The higher your initial FPS, the higher your endgame FPS.

If "impacted FPS" should be expected from dragonapi then I don't have a problem with it. However Reika claims that most people don't have this issue.

It's completely possible for something like DragonAPI (which puts its greasy cock in the rendering code) could affect certain systems more than others, and that a minority might have big FPS drops.

Note that I said something "like" DragonAPI. DragonAPI specifically will definitely drop your FPS.

I want to save some data to the world. I've extended WorldSavedData, and I have methods to get my data out of any given World. But, this data is different per World (Nether and Overworld will have separate data, for example). So, do I need to have a instance of my extended WorldSavedData class for every dimension ID? Should I be writing a wrapper class that stores a map of ID -> WorldSaveData?

I've found a lot of information on how to read and write from NBT (which is the trivial part), but I've found very little info on the best practice for actually storing and using WorldSavedData classes or how this shit is supposed to work.

I think you should be able to do that. Keep the center of the "village" where golems should spawn. Then find a way to sort baby testificates away from the room, so they keep shitting out babies while the population is constant in the room to keep golems spawning.

That second part is tricky though. Usual village breeders leave one villager in the actual village, but another two of them are placed in an area that's inside the breeding radius, but outside the box that counts the population. You can't do this in an iron farm since having 1 villagers prevents golems from spawning.

There are a few things from memeversions that are worth keeping, primarily elytras, they were a bit shit at first but when Mojang figured their shit out and added firework boosting they became fun as fuck.

Llamas, polar bears, parrots, husks and strays are all useless bloat and can fuck off. So can mansions, way too much travel for a bunch of boring melee mobs and a trophy item. It is nice to have a slightly more challenging dragon fight but nobody I know has ever found a use for tipped arrows. Terracotta, fucking Ztones blocks are easier to work into a build than terracotta okay holy shit this list is looking worse than I thought

8GB of RAM. With foamfix I can allocate enough that the RAM isn't an issue. So that doesn't explain why 1.10+ runs a bit worse than 1.7.10. I hear constantly in the community that 1.10 runs better.

That's a really interesting and smart use of pre-existing features desu.

The downside, however, is that it is entirely practical. It doesn't have any life to it, which is something that the mobs in Minecraft need more of. I'd like to sit halfway up a jungle tree and spy a crocodile lurking a block below the surface, quickly grabbing and eating an ocelot that was on the riverbank.

You could make it out of marble, base it on old timey museums. You could have a glass dome in the roof letting sunlight in to the main entrance hall. The main displays of the best things can go in here and in rooms adjacent to it.

Then below ground you can have the cool dark archive rooms where you keep everything not on display in the museum.

You could build an attached botanical garden out of glass where you keep every plant in the game in custom built recreations of their habitat and add a bunch of plants with mods.

You never see wolves stalking sheep herds, and the sheep running away when they are attacked by the wolves.

Back to bears, maybe you could tame them for riding, being slower than a horse but much more tanky (bear cavalry is a meme that has been featured in some pop-culture several times).

What else would you use, from a minecraft perspective? Obviously, you can't just use dirt, and MC doesn't have anything earthen besides clay. Maybe make it out of dirt+clay mixed together into some kind of earthen/mud block thing?

I guess the obvious solution would be regular old mud, but that has problems for gameplay. You'd need a bucket of water to make it. Even if it added clay buckets, you couldn't cure the bucket without a furnace which you don't have yet because you have nothing to cook it in.

Do be warned that 1.12 is not very mod-server friendly. I say this from an Admin's perspective, knowing that there's a lot of struggle behind the scenes to get ATM3 and Horizons3 working.

Though if you want to do a pack that doesn't include all the 'dumb overpowered bullshit' that most kitchen sinks are about, Horizons will be a good bet. No tinkers or Draconic Evolution.

Ok that wasn't so hard at all. The admiral's desk and the abyssal frame are now crafted with abyssal blocks rather than with obsidian. I decided not to change the hydrothermic vent recipe, since it makes sense for that to be volcanic and also there's no way I could minetweak the multiblock version.

Adding a new mineral deposit for IE's excavators was also pretty simple. There's now a grudge deposit that provides equal amounts of grudge lumps (the storage block for grudge) and polymetallic ore. Not sure if I should add any other drops or adjust the form of them. The weights are also completely opaque, I have no clue what the weights are for the existing ore deposits so I'm just using one that the ftb wiki claims is the same as iron.

Honestly, there's not much different now. I'd honestly suggest giving one of the big kitchen sinks a try and see what you like and don't like.

Other than a few names being changed (Big Reactors is now Extreme Reactors, Ztones is now Xtones) and a few "staple" mods are gone (Thaumcraft and Witchery) it feels no different.

You can however automate plants in insane speeds using Garden Cloches from Immersive Engineering. It's a plant in a tube, going super fast. But as far as little dudes doing automation, there's suprisingly little.

Plus I never really understood the appeal of Golems so I was able to just ignore the fact that Thaumcraft is gone.

Oh shit, it actually works. If you want to use Immibis microblocks with Mekanism cables, add these lines to immibis-microblocks.cfg:
tileEntityClass: +codechicken.multipart.TileMultipart

Which will probably also work with other FMP mods.
Note, however, that because FMP is an amazing mod, you'll often get crashes when trying to break Immibis microblocks that are connected to FMP parts because FMP tries to render the wrong particles. So in the end I have to guess if it's really worth doing, I mean you're already using forge multibloat if you place a Mek pipe so you won't gain anything from using Immibis covers on them.

Mechanics for the flowers will pretty simple. Chance to spawn based on the amount of a given ore beneath the surface. Ore does not guarantee flowers, and flowers may occasionally spawn without ore, but large patches of them are a strong indicator of a specific ore.

Ok friends, I've run into a problem planning the Toxic Jungle worldmap.

For so long, I've banked on using my lightweight mod that just adds a new "cloud layer" that looks just like slowly undulating dark seawater at y=0, and the oceans were literally just voids. This makes painting the map easy, lessens the CPU load and makes oceans uncrossable without an airship, all intended.

But a large part of the world lore are the buried substrates; long Nihei-like, ceramete tunnels of monstrous size beneath the earth from a long dead civilization.

If I use the flat plane at y=0, I cant bury substrate passages under the sea as I intended.

I refuse to use normal water for the oceans, as this defeats many of the purposes of the serb, but also can't paint custom liquids in Worldpainter (supports custom block IDs but not for ocean fill). Plus I can't find a mod that adds poisonous (withering would be best, as poisonous would still be traversable, only you'd just be at 1 heart the whole time) water without a bunch of other bloat (looking at you BoP).

Any ideas?

Also, apparently even if you reload minetweaker to put a new ore in an IE mineral definition excavators and such won't update until you reload the world itself. Swapped from the polymetallic ore (because it's meant to behave like coal, not a smeltable) to polymetallic gravel, so both of the resources are 'craft into the base resource' types. Also reduced them each to 25% chance and upped abyssal stone to 50%.

The issue is that 1.12 is not playing well with servers, causing crashes or just making it a coin flip if you join a server or not. But it's a lot less hacky to get server plugins going on modern versions, as compared to 1.7.10 servers.

I just watched a spotlight (made by the author himself) and it seems to be pretty much a lighter TCon with gems, with tools being upgradeable and enchantments that you can apply to tools like you do with Artifice.
The author also made a drills mod that is almost as ugly and has similar features.

you could take it into a round tower design. as round as minecraft gets anyway, it'll wind up being square or an octagon depending how you build out the sides.
(very) faint red outline along tower side to give you an idea where you are building; on the flat boring parts and how far out; very far. You need to pull the base out at least 5 blocks for this to come close to working.
inset colours are rough sketch of what you'd be going for. red is the tower wall, nothing to change there.
blue is the drawn out base and the underside of crenelations.
translucent green is ideas for detailing which you should certainly do on top and bottom so it isn't fucking boring to look at. green inset is to spice it up. make a neat stair-slab thing, something to add interesting detail.
yellow is your crenelations.
the top sketch is trying to send the idea of blue being the base support for the crenelations, yellow are the actual divides, red being large supports for the roof. I gave up at the purple line, do whatever for the roof I aint got time for that shit. I'd leave it open because fuck it. and if you make a roof it'll look like a cock. I mean it's a large erect structure, someone will always make a dick joke.

tl;dr google old stone square towers, see what happens. chances are it'll look like a big grey blocky square so you have to figure out your own texture and colour palette. have fun!

Eh, I think so, but I don't know about how. If it's not a shit mod it's usually sufficient to just disable its own worldgen via config and use the other mod's equivalent in recipes, but sure some modders are asswipes and don't have native oredic support.

God damn it I'm starting to remember why he lost interest in Minecraft in the first place.

I've been thinking of getting back into Minecraft and I also just wanted to run it on my new computer to benchmark it (my old computer struggled to run Minecraft, I'm not joking.)

I really have forgotten what a tire fire Java is. I have installed several different versions of Java on my new Arch Linux system and anything but the proprietary Java 7 runtime won't load in that gives errors. I just wanted to see how autism blocks runs in my new computer with flashy Shader mods. I'm not surprised something owned by Microsoft is a hassle to use on anything other than they're globalist niger plantation. I hope Trump nukes India for this.

Also, haven't looked for it yet but are there any hentai mods? If I'm going to play a game synonymous with autism I might as well go all the way.

as for Lenox, after you've used it for a few years window starts to feel like a krutoy. This especially true once you get used to using the terminal and get used to using a tiling Window Manager like i3. it's not just paranoia and libertarianism that makes me refuse to use anything else.

I figured out how to get it to work anyway. I remembered from installing Minecraft on my laptop (running Manjaro which can play Minecraft at playable frame rates) that Minecraft on Linux will not work with Java 7. MultiMC was trying to run Java 7, which the Antergos installer had preinstalled for me.

I never did much with mods back when I played Minecraft around 2012 or 2013. Any must-haves aside from OptiFine?

I know someone made a dating sim mod where you could romance Hostile Mobs. It appears cute anime girls when you talked to them. I'll probably add that to my "insanity" mod pack. the Spider Queen mod is also kind of sexual in its own way.

What I'm really looking are mods that give me more infrastructure to reduce monotonous grinding for resources andsupport exploration. Iris like tell Minecraft single player was about building your own private civilization so im disappointed to see Mojang added nothing but useless crap for creative mode.

I also would really love it if there's a magic mud that integrates well with a technology more like thermacraft. I love fantasy and I'm always disappointed and frustrated with writers ignoreing or segregateing technology in there settings.

I am talking about procedural dungeons (generated using Recurrent Complex). Traps are fun. So are puzzles, but like >>195910703 said it's hard to stop people from just bypassing a puzzle. I suppose a solution could be to make the "exit" of a puzzle hidden. Some kind of hidden door or similar that you wouldn't know to look for.

Anyway, I want to expand on the ADVENTURE and lore of my modpack, so I wanna build some dungeons. I plan on having a lot of hidden rooms and such. A recurring theme in the pack is going to be the relics of some kind of ancient precursor Lovecraftian race, probably tied into Thaumcraft a bit, so I need lots of forgotten alien temples and stuff

What does /mcg/ like to get out of a dungeon? Loot, obviously, but what kind of loot? Just normal-ass crafting materials are kind of boring, but giving rare materials is problematic because it can lead to bypassing progression.
