MUNKY MADNESS EDITION

Old Thread: >>>6982922

Glad that's getting re-released. More people deserve to experience it.

I just fucking dropped $235 on it last week

Well, speaking of gorillas, got these fellas in the mail today. Their Autobot counterparts are a little lackluster, but these two are fan-fucking-tasting. Tiny guys full of fun engineering.
>>
>>6994069
I'd rather experience it with a faceplate, but that's not getting a reissue.
>>
PE's Abominus Hands and Feet upgrade set will include black versions of the Bruticus back cannons

okay but why?
>>
>>6994069
Already got Gorira Prime. Chose to buy the POTP Leader version instead since I've already got one PE Gorira.
>>
>>6994229
>Gorira Prime
I honestly prefer those colors anyway, I always felt the original optimal optimus colors never made any sense, even show wise.
>>
>>6994253
>the original optimal optimus colors never made any sense

stands out on store shelves
>>
>>6994069
Oh, that's good to hear.
>>
>>6994060
Wait, I thought PE re-engineered the jet mode from the original design?
>>
>>6994264
They did, but you sitll can transform it to resemble the original configuration.
>>
>>6994253
The beast era never really stuck to any color schemes for characters except Cheetor and Megatron; even then their secondary colors switched around often. With Optimal a lot of his colorization is meant to evoke Optimus Prime except fort he orange, which seems like its meant to be a compromise between Optimus red and Transmetal Optimus' brown, maybe? I always wished Primal kept his Season 1 colors for his Transmetal modes, though.
>>
My only real critiques about BG is that the Pauldrons can only peg in on the front, and do so awkwardly. I actually liked putting the pauldrons on top of the original. Makes him like star saber and Ultra Magnus(and the Japanese release is even called "Powered Convoy", linking the connection between the two), and that the tank mode's front isn't just the two fists connected. The squareness of the original's fist made a nice, blocky front end for the tank, this one's tank wheel being held in between the hands looks silly.

>>6994113

Goriria Prime actually made me appreciate the deco even more. Primal Prime's weird swerves to the classic Optimus deco sort of bothered me, but put together with the new mold it made em appreciate him more as his own character. Especially love the striking green eyes which feels very Beast era.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>6994210
It's probably all on the same mold, and it'd be easier/more profitable to sell it for the same price as the bruticus set than make all the parts and just trash the cannons.

it's not really optimus so go for it. If it was the blue/red repaint then I'd probably say don't because he's not different enough from the rest of the other optimii toys.

It's a reference to one of their early Facebook posts:

Basically certain batches are designed for sale within China, with a second set for outside of China. This is to get any after sale service provided from Zeta themselves.

45 for each set, one Autobot and on Decepticon.

Highbrow is the weakest of the four for sure. His copter mode is very...flat. Bot mode is good, but he's also the only one of the four that can't turn his head. I can't even trim his head to let it turn because the whole thing is painted.

Cerebros does all his stuff well, but he turns into a head for a Fort Max that doesn't exist (yet?) so that's weird.

Yes. I still like him, but I stand by him as the weakest. I feel like it's obviously implied they have a Fort Max in the works since head mode has neck articulation.

I'm kind of not digging how thick his legs are front to back, and I really wish they could have worked the arm assembly into the actual ab-crunch. Still, looks like a steal for 35.

Question. Snapdragon's dragon mode, does the waist hinge have to be pointed down, or can it be pointed up? Was watching one reviewer and his Snapdragon kept falling over at the midsection thanks to a loose waist joint, in dragon mode.
>>
>>6994938
As per the directions, it's supposed to be pointed up (so the hinge itself on his back). Plus that's the only way he has ports for the wing parts to plug in on his back. So yeah, he was doing it wrong.

I got into 3p stuff because of Terminus Hexatron. He remains My favorite 3p figure and the best Sixshot, although there have always been bitching about him being too greebly or overdesigned.
>>
so, I had an idea, and I need someone able to do digibashing well to bash out a basic idea for me.

SXS Overclocking (the big blue ice brick robot) digibashed into cybertron Hot Shot/Galaxy force Excellion. (blue ver)

I'm thinking it's possible to make him look like an homage to the rival to Nitro and make sure he's not "hot rod with BIG shoulders" but the tricky part that is messing me up is figuring out HOW to add in the colors needed to evoke such an idea, because the base figure is TOO BLUE.

Zeta toys is legit, if you ever wanted hegemon, get mctron, he is awesome and feels great, only thing I wish was clear plastic still is the scope, but I might eventually fix that with something.

His head having good light piping would be nice, but I do not know if it is truly needed with such a bright plastic.

Final thoughts: Despite the assembly error in jet mode, Starscream's pretty damn good. A fine representation of the character, great articulation for his size, a simple to follow transformation, and some good accessories. Between him and Shockwave, I like him a bit more. Also, the stand he came with is pretty damn sturdy, and able to hold him up in Coronation Mode by just pegging into one of his wings. Good job by Iron Factory there.

I got FT Rouge/Arcee with that 20% off coupon, and man its pretty shit. the whole torso is a nightmare to peg together in robot mode, and the transformations involves a lot of scarily fragile and delicate partsAnnoyingly its so close to being perfect but just stops short due to some questionable engineering and design. The sculpt itself is super nice and honestly one of the best FT ones I've seen, and admittedly I don't usually like how sterile Fans toys usually is, but this one is full of character. Too bad the weirdly gapped torso gives her what looks like horrible posture; in makes her either look a little hunched, or her pelvis juts out a little too much.

>>

I'm not the guy you responded to but realistically there are a lot of people who just plain wouldn't buy the figure if the KO wasn't available at a cheaper price or with things improved from the original. Not wanting to support SS because their figures are a steaming pile of shit is perfectly fine, but after deciding not to buy that you'd put your money towards a different product.
It doesn't matter which specific product you buy, every dollar you spend on official (and 3P) products helps sustain innovation in the hobby.
Every dollar you spend on KOs drives us towards endless GEEWUN wars and safe bets because companies don't have confidence in the market to take risks.

Hasbro toys stay shitty and overprice because you aren't buying it

>Hasbro toys stay shitty and overprice because you aren't buying it
I think it's more that they're staying shitty and overpriced BECAUSE people are buying them. Costs are down and profits are up regardless of sales numbers because Hasbro/Warden realized the fandom's full of autistics who don't know the value of money, and nostalgia-drunks who buy characters for a cheap high. There's no point in pushing the engineering, stretching the budget, or even making original designs if you can just add panel lines to Sunbow lineart and repaint it ad-nauseum. Warden being a geewunner doesn't help, either.
>>
>>7003208
We don't get the hard data of sales and cost however. At best we get them saying "everything is good we swear" with little context beyond that. Transfomers have shrunk dramatically both in product made in a year and shelf space. TLK globally shelfwarmed hard, something the other 4 TF movie lines didn't do. PotP is a very small set and WfC looks to keep those numbers as well. Regardless of what's going on it's clear both demand and supply is getting weaker, almost 30th Ann. GiJoe weak. If the Bee movie does bad we might see Hasbro just go full license and not even play with it's original brands anymore.
>>
>>7003208
That’s not how things work over all. Yes their is a sweet spot where you get people to overspend but you cut costs but there are limits to that and in short you don’t start cutting back on quality until sales dip.

>>
>>7003223
Unless the increased profit more than makes up for the lost sales. That's the kind of thing that's perpetuated lootboxes in the video game industry. One person skips a game for its lootboxes, another buys the game and spends $100 on lootboxes. One person skips a transformer for being shit, X amount of people with low standards buy it anyway and make up for that lost sale by paying the same price or higher for a cheaper product.

Correct but in brick and mortar that’s a recipe for death if nothing brings demand back, it’s why I compared it to GI joe. The brand is suffering in sales, they didn’t drop the quality because they wanted too, the drop it because they saw no other outcome.
>>
>>7002889
>I don't even buy KOs but I know it's pretty short-sighted to act like if KOs ceased to exist that official sales would see this significant increase. It's just not true.

Look at Takara's official MP line and how its dried up, and how the MPs they are making are Beast Wars and movieline stuff, the former which KO companies either can't, or don't want to KO, and the latter which they co-release with Hasbro. The G1 stuff they are releasing is all safe bets like Optimus and Megatron.
>>
>>7003271
Apparently different batches have varrying QC. Maybe I just got a bad one.
>>
>>7002776
If Hasbro didn't want me to buy the LT KO they'd have painted their $100 masterpiece figure and made it able to stand on its own. Obviously improving is easier than making something new, but if your product sucks and there's a KO that's leaps and bounds better, I'm buying the KO.

>>
>>7003978
Its not "can't" as in they can't make any kind of KOs, which I'm sure is possible, its more like replicating the complex deco printed on the official releases is too complicated to get completely right for these KO companies on the cheap, thus you might not see BW KOs that are as indistinguishable at a glance like the g1 KOs have been, which use mostly methods KO manufacturers have been doing for years. Anecdotally, this stems from all the KOs of SHF figures that use a similar paint method to MP Primal and cheetor, and consistently mess up.
>>

Money going to KO or 3P companies doesn't necessarily mean it's money lost for Hasbro or Takara. Especially if I had no intention of giving them my money for said product.

I miss Milne and Burcham on MTMTE. The drab fucking colors and garbage art style on LL right now perfectly compliments Robert's degrading quality in storytelling.

Wrong thread?

Maybe it's just me but for the most part it seems like the paint/applications are the one thing that KOs have consistently had no problem fucking up so I doubt these would somehow break that system. On top of that, I look at one like my MP Optimus Primal and don't see anything too insane to about its deco to not have been replicated. I believe it's more market than anything else and "can't," "paint," or whatever is next aren't the problem.

Is it possible that the people making this game and the comics don't know the difference between hastak and 3p? Like they just Google 'predaking' and then draw the coolest looking cool they find.

This...might be the weirdest box art I've ever seen...

Kino refers to cinematography, it's not just another way of saying "good", retard.

Did MMC ever sell Drift's cape seperately? Or is it worth it tracking it down?
>>
>>7004766
Haven't seen it sold separately yet but I got the cape with Drift and I will say it's pretty nice, made of some kind of faux suede stuff with the poseable wires sewn in. One thing I havent seen mentioned though is that it's actually two pieces- the cape/poncho piece and also whats more like a scarf, a long thin piece to put around the neck of the figure and hide the neck hole I guess. Thought that was pretty nice.

Aside from yet another Optimus, what is this are there pics of it compared to the MP10V mold, or something else?

big bang theory had it with a desk, and the box art is meant to remind folks of the one g1 episode the robots went to a planet they were "life sized" toys for that alien boy.
