Steelcore is in my top 5 toys in general, and would be a pretty strong contender for my favorite third party. But I look at this and the construction version and they're not doing it for me at all. Like, what?

MT Starscream is the best Starscream.

Compared to the outdated official MP he is.
>>
>>7040342

I want to like it. But man is it like 5 years too late at this point. I'd rather they just make more donut steels than try to swing some obvious high ticket character repaints. MT CD line took over where FP faltered.
>>
Thoughts on BC making their own line of characters?
>>
>>7040348
Seconding this, I'll take what I can get and love it at this point.
>>
>>7040401

If the price is right and its not shit then sure. But that doesn't look like I need to have it since it apes off of Huffer and Pipes pretty badly. I'd like things more along the lines of Steel Core than sorta-but not-really that one guy from Transformers.
>>
>>7040342
Is this just Steelcore again? Because I'm OK with that if so; I always kind of wanted him.

TCP and toydojo. They usually get stuff faster and sometimes have lower prices than BBTS, and TCP has a rewards system, AND both give free shipping at a certain $ value.

All BBTS really has going for it these days is they tend to stock everything, and a lot of any given item. So if you can't find it anywhere else, BBTS usually has it still in stock.
>>
>>7040513
Oh, and TCP and toydojo almost always end up shipping same day that you order. BBTS in my experiences lets shit sit for like 2 days before throwing it out the door to the mailman.
>>
>>7040506
I typically use bbts just because they have decent shipping and pretty good customer service. That said I have been using Ebay a lot because of their coupons.
>>
>>7040506
TFSource.
>>
>>7040506
Either toydojo or tfsource.
>>
>>7040506
ToyDojo is the only one of the popular stores I haven't had some major issue with at one point or another.
>>
>>7040577
What issues have you had with other stores? Everyone always seems to love a "Why I got fucked over" story.
>>
>>7040582
Bought a Zeta Flyfire from BBTS that was missing its tail fin. Contacted them for a replacement and they said they didnt have any on hand and didnt want to contact the manufacturer and all I could do was return it for store credit. Still trying to track down a replacement months later.
TFSource once sent me the wrong toy. Wouldn't send me the correct one till I shipped the wrong one back at my expense, then had to pay for shipping on the right one again before they'd send it out.
TCP has given me the most issues over the year. Once sent a toy in a much larger cardboard box with no packing filler at all, box was beat all to hell when I got it. Annoying because I had paid the extra $5 for a collectors grade box, just because that put me over the threshold for free shipping. They also once sent me a package with no postage on it whatsover. I had to go to the post office and pay for it, and I could never get them to refund me the shipping, despite saying they would several times. There were a few other issues too. Plus several other issues
GCI sold me something that they new they wouldn't have stock for, charged me double shipping, provided a fake shipping number, and it took months to get a refund from them.
Captured prey is just slow as shit to get stock in. Could be a half a year before they get stuff that other people have already shipped out.
>>
>>7040644
Ouch, that sounds pretty annoying anon. I hope your experiences have been better since.

I'm trying to get an Iron Factory Burning Slug, as I made the mistake of not preordering him when I had a chance from my preferred toysite (UK here).

If I go the ebay route, am I going to be getting 'real' third party products rather than KO ones? I mean he only just dropped so it would make sense that any on the market right now are real right?

>oh hey they've got that windblade redeco

>>
>>7040513
The thing that gets on my tits about TCP is how many items that are not only long out of stock, but also waaay out of production with small hope of reissue marked “join waiting list” as if you have a hope in hell. Makes it worse when these “waiting list” things that haven’t been in stock for over a year get discounted sale prices and are never physically in stock.
>>
>>7040761
Iron Factory doesn't seem to do reissues is the thing. Other companies do do reruns at times though, with MMC probably being the number 1 reissuing company for 3P's. I'm guessing when they built their site they had it constructed in such a way that it's not worth their time/money to just get rid of everything after it's obvious it'll never be restocked.

Interesting choice to go for box-art accuracy instead of pure screen accuracy but I can dig that. I wonder if that accuracy is gonna apply to colors and use of chrome too.

Here's hoping they keep this up since BW is a largely untapped market in the 3p scene, especially when it comes to accuracy of any kind. I'm hoping they Do Optimal Optimus next just for the sake of symetry and then move on to some other characters like Transmetal 2 Dinobot, or maybe even dip into Transmetal 1 Megatron and Primal.

Like, inside the toy box itself, or inside the shipping box? Because I've had sellers toss in a few symbols occasionally.
>>
>>7041857
In was in the shipping box, but they used the box from the manufacturer (like it's got PAPATOYS written on it)

I suppose it's much more likely that the seller just threw it in the box and taped it back up, though.

>>

>BW is a largely untapped market
anything that's not G1 is a largely untapped market in 3p stuff.
>>
>>7041906
True enough. The only other well represented TF fiction is IDW, which some could argue is G1, or at least similar enough to it.
>>
>>7041906
>>7041922
Hi newfags.
>>
>>7041867

Did you buy it from hzj401? That guy's a true Chinese hero.
>>
>>7041940
It really doesn't count when half the shit outside of G1 either still isn't out yet (any of the animated shit) or only includes 1 to a small handful of figures (WfC/FoC, BW, Armada, BW, TBeast) and so far nothing else in development or with barely any progress.

Bayverse is starting to see some more 3p support but it's still slow going and is just everybody fighting over the same goddamn characters or doing improved KOs of existing figures.

The point is that G1 is still by far and away the most well represented chunk of TF fiction with most other subsections not even having enough in them to constitute much of a collection. Other things are starting to poke through but there's still hardly any focus on anything that isn't G1.
>>

>>
>>7041992
These seem really solid as far as I can tell. As was said before they have some mold flash and nubs left over here and there (actually very few on mine) but otherwise the quality is great.
>>
>>7042014
>>
>>7042016
The bots and the kibble. Can't leave any of this shit in the box.
>>
>>7042022
>only pic I took of them all geared up is blurry
Man I should have bought an actual new camera.

The plastic on them is all nice and overall the joint tightness is good. The paint apps have kind of that thin look to them but it's not bad or a risk of paint rub I think.

Also, like the other person said in a previous thread, the shoulderpads have these nubs on them to keep them in place that are kind of too tight out of the box and should be filed down first, but that's about the only thing that really needs to be adjusted on mine (aside from cleaning up nubs and flash)
>>
Why would anyone want this?
>>
>>7042028
They also come with some guns that aren't just their kibble, and a knife, and a clip to hold the knife (at least I think that's what that's for), and of course some faceplates but I didn't bother to take a picture.

An actual complaint is that they seem to be using 4mm pegs for everything rather than 3 or 5, so it's gonna be hard giving them new accessories or giving their to other figures.
>>
>>7042034
How tall are they next to like a generations figure?

And thank you for all your pictures and notes on them.
>>
>>7042034
>and this picture is overexposed

If you don't armour them up with their kibble in the robot mode there really isn't an intended way for the parts to store, but most of it will actually tab together in some conveniently sized slots on the base/riot shield while the lens can just kind of sit there.

>>7042038
I'll get a picture of that too sure
>>
>>7042034
They look real tempting to get, but MT and KFC's Camerabros would match the rest of my shelf a lot better.
>>
>>7042039

>>
>>7042051

Pretty sure they don't fit the scale but I like this size.
>>
>>7042051

In order:

>Brawl
You need to take his arms off the ball joints and sand or scrape off the seam line on the black ball joints. The green plastic is a softer one, and the black is very hard, so the seam line on the black ball joints makes the arms loose because it scrapes at the green plastic. If yours is already loose because you didn't know this, do it anyway, and then put some futureshine or some superglue on it to restore tightness.
Also people don't get how to unfold his legs. Pic related, it's how to do it right.

>Swindle
Shouldn't be anything wrong with him.

>Onslaught
Shouldn't be anything wrong.

>Vortex
Might be stressed at the waist mushroom joint. I'm guessing this was a factory insertion thing, because mine and a bunch of other peoples arrived stressed.

>Blastoff
Same as Vortex. Also make sure the moving plate on his back isn't pressed in against the head when you try to pull the head up because it can block it and lead to breaking the purple tab, and don't force the purple tab, just use the purple tab to move the head up, and just lock the head in the rest of the way by gripping the head, not the purple tab, because the tab isn't meant to take that degree of force and you might break the tab. Or in other words "Don't hamhand the purple tab off".

Also, Onslaught's legs are a bit restricted in their backwards bending in regular ol' robot mode. It's because he has a big plate on his ass. You still get enough for action poses though, just it is limited.

And I just remembered, you might need to unscrew the Bruticus head and sand/scrape some of the paint off the inside of the antenna's joints. Some peoples were tight, so that'll fix the tightness. Very easy, 5 minute fix.

I took that deal a while ago. And yes, it's one AMAZING set. Center component is a bit annoying to transform but appart that, It's a pretty sweet deal from Maketoys themselves.

I also got Despotron for 90$ and a loose YOTS Omega Supreme upgrade set for 20$ as part of their "shipping deal". I'm looking forward the next Maketoys sale. There's a few older things that I'm eying right now but I don't want to pay full price for.

I take a bit of offense to that given how well-posed my collection is. His excessively beefy forearms and surprising lack of wrist-swivel are irksome, along the ankle tilt being a li'l too low for my liking. Also disappointed they didn't some how work in the ab crunch in a meaningful manner given it's ALMOST there, but his arms have to fall out to actually make it operable. There's also some weird range of motion issue on his knees similar to Master Made Metroplex: at a certain point, it just jumps forward another 10-15 degrees and skips a bit too much for my liking. It's not a dealbreaker in the slightest and I very much like him, but he's a little bit of an outlier compared to everything else I own in how clunky he is to pose (sans the craptastic Arcee that came with IF Onslaught), and I believe it's related to his extremity / chest size.

Also, unlike most folks, I actually really hate most of your pictures. They're not bad at all, just the excessive use of fx parts tends to make everything noisy and never lets the poses speak for themselves. Things like your Ironhide pictures are the worst offenders of this (taking a bland, genuinely poor figure, and trying far too hard to make it look good by piling on all the parts to try and obfuscate its shortcomings).

They're trying to do the G1 cartoon pyramid jet mode but without the massive mess of shell panels that IT had to do so it comes off more like the War Within/Cybertron starscream jet, yet keeping a G1 cartoon robot mode.

Unfortunately it is literally impossible to do an accurate pyramid jet without the panels, the thing was not drawn with any intention of being a working toy- the cartoon used the stock robot designs for the jets, Jazz and Bumblebee so they didn't remotely look like their alt modes or share parts. They all did the standard blob morph the cartoon always did.

oh and NEVER put Divebomb's wings onto the large wing pack. The connectors will likely rip themselves free when you try to take them off. It looks dumb anyway.

You can put the big cannons into the shoulder joints between Razorclaw and the arms for a more g1 toy look. I only wish the cannon barrels were shorter or came off for a more g1 toy look to be used with Razorclaw.

Rampage is just great, the gem on the set, the legbots can look too thin in beastmode but they're just being faithful to the original design, Divebomb lacks some articulation on the arms but still pretty decent, Razorclaw is the issue, he got sacrificed for combined mode and his knee swivels needed to be ratchets not just friction joints.
>>

TFSource also has a preorder for solid orange BUT

>no toy head
>no orange mixer drum
>no alternate silver thighs

They got shitty cheap with these box sets and left out the extra parts, focusing on MUH CARTUNE crybabies even though G2 never had a cartoon version.

At $400 for these sets I'd better get the extra parts, fuck Toyworld for doing this shit. Double weird because the yellow set does have both heads- but still only one drum and one set of thighs.

>inb4 "but this is accurate"

TO THE CARTOON ONLY not the toys. Stop pretending the barrel matching the body is inaccurate, you morons.

I don't get the point of the clear Devastators either, GT also did it and NBK followed suit. Weijiang did MPP10 in clear. I guess they kook interesting? But not interesting enough to buy them over the stock versions. They also rely on really good QC and TW hasn't much had that with this guy, I bet Long Haul's back wheels snap off too easy.

You can also look out for Neoart Toy's same-scale KO of MMC Predaking, the price is about the same at 120 too. It's 4 voyagers and 1 leader but they combine such that the height is about a Supreme class figure, just a head taller than CW combiners. It's not very fun to play with though, sharp corners and tight combiner ports that are a pain to swivel out.

Toy World are doing their yellow one for 50% off over on TFSource. As for colour preference.... Ehhh I dunno. I feel like the yellow is too plain. That face sculpt tho.

TaoBao is Chinese Ebay in short. They deal domestically there so all the Chinese 3P show up there early and cheap. There's private and official forwarding services but there's a language barrier you need to go through.
>>
>>7041164
Agree with everything you said. There's so much potential to be explored in the way of transforming robots, but sadly the market is cornered by the TF franchise which is only obsessed with releasing the same characters and designs because muh accuracy. More options is always better, sadly these guys are gonna have a hard time finding buyers.

Chinese ebay essentially. Cheaper than Aliexpress and most other retailers only if you live in China or they ship to your country. If not then you will have to use a proxy service which will increase the costs of what your buying. Not the anon your replying to but I got NBK version for pretty cheap from there plus you can find some KO's that you usually won't find on ebay or aliexpress.

Got Blitzwing in today. And my bad luck streak seems to be continuing from Sixshot. His left knee is pinned in sliiiightly off center, which has put a hairline crack into the knee. I don't think it'll break, and it was, once again, brand spankin' new, so nothing I can really do about it.

I'm debating putting a tiny bit of glue on the hairline crack. I don't know if that might fuck something up though, so meh. His space jet is a...Space jet. Not really the best of the IF altmodes, thats for sure. It has a certain charm to it though, at least for me. The tank turret over the cockpit makes me laugh, for some reason.

Tank mode looks a lot better. Of course "a lot" is pretty relative. I'm a sucker for tanks though. He's definitely one of the worst figures in terms of altmodes though. Still, this was IF's first real triplechanger (not really counting Overlord, since he's more of a Duocon?). And his 'bot mode is fairly solid. His tolerances all around on mine is pretty good.

Best triplechanger Legends class figures I've seen have been the Unique Toys Headmasters, which I probably should pick up some day. I've also got a Red Alert coming, hopefully should be here by tomorrow.

Good luck, anon.

I'd like to see FT Mindwipe, MT Highbrow, and Mastermade Devastator.

They haven't even released any of the DJD that was revealed last fall, take it easy on the poor guys.
>>
>>7044740
It's just a wishlist. Also DX9 teased that Legends Predaking like 2 years ago, and I don't know what the fuck they're doing but I guess the project just up and died. Maybe they got pissed their Hulkie got KO'd by literally everyone under the sun.
>>
>>7044750
Also your wish for "another" Predaking will have you monkey paw'd and it's the one coming from ToyWorld.
>>
>>7044758
...Well, I love Predaking, so...Alls good even if it's TW. I'd probably not buy it if it's TW, but I just really love the Predaking design and color combinations.

I think there's some shit going on behind closed doors at FT. Their either having factory trouble or some key people have left and formed new companies. Lets look at transform element who just burst onto the stage out of nowhere. Ben said in a FB post they aren't a new group but, couldn't say anymore than that

There's also Magic Square who at first seemed like they were going to tackle with IF and DX9 in the legend arena then use FT like tactics to announce their own MP prime right after Takara announced 3.0. They did it again releasing an updated prototype right after the clear mag pics of 3.0 were posted online.

And I thought Toyworld would have gone the way of obscurity.
But no, now we are going to get legend sized G1 toys and they are going to put TW Constructor in every damn legend product they are going to try to sell so that they can really juice how stupid the sizes were in the G1 cartoon.

Fair enough. Keep an eye on ebay then, I've seen all of the earlier ones listed individually from Chinese sellers.

I don't like Highbrow's copter mode much, it's too flat, but the bot mode is great. I admit just having Fort Max's head is weird, but it is a very good head; I hope they do a full Max.
>>
>>7045067
Oh yeah, I like the looks of them. I'm just saying, they could've done something other than just "lol heres a head with no body". Basically, any other Headmasters character would've been a better choice (or just done a 2 'Con box set and put Highbrow out by himself), and they could've saved Cerebro for a full on FortMax set, or...Something. I dunno.
>>
>>7045071

>legends class market getting almost as crowed as the MP one
>chug totally ignored
>>
>>7045044
The knees are soooo high up :/
>>
>>7045096
CHUG is just adhering to updated G1 designs while within certain size ranges. Technically, as long as it's not a straight up G1 figure fit within those size catagories, it's CHUG.

But I think you mean the Deluxe size catagory is being ignored, and it really is. Everything is either Legends, Voyager, or MP sized these days.
>>
>>7044243
I will see if I can buy them when they are out, I always want to encourage originality.
>>
Someone post fans project intimidate with legends size toys like iron factory.

I have a suspicion the cars are close to proper sizing.
>>
>>7045127
>Voyager
The problem is that a good number of the Voyager class figures coming out are of characters that should be Deluxe size so technically they don't even actually fit CHUG scale either, so you're basically stuck with MP scale or legends class.

It almost has me considering selling off most of my CHUG collection since it can't really grow anymore and then shifting to something different. Considering either legends class or just starting up collections of specific characters I like. I still love playing with the toys but I also want to have a somewhat coherent display factor to my collection.
>>
I had a dream last night third party companies were doing more beast wars and giving the third party treatment to the really early ones. Now I'm awake and disappointed at the lack of a third party Polar Claw, it's all I want now.
>>
>>7045165
If you swap over to a different size scheme, I can tell you already, it'll be a pain in the ass trying to track down specific releases that are older.
>>
>>7045167
Not until I get TM1 Megatron
>>
>>7045209
Yeah, that's also something I was thinking about. Even though there's more and more legends shit coming out, it still feels kinda late to jump on that train just because half of it is out of print these days...
>>
>>7045245
Well, theres still a ton out there thats easily available. You're kinda fucked though if you want some of the more popular, older sets though, since you'll only find'em by trawling ebay or BST's.
>>
>>7045167
I would love a robotic Polar Claw in the style of the recent Primal or upcoming cat Hot Rod or bull Sideswipe.

Yet they'll not put in thigh swivels for literally no reason, completely at random.
>>
>>7043880
I'm more surprised that they've only started after Age of Extinctions. Granted I'm glad for a lot of things that came after like Dreamfactory completing and upgrading the Wrecker trio, a decent Dino Mirage figure, Wei Jiang setting the bar for "enhanced KO's" after MPP01 and so on.
>>
>>7045294
Err, shit, not thigh swivels. Fuck I'm retarded. I really need to catch up on my sleep. I meant "Yet for some dudes they won't cut the top of the ball joints on the thighs". Seaspray literally cannot do a split because, in the one time Hasbro decides to not cut down on plastic, they didn't cut holes for his legs to move that way.
>>

Is this the best/surprising 3P announcement so far this year aside from a few Maketoys moulds?

The Maketoys ones were foreshadowed before their gray prototype though.
