Maybe, last threads have been quite slow, but them we might just be in a bad phase.

Also finished my bonestone blocks so I can build into ridiculous world ossuary biome a village. Also added morecraft, now I can almost survive exclusivelly by bone collecting. I discovered another interesting thing about the biome, it seems that exotic birds pigeons really like to spawn there, so I also got an average source of food in the middle of the bone dust.

Anon, think of them as what happens if someone takes flies and fill them with taint. They normally appear close to a ttainted biome or a place that might morph into taint, so at least be wary and try to pinpoint from where the taint is coming from.

I actually use both LIttle maids and thauncraft. I personally think a cute girl texture for the tiny golems will look at best silly and at worst extremelly weird due to their shae. Maid texture off their arms and try to make them tiny testificate looking touhou fairies?

Thought I would ask you fellas. Hopefully this fits here.

I haven't played MC or FTB since I spent a few months on FTB infinity in early-mid 2015. Just this week I started a FTB Beyond server for my fiancee and her friends. They managed to get some automation going and a smeltery and a nice base.

They are having problems getting further with automation. I vaguely remember doing something to get lots of EU to pump into my machines... then a week later all of a sudden I had a huge orb floating in a room making tons of energy and a massive reactor for more energy with a computer/portal that sent me to other dimensions for mining.

The question is simple. Where do they go now? They have some solar panels and some machines from IC2 and the smeltery. What is the best bet for getting more energy and advancement past these earlier stages. They honestly seem stuck doing basic strip mining for now. They also have a basic, but huge, wheat farm, is that really the best to feed 7 people?


Side question. Is Beyond the natural evolution of Infinity? Or did they remove a ton of stuff? It doesn't say Beyond is an exploration modpack is why I am asking.


Appreciate any replies. Thanks ahead of time. If all you do is link me to proper information that would work too. I searched but information is scarce or misguided at best.

Fatcraft and spice of life are plain shit, install an actual food mod like growthcraft or something.
Botania is opinions but it's shallow as fuck if you take a good long look at it.
Witchery is a better alternative for druidic magic and is actually in depth and very fun

And unidict is a mod you install when you're too lazy to go through shit and config your ores.

Unifier and Uniq basically means I only ever have one Ore, ingot, block of each thing ever showing up.

Posting some screenshots. I plan to finish the tower by having a half ring kind of rise up to back a huge sprite Tangela. Will MS Paint my vision if reference is desired. I'm making my castle on top of a huge mountain. I played back in the very beginning and only log on every 7 months or so and usually just shear my sheeo; I'm definitely not a big player of minecraft anymore. Wheat is crap, use taters for food. Ideally if FTB has Pam's installed (which it should afaik) you can make Fish and Chips for an All American food. Have them automate that.

As for automation and whatnot, IC2 kinda went to shit. I recommend that you look into Immersive Engineering for tech, it's a fun little mod with lots of neat stuff.

Also build an Extreme Reactor, maybe an automated Forestry station, etc. Get creative!

I was on Autismserb for a while, and I think we were discussing the relative autism levels. Infinity evolved was like 3x regular gregtech autism, and GTNH was 20x. I don't know how true that is now that GTNH reached 15.0, since we dropped the pack after that update.

Basically, I enjoyed it but I'm in it for automation shits and giggles. I loath actually needing to find resources. The problem was progressing at glacier slow speeds because we couldn't find a specific material.

Back to your question. Gregtech, once you hit medium voltage, you need a laser etcher to make advanced circuits, and it only gets worse from there. When they updated it, you need a clean room to make high end circuits, which'd basically amount to a whole other factory just to make circuits. I kind of miss it since it scratches my autistic itch, but I couldn't keep playing it. I want to make my own pack, but I can't be assed to do all the minetweaking bullshit.

What was the last time you found a village you simply looked at and said "Yes, I can work with that."? This one spawned the main part with a fortress and a engineer workshop just over the mound. To get there, there no road, but it just happens that an watchtower spawned aside the thing and the top is at almost the same level as the other buildings The other side has another workshop thing spawned floating aisde the moud some good ten blocks above water, and the back has some houses tht also spawned above water, just asking to make a pier. Toxic Jungle Fag here, FINALLY discovered how to paint my modpack world modular style so my computer doesn't fry itself. So work has begun on the map!

Q: What size should the world be between 16k x 16k and 20k x 20k? It will be mostly ocean, but keep in mind much of the server is about airships, so there SHOULD be a large distance between islands. 20k sounds fucking huge and unnecessary but 16 sounds too small.

Any ideas friends? Anything I may not have considered?

If you use ocean worldgen (for example superflat), you might just pregenerate the chunks around island, and make them fit to your custom world (islands). You save on space, and empty ocean will be able to generate.

16k×16k is 256k2 blocks in area, 1000×1000 chunks.
Nether will be 2k×2k blocks, 125×125 chunks.
To get from one corner of the map (~2800 blocks) to the other it would take (assuming straight travel, no obstructions):
about 10 minutes of walking/sprinting through the Nether;
over 45 minutes by boat;
35 or 18 minutes by creative flying or sprint-flying respectively;
10 minutes of continuous Elytra rocket flying (the fastest travel method).
I think that's pretty big. Start with centre, make the first island, see how big it is, move to next island and adjust your scale as you go.
1000 blocks distance between islands should be more than enough, it equals over 2 minutes by boat. Even 512 would be enough, other islands wouldn't be visible even on 32 rendering distance, ~1 minute by boat (enough to make it boring).

I used to play FTB Infinity Evolved but stopped mid 2015. This week I started again with modded MC and tried FTB Beyond. I really dislike how vanilla it felt with no exploration or exploration things disabled/truncated.

Anyone care to toss a recommendation for a modpack with the feel of Infinity Evolved? I was going to play that again because it seems to keep getting updated but I also noticed it is on 1.7 still (obviously lol) and was hoping for maybe a new MC base as well. I like how well MC runs on 1.8+ but if I have to I suppose I can just restart Infinity Evolved and deal with 1.7.10 .

Resonant Rise 4, All The Mods 2, and just going back to Infinity Evolved seems to be the best bet. I would love to hear some input from you all, thanks.

The mound took me a day to find exploring first, the beach giant village close to a witch henge with an obsidian totem in the middle was pretty much a jackpot Many times you will need to explore and adventure around the world before finding that place and being happy with it. Also you need to find you gameplay too, some people want to build but I see that they just end exploring, gathering huge sums of ores for no apparent reason, or going even going caveman and never leaving the stone tools, and still enjoying the game. I used to travel a lot, but with time I shifted towrds building little villages and tryign to defend them. It also depends what your mods are focused at.

When I say ''Ocean'' I mean toxicjungle mod ocean which is actually just void, a small custom mod that sets a cloud layer at y=0 that looks like polluted water and isn't sailable by boat. The whole world is only navigable by airship, as elytra rocketing is turned off.

In modded or unmodded MC I have (at least since 2013) used GUI scale set to 'auto' to be able to see anything at a proper size. I have had a 2160p monitor that looks/works great with everything but certain aspects of Steam and MC (pic related). With Gui on Auto things are a little too large, but any other settings they are non-existent small.

On my Asus pg34q ultrawide I can choose any setting. It looks great. With any monitors, even my 2010-2013 setup of 3 27 inch 1440p monitors, MC looked fine. Only do I ever run into scaling issues with my UHD setups since 2013 in Steam and MC. Anyone know of a fix for MC or a mod or anything really, that will let me have more scaling control? Google-fu has gotten me a few answers that just don't work.

All 1.10 mods plus Thaumcraft, Witchery, and other key mods that are in 1.7.10. And even then, Defense Tech works decently as an ICBM replacement. Nuclear Tech was a shame to lose though. But speaking of 1.7.10 Thaumcraft, it would be interesting to see a new one that takes the best aspects of the previous versions. Personally, I prefer the TC4 system for Nodes and Vis over some other versions. But other versions have their own really cool mechanics. I also personally prefer the simpler 1.2.5 IC2 over modern IC2.

Some wizards sell identify scrolls, but unidentified doesn't mean you can't use it.

Grave mods are nice because when you die, getting back there is the hard part usually. Picking up the stuff that's been splayed out everywhere is just kinda annoying and tedious.
It's not much more punishing without them though because of that. You might lose your items, sure, but it's usually not a big deal, most of my deaths don't put my items in a ton of danger.

I can't really think of a great way to make death more punishing without ruining the core gameplay loop. Deleting your entire world upon death is a bit too harsh. Maybe a lives system would work but it'd have to be balanced pretty well.

You might want to download a mob spawn tweaker mod and blacklist the Evil Wizards from spawning in most dimensions. The End is full of them and it might be nearly unplayable if you get unlucky. They can spawn in huge numbers and with some ridiculously over the top spells and summons and if it doesn't crash your game it'll definitely ruin your framerate while you're there.

I'm actually happy with this death. I broke my rule of "never be out of your house at night, ever." and gone far away, came back to see some spooky stuff all around. Scared to use my only good weapon (a kukriI found on a chest that gives wither, was already with half its uses), I thought I could make a run to the home and go upstairs, but nope, the drider webbed me and killed me aside my home. Next is what hapenned when I was trying to recover my bag and my cursed weapon: a slow, agonizing fall to my ovious demisse. I normally would be mad, but these mobs are a lot more fun than I thought they would be.

I think behind Blood Magic. You know that crop scanner that you use to know levels of your crop? I think it originally had a stone slab in the recipe. Here it's Reinforced Slate I think.

And Divine RPG plays a huge part in it.
For example Ender IO auto-farmer requires Rupee and Arlemite Shickaxes to craft

Play with other mods and literally just research as you go.
On easy mode you have to actually make the things you research and then scan them before researching any more things. I haven't had to break down a single crafting table doing it this way and I've got all my tabs around 70% filled out.

Thaumic Energistics, Thaumic Alchemy, Tainted Magic, then railcraft and gadomancy.
Energistics is just AE2 thaumcraft compatability, alchemy just adds a reverse-centrifuge, tainted magic adds some crimson cult crafting recipes and other edgy paraphernalia.

The grassy dirt texture looks fine but the others especially the leaves are way too flat. The colour of the spouted grass clashes with its outline. Try experimenting with reducing contrast and varying hue. 16-bit colour palettes tended to vary the hue slightly for different shades of the same basic colour. An example would be if a sprite had a sort of lime green colour, the darker parts would be a deeper, bluer green and the lighter parts more yellowish. It mimics how light bounces between the depths of objects and it looks really nice.

Took the mod mostly so I have female and male villagers around, but wanted to see how the other models looked like ingame.
