>>81874679ChanI love you Edge_Lord but don't mess with my waifu. Reminder that Wose rather prefer to insist in have Handy as bf than the Doctortho
>>81874650Yeah, his writing isn't what it used to be. Shadow Police, his comics, and even his Twitter don't have that spark he used to have. If anything, he reached his creative peak in the early 90s writing VNAs. And it's generally a bad thing if your best writing came from your mid twenties. I read that Third Doctor comic, and it just felt like a run of the mill "doing it because it's easy money" PDA than something Cornell in his 90s would have pulled off.I haven't read Chalk yet, so maybe that's good.
>tfw didnt care for clara whilst she was here but now depressed that's she gone and never coming back
>>81874668I absolutely loved Matt's theme (aka I am The Doctor)It was magical in its time.
>>81874735she's obviously going to come back for 12's regeneration
How did you react? I was pretty shaken desu, didn't expect that at all.https://youtu.be/j_Z-8FKN_lw
>>81874668Murray Gold should finally leave the show when Moffat does and be replaced by someone like Daniel Pemberton, if the BBC can still afford him.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEsLdP1kS2U
>>81874781It was definitely a 'holy shit what's going on' moment
>>81874758It's super fun, really great bit of music. Maybe used too much, but I understand the impulse, it was great, it was iconic, it's fun to listen to.Me personally, I love this theme https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JpbE_sVabI Never gotten sick of it. I really love the flow of it, the way the big chords are kind of off where you'd expect them to hit. It really suits Capaldi IMO.It's weird how 9s theme gets reused for 10 sometimes (and 12 in Class, maybe, depending what regen saved Charlie). Oh and in Hell Bent. I don't mind at all, and it's a great bit of music, but they don't do that with Matt's theme really. Actually they might have in Death in Heaven before 12 gave his I am in Idiot speech, unless I'm misremembering.>>81874782I wouldn't be opposed to that, but I kinda like Murray as connective tissue between multiple DW eras. Who else has always been there in NewWho? Briggs? Gatiss?
>>81874781I expected it because it got leaked on the internet hours beforehand.
>>81874735>>81874777Chan I think she will come back for his regeneration along with Tennant and Matt since one of his last acts before regenerating is to join his Tardis to freeze Gallifrey along with the 1st Doctor. We already saw his last scene when he was announced in The Day of the Doctor so no new Tardis in Capaldi's run tho
>>81874708>>81874781>tfw Danny Pink Husbando Anon is obviously embarassed after getting BTFO in the last thread, and is now feebly trying to make discussion>tfw neo-old-cloister and danny fighting is giving us a war of trips trying to produce interesting conversation>tfw trips are actually doing some good for once
>>81874700Yes. Nothing that is even remotely appropriate to be posting on a SFW board, though. (But if you have Rose/Ten requests I will absolutely add them to the art request queue!) >>81874719I'm running on a caffeine and adrenaline high from having to rush to get the garbage out on time. >>81874781how did she shoot that many times at the astronaut and not only not hit it, but not hit the water either?
Who's a writer /who/ likes that should do a Big Finish audio? While none of the books really stood out as great, I thought BBC's attempt to get successful authors like Alistair Reynolds and Michael Moorcock to write Doctor Who novels was an interesting idea.
>>81874827anime is for nerds, edgey
>>81874802post yfw Clala's theme starts to play when 12th decides to brainwash Bill
>>81874834This is as fanwank as it comes, but I'd love a Gatiss Big Finish series of Gatiss playing the Doctor, on scripts Gatiss also wrote. I don't really like Gatiss' episodes but he clearly has a very particular taste, and I think letting him completely off the leash would actually be best for him. Plus I like him as an actor.>>81874827Aw now I wanna see those pics :( Maybe in the Mega one day :)>>81874854see pic

Somehow she knew it was her and didn't want to shoot herself. I don't know, I seem to remember Moffat explained that but I'm not sure. >>81874854>tfw
Is there any way to get Big Finish audios into casualwhostream? Would be cool to shitpost to Zagreus or something sometime.
So why did the BBV make another PROBE film? 20 years after the rest of the series and after Caroline John died? Not even Big Finish would do that. It'd be like if they brought back the Sarah Jane Smith audios with a soundalike actor.https://youtu.be/3T_qWJY5j3c
>>81874668>Should Big Finish hire more new writers?Big yes
>>81874896I don't know whether Cytube can stream audio files or not? I don't think any bigfinish audios have videos on youtube/dailymotion.
what do you think he's up to now?
>>81874982What, you don't like Ma....Matt..*yawn*Sorry...hard to not doze off when even thinking of a Matt Fitton story :/
>>81874884>I think she knew?she knew not to hit the water? Was she just firing blanks?
>>81874870I don't like gatiss' writing but it could be interesting to throw him an Unbound audio and see what he does with it
>>81874960Cornell seemingly hadn't watched Series 8 at the time of writing this, so 12 sounds nothing like he should. 10 and 11 bring in their OC comic companions, which is all right, but feels a little weird when they're hanging out with Clara. Cornell brings back the Voord and tries to make them seem fresh and new, but it doesn't work as well as he thinks it should. Feels no better than what Briggs did with them.
>>81874852Fuk u, Bubblegum Crisis is great it's just animu Blade Runner. Please for the love of god don't associate me with liking anime, I can count the number of animes I like on one fucking hand>>81874992Sounds like he's Big FINISHED.>hurrhurrnobodyhasevermadethatjokebefore
>>81875003>>81875023"Sam Kisgart" is an anagram for Mark Gatiss. He plays the Master.I agree that letting him be the Doctor outright in an Unbound series would be awesome though!Honestly wouldn't even mind him being the legit Doctor on TV...he really is quite a good actor and has the right sort of weird energy for the role IMO...
>>81875028>I can count the number of animes I like on one fucking handis one of them yuri on ice? Because that seems like a thing you'd be into
>>81875023Yeah, I know about these, but you were talking about an audio where gatiss gets to play the Doctor and writes it tooWhat's that Bernice boxset like? Unbound is one of my favourites ranges but I felt a bit weird hearing they were doing this
>>81875002>RIVER: So do I, all the time. Have to. Spoilers. Pretending I don't know you're my mother, pretending I don't recognise a space suit in Florida. She was pretending?
>>81875048Of course she knew she was the astronautbut in the camera shots of the astronaut walking into the lake, there's no impact splashes for the bullets that clearly don't hit the astronaut
>>81875028>not watching a minimum of a hundred anime like /a/It's weird. New Who came out right when I finished the first Fullmetal Alchemist and petered out of anime for a few months after that.
>>81875044My bad, I jumped the gun!I haven't heard the Benny boxset yet, I should get around to that. Pretty wild idea.Any anons here heard it?
Now how did you react to this? I thought that was a shit show, probably Moffat's worst finale and possibly the worst of NuWhohttps://youtu.be/lGDC0n89nhA>>81875061They didn't bother putting them in? I mean, I don't think they thought anyone would scrutinise such details.
>>81875088it seems like such an obvious thing thoughit was the first thing I noticed when watching it just then
>>81875075Don't worry, I haven't even finished listening to all the Unbound audios, and I go around saying they're my favourite.
>>81875088It was so shit, that someone quoted it here a few days ago and an anon thought it was from another shitty scene from the next series.Moffat thought this was so good, he did it twice.
>>81875088I'm a big fan of Moffat. Series 8 and 9 are my favourite series of Doctor Who, ever. I think overall he's probably the best writer in Doctor Who history. But The Wedding of River Song is a fucking terrible, redeemable, grating piece of shit. I hate it. It is terrible. Series 6 has tonnes of problems, and I'd even take a dull series like 2 or 7 over it, but Christ, that finale was nearly unforgivable. Nobody acts like real people in it. Nothing is paid off well, and not in a clever meta "play with expectations" way, in a terrible "first draft while I spend more time on Sherlock" way.

>>81875042Nope>>81875066 .Hack//SIGN Neon Genesis Evangelion Bubblegum Crisis Madoka Witch Hunter Robin >Living up to my trip
>>81875168It's definitely one of the better ones - personally I'd give Master or A Death in the Family top spot, but in general the Seven/Ace stuff was really strong until Gods and Monsters ruined everything.

Why are the 4DAs so bad?I'm not asking if they're bad, I've heard enough to know that. But what exactly has made them so bad? The writing? The overall concept?Yes, the Hinchcliffe box set is good. But the 4DAs. What happened there?
does /who/ approve of an anime doctor?
>>81875102Can't say I paid attention at the time but I noticed on further viewings. Just thought they were lazy. >>81875136Holy shit, what was the quote? Need to have a laugh right now. >>81875138Basically the same, I was so disappointed. The pay off to the arc was ridiculous and not nearly as clever as it thought it was, and I hated this whole "Amy never met Rory" shitty subplot. As if they'd be in the same train. Oh and how can River even be there? That's just a few of the massive issues this episode has. It's terrible.
>>81875240>Gods and MonstersAh yes, the Ancestor Cell of Big Finish.
>>81875271I've had a really autistic idea for what a Doctor Who anime would look like, where it would be kind of a reboot, but with enough going on in the background to make the viewer realize there's something off about the timeline.
>>81875168>>81875240Master would be my favourite so far but personally I enjoyed Shadow of the Scourge more than I did Colditz. That was a lot of fun and I'd never heard Benny before.

>>81875266I'd like to know about this too
>>81875330>oh look! rocks!wew I thought that was more obscure
>>81875266Maybe because even compared to how traditional some of the other audios are, Briggs is overly reverential to the Tom Baker era. So he refuses to do anything new with Four in favor of "It's Saturday Night teatime in 1979 all over again".

>>81875379Sounds like it'd be a ton of comfy stories then, not sure what the problem is
I support of a Renegade Master Doctor.
>>81875498Some of them can be - I kind of like Wrath of the Iceni for giving Tom a pure historical if nothing else, and the Jago and Litefoot one's alright - but on the other hand Destination Nerva might be the most generic story ever told
>>81875488The Doctor's Wife is a terrible episode.
>>81875394This was a few days ago, but I'm almost certain you did. I don't remember what I said though. It's not like he's working on Broadchurch anymore ;_;>>81875488>"THE ASIAN CHILD"Terminator Master is best Master
>>81875584Think it was a few weeks ago, that does sound about right though. The TV show is definitely a bit overrated and the film is transcendent.
>>81875584>When is the next volume of 10's Big Finish stories going to come out? It's not like he's working on Broadchurch anymore ;_;IIRC they said in the podcast (or Vortex, or DWM, or just online, I can never keep my BF info streams straight...) it's just a matter of scheduling. Could take quite a while, Tennant is very busy and only wants to do the audios if his costar is actually there with him on the day.I have no idea if doing any audios with Rose or Martha are in the cards, or if they wanna stick with Tennant/Tate. Remember Tennant takes a massive paycut for them so it's pretty much what he wants I'd imagine. He'll definitely be in the 60th anniversary audio one way or another.

>>81875728No source IIRC but didn't sound crazy or anything, could be true>>81875717If you didn't know about regeneration, how did the start of series 6 play for you, where the Doctor fakeout regenerates, and River regenerates?

>>81875786Depends on the writer. Please let it be Dorney.
>>81875764I thought the Doctor really died in the beggining of the season but somehow he knew it he would die so we would see him trying to avoid his death through the season. About River I thought she had used some sort of stone or technology to change her appearence for disguise
>>81875652I can't believe it's almost been a year since vol 1. Given how few and far between they're gonna be, I hope the next Tennant release changes things up. Maybe have a main range style audio to see what it's like to have 10 in a classic series paced story.
>>81875801Why do you like Dorney's gay fanfics, anon?
>>81875827The first River Song set was pretty much her own thing, a pretty self-contained story (8 was heavily in the marketing but in the end just a very minor part of a story). Then her second set was more balls to the wall fanwanky stuff (still great, just more continuity focused is all I mean). I imagine the same might happened with 10. A more self-contained, safer 1st set, then go crazier with the 2nd ste.>>81875834Not that anon, but a big fan of Dorney too. He just...understands characterisation. And writers like Fitton...don't, at all.>>81875821What about series 7 referencing past doctors all the time

>>81875488I'm not emotionally invested in disliking fear her or love and monsters, and I think both episodes had comfy aspects and potential to be genuinely good if they had better actors and used a different monster

When I was 14 and just discovered the show by skimming the wiki article, I thought Doctor Who was a wacky sitcom/game show where all the Doctors were like Carmen Sandiego.

Does Moffat cast his companions based on their feet or something?
>>81876049I used to listen to them just sitting in my room, yeah. But it feels like it takes a bit of commitment and I don't know if I have the attention span for it right now. >>81876826Moff is honestly fucking fantastic at deploying retcons in ways to improve past stories. It's another reason I love The Time of the Doctor. For a show like Doctor Who, built on not having a canon, being able to creatively retcon not just to tidy up settings for a new story, but to actively IMPROVE previous stories...it's really something.Yet he fucked the Time War up bad IMO, but still>>81876852Anon :'(

>>81876166I went the London one and been the Cardiff one twice, once when it was Matt Smith and then again August 2015, when Capaldi was in it. It's pretty decent, went with my family who are only casual viewers and they seemed to enjoy the museum bit almost as much as me. The museum part is the best part and never really seems to get busy as they only let a certain amount of people in each time after the walkthrough part. Spent 4 days in Cardiff, went on a walking tour and bus tour of different filming locations, felt like a DWSR...

Y'know what? I like Bill. She's kinda ditzy, but not completely stupid, shows humility bordering on self-deprecation, thirsty enough to be amusing instead of pathetic, has some little hints of depth to be explored later...I'll just go ahead and assume /tv/ doesn't like her, but fuck it, she's cool so far.
>“With Matt I had a sort of idea that his entire run should be in the pre-math of a battle he’s having at the end of his life,” Moffat told RadioTimes.com exclusively at the BFI and Radio Times Television Festival this weekend (see video below). “But with Peter I wasn’t quite sure. I wasn’t sure for a long time whether I’d be writing him out or whether he’d be carrying on with [new showrunner] Chris Chibnall.>“That fits his Doctor, though,” the screenwriter went on, before hinting that this less mapped-out path would be echoed in Capaldi’s regeneration.“His Doctor feels sort of impulsive and in the moment and would do something reckless that you wouldn’t expect. That suits me.>“And I mean, you can overstate the difficulty of planning a finale for a Doctor. In the end, any Doctor Who story has such catastrophe going on in it, that he could be the one that gets the rock on his head. “But I think I’m really happy with what we’re doing for his finale. I’m just working on it now. It’s quite early. I should be further through it, but there you go.”Capaldi's regeneration is gonna be GOAT.

>>81877529Holy shit, doing Moffat's work.
>>81878488Wait just a minute here...
>>81878223I actually liked Bill. That screen test they showed a while back after she was cast made me think she was going to be shit like Donna was but she was played better in the actual episode. I don't give a shit if she's a lesbian or not, she didn't act like a shouty bitch who jumped at shadows the moment she first saw a monster. Also MIssy isn't really a regenerated Master, she's a regenerated Rani fucking around with the Doctor. >>81878696Moffat's always been a magnificent troll. And his last troll is to get people to miss him.
>>81878734>landwale feministsWhy do I feel like this isn't entirely about Doctor Who
>>81878720It makes 0 sense, none of what Missy does actually ties into (what little there was) of the Rani's characterisation. Is it just "uhhh Missy is a girl, Rani is a girl, wouldn't be cool if they were the same girl and the Master was a man"? Missy is a great synthesis of Simm's style of performance with Delgado's type of relationship with the Doctor. The Rani isn't a femMaster, she's a (pretty crap, but still) distinctive character of her own. Moffat undoing characterisation just to make le epic twists tying into Classic Who continuity is precisely what he SHOULDN'T be doing. I hate the idea.>>81878729lmao, really, or are you just kidding?
>>81878612>versailles starDon't they mean Confessions of Dorian Gray star?
>>81876681>Reminder that Chris is 10 and David is 11 and 12.
>>81878761It's about not giving into demands by easily upset contrarians who won't watch the product tailored to appease them instead just want to moan. So it is about Doctor Who and also about other things people are trying to change. If people are so upitty about James Bond and Doctor Who not being black female feminists, why don't they just create new IPs based around characters with those qualities rather than trying to "fix" what isn't broke?
>>81878642Okay. That's good. >agendaThing is, she's actually a character. It'd be obvious if she were just a token meant to pander. Again, she's a genial, mildly thirsty ditz who's excited to see cool shit. The fact she's black and gay seems more "why the fuck not" rather than a cynical viewer grab. Sure, they'll probably explore that a little down the line, but still.
