Looking for some help. Wanted to build this moc of L3-37 but can't quite figure out all the parts. I'm pretty sure I know what is used for the chest and even know a seller with a good price for the printed tile but it's the abdomen that I can't quite figure out. It looks like a tire axel but I can't tell for sure. I'm a casualfag so I have trouble IDing parts.

Are there any parts that make you mad because they never got re-released?
For me it's the canopy of the Magnaguard Starfighter
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=61191#T=C&C=13
>although from SW it's a nice generic shape, can easily be used in other themes
>useful canopy that can be easily get integrated in other builds
>NEVER GOT RE-RELEASED. Only came in one set and that's it
I should have just bought that set when it came out, but it's insane that they created a new windscreen mold but only used it one time

Anyone ever play around with glow-in-the-dark LEGO? It's kind of cheap, because it really only works well if you hold it up to a light source first. Here's a corner wall pattern I was working on last night. Also, I'm trying to think of other colours that work well with sand green aside from white, translucent blue, and somewhat earth blue. Any tips?

Here are some things you can do to take cool pictures of GITD and other blacklight-reactive elements. You can use UV bulbs to cause GITD pieces to glow, which has the added effect of rapidly "charging" the piece to actually glow in the dark.

Apparently you can get the two giant boat pieces from the Coast Guard Head Quarters set directly from Bricks & Pieces.
The big one is $23 and the smaller $5.
I guess if you really want boats that's a pretty good price off the $120 it sells for altogether.

I’ve got all of the Monster sets. It’s got a nice Castlevania vibe to it, but it’s not as big or detailed as Castle Theme castles. I ended up adding the Crazy Scientist set to my castle to make it a little bigger.

Personally, I was much happier putting my monsters in the Haunted House set. The build is more interesting and complex.

But if you really want the castle, you should buy it if you can get it for a good price.

So Brickset's random set of the day is 6973 Deep Freeze Defender from the Ice Planet theme, and I just had a nice discovery when I clicked on the minifigures for the set. A friend of mine gave me a minifigure when I was a kid, and I thought it was just a generic Aquaraider from the Aquazone theme, because it had the hook hand and body from sets like 2162 Hydro Reef Wrecker. But the head never matched any figures I'd ever seen in pictures until I clicked on today's set and looked at the Ice Planet Chief. Now I know the true origins of my hybrid figure, which is nice, because I never owned any Ice Planet or Aquaraiders sets, and managed to solve a 20 year old mystery.

Australia post is usually very reliable but when they fuck up, your parcel is near guaranteed lost, there seems to be no in between. Youre lucky it is even in the system at all, you will just have to pester the shit out of them until somebody actually fixes the problem.

I once ordered a mega bloks destiny set that never appeared in local tracking, seller gave me a full refund. Literally 5 months later, I get an unexpected delivery and behold, it was that destiny set I ordered. Came literally after I had already gotten 2 of the same set from another seller.
>>
>>7195864
Nice! That's probably the best one in years. As much as I like my Skate House and Lighthouse Point, and I'm looking forward to the Modern Home, they don't compare. Actually, the little Creator 3-in-1 sets with their dollhouse style generally don't hold up as well to the older houses like 4996, 5771, 5891, and 6754. Corner Deli and Park Street Townhouse were exceptional, tho. Hopefully LEGO makes a return to form some day, but that would mean including a baseplate and upping the cost a lot. I'm still grateful we still get buildings at all and not simple vignettes.

>>7196102
I'd like it, but I can't reasonably ask someone to send a minifigure to Canada because of my poor luck.
>>
>>7195124
Got that set when I was really into star wars, never reused the canopy though because it was too big for anything I'd need. I can imagine that's why it stayed in the past.

>>7195991

Park Street townhouse is probably next on my list, I just got lucky on the deli for $30 since it goes up to $70 online. But PSTH is in the $45-$50 range so I might have to pick it up before the price hike but I recently bought 4 sets over $150 so I’m slowing down for a bit
>>
>>7196172
I'm adopting an 'oh well's attitude to buying sets. If I miss it, then oh well, there will be more sets some day. I've always kicked myself for missing one thing, but then I've discovered another thing right around the corner, or taken for granted the things I have acquired. None of my sets will ever stay assembled forever, except the Yellow Submarine, so I'm not going to chase down expensive sets when I'll acquire a parts inventory through cheaper means. In the end I do intend to build MoCs anyway, and if you make a profile on Brickset or Rebrickable you can get a sense of how much of a set you can already build with the parts you have. It would be nice, though, if LEGO did hold the Creator line to the standard of PSTH and the Corner Deli.
>>
>>7196164
I mean if we're out on the water what am I going to say, no?
Speaking of which I still need to build Paddy's pub. Somehow.
>>
>>7196105
I'm still deeply regretting not getting Deep Freeze Defender at a big garage sale back in 1999-2000 or so. I was a teen (late bloomer so didn't get into my dark age yet) and was embarrassed l, indecisive, or otherwise shy to get it. I don't know why. Looking back I feel stupid for missing such a good opportunity.

I'm not sure if it was complete, but it was in the opened box which was a tad worn, but not too bad. Some guy older than me (young adult) just swooped it up and got it before I could decide. He got there right after me, too. I almost want to buy the set on Bricklink if for no other reason than to redeem myself.

>Can /sci/ explain
The old gods cant save you now. Luckily for you, I'm just the professional you need. It basically boils down to the fact that the average consumer doesn't even know Lego added chase figures. Along with kids generally being more excited about the 40th Anniversary than HP/FB series means less police going around. I'd also mention retailers buying more boxes of HP/FB because it's a powerful licence and the recent CMFs (including 18) have been selling well. Finally I'm pretty sure if you pick one pack at random from the box both the cop and Graves are 1:60. If you're holding a pack and you want to know who's inside it's like 1:17 or 1:22.

Here's a picture as my condolences.

Well they didn't care for Marvel Netflix so I highly doubt they'll care for Blizzard.
>>
>>7196480

That's most likely just because Marvel Netflix is boring-ass stuff to make sets based off of. It's just regular people in street clothes fighting other regular people in street clothes. That's the reason why Wong wasn't in the Sanctum Sanctorum set as well, they just didn't feel he was exciting compared to putting another Spider-man in.

Remember, this stuff is for kids, and kids want the colorful characters.

There were 22 figures in the HP wave but only 16 figures in the previous wave. The policeman was actually 1:60, because in a box of 60 CMFs, only one was the policeman.

The way I usually build a hoverklocki is to start with the pilot's seat, put together the thrusters, and then start beefing up the area around the pilot's seat, expanding outward in all directions. Also by tearing the entire thing completely apart and restarting at least a couple times.

Right now your bike looks like a bike on top of another bike, which I think is exacerbated by the gap in the middle. The radiator grille is also too prominent imo. It should be surrounded by the casing, at least on the sides.

Yeah, freehand moccing requires a lot of building up and walking backward as you start to create and refine groups of attachments. Eventually you'll develop your own library of useful techniques that you can do without thinking.

NTA but the most basic rule to keep in mind when building your own stuff is that five plates equals two studs. If you keep this ratio in mind you can easily cross distances using SNOT techniques and anchor perfectly on the other side.

Don't forget all the crises and reboots that DC has to "clean up" the continuity. Just excuses to retell the same stories with subtle changes over the years, particularly cause everyone loves that first year or two of Batman where he works alone.

The wings are definitely going to need some work at the roots but I'll have to wait until I've got the parts in hand to figure out where/how they can be supported without compromising the look.

Probably not going to be swooshable but you never know, should at least be able to sit on the gear.

Spider-Gwen IS Gwen Stacy of her own universe; Peter becomes the Lizard before he accidentally croaks.

Gwenpool is "Gwen Poole" who looks like Gwen Stacy but isn't.

It's slightly less stupid when you know Spider Gwen was written to be Gwen while Gwenpool was supposed to be a one-off cover joke about using Gwen in their other books. Cosplayers latched onto Gwenpool so they wrote that one joke into a character.

They look like this. You shouldn't need a dedicated art supply store, Walgreenses and Walmarts have them if you're in the US.

All the rubbing will change the surface of the torso a little, smoothing out the slight pebbled texture. IMO it's good enough, impossible to notice unless specifically looking for it. There's probably a better way.

I can't remember what >>7198685 used.
>>
>>7198737
>I'm sorry but I am severely out of touch with any kind of art supply. I only have BiC pens for signing my paperwork and a sharpie I use to write replies to bathroom graffiti. But something simpler then a Q-tip and nail polish does sound appealing.

OK anon I will walk you through the how-to. First, you'll want a mechanical pencil to have something to grasp onto so you don't have to pinch the eraser between your fingers. Next, you'll want an eraser that crumbles. I recommend this brand.

Next step is to use scotch tape to tape off the sections of printing that you don't want to remove. I suggest getting your hands sweaty and then touching the tape to your skin a bunch to get rid of most of the adhesive. If there's too much adhesive, it can peel off the printing when you remove the tape. You just need the tape to be sticky enough to remain in place when you bump it with the eraser, but not so sticky that it peels off printing.

You might have to work in stages where you apply and remove tape if there are a lot of tight spaces, but the mad scientist jacket is pretty easy to clean up because you just have to cover the collar, flap, and belt so you should be able to just put one piece covering the collar, one piece covering the seam, and one piece covering the belt.

Next, just start rubbing the eraser on the piece.

Finally, remove the tape (running hot water over it as you peel it away seems to help loosen it), use hand soap to wash any adhesive off of the torso, and (optionally) use a microfiber cloth or sweat-wicking shirt to polish the area that you erased. Depending on how solid the printing is, you might have to leave a scuff mark on the piece getting all the printing off. Then again, I heresy'd some brand new pieces last night and it came off so easily that there's no indication there was ever printing there.

DO NOT USE NAIL POLISH REMOVER, EVEN THE KIND THAT'S NON-ACETONE. IT WILL DISSOLVE YOUR LEGOS.

I've posted before about my plans for a ridiculously huge Life on Mars MOC and I've started getting some of the modules presentable. Shitty phone quality pictures but the concepts are there none the less.

Here's the bays I've finished, the small red one is still being built but everything blue will have a red equal and vice versa. Once finished the small gates will have green lights just like the large ones.

the form factor also matches the mini mechs. It's also worth noting that the cockpits of the large mechs and jet hold hypersleds. There is a tube socket in the back that connects to the hanger when they're docked in the large gates. This means the pilots can but pumped directly into their vehicles.

Thanks, I tried to keep the vibe of the original theme intact while adding play features and detail. I limited myself to only using parts and techniques that would be available in sets during the time the theme was around. I like lego but whenever I used to keep up with modern sets I found the influx of complicated pieces and minuscule detail opportunities too overwhelming and time consuming to be fun and was never happy with the finished result, so I decided to limit myself to collecting and building in a single theme.

Fortunately my favorite theme, Life On Mars, is very unpopular so the sets and pieces for it go for super cheap and I can horde it easily.

I'm just curious what your experience has been as a seller on bricklink. Any difficulties in getting started? Have there been any issues or curve balls thrown your way over the years? I'm not a seller myself, just someone curious about this sort of stuff within the lego community.
>>
>>7199215
Basically the first few sales were very slow. People don't love taking risks on small stores with no feed back. Once I had a few reviews the sales were pretty steady. I recently lost some of my store's stock so I'm on a break till I get that sorted. My biggest issue/curve ball so far was random Chinese buyers wanting me to ship to them. Some offered good money, other wanted my domestic prices. If you have anything else you want to know, I can fill you in later.

Glad to hear tings picked up. I'm sorry to hear some of the stock was lost man, that sounds awful. Those random Chinese buyers sound interesting - did you end up shipping to them? I guess maybe it's tough for Chinese people to get legit lego, idk. Or were they trying to scam somehow?

Yeah, same here. Unfortunately most of their heads had really faded printing, and some of the replacements I got from Lego also had faded printing. I should really order some more green heads.

I'd like to see actual Vikings, and not operatic horns on helmet Vikings fighting the Midgard serpent, as awesome as that is. The real life Vikings travelled to so many places: some were guards in Byzantium, some played a role in the development of Kiev and later contributed to the name "Russia," some travelled across the Atlantic into what's now Canada, some travelled into the Mediterranean, and others ransacked across western Europe. Vikings even settled Iceland and Greenland. So much exploration and cultural exchange is fruitful material, but I doubt LEGO would go so far as to make something like a Lindisfarne 793 set. Even more boats, tho, would be sick. Or a great hall. Even just depicting something as simple as the farming life, which many led. More printed pieces with interlace patterns and runic inscriptions.

>>7199741
They've already made some Roman figures in some of the collectible minifigure series, so they could easily revisit those. There was a legion commander, soldier, gladiator, and what looks like a politician. I'd be happy if they even went with something more fantastic, like Amazonians, but that might be iffy given DC and Wonder Woman. Considering Alexander's conquest of Egypt and the later Roman affair there's already a historical 'in' to having elements of Egyptian, Roman, and Hellenistic culture represented under a single theme, tho.

Don't take offense to this, but what's the point of designing your own Star Wars moc of something like a Star Destroyer when there are already hundreds of proven designs that are the same exact size and look the exact same?

Thanks man. On the same note as the other post, the star destroyer itself is a remake of the brickdoctor's one from the ground up, so there is one very similar. His is pretty damn good and is the got to proven design for this scale, but there's some proportional problems with it that my autism can't stand. The bridge was too far forward, the superstructure on top was too small and the hangar was in the wrong place, among other things.

Last time i went to China real Lego literally cost 2x what it costs me back home (as with any western import); and Im Australian where Lego is already like 30% pricier than Us rrp.

If they didnt pay more than 2x over Us rrp shipping included it must of still been a good deal to them.

I wanna sell it but genuinely have no idea where to sell it or how since I dont really wanna sort it all.

What should I do? I genuinely have no idea what to do with all of it.
I dont really wanna just donate it since like its too much money lost to do that

Because when a parcel is scanned out as part of transit, what's actually happening is that it's being transferred to the next destination. When it arrives there it will then be scanned/accepted into that facility.

Further more, not every town/post office has a dedicated truck/route directly to them. Often times, a ULD of parcels will arrive at one facility and then be loaded onto another truck, that connects it. These connecting trucks are normally smaller trucks then the semies that travel the main routes. If it's a busy day and there's too many ULDs to fit on the smaller, connecting trucks, then the driver will take what he can and leave any that don't fit at the facility. They will then be picked up the following day with the next load.

>>7196122
Sometimes shit like this can happen because for one reason or another, a parcel is logged as being part of a consignment that doesn't not allow partial delivery.
This may be because it is part of a consignment and the other part hasn't arrived yet (see above). Sometimes its computer error. And sometimes it's the sender getting labels to send something as two separate items, then changing their minds and sending it as a single item, but not bothering to get a new label and instead just using one of the ines they already have.

Goddamn I fucking hate the Jews on BrickLink either Nicole and dining you on shipping or overcharging the fuck out of shipping. For an order I was about to place it had lakeside lodge for $20, a boxer for my downtown diner, a painter with paint roller for the diner to paint the detailing and 3 super battledroids at $1 a piece but holy shit $19 in “shipping” other times I see $10-$15 for a couple Minifigures. Even $3-$5 is bad for 2oz that can fit in a tiny paper envelope, I used to sell a lot of various things online averaging 10lb that shipped less for some of my orders. Absolutly ridiculous

The rules have changed, old man. You can't just put a minifig in a #10 envelope with a stamp and expect it to fly.
>>
>>7200212
separate minifigs, and "crystals". Grab all that classic lego pieces, and sell them for 5-10 cents each, and you'll make some money. Then, find somebody to check for your minifigs value, you might have some money under the roof in there.

Then... that person that will help you, might know the prices of everything, so just sell them to him or make a deal so that he/she/it may sell it for you, with a commission.

That's how you sell old lego.

> tfw I bought $300 in Lepin and LEGO parts and traded them in for $1,200 worth of real LEGO

I bought a bunch of lepin sets for a total of $300 then places some BL orders totaling $38 on parts to replace the lepin parts with visible studs with LEGO parts making it seem all LEGO including racing authentic legobbaseplates in. Took them to my local Bricks and Minifigures store and they did their not so thorough research on it and gave me a trade value of $1,200. Made out with a lot of Minifigures, Viking Fortress, Downtown Diner, Old Fishing Store, LEGO 2012 gunship, cafe corner, and tower of ortthac. Tbh they probably only lost $250 worth of profit since they buy things at 40 % their worth
>>
If you disregard that the at-at came with minifigs, these three are close to the same scale.

There's a minifigs statuette on the roof of the villa savoye
