Debate this

I mean much like Jurassic park 2, I saw small soldiers when I was young and loved it but its actually quite bad.

patrician is Toy Story 2
>>
>>94604023
Patrician recognizes that all the Toy Story movies are soulless commercial trash banking on manufactured nostalgia

My professor today gave a mini-rant about toy story being garbage. Basically he said it's about "loving your stuff" and that it demonizes children that have grown out of their toys like the main antagonist. Also the writing is inconsistent; buzz thinks he's an actual astronaut yet when humans are in the room he stays stiff. Why would he do that unless he knew he was a toy? Also Tim Allen is not funny in anything.

I liked both sorry sweetie

>Doesn't know what a toy is
>Thinks they are natives from the planet
>Natives freak out and stand still when overpowered giant comes into the room
>Like really, they freak out like they fear for their lives
>Not doing the same to avoid the incoming danger

Plus it's a fucking child's movie
>>

This.

Both movies are kino

>Basically he said it's about "loving your stuff" and that it demonizes children that have grown out of their toys like the main antagonist.
But that is not the antagonist in any of the movies. It's always someone who doesn't treat toys right.
>Evil kid="tortures" them
>Fat dude= Keeps them in boxes for his collection.
>Lotso= Fear of being left behind so starts a mafia in a daycare, letting the newer or less ideologically sound toys serve as the working class taking all the harm.
Fuck, The main point of the last movie was Andy moving on and leaving his fucking toys to a next generation and is never put in a bad light. Except for the toy life crisis Woody has in two
Your Professor literally sounds autistic.
P.S. The Toy Story series are the only good Pixar movies and are even better than most disney movies.
>>
>>94604823
>the antagonist is anyone who doesn't laud over their merchandise
Literally coddling material commercialism, that's exactly what his professor said
>>
>>94604295
your prof sounds liek a real contrarian faggot who just HAS to say bad shit about famous movies to show how much he knows his shit.
people like him never have any friends and die alone in a corner at home with the lights off next to a bottle 40
>>
>>94604895
But isn't that what the fat dude did in 2 though?
>>
>>94604895
But it literally insults people who do and shows that you have to eventually give your toys to the next generation. I doubt you or the professors have actually seen the movie.
The whole point of two was too show the off the manchild epidemic.

Nah he's a pretty cool dude and he's knowledgable about his stuff. He has a wife and kids and he got them a switch for xmas.

lol

>a switch for xmas.
Looks like his children are going to be the very thing he hates. Does he refuse to let them play with their toys too?
>>
>>94603792
Right one is pure shit. There is no debate.
>>
>>94605388

Your opinion is just a toy.
>>
>>94605037
>you have to eventually give your toys to the next generation
Or throw them away when you grow out of them?
The "Continue the cycle of joys of toys!" is literally what caused the manchild epidemic
>>
>>94605267
>>94605268

Give him the benefit of the doubt, guys. Maybe he means like a "switch" you get from a tree.
>>
>>94603792

No debate at all, Small Soldiers is a masterpiece. Dante is brilliant.
>>
>>94604295
today? did he watch toy story 3 where andy learns to let go of the past and move onward with his life? i'm pretty sure that wasn't demonizing children who grow out of their toys. toy story taught kids to treat their belongings respectfully.
>>
>>94604295
your professor is the kind os stupid person who thinks he's inteligent enough to criticize popular things. Toy Story is not about "toys". It's about being replaced by someone new, it's about giving up on being the leader, coping with being forgotten by your friends. That's the main plotline. The subplot, that follows Buzz, is equally devastating, as the astronaut is forced to understand the reality he believed was a lie and he was only one of millions just like him. Those are all very interesting thematics and the way they are treated is very mature for a children's movie. You could even fit a critique to capitalism in it if you want to. But brainlets can't possibly see that.
>>
>>94605510
>The "Continue the cycle of joys of toys!" is literally what caused the manchild epidemic
I am pretty sure it is the horrible parental guidance and Disillusioned with society that is causing it, not giving hand me downs to a little girl that iirc was pretty poor.

>>
>>94605663
So your Professor is a hypocrite? Shouldn't they be studying for the spelling Bee instead of playing with pointless toys? Why did he waste 350$ on something that they will just throw away when they become Adults?
>>

>>94605613

Like I said it was a brief rant because he didn't want to detract too much of the class lecture. He mainly criticized the first movie. His main argument was that the bully/antagonist/kid with the skull shirt was like 16 and it was normal for him to grow out of his toys. According to my professor it's normal for him to find new ways of enjoying his old toys as a part of growing up but in the movie he's demonized for doing that. I dunno if he saw the last one when andy grows up but that was his main criticism of the series.
>>
>>94605691
I dont know, Ralph hasn't made a video on it yet
>>
>>94605931
Sid is shown to be around the same age as Andy (Real age is never mentioned) and he literally "Tortures" his toys like a fucking sociopath. Your teacher was an idiot for bringing it up and should have got his ass slammed by a guy who actually watched the movies.
>>
>>94603792
If you liked the Commando Elite over the Gorgonites, you need to seriously weigh the pros and cons of offing yourself. Spoiler alert: there are no cons, fucking do it
>>
How are they even comparable?
One is all CGI, one contains CGI.
You could have at least had something like The Indian in the Cupboard on the other side.
>>
>>94606314
Gorgonites are a bunch of retarded hippies that relied on humans. They are weak and need to be destroyed.
>>
>>94605776
>>94606287
Like I said it was a brief interjection during a class lecture because someone brought it up. I don't know what else to say guys :/
But to his defense isn't it normal for kids to grow out of their toys? Eventually his kids will grow out of Nintendo games and do something else. Sid found new ways to enjoy his old toys like making that spider baby. What is wrong with that? How is that any different from Andy giving his toys away? Isn't that part of moving on and growing up? Why is it okay in one situation and not in the other? Can we really accuse Sid of torture when he's finding new ways of playing with his toys? We have to remember that from the child's pov the toys are inanimate objects.
>>
>>94605659
It's part of a commercialized materialist mindset anon, why do you think the current generation of manchildren sperg out about videogames or anime figurines? How many billions do you think Disney makes in various merchandising schemes? Their entire mantra since the original Walt Days has been "Make the story child-friendly" and "Sell them toys"
Disney programs human cattle
>>
>>94606617
>But to his defense isn't it normal for kids to grow out of their toys?
They do grow out of them
>Sid found new ways to enjoy his old toys like making that spider baby. What is wrong with that?
Because he acts like a literal Psychopath when doing it?
>We have to remember that from the child's pov the toys are inanimate objects.
Yes, but the movie blatantly tells us otherwise.

There's a difference between "A movie is expecting to make money" and "A movie teaches children and manchildren to place extra importance on merchandise and toys than real life"
Watch some Altman
>>
>>94607390
You are literally autistic and probably as much of a manchild if that is your take away from the film.
>>
>>94606947
But Sid doesn't know that. He isn't torturing pets or animals that he knows are sentient. How is it any different from assembling or disassembling a science kit? His psychopathic nature is Disney's message that it is morally wrong to do these things. Kids throw away, break or lose their toys all the time. At least Sid is doing something constructive with his. How many of your toys have you kept in pristine condition from childhood to adulthood? For me, personally, it's zero.
