I wish someone made a Dear Meadow edit of Fire Walk With Me using The Missing Pieces.

I don't like the idea of combining all of the cut material into one big movie, because I think Laura's story suffers from doing that. But if you leave all of Twin Peaks out of it and just put in the extra Dear Meadow / Philadelphia stuff, it'd make for one hell of a Twin Peaks episode.

It hurts a little bit to imagine what Lynch could have accomplished if he had explored Dear Meadow on the show instead of abandoning it after revealing the killer. Instead of the dumb slapstick hijinks of the 2nd half, we could explore Sam and Desmond for a couple of episodes, until Desmond's disappearance, after which Cole would send Cooper to head out there and help Sam with the investigation.

Soon he could start having dreams again that would tie his disappearance to Laura with the ring. Meanwhile in Twin Peaks, they could explore the towns guilt, having known about Laura on some level but chosen to ignore it, and now with Maddy dead they're left reeling from that too.

That scene sucked.

Cheap shock value shit, kid getting murdered, but it ends up playing no actual role on the show. Richard is probably my main gripe with season 3 when it comes to how it was edited, there's just no movement at all and it doesn't make sense in a way that is annoying.

Why wouldn't the sheriff's station be busy with this? I mean a little child dies and all they do is send out Andy to ask the owner of the truck some questions, they don't even bring him in for questioning, he doesn't even pester him, just agrees to meet him later.

I don't get it.

I love how they inadvertently made everything about Windom Earle lame, like look at this little faggot prancing around and smiling at his own brilliance, as if his master disguises are actually anything but total buffoonery.

I wonder what Mark Frost was thinking at the time, if he actually thought this was an intimidating bad guy. I don't see the self awareness to be honest, it just seems like an embarrassing creation.

My favorite part of that is when Cole returns to Twin Peaks and Cooper starts wearing the suit again, those couple of episodes were pretty comfy and good.

But rewatching it, it is surprising how there's a little bit of good fun material in even the worst of the worst episodes, but even so almost all of it is dumb. A lot of Lodge mythology that gets laid out in S02E10 and 11 for example.

I don't know, felt like a really shallow and hacky imitation of Lynch. She should have just done her own thing instead of this really blatant and unsubtle thing. That episode feels so smarmy and ironic, nothing feels believable.

There were some funny moments in the episode, like the bizarre direction for Dana as Bobby in the scene where him and Shelly get questioned about Leo running off. That scene in general is good, especially Albert's enthusiastic reappearance and bromance with Harry.

Episode is too tryhard though, irritatingly so. I'd say it is one of the worst episodes in the series. It definitely looks better than all the other episodes during this streak, but having seen all of them recently, I can say with certainty that I enjoy the material in the other episodes more, they have some genuinely good character moments, even if they're few and far between.

Diane's approach to humor is definitely "smarter" than the slapstick of these other episodes, but ends up being more annoying than fun due to how artificial it feels. If anybody wanted a good example of a pretentious hour of television, I'd definitely point to this episode, it is an episode that hits none of its marks yet is obnoxiously flamboyant. All flash, zero substance.

Final shot is cool though.

>>
>>88686309
I would say that everything but Gordon Cole returning (which is too fleeting to feel really substantial) is too wacky for its own good. It's just there are components to the other storylines that are enjoyable, the cocaine one for example has a lot of good material in it, so does Windom and Andrew Packard despite being outrageously silly and dumb. Just those few moments with Pete and Andrew make for good viewing.

>I'm only just now understanding why Gordon kept turning off his hearing aids to talk to Albert...
He kept on turning his hearing aid all the way up to talk to Albert. He didn't turn it off. The whole point was people could talk to him at a normal volume and he could hear them OK because he had his hearing aid up so loud that little noises like a knock on the door would be the equivalent of him hearing a loud explosion.

I’m like halfway through The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer for yhe first time and Christ, this is I think the first time I’ve wanted to put down a book because of the emotional response it gets in me. Fucking heavy stuff
>>

Yes, Season 1 and Season 2 are not canon as proven by Cooper's "past dictates the future", alteration of the past, and the resulting altered history of the town.

underrated dubs of philosophical insight. Season 3 is about the physical and spiritual mechanisms by which archetypal cycles of creation and destruction manifest themselves within the human experience. This is the eternal return, to and from being.

>people fail to notice what they do when awake, just as they forget what they do while asleep.
>We both step and do not step in the same rivers. We are and are not.
You BOTH can and cannot return.
>There is a harmony in the bending back of the bow and the lyre.
At the heart of everything is a fundamental tension. Central to this tension is the interplay of opposites. Electricity my anons.

Why didn't we get anything more on the rewritten history? All Cooper does is go to another dimension after changing the past. Is the place he's in now the new future, or is it someplace else entirely?

Is he just a lodge spirit now? Why is he back in the lodge after saving Laura in the past and retreading the moments from the second episode?

Judy got snatched up, he turns to his left and beholds a golden light. The occurrences in the lodge subsequent to this are where he goes when the light appears, himself appearing with MIKE staring at him again.

These scenes are all new material. Except for one — the scene with Laura whispering. Cooper's remembering that. Just like Nadine watching Dr. Amp, identical but temporally distinct.

S02E17 feels like such a big step up from the previous run of episodes, they really got their shit together after the hiatus of the Josie death episode.

S02E18 is just straight up good. Gordon Cole is so good here. It's such a feel good episode, one of the comfiest episodes in the series.
>>
>>88709348

Yeah but there's still the whole "Windom being shoehorned into the main villian role" going on. Jesus the giant chess piece was so fucking stupid especially being on one of the last episodes
>>
>>88709511
Yeah, at least Episode 18 is not his worst outing, his outfits are, as always pretty silly but the scene with Audrey was at least a little amusing.
