yah people would definitely stay in the entire game and never shut off their switch over one bad roll

>player DCs
>AI replaces them for the rest of the game
>player gets one loss added to their record / DC rate goes up

How is this so hard?
>>
>>420390396
this argument makes no sense

i mean, yeah, that'd definitely happen, but there are plenty of solutions too, like >>420392485

just fucking let me play with people on my friends list i don’t need match making but i have friends that don’t live around me
>>
>>420389946
Isn't it gonna be a gimmick mario party game?
>>
Will probably break my sticks.
>>
No online is a flaw, but FINALLY the characters walk individually over the board again.
Otherwise I dont know enough to judge yet
>>
>>420393380
no gimmicks outside of using some wagglan. no cars, back to dice. and honestly after using joycons for shit like MK8 and zelda i have no problem with the wagglan that’s being shown. in fact i think the steak one looks pretty neat.
>>
>>420393380
There's a gimmick using 2 switches but that's outside of the main mode.
>>
>>420393380
it looks like it'll be the first good mario party since 2.
>>
Maybe they’ll add a shareplay like feature when online launches so you can do it that way (yeah fucking right)
>>
>>420392485
Yes but that would boil down to everyone except the one person who doesn't disconnect playing against a bunch of CPUs, which could be done offline, and if people who would do this anyway are really going to be disheartened from doing this again by a loss mark on some weird Mario Party statistics board, not to mention how terrible the lag could be Mario Tennis Demo style even if they don't disconnect
>>
>>420390396
>>420390102
Nice to see Nintenbros defending this.
>>
Can you play it without the joycons?
I've got a pro controller and a gamecube adapter. But I've only got one pair of joycons.
If joycons are obligatory I just might have to actually purchase a second pair.

I was kind of hoping I could hold on purchasing a second pair until they make alternative button/whatever joycons or a Switch+ or something so that I could purchase a better Switch and get new joycons at the same time.
So I'd kind of hope 2 joycon pairs aren't necessary. But I'll do it for Mario Party if it is.

Honestly, who would give a shit? Guarantee everyone would accept that if it meant they could have a game with their online friends. Imagine the /v/ matches.
>>
>>420393543
It would be great if they had the option to turn off motion controls and replace the wagglan with repeated A presses.
>>

no thanks fag
>>
>forced to use single joycon in mini games

It's literally worthless

Play with your friends in different cities and states or play with randoms and deal with disconnects every couple games
>No online
Invite your friend over to play the game once, both say "this game is pretty fun!" but never actually play it together again, you now have a $60 party game you're only playing with AI
>>
It's a party game for 8 years olds. Its literally designed to break the ice between autists and kids who's moms made them go to his sleepover.
>>
I hope Drew comes back for Super Mario Party Party.

Maybe because they're fucking charging for it?

I skipped all the other Mario parties that did the car thing. My GF and I play 5-7 and 2/3 on emulators. We're excited for this one

>>
>>420392485
We're talking about a Nintendo game online. They can't even do basic online play right, let's be real here

You have some bad friends if they only play Mario Party once with you anon

Not called Mario Party 11 with the joycons shaped as 11
>>
>>420395939
None of them have time. We'd play at home online for sure, but no one is planning a visit over Mario Party that I know.
>>
>>420394081
Nope. Single joycons for every minigame. Most using motion controls
>>
>>420392485

Figures. I kind of expected that.
I get why too. I mean if I had to choose between only joycons or no joycons at all I'd probably choose only joycons.
The main appeal with this being on the Switch as far as I am concerned is being able to just bring this up to a friend and instantly have at least two controllers. And I'd get why the game itself would capitalize on that.

I won't lie though. It's kind of disappointing that other controllers aren't supported. Because as stated I've got a bunch of them and only one pair of joycons.
But I guess it's good that they're actually doing the joycons justice at the very least. I am generally not one for gimmicks, but for party games like these they're fine. Or even great. I still can't help but think of multiplayer in Smooth Moves. Like most of the time the motion stuff wouldn't even work properly, but it was equally shitty for everyone and trying to cope with it was like half the game and it was great fun.
Though I guess motion stuff on the Switch would actually be accurate and more reliable in comparison to the mess that was the Wii. But still.
>>
It's a Mario Party. That's a flaw.
>>
You know, it's a lot easier to swallow the waggle stuff if I know it'll prolong the durability of my joycons.
God knows there's already so many things that wear them down as is.

Having played Mario party 2,4 and 5 recently I don't really know how much I'll miss the button mash and stick spinning, and I usually win those.
>>
>>420390037
Do people actually play these sorts of games online? I dont think Ive ever even thought of trying to play a party game like this without having friends over and looking for something to play together.
>>
>>420397353
read the thread
>>
>>420397353
The thing is a lot of people don't have friends close IRL
and it's almost impossible to get people together to play nowadays.
There was a time I really tried to make this happen when both me and all my friends were employed full-time and it was just not happening.

Ever since netplay became bearable on Dolphin, playing with literally any online friend
has made me feel like I finally get what it's like to play these games the way they were intended, at any time, with any friends.

Nobody cares if everyone has just a tiny bit of input lag, it's almost just as fun.
>>
>>420395093
I agree for shit like the bike races. Or at least an option to opt out of wagglan games all together when you’re setting it up. It wouldn’t work for the steak one though because you have a cube of meat you have to evenly sear on all sides using the HD rumble and joycon motion control, and that’s only from what we saw. I’m sure there’s more.
>>
>>420389946
I don’t have any friends so this game will be boring for me.
>>
>>420395328
how would you even make shit like the banana match game work without 2 systems you mook? saying you need 2 switches is like saying they’re locking co op out of kirby because you need 2 controllers
>>
>>420398281
It's a weak argument but the rest of his points are fair.

mk8 and smash work fine if a bit archaic. all i want is the ability to host a game and have my friends list join.

they played it on treehouse yesterday. they explained most of the faq. no online. dice rolls are back. each character has a unique die that changes the odds (i.e one character has a 0,2,4,4,6 dice so you can roll a 0 but there’s more 4s in the board) that you can choose to roll instead of the standard die if you wish

You should be able to use a flick of the controllers analog stick to flip it. I'm just really anti motion controls. They ruined muh star fox game and almost splattoon(if they didnt allow them to be turned off)

Do we see any pro controllers in the trailer?

Im worried this will be one of those rare games where it's only compatable with the joycons.
Also kinda paranoid the full game won't really be enjoyable without being undocked since some of the game seems to be based on laying the switch down flat
>>
Can you turn off character specific dice? It's a really cool idea but I am not sure what I think about there being tiers and a meta to who you pick instead of just partying with your favourites.

MP6 had character specific traits but w/ orbs.
>>
So essentially it uses Star Rush’s board idea but with actual boards and not moving together right
>>
I unironically agree with the soulless meme, but gameplay-wise it looks like an objective upgrade from the last decade of mario parties. It may not replace the originals, but it's a damn good try. And the motion controls make sense and look like they have no room for error.
>>
>>420404458
And forgot, while it's nice that normal boards are back, they look kinda small and lacking in features like the N64 originals.
>>
why the hell did they pump out so many Party games anyway, instead of keeping it to one entry (MAYBE two) per console like the Kart and Smash games
>>
>>420404584

Despite how much people shit on the newer games, they still sell a lot to the casuals
>>
>>420404584
They are cheap to make
>>
>>420404549

They still want to make it different enough and not exact pixel perfect since had that shit for 9 games already with D
I’m fine with it
They aren’t lacking features, they are just built differently and work around the games features rather than the boards themselves
