How can I buy yuri manga without my parents finding out
>tfw in my 20s and still living with my parents
>inb4 NEET
I both work and go to university
>>
>>2603244
Why would your parents care about what you buy?
>>
>>2603244
You're buying it with the money you earned, there is no reason for them to care.
But if you are really desperate, then just get a PO box.
>>
>>2603256
>>2603256
>>2603257
>>2603257
Because I'm not out to them, geez.
Well, I could figure something out.
>>

Kindle versions?
>>
>>2603259
1. Get a PO box
2. Order gay stuff to the PO box
3. Retrieve it and hide it in your backpack or bag or whatever
4. Secretly move them to your room
5. ???
6. Profit
>>
>>2603259
Just tell them and buy your shit geez
>>
>>2603259
You just never discuss it. What you buy with your money is your business. Gotta grow up some time anon, even if you're still living at home.
>>
>>2603264
Okay, I'm trying to find one in the country where I live, which is basically in the middle of nowhere.

>>2603266
>>2603270
It's not that easy, okay?
>>
>>2603272
Even if you live in a small village there should be a PO there. I live in the third world and even towns forsaken by god have post offices even though they look more like mud huts than an office.
>>
>>2603272
I don't see why not. If you can't trust your parents not to go through your stuff or give you a hard time about what you're interested in, frankly I think your money would be better invested in getting out of there. Otherwise, just buy your shit.
>>
>>2603272
Most post offices offer POs, and there's got to be at least one close-ish. Ganbare.

One problem that seems common with anthologies is going for number of participating artists, which means the one-shots are rather short on average. Yuri Drill could even be seen as the extreme version.
>>
So, apparently Melonbooks DL (only the digital store) is now blocking foreign IP addresses.

Is there a reason for this? Did they give an announcement? It seems like an unusual time for them to suddenly start caring about digital piracy at the expense of their sales.
>>
>>2603862
Did they ever ship internationally?
>>
>>2603862
Someone told me they were merging melon.co.jp and melon.com since they had access to their purchases from .com on co.jp
>>
>>2603320
Yeah, the oneshots were all really short. Tamamusi only even had two pages. Eclair had the same problem, though I think Aya Fumio's series and a few others got more pages than the average. But I'm glad that anthology from the pic is a commercially published one.
>>
>>2603259
>Because I'm not out to them, geez.
I'm not either and I get where you're coming from, I'm in my 20s, from a conservative Asian family and still live with my mom, but I just buy them, put them in my shelf and don't talk about it. You can always tell them it's normal manga, or you read yuri because it's more interesting than het or anything if they ever ask you (and they probably won't even understand what's written in there), I dunno.
As for doujinshi, they gladly don't have any spine to show, and most manga spines shouldn't look too yuri-ish. You can use the obi to hide any dubious spines as I'm doing with most of my porn books, or turn them around. Or hide the books entirely.
It might happen that your parents will stumble across your yuri accidentally sometime, but it's your money and you have the right to buy anything you like with it. Just tell your parents not to open any of your packages.
>>
>>2603862
Geez, I've bought a lot of stuff from them. Does anyone here know of a decent, free, in browser VPN with a Japanese IP address, so I can still access my stuff?
>>
>>2604233
Wouln't know about "in-browser" VPNs but I've used OpenVPN and vpn hosts from vpngate whenever I need to do something with a Japanese IP.
>>
>>2604251
Cool, I'll check it out. Thank you.

Apparently something has changed with Amazon's international shipping because according to Amazon my order has been shipped (once again divided in three different packages for 14 items) but DHL didn't notify me via mail and phone like it usually did. Also the shipping cost looked a bit cheaper than before.

Can someone please explain me あなたの順位おしえてくださいっ?

I understood the meaning of マウンティングランキング more or less with a google search:
マウンティングランキングとは、沢尻エリカさんが主演したドラマ「ファーストクラス」で取り上げられた言葉。 女同士の格付けを表し、主に職場内での自分の職務、態度、行動、お金、男によってどちらが格が上かを競うことを指す。

But what are those "games" there are in every chapter? At the beginning I thought they were someone's delusions but the Momotarou's one makes no sense and in the karaoke's chapter it seems it's happening for real.

Also the mc who doesn't know girls and is wearing a wig makes me fear she's not really a girl...

I'm really confused.
>>
>>2604906
I take the game interludes to be like a means of manifesting the mounting based on the personalities of the girls, in a way that's more fun than realistically depicting social mounting between school girls.
>>
>>2604792
I've had that happen about 25% of the time. I don't know what causes it but it isn't new at all.

Aren't there copyshops or printshops or something around? You can maybe use a PO box or something similar. You are asking to be scammed right now. Don't tell me you are 13.

Eh, maybe someone else can help you.
>>
>>2609816
I will be 22 this month.
>>
>>2609816
By the way, the doujin I want is porn, so it would be awkard to bring it to some printshop
>>
>>2609834
Well, if you already got the doujin from a PO box, I am not sure why you would want to scan it, unless you intend to scanlate or think it's easier to hide a file than a book, and then dispose of all physical evidence. I'm not going to judge you, but this seems like a poor plan. Maybe you'll get lucky with anons, but I personally would not risk it.

You probably already have gone through ex-hentai etc., maybe try it again to be sure it's not uploaded already. You could also try telling the name of the doujin and see if some other anon has it already and is willing to share, unless that is classified, need-to-know basis. Maybe there are some other options too.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

So i lot late but i finally read ヒメノスピア. If anything these two first volumes main theme was sexism. Yagakimi editor said in an interview that you can sort "yuri" works in two types, these being ones where yuri is the main theme (like a lot of yurihime things) and the ones where it's on a second plane (like Princess principal). This feels like the second case. But it's definitely yuri.

There was a male teacher that wanted to fuck the MC but he died like 1 page later. At least in these 2 first volumes the males mostly wanted to kill the girls.

There are a lot more figures of /u/ characters but not many couples figures which is baffling to me. Candy Boy had figures that could be posed to hold hands, and I think I saw some other series that had something similar, but that is about the closest I've /u/ figure I've seen that aren't part an acrylic stand or a standalone /u/ character.

I have Flowers -Le volume sur printemps (english edition) acrylics as well

The closest to actual /u/ figures I have is the Aloy statue from H:ZD, and then amiibos like Marie/Callie, Bayonetta, FemCorrin (and Pearl/Marina when they come out in July).

I want the Kat and Raven figures for Gravity Rush but they're expensive and I really would prefer spending money on couples figures, not that any exist.

Anyone here into doujins? I have a really hard time finding some good yuri doujins/artists as sites mostly sort on either "BL" or "for male audience".
>>
>>2618524
>for male audience
There's plenty of good stuff that gets filed as that for whatever reason, don't discount everything in that bin.
>>
>>2618566
The problem is that it's too much to filter. I know the good stuff is in there somewhere but when shopping at manda for example there is no clear tag for yuri so you either have to know the name already or you're fucked.
I was wondering if there sites with dedicated yuri sections or just some yuri artists in general.
Would love to be able to do some mindless browsing.
>>
>>2618568
Melonbooks and zin both have browsable yuri tags, but you're still going to run into illustration compilations with very light yuri, and stuff like that. Twitter is a good way to discover more artists if you already know one or two you like, they often retweet each other's work especially around the time that events are happening.
>>
>>2603244
Buy ebook versions.
>>
>>2618574
>Melonbooks and zin both have browsable yuri tags
tora too, and I guess melon and tora are the two biggest doujinshi shops so your best bet is just to search for "Yuri" or click on the tags. There are two difference tags though, one is a category and the other one is just a tag. They sometimes have different stuff when you click on both of them, especially on tora it's kinda weird how they categorize stuff.
You can of course also check pixiv for their yuri tag + event name if possible, or your favorite pairing or something. Most will have a purchase link, if not, it's most likely event exclusive.
>>
Why should I consider buying this?
>>
>>2618673
This
Also in my experience just doing a search for 百合 will sometimes bring back hetero works that have characters named Yuri (or Sayuri, etc) in them, too.
>>
>>2618665
Right, forgot about Tora. Clicking on tag is definitely better than search, as >>2618682 pointed out doing a search will return a lot of spurious results.

Is Amazon just being shittier with their packaging now? They've been sending me books in these super anemic-looking padded envelopes now, and my recent shipment has a book with a fucked obi. Thankfully, the books themselves seem to be okay.
>>
>>2619966
>>2620765
At least it's not just me. I find a ripped obi almost in every package, sometimes a book that have taken a hit, last time Nettaigyo 2 was badly ruined with a little rip on the back part of the cover but I fix it somehow because international replacement seems a quite annoying affair, I'd like to know how it works too.
Still, they're in a better state than most of the licensed manga in my country that I see in comic shops...

まいたけ "なぜ備さんはいつもいやらしいことばかり想定して危機管理しているの?(1) (アース・スターコミックス)"

I want to know just how many copies did the print. And then I read this
http://maitake2.blog17.fc2.com/blog-entry-617.html
Another yuri series is been axed.
>>
>>2621542
I suspected that since I hadn't seen a new chapter in a while. I'd only just discovered it as well.
>>
>>2621542
That was fast. I guess people buying something in sufficient quantities to make it sell out just isn't good enough for these publishers.
>>
>>2621690
They do small print runs based on predicting whether a series is likely to sell well, such as based on views. If the sales defy expectation they can do another print run, but merely selling out doesn't mean there's enough demand to make that worthwhile.
>>
>>2621718
I understand they predicted few sales and printed few copies, but if all the copies they predicted and printed went out of stock it means the sales exceeded their predictions. Selling out is not a mere thing, furthermore in just two weeks (at least on Amazon). Unless they printed like 10 copies, but what would be the meaning of producing a series to print just 10 copies?
>>
>>2621727
I bought it on Honto and it is out of stock there too. I think it was out in March, but still.

Maybe it will be revived online somehow. I enjoyed it enough to want more.
>>
>>2621727
A small run selling out on some online stores doesn't mean it exceeded expectations. It needs to sell out quickly, including from many bricks and mortar stores, and have the retailers actually want to get more in from another print run.
>>
>>2621742
The disappointment is seeing a publisher require a series to exceed expectations or face the axe. Is it even feasible for a magazine to be capable of running a full catalog of best-sellers?
>>
>>2621734
>it was out in March
Yes, the 12th of March, I ordered it on the 26th of March and Amazon kept it in my order until they removed it yesterday. It never came back in stock in two months.

>>2621742
>doesn't mean it exceeded expectations
But it does if they sold all the copies they printed. Yes, I don't know about comic shops, but selling out on Amazon and honto is quite a big deal. And it sold out quickly because as I said after two weeks from the release day it was already out of stock.

>>2621779
It's what Jump always does. Even Yuri Hime, with different standards obviouly, does it, look at the second series of Yuri Danshi or all the two tanks series with unsatisfying ends.
>>
>>2621779
They don't need to exceed predictions. It naturally comes down to whether the series is profitable.

The publishers aren't aiming to only have best sellers, or even only profitable series, but they do need the profitable series to balance out all the flops. They can't predict what will be profitable, and most of what they give a chance to won't be, but once it's clear a series is a flop then they will have to minimize the loss.

>>2621936
>But it does if they sold all the copies they printed.
By exceeding expectation, I mean like it's selling much better than expected, enough for another print run to be worthwhile. Even if they could have sold, say, 20% more if they'd printed enough, that still means their prediction of low sales wasn't wrong. There are other times when printing more would have just meant a bigger loss.

> selling out on Amazon and honto is quite a big deal. And it sold out quickly because as I said after two weeks from the release day it was already out of stock.
They aim to not hold a large stock so that's not a big deal and that's not really quick. They get a good idea of what isn't going to sell from preorders.
>>

I was hoping the drama CD would be Bicycle and Kase-san. Will that ever be for sale?

I don't usually order anime CDs. What's the difference between a cover song and the theme song if they're both by the VAs? Also wouldn't the theme song be on the OST? I'm buying everything anyway but 3 sets for this is unnecessary.

I always avoid to pre-order because Amazon will ship an item as soon as it's be released and I'll have to receive dozens of packages with just one volume and it's extremely annoying.
It doesn't happen so often that yuri stuff goes out of stock so fast, I can place an order at the end of each month with all the stuff released that month without problems.

An FYI, Toranoana's search function seems to be broken at the moment. They apparently launched a site-wide redesign and not even clicking a work's tags navigates to a search correctly.

This should be a short term issue as I'm sure Toranoana still likes money, but for the time being, it is also wreaking havoc on sites that index stock via their old URLs and search (doujinrepublic). Unfortunately, that fix has to be made on the search indexer's end, so be careful.

What was the difference between Avalon and Avalon bitter again?
Also, you missed some YH's releases.
>>
>>2627366
My understanding is that Avalon will not necessarily be pure fluff but more like what they've been doing, and bitter is going to be the angsty stuff. I don't think they've specified how dark bitter will be, but I'm hoping it is just angst and not packed with tragedy. I was a little hesitant to order bitter because I may regret it, but on the other hand I want to make these yuri anthologies succeed so they continue doing it.

You're right, I accidentally miss 私に天使が舞い降りた!3 for the month. Did I miss anything else? I skipped 君は少女 on purpose since I don't consider it worth the money. I may also skip model-chan because the art keeps going back and forth between appealing and weird, although I don't dislike the writing as much so I'm unsure.
>>
>>2627427

There is also Tsuki ga kirei desu ne 4.
>>
>>2627483
I think ExE's attempt at yuri in the GxG section has proven they let someone with laudable yuri savvy run their editing. I'm confident enough to extend blind trust on these new works and hope for the best.

>But why?
I thought I'd like it but I hated the direction it went. Can't see myself reading it again so there's no point wasting money or even more valuable shelving on it.

>Tsuki ga kirei desu ne 4

I heard GxG is migrating to an online comic site and is leaving the actual print magazine, https://twitter.com/comic_exe_gxg/status/1000731204147036161

Sad to hear that the yuri won't get as much exposure as it did in the ExE magazine, but also glad that it's not bunched in with het. I wonder if it converted any ExE readers.
>>
>>2632517
Between the move to web and the Avalon anthologies coming out this month I bet they want to distance the GxG brand from ExE so they can expand it properly without cannibalizing either one. I expect more good news in the next few months. like for them to finally print all the GxG tanks that they can, I'm dying to buy them.

You can't just take for good lists made by japanese people. Most of them has nothing to do with yuri, it's just girls-only series and some of them not even that.

How can Kodama Naoko's new tank be released next month if there are only three chapters of it? Or does it end with the third chapter in the new issue and the rest is old one-shots?
>>
>>2638012

>>
>>2632598

d/a, but personally I prefer lists that err on the side of inclusion. Akiba melon main is good (send your friends upstairs to HEY! to distract them).

Akiba tora A is not bad for original, C has a bunch of kancolle and stuff.
Used places like lashinbang, liberty, surugaya and mandarake are possibilities, haven't found their akiba locations too helpful for what I'm looking for, but you can definitely try 'em if you're looking for derivative works.

YH is bringing a stellar lineup yet again. I'm really, really excited there are so many concurrent new series right now. The only big name tanks I'm not getting that I know of are kodama's, shouraiteki, and todoito because they're not for me, but otherwise I think I'm buying everything else, putting this month well over the 10000 yen budget I used to keep for yuri.

はなにあらし 2

Roid—ロイド— 1
夢の中で君を探して 1
三日月のカルテ 1

イヴとイヴ
ショコラ 社会人百合アンソロジー
私は君を泣かせたい 3
おやすみシェヘラザード 1 I can barely understand this most of the time but I'm buying it anyway
純水ルミネッセンス
猫娘症候群 (2) Is this actually going somewhere yet?
シャボンと猫売り 2 Anyone keeping up with this? I never read the first one for some reason (was there something distasteful about it? I forget) but seeing it made it to a 2nd volume has me curious again.

I had 立花館To Lieあんぐる (7) Blu-ray付き特装版 pre-ordered on amazon jp but they just listed an amazon exclusive version with a postcard so of course I have to cancel my preorder and lose the 700+ yen I was saving on it, all for a postcard. YH is releasing a lot of stuff but I can't say they all are good series and have enough yuri. Definitely if they wasn't labelled as yuri I would never care about a lot of those titles but here I am buying all of them (except TodoIto, obviously). I think Hana ni arashi alone is a lot better than all those YH's titles.

>おやすみシェヘラザード

>女子同士ふたりの添い寝が世界を救う
Plot 10/10, masterpiece, will definitely buy.

About 異世界ピクニック, is anyone reading the novels? Subtext or gachi yuri?
>>
Back when yuri publication is a rarity, it's good to buy everything to support the industry. Nowadays it's starting to get popular enough that even mainstream publishers are experimenting with the genre, I'd suggest everyone to be a bit more selective. They're basically throwing everything at us and see what stick. If you vote with your wallet for subtext, girlship, yuri-as-fan-service-element, bait-and-switch, surprise het, tragedy, etc., that will turn back to haunt all of us for a long time to come.
>>
>>2654953
I think nobody here buy bait-and-switch and stuff with het.

As for being selective, to be honest the really good series even from a not-yuri point of view are just a few.
>>
>>2654497
Looks interesting. I have so few yuri LNs so I'll definitely consider it.

>>2654935
>シェヘラザード
Honestly I keep second guessing this one so maybe I'll wait until the next volume to decide. I like some parts, and others not so much.
>Is it connected to adolescence?
Supposed to be, I remember hearing about it last year but I really have no idea what the contents will be like, this author has my trust from years of good yuri so I'm not worried.
>Tachibanakan
I couldn't find anything on how they'll package it but I'm hoping it will be of the same caliber as the Kase-san bundles. A separate art box with the manga, BD case, and a little art booklet/stickers/etc included (plus the amazon exclusive art card) is a little less than I expect for 6000 yen but not so high that I would avoid buying it since I enjoy reading the series.

>>2654953
I only buy things that appeal to me and I am more than happy to buy them. I don't think supporting anything that isn't immediately gachi yuri is a bad thing, and I can count the number of yuri tanks I wish I didn't buy on one hand and none of them are actually bad, just not to my tastes. I can't remember the last surprise het/tragedy/bait series but they're easy to spot and I avoid buying anything I have doubts about until they are cleared. I doubt any but the craziest of people think Nettaigyo isn't worth supporting because of the cultural impact its future success could have on hypothetical future yuri manga if the ending doesn't turn out to be tribadism in an aquariam.
>>
>>2654935
>About 異世界ピクニック, is anyone reading the novels? Subtext or gachi yuri?
I'm pretty optimistic for it, especially since one of the main characters has two moms, but it's subtext so far.
>>
>>2655165
>little art booklet/stickers/etc
Is that 'etc' that I am interested to know. citrus' extra sucked except for the first volume's one. I'd be happy with few pages drawn by Saburouta about everyday's life (that it's the best part of citrus anyway) but in volume 2-3-4 there was nothing other than the card and the booklet with the design of the character.

>Nettaigyo
I'm buying it and loving it because it's a good series and I can't believe it won't end in text yuri seeing how gay every chapter is. Friends don't act like that.

>>2655336

This is not always easy though, especially for people like me who like their dose of import yuri but don't have time to keep up with magazines and long discussion threads.
It's often easy when you know the author but having to judge by covers, synopses and previews is pretty worthless.
That's one of the reasons I love this thread, please do keep up the warnings and recommendations for better yuri spending, it's much appreciated.

Haven't ordered much for 4+ months because Japan Post has "temporarily" suspended SAL to my country since then. At this point I don't think that's going to change anytime soon, so I'm just going to do a catchup order and swallow the doubling of shipping costs from now on. Hopefully customs here lets books through uninspected as easily with Airmail packages as they always did with SAL, otherwise I'm looking at triple the cost.

That first story of JC x wife, there was only Chinese scanlation on sad panda so I'm not entirely sure, but it's not really yuri is it? The black hair JC seemed to sleep with the husband in order to break the family up.
>>
>>2668215
Black haired girl sleeps with both of them. The ending implies that the wife went back to the family, but she might have started to cheat again with the black haired girl. idk, it was quite messed up.
>>
>>2668215
>The black hair JC seemed to sleep with the husband in order to break the family up.
What?!
>>
>>2668225
Into the trash it goes.
>>
>>2668225
The wife covered the family photo at the end, if there's any implication, it's that she'd get a divorce because her husband is a cheating fuck.

Anyway, I could accept a married woman finding out her homosexuality, but not a supposedly lesbian suddenly turned out to be het/bi. So this story is not yuri to me even if the wife becomes a complete lesbian by the end. I'm still shocked to be betrayed by Irua like this. She's one of the few yuri artists who I put complete trust in based on years of works.

I read somewhere there was irua's tweet that they were pissed off with translation of their works. Can anyone post that?
>>
>>2670114
It wasn't on twitter, it was in the afterwords of one of their doujin. And they said that if someone scanned the second JC x Wife book that they would not release the third.

Honestly, can't say I'm really disappointed, it was a bad premise anyway.
>>
>>2670139
I never understand that sort of complaining if they're not willing to do something about it like Isya and yuri-ism did. Clearly there's a demand there.
>>
>>2670139
Just wait until she releases the third book before scanning then.
>>
>>2670261
Yeah.

>>2670154
They're certainly not the only one who gets pissed off at foreigners for being interested in their work. There was a very popular hentai author that got pissed off when a gaijin asked them if there might be a continuation of a oneshot.
>>
>>2670536
Yeah. Some are friendly, and some are certainly not. irua isn't an exception, that's what I mean.
>>
>>2670114
Wasn't it because she was harassed by some rude readers who forced her to release the sequels faster and even showed her the scanlations? At least that's what I understood. Someone uploaded the afterword of the first book before, can't find it though.

Not a loss, but I’m curious to know what is the general consensus regarding scanlations
>>
>>2671141
The general consensus is that it's stealing.
And that's what it is. Some authors don't really care, as it can actually help the sales, others are very zealous about protecting their works. Usually it's the publishing company. But, obviously, more than the tiny foreign audience outside Japan, it's the domestic distribution that harms the sales the most, so it's kinda weird they're lashing at us. Or so I'd think. Go and figure.
>>
>>2671004
Japan was always a islolated country. Go figure.

>>2671184
They own the doujin work that they've made themselves. Only the owner of the source work has some kind of power over the derivative work, which they'll most likely never enforce. Some rando pirate doesn't have that right.
>>
>>2671456
No. The source owner is very very unlikely to exercise their (somewhat flimsy) right of ownership, thus leaving it to the doujin artist by default. Remember that a large number of mangaka in the industry started out as doujin artists, so they usually don't want to step on their toes.
>>
>>2671456
It doesn't work like that. Copyrights holders in Japan unofficially and officially allow a huge doujinshi culture, with the agreement that doujins must be non-profitable and in limited quantity.

Furthermore, nips are allergic at gaijins scanlation not out of xenophobia or fear of profit loss, but out of fear of shitstorm. Nips are well aware that gaijin cultures do not "get it" (as you demonstrated right here, despite being a veteran weeb enough to browse /u/ and buyfagging), so the more the foreign mainstream is aware of doujinshi, the more likely it'll cause a huge controversial backlash that might pressure even Comiket to shut down. It's a reasonable fear and so many nips try to prevent as much export as possible.

>inb4 "but everyone knows about doujinshi already"
No they don't. The majority of normies only know about weebs and look down on them, whereas even people around me who studied Japanese and traveled to Japan do not know what "doujinshi" is.

Have any US nee-san here imported doujins before? I want to import 2 Non-H NicoMaki doujins, but customs/inspections make me feel so iffy. What's the process like? So long as they are non-H, and don't have any 18+ warnings anywhere, should there be a problem at all?
>>
>>2675321
Not American, but would it even get inspected if it's just basically a small package getting sent over? Even then you certainly shouldn't have to worry about anything sfw.
>>
>>2671004
This dumb rant is why I'm not buying any more of irua's books. I find that kind of tirade really tiresome and ignorant.
>>
>>2675321
>>2675329
Not American either but my air mail package with around 7 doujinshis got stuck in custom once although I didn't have to pay any custom fees. They just wanted to confirm the value of the package since I had to show my bills.
In my country it's pretty random what gets stuck there, though the smaller the package and the value, the lower the probability (also I heard EMS has a higher probability to get inspected). Though, with your 2 doujinshis you shouldn't have any problem at all I think.

On another case, I had to open my package with full of yuri porn once. The officers didn't say anything about illegal content, one of the guys just asked the other one if they also read manga while flipping through one of the nsfw tankobons.
>>
>>2675353
I've received one box that had tape saying it had been opened and checked by customs, but somewhat thankfully all that stuff happens without me being involved.
>>
>>2675321
Absolutely no problems other than the possibility that it gets lost in the mail (more likely if trackerless). I've had one get lost without any notice (think it was SAL) and one that arrived with a notice that USPS repackaged it because it was damaged during shipping (it was essentially destroyed by that point though so I had to buy another one). I generally do EMS for hard to replace items now so I never worry about it.

>>2675353
I would literally throw that away and buy a new one if a customs agent left their dirty fingerprints all over my book.
>>
>>2654300
>シャボンと猫売り 2 Anyone keeping up with this? I never read the first one for some reason (was there something distasteful about it? I forget) but seeing it made it to a 2nd volume has me curious again.
The retro feel, bizarre worldbuilding, atmostphere and art make it more than worth it for me, but it's pretty light on yuri so far (vol1 had more). If you're picky about service or sexual harassment from dudebro characters you should probably skip it.

>>
Those who buy from melon, do you notice recent doujins came in A5 paper size instead of the usual B5? I don’t see any A5 in tora.
>>
>>2675798
Doesn't the size depend on the author? Usually I get A5 if the page count is less than 10.
>>
>>2675798
That's a decision made by the author, as the other anon said. There are some that just like doing everything in A5 (like Fujisawa Makoto, if you want to see A5 in tora just look her up) but I've also seen it chosen for things with higher page counts like multi-author anthologies or compilations of previous work.
>>
The prevalence of doujinshi may make us think that Japan is more lax on fanworks and copyright, whereas ironically the opposite is true. Japan thinks of piracy and violating people's intellectual property as a serious crime akin to murder, whereas we think of it more like jaywalking.

Furthermore, whereas at least in the West some copyright holders do acknowledge fanworks, in Japan it is mostly "tolerance by silence." There are some exceptions like ZUN who explicitly give permission, but those are in the minority. In fact, a fair number of them explicitly ban fanworks of any kind, like for Madoka Magica. Of course, we see Madoka doujinshi because this rule only exists on the Madoka official websites and is not enforced, but we shouldn't be under the illusion that doujinshi exists in Japan and not in the West because it is tolerated more, in fact it is tolerated less. In other words, doujinshi and derivative works thrive over there despite Japan, not because of Japan.
>>
>>2677472
In general, yes, Japan takes copyright Very Seriously.

However there is an unspoken agreement that specifically covers self-published small-scale production of unlicensed derivative works (i.e. non-original doujinshi). If this agreement didn't exist, Comiket, frequent doujinshi events focused on a single property, and companies like Tora no Ana and Melonbooks could most certainly not exist.

The thing to know is that this unspoken agreement has, over the years, become surprisingly concrete. For any work to fall within it, it must be 1) self-published, 2) small-scale, and 3) it must not be easily found by normies who are just googling the original.

This means that for example on twitter, artists who post art and doujinshi of their pairings NEVER use official hashtags, but instead they use fan-originated tags or none at all. If a tweet with some artwork threatens to go really viral (like >3k retweets) you will frequently see an artist lock their account for a while. The same will happen if other people use official hashtags in their replies to the tweet. This is because license holders often consider unofficial pairings to "damage the brand."

One aspect of this that seems utterly alien and incomprehensible to Americans is that doujinshi artists do not, by default, want to Make It Big with their doujinshi. They aren't "sticking it to the man." They are doing what they're doing for a small audience, and suddenly having something spread to hundreds of thousands of people would not be a joyous occasion; it would be a cause for worry and anxiety, and for many, the end of their doujinshi hobby.

The one on the right. Been trying to get a copy for a while, but they never sell sold it online, and could never find it second hand.

What do you guys think about setting up a crowdsource funding every comiket to buy and scan yuri doujin? Like what Yuri-ism do with their donations (announcing a title, those who like it can donate, then buy once the target is met), sans the translation part.

Of course it'd be ideal if the operator is living in Japan to cut out the shipping cost. And this obviously isn't meant for those who want to collect physical books.

In short, I wish somebody would organize a secret company that buy and scan yuri doujins on request, catering both to the crowdsource people (donate a bit and vote what to get) and the individual buyers (choose what to get and pay the entire amount).

It's in topic because it's still about buying books.

I myself had spent over €2000 just in a couple years for doujins alone. I hate when I get into a fandom late and good doujins had been sold out years ago without ever surfacing on the internet. I want more people can have more means to contribute towards paying and thus made that situation less likely to happen.

The author for picnic has said several times he see the work as yuri. He was even asked to explain what yuri is in a sci-fi event where most people didn't know shit about the genre.

How much yuri it'll be, I don't know. But after saying that several times, I think it's safe to assume his intentions.

Nah, I'm 99.99999% sure Minakata and Morishma are a thing. I was wondering about Hakamada and Morinaga, b/c since even a few years back, the way they post back and forth to each other on twitter seems to hint that they're going out.

>>
>>2683341
Sometimes people really are just friends, anon. And if they're dating why was Morishima looking for a gf?
>>

I vaguely remember that. I can't remember exactly what she said, but sometimes the best place to hide a leaf is in a forest. Couldn't it be smth like "Hey, I found a gf! (Just kidding)!" except that she really isn't kidding and was just trying to maybe get some of the heat off of her or Minakata by joking about it. When I see what they say on twitter, it seems like there are little things that point to them being a couple. It's hard to explain. But I'm 99.99999% sure they're together. It's Morishima and Hakamada I'm up in the air about.

This is my best guess as to what they meant.

No, it's just what I'm calling the press of sweaty otaku surging around certain sections of day 3 east halls, as they fight to fill their desire for erohon. Normally I'm pretty game to battle the tides (or just get picked up and carried along in them) but I didn't want to exacerbate an existing injury.

Had to phone and get my credit card unlocked after using dlsite. Imagine my heart rate spike when they said "the transaction in question was for a 'dlsite' for $2.87. Was this you?" I already hadn't been able to use the site for almost 2 years when it stopped working suddenly for the site, but after this one, it had locked completely, domestically and internationally. When I looked up what I had tried to buy that day, turns out it wasn't even porn, just a regular yuri volume on sale that I was just testing to see if my card would work on the site again magically.

Sorry for the Cool Story, but if I recall some people find these reports useful.

Looks like the surface tension is available for pre-order at the moment.

Anyone know why 電撃マオウ 2018年10月号 still isn't listed to pre-order on amazon.co.jp but 電撃マオウ 2018年11月号 is? There's only a week left so it should be up by now.

I basically plan to buy morinaga milk books (I already have Girl Friends and Kisses) and Sasameki Koto from Seven Seas.

I keep hesitating because I can just read them online but at the same time I feel like I 'have' to buy them because 1) I don't know if I'll have internet access in the future and 2) I feel more comfortable having a physical copy in my possession.

I gave up on buying Avalon and Avalon bitter because of the shipping fee but I just found out that it is available electronically on Renta if anyone is interested.

Girlfriends arrived yesterday, and I'm planning on getting Bloom Into You and My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness and its sequel. Same as you, I can read the books online, but there's something about having a physical copy. Also, who knows how long online manga sources will stay available, way things are going.

When and where can I get my hands on doujinshi from comitia?

Same as comiket I guess. See if it's available on melonbooks, if not you can only hope someone sells it on surugaya, yahoo auctions or mercari.
