I don’t consume any hate essays or reviews of any form, this is purely my take, it’s not about “how I imagined it” it’s literally how the game presents itself with its limited technology, walking through a building filled with corpses leading to jenova being missing after previously seeing her headless corpse, along with playing “trail of blood” even mid fight for the entire duration of the sequence is the designers framing it as strongly as they can that they want to emphasise a darker tone for that section.

I don’t hate any of the goofy moments (well maybe the honey bee inn was too on the nose, cloud can’t even have an optional mental break down that he could have in the original) I like Costa Del sol, Junon was amazing in the remake, and the redone trek up my corel was great, why is all of that okay to emphasise but they’ll just completley neuter other things? Whoring out sephiroth within the first hour of the game and proceeding to place him everywhere for no reason besides fan service and cheap “changes” is not the game being true to how it was.

Midgar zolom no longer has the gorey corpse, now it just blows up in gay flashy lights right in our faces, majority of the areas that had any sort of foreboding atmosphere are completley changed, you don’t even see aerith get buried. What is everyones thoughts on the difficulty? I find the game to be not really challenging at all, just annoying. More like it's artificial difficulty. Everything is just annoying. Enemies can hit you all the time but you can't hit them all the time. If you dodge one move you get hit by the very next combo because it's designed to just bait you into getting hit. Enemies can jump/fly/run/etc away from your moves at any moment, but you can't. Enemies can move while attacking or have attacks that make them slide across the ground and hit you, but every attack you have forces you to stay put and commit. And so on.

It's just not really "hard", just stupid. I feel very powerless most of the time because of all your restrictions while the enemy just does whatever they want. And sometimes your best move is to actually tank a hit then spam your attacks over and over because it's the only real way to get some damage in.

Also upgrades seem actually useless? You upgrade your attack multiple times but it still will take 3 hits to kill the same enemy. So why did I even upgrade? Same with defense, you might die in 4 hits, but you upgrade your shit and still die in... 4 hits.
