>Fans noted that in his final face-off with Kylo Ren/Ben Solo, Luke Skywalker drew his blue lightsaber, following the barrage from the new AT-M6 walkers on the salt planet of Crait that left him unscathed and Kylo rather vexed.
>However, this is the same blue lightsaber than Kylo and Rey were fighting over on Snoke’s ship, the one that ended up being split in twain.
>Surely Kylo would have spotted that Luke was using the blue lightsaber, the iconic weapon inherited from his dad, Anakin Skywalker, particularly considering Kylo is a bit of a Darth Vader fanboy?
>“[Luke] is basically tailoring this projection to have maximum effect on Kylo,” Johnson told IGN.
>“He knows that Kylo’s Achilles heel is his rage, and so that’s why he kind of makes himself look younger, the way Kylo would’ve last seen him in their confrontation at the temple, and that’s why he decided to bring Kylo’s grandfather’s lightsaber down there — the lightsaber that Kylo screamed at Rey, ‘that’s mine, that belongs to me.’”
>So it’s all a bit of a mind game, on Luke’s part then. But how come Kylo didn’t spot it?
>Johnson has an answer for that too.
>“We as an audience saw that… The truth is, we see the lightsaber split in half — Kylo sees a blinding flash of light and is knocked unconscious, and then Rey takes the lightsaber away before he wakes up.
>“So if you really want to dig into it and get an explanation, you can say that he doesn’t 100 percent know what happened to the lightsaber.”
>Maybe he thought Rey had grabbed it and legged it – how she actually managed to leg it and find Chewie and the Falcon is quite another matter – and then it got back, somehow, into the hands of Luke.
>Or perhaps he wasn’t, in his rage, paying attention to what colours things were.
>But, according to Johnson, it was all done on purpose, and totally not a mistake or a plot hole or anything like that.
>>

Don't tell me idiots are going to believe him?

they really are going all in with the damage control, aren't they?

>the director of a mainstream blockbuster movie has to explain why and how things are happen in his movie
is there a bigger proof of failure?
>>
>>93107933
Then why did Luke project that to Leia too.

And more importantly, to fucking C3PO a fucking Droid who should not be able to fucking see him!
>>
>>93107933
If you have to explain it, you failed Rian.
>>
What the fuck? Directors never damage control like this. (ghost busters doesn't count)
>>
>>93108529
Too much subversion to the point where the audience can no longer point out the obvious. To me it was obvious Kylo only saw a blinding flash of light before being knocked unconscious and obviously believed Rey took the lightsaber and gave it to Luke. That was actually the most obvious part of the movie. Obviously.

every moment of this flick was terrible

desu neither of these things were problems I had with it. Kylo is a ragelord it makes sense he would be blinded from details.

This is by far the most dumb ass explanation ever.

Thats only half the point, Luke turning up with blue sabre when its his sisters life on the line is just wreckless. Why not just use green to reduce the chance of Kylo spotting it?

For all he knew Hux or anybody else in the first order could have pointed it out or Kylo might not have been as rageblind as he expected
>>
>>93107933
Who gives a fuck??

This was the least of complaints about the movie
>>
Why would Kylo notice either way, idiots? You can't make out what the hilt is unless you hold it up to your face. For all he knew Luke just lost his green saber and got a blue one or something.
>>
>“[Luke] is basically tailoring this projection to have maximum effect on Kylo,” Johnson told IGN.
Yeah, Kylo wouldn't notice that Luke didn't age in 30 years. What was the point in making Luke look younger although he only looked like shit. Rian Soyboy doesn't even know what he was doing, he was probably torn up between a couple of ideas and ended up doing nonsensical stuf just because. Also having Kathleen Kennedy on his back 24/7 mustn't have been easy
>>
>guy who disappeared after he tried to kill you years ago suddenly appears
>character is emotional and prone to fits of rage
>is in this moment, supposed to stop and think "hey, how does he have that lightsaber?"
>is supposed to notice from a distance that he has the same one and decide that Luke is a hologram despite him being capable of creating lightsabers and likely teaching Ben how to do it
Both sides in this are fucking retarded.
>>
If you have to make an essay about it, then you already fucked up as a film maker desu.

Ben is in his 20s, so under 10 years.
>>
>>93107933
this wasn't even an issue, only retards where confused at this scene.

are you fucking retarded? He has been losing his blonde since anh and its been like 30 years.
>>
>>93108110
not really

I mean having to explain shit is stupid but what about the million other plot holes

Has anyone explained why the asian girl stops Finn from suicide attacking with motivational poster advice the very scene after Holdo suicide attacks?
>>
all they had to do was make it so luke was actually there, make his death occur during the sunset, have it so that stupid planet had two suns, fucking stupid
>>
>>93110705
Yeah, or Kylo could've thought 'No fucking way Luke Skywalker is so utterly dumb that he forgets which lightsaber he's supposed to have - it must be real!'. TLJ really is very intellectual.

Threadly reminder that Daisy Ridley doesn't like Last Jedi (and probably not even Star Wars):

Have you noticed that all the Star Wars movies have progressively sucked as they keep trying to make Star Wars more dark and gritty?

Have you noticed how everyone loves Star Trek until they recently started trying to make she shows really dark and gritty?

Remember how much you enjoyed the Xmen back when you were a kid watching the cartoon that was all campy. Then they made the shitty movies that were all dark and gritty. And now recently the top cape movies have been practically comedies... Guardians 2, Deadpool, Thor Ragnarok all cartoony and campy.

You know dark they tried to make Rogue One. Nu-wars is all about suffering and barely hanging on to life and watching friends die all around you. Compare that to "farm boy and pals go on wacky space adventure"

It's like this shit really needs to stop being so serious about the story and just be fuckin fun again.
>>
>>93113097
If you want FUN go watch the prequels. "Grittiness" isn't why Soy Wars is awful.
>>
>>93113097
I will definitely never buy another ticket if they try making Star Wars even more goofy. I don't watch Star Wars to piss myself laughing. Are you really that embarrassed by scifi/fantasy that you need to watch everything through a lens of ironic humor?
>>
>>93113097
>and just be fuckin fun again.

Every single joke in TLJ sucked and contributed to how fucking bad that movie was. The prank call to Hux made me want to walk out of the cinema, five minutes in.
>>
>>93107933
Seeing Luke would make Kylo rage so much he would not think about it logically.
Luke sets up everything to trigger Kylo and make him go full retard.
>>
>>93113097
But Return of the Sith is a great movie and also the darkest one.
