the sound of a moving MS are "creak" and "squeak." A lot of squeaking MS in this translation, haha.

>>6939011
>oh fuck I'd recognize that anywhere, that's the blue destiny manga. Fuck that shit was tight. The original one I mean.
Yea! Poor localization aside, I totally love the manga. Has some sweet fights with cool grunt MS. The art is lacking the fine lines and detail of many other Gundam manga (and there's huge gaps in the story), but it's got a nice sense of motion and perspective between panels that charms me.

Also, for the longest time I thought the Feddies were using GM Commands for the Hy-Gogg/Dom fight on account of the shields, but I recently realized they're actually using Cold District GMs. Makes the RD even more appealing!

Gipsey arrivign tomorrow, this guy is ok. A lot of pros, a lot of cons. For a budget line it does great.

I think the design itself is the worst part. It doesn't feel BIG it feels like a Cylon or some shit. He would fit with 1/12 in my mind

>Here's the shark.
That has far more presence on the Hygogg than I had expected, though, it make sense if they really want onlookers to have a decent chance at remembering it (for those that survive).
That's definitely larger than I was thinking for the Zeta Plus decal, to say nothing of the GM's size. I, hmm, may be inspired to do it differently now.
Also, I know that's a Gogg, but the lack of colours and hidden parts of it and the Hygogg almost make it seem like its showing itself off (if you didn't know any better that they're different suits)

Sorry I'm late to the party, but thanks for saving me a dance. Not that I doubt your ability to find them in the raws, but it was a pleasant surprise to be presented with the scenes in this manner.
>>
>>6939727
>The suits? No.
IJ was so underused in the beam-spam heavy series that it became and not like how Thunderbolt did it where the CQC became far more dynamic and intense in comparison. At least Strike managed to get its fair showing while beams were on the lower side of use.

The big thing I've heard is that it's accurate to the suit to a degree that makes poseability suffer compared to what it could be otherwise. Expect it to look really good, but don't expect to get super-dynamic poses out of it.
>>
>>6942084
Sounds like once they make a base, they can pretty easily and cheaply create all the other Stamen from that, since a lot of the parts are the same.
>>
>>6942106
That is a compelling point. Here's to hoping they think like you do.
>>
>>6942146
Hope so too. Seems like they could do the same for the pistils.
It's pretty much like a Figma SnK deal where so many parts can be reused to sell several releases. Except in the case of DiTF, the releases don't even have to come with, say, a bunch of weapons. All you can really pair with them is several different faces, maybe hairplates, hands and I suppose that cockpit base they made.

They keep hitting it out of the park with obscure/MSV designs and we'll have to get at least the main 0083 at some point. Kind of disappointing those early prototypes never went anywhere but at least if they come into fruition in the future the figures we do get will be oh so nice.

Also where do you anons go to find P-Bandai stuff? I've been out of the game for a bit. I haven't checked Mandarake yet but I've checked the usual suspects for more regular purchases. I'm looking at picking up either the Metal Spirits 00 Raiser or the EX-S. EX-S is quite a bit more expensive however atm it seems. That's what I'm hoping to find at least a small discount on. He would go nicely with the Neros I hope to collect at some point. I've seen 00 Raiser be quite affordable in comparison.
>>
>>6943034
I don't have much experience in that area but I preordered my first P-Bandai SHF from anime-export recently. Fingers crossed they'll come through.

The hips are very loose, but that's easily fixed with some nail polish or pledge. One of the two knee joints are sort of ratcheted and limit posing though, that's the bigger issue. Its awkward and they wisely did away with it on the standard zaku. But the figure is still pretty nice and I wouldn't say not to get it just because of the knees.
>>
>>6943210
>>6943234
This guy summed it up nicely. The hips are easy to work around. Nail polish, Pledge, or even just some tissue paper in the sockets fixes that issue.

The knees are awkward, but it's a minor flaw in the grand scheme of things. The rest of the figure is superb, with great accessories and features.

Huh, the hips on mine are tight and perfect. Never had to do any fixes there.

The knees are both ratcheted (not just one), but it is a relatively soft ratchet, not an unforgiving click. You'll definitely feel it snap to certain points if you move the knee quickly, but if you finesse it you can easily get the knee to stay at any angle you wish.

My only real disappointment with this figure is its relatively shallow ankle rockers. I thought this subline was going to be all about amazing articulation and engineering. Hell, they solved this problem back in 2006 with the HGUC Zaku Sniper, which has hinged pulldown ankles and the best ankle range I've ever seen on a Zaku. It blows my mind that they haven't simply used that design on every single Zaku kit and figure that came afterwards.
>>

Now, I've always liked the design down to the loadout plenty, but especially without the dynamic morphing of the animation, I think I'm liking it even more than Strelizia as a figure. Goro is also my favourite, but I feel like the sense of balance this FranXX is themed around in comparison to Strelizia's scattered and wild flavours comes through all the more on the figure. Weapons seems "better" than in the animation as well in terms of their presence.
>>
>>6943375
Qubeley is pretty nice if basic, the Zeta Gundam is stylized and very divisive as a result but I'm a fan of mine and the fact it was specifically engineered to be able to heft around the hyper mega launcher.

Nippon-Yasan has always delivered for me (and I've ordered a lot of stuff from 'em), but their customer service is notoriously unhelpful. From what multiple people have reported, if you have a problem with your items (defect, damage, etc.) then you're outta luck. NY won't do anything to help. I've fortunately never had an issue with an item from them, but the one time I contacted them regarding a site issue (I didn't get some store points I was due) they didn't do a dang thing.

I've been using MyKombini now, and they've been pretty good (VF-31A disaster aside, though that affected all retailers). MyKombini has much more reasonable shipping rates than NY, and MK only requires a 50% deposit of the item price for preorders. NY requires full payment upfront including shipping (and if NY gets their shipping estimate wrong, they'll make you pay the difference before they ship).

https://mykombini.com/

For exclusives that have already released though, Mandarake is definitely the go-to.

Ex-S is awesome, by the way. Definitely recommended! If you're in the US, Amazon has it in-stock at $175, but it could be worth keep an eye on their listing for sales or warehouse deals.

This one has the exact same problem, except it’s on the other leg. I’m honestly fucking bewildered. This does mean I actually have two complete ones now, because I can swap the pieces that are mixed up, but I can only imagine how widespread this must be in order for it to happen to me twice.

>>6946248
The issue was with the leg armor parts. The leg armor is comprised of primarily two parts, each with a distinct left/right orientation (so each leg armor should be made up of left/left or right/right parts respectively). Anon had one leg armor that had both parts in the correct orientation, but the other leg armor was a mix of right/left parts making it impossible to attach correctly.

>>
>>6947155
Yeah, I’m feeling pretty lucky that the second one had the opposite pieces, was expecting to wind up with 1 set of useless armor. Was really not expecting to have the exact same q.c. issue though, I think I’d have lost my mind if this second one had the same piece mixed up as the first, which it seems could easily have happened. All I can say is I hope nobody here ends up buying one a year from now off Mandarake for double the original retail price and gets stuck with the same problem. I think I’m gonna call it quits with the VF-1s after managing to break even here and just wait for the spartan and tomahawk.

As >>6947155 explained, I was missing one of the pieces of the armor and had two of the one that is made for opposite leg. Old picture here, the new one I bought had this problem on its right leg’s armor instead.

I have the Gundam MK-V Marking Plus version. Even though the body is essentially the original release, the details and new paint finish and darker color on this are fucking amazing. I recommened it, looks great next to the Ex-S and Nero.
>>
I love the Ex-S and i am so glad to have gotten him cheap. However I am running out of poses to lose him even when only reposing him every few weeks. For all his amazing joints the beautiful MS never really inspired imaginative poses aside from the look up with rifle or standard s Gundam-fags float rifle pose.

Inspire me please, /toy/.
>>
>>6947666
For starters, perhaps this may help: http://blog.livedoor.jp/hacchaka/archives/51993552.html

In any case, Ex-S has lots of moving parts on it, so try experimenting with finer details in the movement that really give the impression of something happening. There are also just so many weapons you can have pointed in different directions at once.
If you want to take it further, there are Bandai's series of effect parts which can surely liven up a display, especially a space-based one, provided you have the stands (yeah, spending more money, I know).

That said, I find the thought of the Ex-S weaving and shooting between rocks to be quite appealing. Other ideas that come to mind are having one side look dormant, while the other is flared up with weapons pointed, unhinged, panels slid apart, etc. Taking it from an asymmetric aesthetic to something with action, just think of it as ALICE suddenly reacting to an ambush from the side (helps if you have something to attack it) , which would be made all the more convincing in a field of floating rocks. Or another example of just using the Ex-S is to have its back-pack and other parts detached like improvised cover.

Also, got my Alex in yesterday.

I'm thoroughly pleased. Other than a few minor seams in the thighs, it's fantastic.

The tampos are perfectly clear and really stand out on the figure. The articulation is fantastic. The elbows in particular are great. I haven't had the misfortune of popping them off and potentially losing the grey cover piece yet like others have mentioned. But I'm also just being very carefuly with them to keep it from happening.

I'm a bit biased because I love the Alex. But I'm astounded by a modern figure of the design. The last Alex I owned was the MSiA, and this is such a huge improvement.

And a more dynamic shot just for fun.

I especially love the wrist gatlings on this version. There's some small but nice details in how they were handled, plus it has muzzle-flash effects which is just icing on the cake.

I fully know this is never gonna happen, but Bandai if you could just re-tool this Alex RD into a P-Bandai Gundam Mudrock I could die happy.

The Splatoon weapon I got out of a weapon replica blind box I picked up. It's random what you get, so I got lucky with the sniper rifle. Also the handle on it is pretty large, so I quickly took this pic and removed it before it stretched out my GM SC's hand.

The weapon replica sets are these; https://www.amazon.com/Bandai-Shokugan-Splatoon-Weapons-Collection/dp/B074WZF9FK

This is the full set, but if you look around you can buy 1 at a time. But like I mentioned, they're blind-boxes, so you may not get what you want unless you buy a full set. There is also another set of weapons available and yet another that is going to be released from what I've heard.

Nuu's review of the Zaku II Kai is up!

http://blog.livedoor.jp/hacchaka/archives/52025771.html

It looks kind of ridiculously awesome. My sole gripe from looking at Nuu's pics is that it appears the monoeye isn't poseable, instead you change the position with a swappable piece. I think that's due to the more pointed, oblong shape of the Kai's head though (as opposed to the standard Zaku's head which is essentially circular along the eye slit), so I can understand why Bandai went that route.

This is my only gripe. I don't mind that we just have swappble eye-plates, but they only give you 2 that have the eye ALL THE WAY to one side. It can't be that expensive to just make 2 more with the eye in-between the neutral position and the far-left/right that we get. If they would've done that I would have no complaints about the method of "moving" the mono eye.

Otherwise it does look great. And it's really hard to pass up on the gun he has, at the very least. Heh.

Alright, so. 08th MS Team doesn't have any RD's yet aside from an older release of the Gouf Custom. Here's a shot of the A.N.I.M.E. Gouf next to the older Gouf Custom.

The older Gouf Custom RD has a bunch of accessories and a "hard-point system" that lets you mount his accessories in various places on his body. Unfortunately because of this, I've heard the figure tends to be "fiddly," or falls apart easily. I never owned it, but others seemed to say it was a bit disappointing.

The A.N.I.M.E. Gouf on the other hand is a figure version of the original Gouf from Mobile Suit Gundam, hence the more cartoonish look. The figure itself is fantastic, and comes with great accessories.

Here's a photo-review for both current Gouf RDs.
A.N.I.M.E. Gouf - http://blog.livedoor.jp/hacchaka/archives/51984745.html
Gouf Custom -

Most of us here think that the A.N.I.M.E. sub-line will eventually cover 08th MS team. So if you don't mind waiting, you can probably get your favorites from that series in the future.

If you really want some RD's now, the A.N.I.M.E. figures are fantastic, so you can't really go wrong there. For the Feddie suits, I recommend any version of the RX-78 Gundam. The original colors are classic, but the Full Armor version comes with even more accessories if you like the alternate color scheme and want some extra bang for your buck (as mentioned by >>6951754
>>6951762). If you don't mind trying to hunt down the exclusive figures, GM Sniper Custom is another great figure with lots of accessories and an awesome look. For a more generic grunt, you can also pick up the standard GM.

Zeon suits are a bit easier since there's more of them. Can't really go wrong with any Zaku. Dom is fantastic, and I already covered Gouf.

>>6948753
>>6948764

>>

The only figure from this line that I own is the custom and he's good enough to where I'd want to buy more. Like you said, it is very fiddly and that's really my only complaint.
>>
>>6951569
>(Dom Tropen would be even lovelier!)

I would do unholy things for a Dom Tropen.

But first ANIME 0080 needs to make a Z'Gok-E, Hygogg, and definitely the Kaempfer. Maybe MP Guncannons and the Gelgoog Jaeger or whatever the 0080 variant is.
>>
>>6951776
Yeah, I wanted to get a Gouf Custom, but after hearing how fiddly he is, I'm glad I waited. Especially considering how they'll probably make a better, more accurate version it in the next few years.

I got Gundam Alex and two Patlabor Unit 1/Unit 2 movie sets in the mail yesterday. I'm slightly steamed at how much better value the Movie Ingram pack is compared to the TV releases (although I think the TV versions are slightly better-made and have nicer colors), but Alex is just amazing. The engineering is a step up even over the previous ANIME releases. Shipping was 5020JPY via EMS. Here in the US we don't have to deal with customs fees or taxes, so unfortunately I can't offer much insight there for you, Canada anon.

In terms of the shipping fee alone though, shipping everything together was the most cost efficient method by far. HLJ's EMS gets really cost effective the more stuff you're shipping. It can depend on what weight limits you hit, though. I was playing with the shipment composition, and after removing 3 RDs from the shipment it still cost 5020JPY to ship. Removing a fourth RD dropped the shipping cost to around 4400JPY.

And just for reference, "Standard" shipping was 5200JPY (which I think is what HLJ calls RSAL) and FedEx was 6000JPY.

You should use gray for panel lining, black makes it look more like a toy.

If you have a mechanical pencil it will work too for paneling , it will give it that light but noticeable lasting line that will bring out the detail without standing out.

Holy shit, so dope, I should get mine early this week!.
>>6953250
Yeah I'm happy to share it! Not like I did it myself, but still. And I'm gonna use the yellow thick-point Gundam Marker. It's got a bit of orange to it, and I hope will work well. And you just gotta go real slow, baby, you'll do fine. Watch some panel-lining tutorials.
>>6953347
They also didn't line it too well and a lot of spots have the outer parts lined but not the actual spot. It's what happens when the marker is too big and can't fit deep in the slot/hope/panel, unless they did it on purpose to make it more subtle, but using gray would probably solve that. Still, black behind the verniers is good and I was thinking of doing black there and gray for other details.

Heh, so I remembered I had some Gundam Markers from years ago stored away somewhere. Busted'em out, did all the black that I wanted to do.

It turned out pretty well. Some of those verniers are hard to get into though; mostly the shoulder ones. It took a lot of erasing after I finished to get it back to being cleaned up. But the finished product looks great to me, so I'm happy.

Although I did try to panel-line some really small details on the inside of the knee area, and those came out a bit sloppy. I'm wondering if I can use some alcohol or something to get it out of there, since they're recessed in I can't fit an eraser in those details.

I have to order a yellow Gundam Marker, to put the finishing touches on it still. Lemme know how the yellow turns out!

The wrist-gatlings are a little tight at first, and I only noticed because I was putting the muzzle-flash effect back on it and happened to twist a little and voila! They spin! Has me hopeful they'll make Kampfer's shotguns with working pumps.
>>
>>6954698
Nice! I figured the shoulders would be a pain but you made it look so good! And when I get it in the mail and paint it up I'll post it for sure

>>
>>6954786
Yeah, the shoulders are definitely the worst part. But Thank you! Luckily I'm also an artist so I'm used to "inking" like this, just on paper instead.

>shotguns with working pumps
They did it way back on the Arbalest RD from Full Metal Panic, so here's hoping. I love little features like that when they put them into a figure design.

fellas lets try to post our whole rd collection

unfortunately i dont have included:
-all other eva except night combat
-unicorn rd
-anime char rick dom
-anime prototype dom
-vifam
-gundam base parts

im trying to collect all ANIME and Patlabor RDs if possible

worst rd(s) in your collection?
best rd(s)?

I think my least favourite would be the acguy, not a fan of how its legs work for the most part and is better displayed on a stand for underwater combat.

Most favourite RD would be a tie between the full armour and the gouf. Full armour is the best gundam type you can own in this collection, so many parts and effects to play with. Gouf is just so damn sexy, cant get over how good he looks when posing it.
>>
>>6955175
I just started collecting Damashii's. At work, can't post pics yet.

- Wing Gundam
- God Gundam
- Strike Gundam
- Tallgeese III
- Hi Nu Gundam
- Enhanced ZZ Gundam
- Deathscythe Hell
- Kyrios

Best: Hi Nu. Has a very strong visually presence. Wish these things were in scale, though.

Worst: Kyrios. Very weak offering. While it looks nice, it poses poorly and is very underwhelming.

Most Wanted: Zeta Plus, FAZZ, and Ex-S

Want 0083 RDs so bad

I can see them in the regualr RD line or the A.N.I.M.E. line, but I would love seeing Katoki's GP-01Fb in the Ka Signature line
>>
>>6954698
>Has me hopeful they'll make Kampfer's shotguns with working pumps.

Pretty sure the shotguns on the RD Full Metal Panic! stuff have working pumps, no reason the Kaempfer can't.
>>
How many zeta pluses did taskforce alpha have
>>
>>6955348
But Katoki didn't design Zephyranthes...

>>6955372
Right, I mentioned the Arbalest up above. I totally think they'll make them with working pumps, especially sonce Kampfer had a scene where he's just pumping shots out for a few a seconds.

I may be wrong, but I think the RD Ingram shotgun doesn't have a working pump, though that's probably because their weapons are smaller-scaled.
>>
>>6955473
A Robot Damashii Kaemfer would be an immediate sell for me. I had the MSiA and was pleased with it back In the day (Cyclops Team logo on the head was such a crazy detail on so small a figure).

I can only imagine how amazing a damashii would be.
>>
>>6955473
>But Katoki didn't design Zephyranthes...

I know that. The Ka Signature line is not limited to only MS that Katoki originally designed.
>>
>>6955624
Oh sorry, the way you said it earlier made it seem that way. My bad!

>>6955585
Oh yeah, I've been dreaming of what an RD Kampfer would be like for years now. What I'm really curious about is if they'll find a way to keep the thrusters built into the back of the thighs from limiting the knee-bending articulation and how they might do it.
>>
>>6955628

I was literally gonna say the same thing. Maybe they'll be on a hinge joint that folds up as the leg bends back.

I would love to see the chain mine. And beam sabers. The MSiA had no sabers.
>>
>>6955637
>Chain Mine and Beam Sabers

Yes! I'm so excited for him to finally have beam sabers. They can't leave them out considering he pulls one on his final rush on Alex.

The chain mine will probably be flexible/posable; they've done it for similar weapons like Gouf's Heat Rod. I'm wondering if they'll include separate mines with pegs on the back to attach to Alex's eventual Chobham armor, and maybe even have one or two that are exploding? That'd be pretty dope.

As for the thigh-thrusters, I could think of two options: they could either put the thruster on a sliding piece that would allow it to slide up and forward to make clearance room for the knee, or they could have the thruster collapse as the knee pushes on it via a spring. Whatever they end up doing, I at least hope they address that issue, as the MSiA could barely bend its knees.

>>
>>6955907

>>
>>6956052
I looked around and it seems like all the RNPC markings are from very early promos. Like late 2017 to early 2018 and newer promos are all RNPB
>>
Got the zaku kai today. He's pretty great, easily my favorite out of the last couple releases I've bought. The elbow and knee joint design is really something else. Only complaint I have with it is the hips are super tight to the point I think I might need to shock oil them.

if you're new to this, your most wanted are all Ver Ka. and you can pretty much consider them a sub-line that is very different than regular RDs. In general they are bigger and more detailed and far more expensive.
>>
>>6956292
Mine isn't here yet, but general rule of thumb is that anything in a photo review will inevitably look much better in person. You'll be looking at the figures at an arm's length after all, not blown up huge on your monitor and shot with a macro lens.
>>
>>6956426
Yeah, I knew that going in. Thank you, though.

I had been paying attention to the RD line since it came out, but only recently started buying.

I'm in a position where the Ver. Ka line and Metal Damashii's are feasible now, just not as a single big purchase for the ones I really want
>>
>>6956292
The color isn’t noticeable, though the gap between the green plastic and the paint certainly is.

Wetland Zaku comes with some megalla cannon container of sorts.

If they are milking the Zaku mould straight that many times, we better get Thomas Klutz Gelgoog as well as the Gray Gelgoog with both high mob and cannon backpacks.

It looks like MSV ain't going soon as they are targeting oldies.

GM Cannon is unlikely to get African and Nth American colours though as it didn't sell well, but how about GM in MSV colours with the different skirt armor?

They still have that brown desert Gouf, but Zaku will always be the most iconic. Gouf Prototype and M'Quave and also the other Zabi Zakus would be great too.

There is also that Zaku I A type in MSV colours.

If they have a way to increase the range of the Zaku High Mob knee bend, then we should get all colours, including the regular green.
>>
>>6956707
It looks like the Zaku comes with an extensive weapons mount.

I will most likely get 4 of these guys then. Hopefully to give the mounts to the other Zakus.

I mean I really hope they do the Thomas Kurtz Gelgoog Cannon. That's my favorite iteration of that design. And the only reason I figured they'd pass on making it was because of the more complicated color separations, which wetland Zaku just proved isn't a solid reason to avoid making it now.

Looks like there may still be a chance for GM Light Armor if MSV isn't done yet.

Android phones save pictures in fixed orientation. Apps then rotate the picture based on the orientation metadata saved when the picture was taken, but 4chan ignores or scrubs that stuff when uploaded or displayed so it won't be rotated.

Open it in microsoft paint or something and just reorient it and then save it.

Only when they're directly in your hands and you're posing them or swapping parts or whatever. Most of the time they will be sitting on your desk, approximately an arm's length away from your eyes, or on your shelf, where you also generally would view them from about an arm's length. At least, that's how it works for me most of the time. Maybe you actually do look at your figures from two inches away all the time, I don't know your habits.

Comes with weapon mounts and new missile container

So this guy is 1000 yen above the 5500 yen green Zaku for a paint job and new accessories. Of course, we have to account for the usual 500 yen reseller markup and japanese tax too.

6480 yen tax incl
Comes with new weapon mounts and rocket launcher. Not sure if it comes with the black giant bazooka or not as the text did not mention it.

They are more display pieces in an SD format with some sorta useful articulation. They feel overpriced for what they are but they aren't bad or anything.

It has been commonly misinterpreted that 12 MS-09D Tropical Doms with the same look as the YMS-09D Tropical Test type were made, but they were actually normal Doms converted by exchanging the backpack and head.
