Is this movie overrated garbage or am I missing something
>big twist is meant to be that it's a setup
>this is actually shown to us before the movie even introduces the main characters, and not in a subtle way either
>meant to be a comedy
>funniest thing so far is chris hemsworth riding a dirt bike into the force field, and even then it was just a nostril exhale
>character that is literally DUDE WEED
why is everyone like DUDE DON'T SPOIL IT GREAT TWIST
>>
You are a brainlet.
>>
>>103676475
There is no twist in the movie, the premise is straight forward and not played for subterfuge. Complaining about "DUDE WEED LMAO" man in a movie that's intentionally using tropes just makes you sound like some straight edge fag.

The movie is mildly entertaining and has one good scene, it's worth a watch, but it's not as good as fanwanking makes it seem.
>>
>>103676475
It's campy.
>>
Imagine being this rarted
>>
This movie is a critic to horror movies and Hollywood. Watch again with that in mind.
>>
>>103676475

Clearly the setup isn't meant to be a twist you retard.

Idk how anyone finds this good, Joss Whedon is a gay retard who invented the quipshit in capeshit movies. We can literally trace all this gay quip shit that's infested kinography back to joss. To like this movie means you like quipshit and should be fucking gassed.
>>
>>103676475
bretty good flick, I can see how brainlets might "overrate" it though.
>>
>>103676760
>Letting someone control you this much
lmao, just learn to separate the product from the creator retard. This is just as faggoty as the retards who go "[insert director here] made this movie so it is good"
>>
OP Here, got to when Dude weed and brunette with no personality get into the facility and now this movie is pretty fun, although that might be because of the gratuitous amount of blood and gore and the creative deaths
>>
>>103676475
it's a satire of the horror movie genre as a whole. but it still has the ability to be a classic styled 80s-90s horror film, this is mainly because it has a much larger group of targets and higher production value than other satires like rubber.
>>
>>103676760
Joss didn't even direct this lmao
>>
>>103676924
Fuck off adhd zoomer, get off your phone and actually watch the movie.
>>
>>103676924
Fuck off an don't come back until the movie is over faggot, wasting everyone's time with your opinion when you haven't even finished the film.
>>
>>103676475
Don’t spoil it refers to them letting all the monsters out in the end, which was one of the most kino 15 minutes of horror in the last 20 years you fucking dolt.
>>
>>103676956
I don't have ADHD, I only go on my phone if I'm genuinely not interested in the movie
>>
>>103677003
>I don't have ADHD I only get distracted easily
lmao fuck off tard.
>>
>>103677033
Get your eyes checked because that's not what I said at all.
>>
>>103676760
quips were in movies longer than one-liners. and they've been used in the silent film era, which ended around 1930.
>>
>>103677065
It's like a 90 minute movie, if you can't focus for that length of time without needing to shitpost, then you have ADHD.
>>
>>103677121
Alternatively if the movie isn't interesting enough to hold my attention for 90 minutes, it's shit.
>>
>>103676997
that was kino, and still kept true to the satire.
>main character(s) live only to do things that allow it to continue/get worse
>>
>>103677162
Yes, it's not you who is wrong, it's the movie.
>>
>>103677162

>>
>>103677065
>people process words with their eyes
umm ok...
>>

movies like Disaster Movie are satire, doesn't mean it's good.

Underage. Sage.
I hope your just autistical and not legit stupid.
>>
>>103676475
Not biased or anything, but this movie was a solid C+. If I'm being generous, I might give it a B-.

It wasn't supposed to be a "SUBVERTED YOUR EXPECTATIONS" kind of thing; it told you what would happen right in the beginning of the movie. Instead of playing it as some sort of plot-twist, it was more of like a "Haha, could you imagine if all these tropes existed for a reason? Why would that be? Let's make a world that revolves around rationalizing these tropes", and then it just kind of took you along for the ride.

The DUDE WEED LMAO guy was kind of annoying, they didn't use all the monsters they had to their full potential, the ending was kind of shitty, and I didn't really like any of the characters except for based Hemsworth.

All in all, the movie wasn't as great as everyone shitting their pants would have you believe, but it's definitely something I would watch if I was scrolling through the tube and happened to come across it. It probably might even beat out Kitchen Nightmares and Bizarre Foods too.
>>
>>103677275
just confirmed for underaged
direct parodies of specific movies in a comedy doesn't a satire make.
>>
>>103677312
Also, I wish there were scenes where the containment unit operators actually did something other than die. I want there to be scenes where personnel both die in a horribly one-sided massacre, and scenes where those operators actually manage to put up something of a fight; completely ignoring the stoner dude and the girl as they walk right between the crossfire because they've got bigger, more pressing matters at hand than capturing some girl, like saving their own skins from being mutilated by spiders and robots.

I travel around the world going to horror conventions and the only people who find this film le epic are neckbeards who have no clue about any of the classic horror movies this film pokes fun at.

The ending and plot are hokey as fuck for the budget it was given.
>>
>>103677694
it's like when those hipster "deep thinker" sjws find fritz the cat to be cool and epic, when they're the exact kind of people the comics and movie satire

I just thought it was a sort of fun film to watch with some friends and I wasnt let down overall, its not meant to be taken that seriously anyway

You're genuinely straight up retarded. You have no idea what a fucking twist is. Thick as pig shit. Cabin in the Woods is an immensely entertaining movie, great stuff. Autistic faggot.
>>
>>103677694
>>103677760
Cringe. People enjoy this movie because it's fun. I bet you're the kind of faggot who thinks Behind the Mask or Tucker & Dale are good. Both are as Reddit as you can get. Likely the kind of brainlets who mindlessly parrot "Scream is a genius deconstruction of the horror genre" just because equally as retarded critics said it, when Scream is nothing of the sort, it's just a generic slasher film.
>>
>>103678788
scream is a classic slasher but cabin in the woods is satire. it's fun but it's not a horror movie meant to do anything but satirize the genre.

I didnt think cabin in the woods could go over anyone's head but /tv/ continues to surprise.

I dont really think this movie is overpraised or overrated hey everytime there is a thread on here about it that's all anyone sizes it up against. It was just well made and decently funny everyone acts like people were claiming it was citizen fucking kane though. And then you have morons riding the whole "oh ppl think its 2deep4u durrr" bullshit. When no one thinks that. It's just clever.
Why cant a film just be good and allowed to be called that?

As much as I hate sequels, i wish they made one for this movie. It was good but it felt underwhelming and that they could’ve done way more with it
>>
>>103680088
Dont think that ending sets up for much of a sequel my guy. Also riding the premise of trope satire probably wouldn't fly twice
>>
>>103680088
The Great Old Ones awakened from their slumber and destroyed the world, why would you want a sequel if the story is already finished?
>>
>>103680348
Maybe a satire of horror sequels? Like the unnecessary or overabundent ones? Though I’d rather just see some spinoffs about the monsters. Would be fun to see a campy horror movie focused on that killer robot.

Cabin in the woods is the reddit movie by excellence, the one that defines reddit and onions horror garbage.
Only liked by the dumbest pseuds because it's tongue in cheek and mocking something. Just a bad movie, the only redeeming quality is that you need to 'get it xD' and thus are part of the special reddit club of friggin patricians
>>
I have never seen a thread filled with this much s-o-y, cringe and fedora-tipping before. Joss Whedon is reddit incarnate, you plebs.

>dude, it's so subversive
>whoah, did you ever notice that the slut and the stoner always die in horror films?
>you feel really smart watching it.

Fucking Scary Movie was more clever than this self-congratulatory trash.

Yeah that's my biggest gripe with this movie (second biggest is that it's just kind of boring and not that fun in exploring horror cliches)

It's one of those 'ITS SUPPOSED TO BE SHIT, GET IT HAHA?' movies.

Every time this movie is discussed none of the movie's qualities are actually mentioned, the only thing this movie has going for it is that it's subversive, that's it.
You can't really criticize it either because 'dude it's supposed to be bad you don't get it'. It's a very cheap tactic
>>
>>103683669
satire isn't supposed to be outright haha funny
>>
>>103680088
They could do one about the failed european base.Or pull a east coast base out of their ass.
>>
>>103683669
And unoriginal at that. When your movie's selling point is that it points out horror tropes with the subtlety of a sledgehammer, the least you can do is to be funny about it. The insulting thing about this flick is that it thinks it's smart, when this stuff has been done to death for decades. Scary Movie is hardly a great series, but at least they didn't take themselves so seriously, and they at the very least tried to be fun. When your subversive and satirical horror parody is dumber than a franchise that prides itself on how retarded it is, you know you're in for a lame experience.

Watching Cabin In The Woods is like sitting next to a redditor at a party who just discovered George Carlin and atheism.
