For those unfamiliar, "Plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model." If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.

Yeah, both of them were recasts i picked up on ebay. Build was good but kouryus helmet is sculpted in a way that makes her look better while glancing to the side but off from the front. Anryu wasnt like that due to her shades but the battery cables kind of limit her head.

Quick question. I'm doing a build inspired by pic related, and wanted to know what you guys think would make a good stand in for those joint covers.

I was thinking some sort of plastic wrap painted or dyed or a rubber hose.

And do the Koto weapon sets fit 1/100 kits reasonably well?
>>
>>7104544
Cable tubing might work. I've seen people make swimsuits/bike shorts for their FAGs with that type of material. Koto weapons are generally between 1/100 and 1/144 depending on what.
>>
>>7104418
You need to ask the vendor.

Tamiya's range of styrene pipes are made to be telescoping if you find a place that stocks them (e.g. 3mm, 5mm, 7mm OD w/ 1mm wall thickness)
>>
>>7104795

Okay, so this was my first Gundam and I bought it about a month ago, and I feel like it's an anomally. I bought it cuz it said it was 1/100 and made by Bandai, so I assumed it was just an average kit.

But now having bought more Gundams and having actually researched stuff beforehand, I can't explain how weird this thing is. "Designer colour", just a normal 1/100, not a high grade or master grade. The thing is also fragile as hell.

Did I fuck up the first time around?
>>
>>7107013
it's a "no-grade" kit
>>
>>7107017

Is that similar to the first version of the 1/100 Barbatos? Cuz I just got that kit and absolutely love it, it's pretty durable compared to this 00 Raiser.
>>
>>7107013
Its a 1/100 scale no grade (unofficial name since theres no grade for it)

its the same for any ms from any new series to have these ie ibo , age

That model you have is quite old.
Incidently i have the 1/100 00gundam no grade as my first gunpla kit
The designer color ver has both the 00 and the 0 raiser as a set the "designer color " is supposed to be its original color based on ebikawas? Design.
>>
>>7107019

It was pretty pricey at the store I bought, Silver Snail. I was enticed by the fact that it had LED's with it. But thanks for letting me know!
>>
>>7107018
Yes but back then 1/100 no grades were typically a bigger hg in a sense.
>>
>>7107018
it's more durable because engineering standards improved between then

1/100 no grades were essentially scaled up high grades
>>
>>7107024
No prob.
It was the same for me too.
LED's looked cool in the gn drives.
>>
>>7107025
>>7107026

The biggest issue that kit has is that the 0 Raiser's wings weigh down the twin engines on the 00's arms and pries the engines off, so I Mr. Cemented the engines in place. Still looks really cool on my shelf, he's bulky as hell.

>>7107029

I'm building my first kit and broke a spoke on an angled piece clean off. Like stuck in the hole. I don't have any really good glue here and just used what I had on hand, but I'm pretty upset and worried it's going to look like shit. Any advice? Besides be more careful next time and have model glue on hand I suppose.

Model is the Takemikazuchi Type 00R Ver 1.5 by Kotobukiya, and I was on step 43 if your curious.
>>
>>7108021
don't tell me that's white glue. for starts, drill the piece out of the hole with an appropriately sized drill bit. then where the piece broke off, go find some plastic tubing at a hobby store that's the same size and cut it to length. depending on the piece you may need to pin it while attaching it, but attach it to the place it broke off with plastic cement. with things like that pinning is probably best, you can find out what pinning is and how to do it with a quick google search. also good god man those nubs, i hope you intended to clean those up.

I'll try and do what you suggested, but chances are I'll probably end up fucking it up even worse. And I know, the nubs are pretty horrific, I don't really have anything to shave them down so I'll see if there's anything at the hobby shop that might help. I just hope I'll be able to fix it alright, I'll be pissed if I can't make it work after all this.

>>7108021
Jesus Christ, have you read up about model kits? Sorry if I come across as rude, but READ UP BEFORE YOU START BUILDING. Because Elmers glue doesn't work for that.
>>
>>7108040
If you're not able to nip any closer than that, you'll probably want a hobby knife (X-acto will work well enough) before applying sandpaper, else you seem likely to sand off all of your edges. In addition to reading the guide, you should probably check out a few YouTube videos too. I'm sure there are plenty out there. Feel free to ask for help too, but please ask BEFORE doing anything you think might be dumb.
>>
>>7108064
Yeah I just read the guide and am looking up youtube stuff as we speak, mainly trying to see what information I can get about fixing a peg snapping off into it's hole, which is probably common enough that it won't take much digging on my part. I'll go out tomorrow and get an Xacto knife, sandpaper, and whatever other materials I'll need for a thorough fix, and hopefully it'll all work out.

Hey guys, first time weathering.
Am I doing it right?
>>

What is this "Meeplemart"? I may have to check those guys out next time I visit all my cousins up there.
>>7107105
They're also nice for having less-than-commonly-stocked items. Last time I was up there (oh god it must have been the better part of a decade) I grabbed a Koto Chain Base.

>>7107318
Ayy, this guy, top taste.

>>7108100
No no you have to be series-accurate. Pop the head off, drill a hole down through the neck into the torso, and stick a firecracker in there, something with a lot of kick.
Really make that thing look edgy 90's pretty-boys self-destructed.

Is it better?
>>
>>7108263
Just feels derivative. I don't think you're really applying yourself anon. Find something interesting or textured to press into the melted plastic. Just setting it on fire isn't good enough.

I expect better from you, y2k gundam kid.
>>
>>7108100
Melt Gundam, with the power to... melt!
>>
>>7107853
This is close to greatness--the modeler has a decent sense of aesthetics and it shows in some areas. In other areas they just went too far and it went off the rails. All it needed was a little more restraint--but I guess you could say that about a lot of GBWC entries. The forearm and lower leg are my favorite parts of this.

The base is really nicely done. Not really sure what kind of terrain that's meant to represent but the sculpt is attractive and it's painted up beautifully.

If people are dumb enough to buy pre-made washes, they'll buy that shit too.
They know their user base
>>
>>7108471
Pre-made washes at least have the advantage of convenience and lasting a long ass time for your money, these are just straight up inferior to buying normal nippers while being 7 times more expensive than regular nail clippers.
>>
>>7108475
And just like you rationalizing why pre-made overpriced washes are good, I'm sure someone will call those nippers useful and worthwhile too.
>>
>>7108314
you can't tell they are rocks? it's like at a quary
>>
>>7108132

it's a big underground hobby shop. they've got tons of Gundam and Warhammer stuff.
>>
>>7108448
It's just a cuticle nipper.
>>7108501
Probably is useful for small detail parts with thin gates.

>>7108622
Right so I definitely gotta find an excuse to travel across an entire country and visit my family again.
>>
Stopped by my local hobby shop today and noticed they got the lighting kit for the F91 2.0 and restocked the GM/GM. Today was a good day.

good job on getting the red astray its a pricey one these days

ive got nearly everything myself except for the EX large ones aside from the neo zeong and sold off the Reco in G/ Seed / Build fighters

its a great line, Universal unit replaced it and those while looking better are shit articulation wise. the new G frames replaced the universal unit series but are 2x the size, i cant justify the line cause you need to buy 2 for one articulated figure which at the price should just go for the HG
>>
Why is this such a pain in the ass to airbrush? It just spontaneously stops flowing after like 2 seconds. Never had this issue with any other vallejo air paint.
>>
>>7110223
I've had that issue with their entire model air line. Really need to add thinner sadly.
>>
>>7110515
Even thinned it doesn't want to flow consistentlym either it stops going after 2 seconds or it splatters like birdshit. Already have to strip the paint off a few pieces now.

so you want to scratchbuild one yourself? Going off of how you seem to be new here, I'd say you're better off sticking to shapeways.

What do you guys do with older kits you don't want anymore?
Should I just trash them?
>>
>>7111108
At the very least you should do SCIENCE on them before tossing. You may also get a few bucks if you can be bothered selling them.
>>
I need to buy an airbrush kit, and I don't want to drop a lot of money.

https://www.amazon.com/Master-Airbrush-KIT-VC16-B22-Portable-Compressor/dp/B00BF0MW9G/ref=pd_rhf_gw_p_img_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=93FZ9AQHN1HN33NEMQK4

I'm looking at this one here for $50, but I don't have the savvy on whether or not this is a good deal, or if this is hot garbage.
>>
>>7111144
Those little box compressors aren't especially good, generally. You're only about thirty bucks from a workable starter set, though. You should probably take a peek at the guide, too.
>>
Anybody here from Melbourne AU want to buy some Gunpla? I want to get rid of a bulk of mine since it's taking up too much space.

Mostly MG's and with a whole bunch of P-Bandai releases.
>>
>>7107848
>My entry was the Leopard with the gun hammer.

Fuck I was there, but didn't see your build when I checked out the entries. I would've loved to see it in person since I've seen your progression pics posted here
>>
>>7111108
sell them on the BST, if you don't mind taking a small loss, it feels better than just throwing them in the trash
>>
>>7111172

>>

What have you got and for how much?

I can't seem to find a pic of this at the moment, but I've seen a panel lining technique that looks like opaque grey paint (it's quite opaque, as it shows up even over dark plastics/paints). Is there a pre-existing product or tool for this, or is it just old fashioned paint mixing and thinning to panel wash consistency?
