Previous thread >>197140065

>What the fuck is this
/indie/ is the general for all indie games, such as A Hat in Time, Hollow Knight, RUINER, Cuphead, Heat Signature, Steamworld Dig 2, LISA, Yume Nikki, OFF, Middens, Underrail, OneShot, Rimworld, Age of Decadence, VA-11 HALL-A, Subnautica, Machinarium, DashBored, Darkwood, Card City Nights 2, Braid, Monolith, Rain World, Axiom Verge, Guacamelee, The Desolate Hope, West Of Loathing, Stardew Valley, etc. as well as other games that just don't fit in any other general such as Atelier, Rayman, Pillars Of Eternity, Rise Of Nations, and Valkyria Chronicles. Absorbed the /lite/ general some time ago and /jrpg/ is welcome.
A Hat In Time has its own general for the time being.

Mobile or consoles, flash or unity, freeware or early access. This place is a home for the indie game community and indie and obscure games that don't have a home. So be free to talk and share all your hidden gems, forgotten games and starving devs here.

>Can I talk about games that already have a general?
We mostly discuss games that are not popular enough for their own threads (since they have no other home in /vg/), however, all indie games are allowed. So talk about them if you want, but don't overdo it since you already have other generals for that.

>How can I contribute?
All we need right now is people to talk about their loved indie and miscellaneous games, so don't be afraid to post, bump and reply your fellow anons. Also we're looking for anons to make new pastebins/wikis/images and update the ones already made. And please give lots of feel, love, kind and nice to everyone, except namefags. And be sure to make a new thread if nobody else does.

So. Dev test branch updated again. What could it be this time? Could it be truly happening, for real?
>>
>>197614780
lol, you're faster than styg.

Friday's update was the first release candidate for 1.0.3, this one is the second after a weekend's worth of bugfixes. I'm trying to push Styg to put it on experimental branch but the man won't budge. ;__;

Nevertheless, 1.0.3 should be out on experimental branch later this week. Next monday at worst.

What is this? If I had to guess, it's a western JRPG, probably made in RPGMaker.
>>
>>197625063
i'm not sure the combat is "deep" but it certainly is fast and you got a lot of skills to use and choose from. They are implementing the final part of the skill tree with the next update on the 14th. you got 4 elements and one neutral stance, each one with dash, guard, throw, melee special attacks and each one of those with at least 2 to choose from AND they all have lvl 1, lvl 2 and lvl 3 versions with the lvl 3 ones basically filling the whole screen.
>>
I'm to used to Dwarf Fortress.

Why the fuck does it take so long just to get one colonist, why is it so difficult to train up a weapon skill, why can't i just create my own pawns with their own skills/traits instead of rerolling shit like it's a 90s CRPG. Where's the z-levels and madlib generated monsters?

It's an action RPG with leveling, equipment, stats and huge dungeons with puzzle solving
>>
>>197625265
Well you correctly guessed that it was western so I guess you're not completely retarded.
>>

Rimworld doesn't want you having too many colonists because the devs can't into pathfinding.

How many moves does the player have access to at any one time, and how many of those are redundant and basically worthless?
>>

Thanks.
>>197625465
I might be. Even a retard can recognize weeb animu art. And since it's weeb crap, it was easy to assume JRPG. And since this is /indie/, RPGmaker was the most likely option.

>Because you'll cheat.

Cheat what?

>Up your fucking ass.

Sorry for wanting to have fun
>>
>>197625653
the player has access to all the moves of the current element which you can switch with a single button press. I haven't seen any redundant ones, they all fill totally different roles. Like one will hit enemies and push them away, another will hit them and pull them close. you choose which one to equip. Another one will hit all enemies in a row, another will hit the first enemy in a roll only for more damage and a slight stun. etc...
There is a free demo.
>>

Those were my last 2 quests in my journal.
I didnt do much in Junkyard regarding Scrappers and Eels, that will be for the next playthrough.
I also have some quest items I did not turn in : Strange power cell and Bloody mobile Computer.
>>
>>197642883
The strange power cell is just for rail crossing, it lets you disable their robots from a distance. The mobile computer is the only way to find out about the Acid Hunters if you fuck up during the main questline, forgot exactly what fucks it up.
>>
>>197642623
I should probably add that you should bring more repair kits than usual, but whatever, you have crafting so you sohuld be able to make them on the fly.

You're about to go through something that made a lot of c̶a̶s̶u̶a̶l̶ less patient players quit the game. I hope you aren't one of them. Don't get frustrated too quickly and you should be fine.

>>197642883
You didn't find Nevil yet? You might want to do that before descending, it's a cool quest.

You might want to test that XAL as well, there's a really funny sequence if you do every quest for Georgis.

>I also have some quest items I did not turn in : Strange power cell and Bloody mobile Computer.
Neither of those is something you have to turn in to someone.
>>
>>197643258

I let them be. I figured they're past biocorp employees?

I can see why people didnt like DC, but its the essence of the game to me. Not understanding whats going on, trying to find your way in a maze like cavern, its also beautiful. In a few screens it manages to suck me in. I was going east at first for the Faceless outpost but got sidetracked, entered some buildings, killed some aliums, now I'm there.
Is that him?

They're spawning infinitely once the Creeping Dread debuff reaches 20 stacks and turns into Eye of Tchort

You're supposed to explore before the debuff reaches 20 stacks and hide to reset it. On some maps there are hatches, you can hide there.

The game is set in a distant future, when the life on the Earth’s surface has long since been made impossible and the remnants of humanity now dwell in the Underrail, a vast system of metro station-states that, it seems, are the last bastions of a fading race.

The player takes control of one of the denizens of such a station-state whose life is about to become all that much more interesting and dangerous, as our protagonist is caught midst the conflicting factions of the Underrail as the violently struggle to survive in the harsh underground environment.
>>
>>197661436
Retardedly ambitious extragalactic setting with time travel and ayys and shit; but we know nothing more than bits about the Timelapse Vertigo background.

You play a hobo holed up in some tunnels centuries after the Earth was fucked up so the actual gameplay takes place in a very down-to-earth (huehuehue) post-post-post-apocalyptic scifi setting.

alright, found the 'exit' with the elevator and the dozen burrowers warriors in there, I just dont have enough bullets anymore.
Will load back tomorrow for my true mission.

Some of you guys who have maybe played the game more than once, how do you feel about balance of different characters ? I feel like only now in the true 'endgame' I realize the weaknesses of my AR/tank character, mainly being extremely reliant on the good ammo type, which is I guess true for all guns characters, but also the very high AP cost of everything I do. Doesnt help that I only now found the doctor's pouch, I didnt know what it was before but its just extremely good, I ditched my groin guard. Many of those special items could be better balanced, too.
Another question, why so few items with a blue name? I only found two so far, excluding tier2 blueprints : the boxing gloves and a shiv. I was expecting more items with that rarity tier.

see you tomorrow

Rimworld.

I have this method for procedurally generating text.

And I've always been somewhat dissatisfied in art description that Rimworld has.

I could try and make this work as a mod for the game.

What do you think, /vg/?

Some results of text generation:

A woman hugs a man as he puts the scissors to his protruding tongue, as if to say, "what I'm I supposed to do?
A large propeller airplane parked halfway inside of a large building with the clock.
A large white truck with police lights and markings pulling a horse on a street ahead of construction equipment
A man holding up a kite on a beach has footprints leading away from a propeller plane.
A messy computer workstation covered with papers and a vase on a small grill attached to the wall a short distance away.
A wedding picture of a person dressed like a colonial in the middle of the forest.
A zebra standing near a large glass of wine near a man sitting at a table with some papers
a person that is snowboarding in a green field
Carrots and cauliflower are cooking on a floured tray.
The pregnant woman is posing for a picture with a fire in the fire station.
Two differently shaped books with different colors are in a white shirt, jeans, and a baseball bat at a ball
Two double decker buses parked in a parking lot next to an ocean pier.
thERE IS A CLOCK THAT IS NOT VERY STEEP
The official in a yellow jacket is doing a skateboard trick.
The man is holding his bicycle and doing tricks in a parking lot talking on a cellphone.

Guys I need a new roguelite game. I really enjoyed FTL and binding of Isaac and have played the shit out of them. One thing that turns me off of most newer released roguelites is the whole meta progression thing. I just dislike that the only thing standing between me and victory is some kind of items or upgrades I haven't unlocked yet. The only thing that should stop me from winning is me being bad and/or not knowing how things work. I've also tried roguelikes but in those I really dislike the barrier of entry where you need to read a whole library before you can even start doing things.

TL;DR: Looking for roguelites, no meta progression, low barrier of entry, progress mostly dependent on skill / knowledge.

>>197707871
Yeah, I really dislike meta-progression. Are there maybe roguelikes that are easy to get into?

>>197708653
Okay, let me rephrase that: if a game is made in such way that the only way to progress is
A. to hit my head on a wall for hours until I figure out how something works because the game dev didn't find it necessary to explain shit or
B. open a game wiki to figure out how shit works
I won't play the game.
>>
>>197708985
Hmm. Okay. But I wouldn't say roguelikes have much of those downsides. Generally speaking they have complex, but not too obscure systems. You learn from your mistakes, reading everything from a wiki beforehand would only make it easier. But they certainly won't spoonfeed anything to you, you're expected to learn things by yourself as you play.

thats what I thought but the one I have right now is good enough anyway, just wanted to see how high resistances could get with good quality components.

Went through the Ark station or whatever is called, that was annoying as fuck. Plenty of doors I couldnt open, found yet another drive shaft, the 3rd one now, hope I didnt miss anything in there because I dont want to return.
For some reason the Faceless in Talos outpost shoot me on sight now. Is it because I looted the supplies north of the outpost? I know there is a Gaunt following me everywhere there. Maybe I should have asked first. Its too late anyway.
I didnt understand what those power things were supposed to do. Found 3, turned them all off, and this happened in one of the rooms. I know about bio resistant gear but it seems this door wouldnt open no matter what. Temporarily deactivating security did nothing and cameras spotted me everywhere I went.
Now I just found an old man in a locker, in some caves. I still need 1 more component and 3 canisters. Its a bit boring honestly.
>>
>>197708985
Playing a roguelike isn't hitting your head against a wall, its exploring and figuring out naturally how certain systems work from experimentation. That's the entire fun of it.
You're not supposed to read the wiki or anything beyond the readme.
Its impossible to hit your head against the wall if you have an IQ above celsius room temperature because actual progression is simple as fuck with no restriction and you aren't forced to do anything only one specific way. If you die it's a learning experience and you can play again trying different tactics with the same build or try something entirely new with a different class, different god, etc. Over time you get better because of your knowledge.
Few roguelites manage to reproduce this, instead they just have you grind for stats over multiple lives like Rogue Legacy.

Have you reached the power console and IRIS? If no, you're going back.

>For some reason the Faceless in Talos outpost shoot me on sight now.
Were they friendly to begin with or have they told you to stay away from their territory?

Have you accepted any quests from Tchortists?

Maybe you attacked one of them on accident?

Or maybe you walked into a building they didn't allow you to?

>I didnt understand what those power things were supposed to do. Found 3, turned them all off, and this happened in one of the rooms.
You get trapped and gassed if the cameras spot you walking into specific rooms.

>I know about bio resistant gear but it seems this door wouldnt open no matter what.
They open up eventually if you survive for long enough.

>Temporarily deactivating security did nothing
It turns cameras and turrets off for quite some time.
>>
>>197726872
I have 130 hacking.
every single computer I could use either had
1. temporarily disable security, which seems to do nothing
2. open doors to IRIS to which the voice replied some bullshit everytime
3. exit

Its alright with the Faceless, turns out I 'forgot' to talk to the one guarding the entrance and they turned hostile, loaded the autosave and its fine.
I didnt accept any quests from Tchortists, only this old guy who wants his knife and I'm getting really annoyed now having to deal with all the tchortlings monsters, there just isnt enough hatches and I'm really slow. Am I wrong thinking a stealth character would have a much easier time in DC ?

>They open up eventually if you survive for long enough.
alright I'll go back in here I need this IRIS thing anyway.

So I'm back at the outpost. I'm afraid this guy will realize I'm being a little bitch, crossing both the tchortists and faceless ?
>>
>>197728196
nvm its all good.

>>
>>197728196
>I have 130 hacking.
Then you should be able to open all the hackable doors. You should also be able to get out of gassed rooms that way, the doors are hackable after shutting down.

The rest you are supposed to find keys for. Usually you will find a key to the next room in the last room you had a key for.

>every single computer I could use either had
>1. temporarily disable security, which seems to do nothing
It should disable cameras and turrets if your hacking/electronics is high enough. Maybe your electronics are too low?

If not this is a bug, which would be weird since I never saw anyone report a bug like this.

>open doors to IRIS to which the voice replied some bullshit everytime
This will start working once you reach the power console and re-direct the power.

>only this old guy who wants his knife and I'm getting really annoyed now having to deal with all the tchortlings monsters, there just isnt enough hatches and I'm really slow.
This guy can actually help you with that if you find his knife. Search the corpses.

> Am I wrong thinking a stealth character would have a much easier time in DC ?
No, not really. This is a common misconception actually.

A stealth character can just sneak past all the tchortlings, but tchortlings will never spawn to begin with if you hide before the debuff reaches 20 stacks. It's much faster to explore at full speed and hide for a few seconds before the debuff reaches 20 stacks every once in a while that to crawl at 30% speed in stealth while also having to worry about getting spotted or bumping into a tchortling.

Builds with high armor penalty do have less time to explore because of their slow speed though. Find the knife for Leo and talk to him, he will help.

>So I'm back at the outpost. I'm afraid this guy will realize I'm being a little bitch, crossing both the tchortists and faceless ?
Not if you didn't accept any quests from them.

Protip for creating fun late-game characters in Heat Signature: favor dudes with a personal mission that involves stealing expensive shit, the reward is worth over 1k. Just suicide other characters.

Do a handful audacious missions on the way to that and once you're done with the personal mish, you should have about 2k. Spend all it on gambling equipment and resell any boring crap you get. You will get self-recharging variants of most gear. Now you have a fun character with infinite charges on mostly everything. Kinda like defectors but without the limitations. Sidewinders, key cloners, but most importantly crashbeams. With a luck you'll get some good armor-piercing weapons too, but you will need liberation unlocks for a reliable armor-piercing weapon source.

>>197738840
Yeah, I can tell you suck but it's not a game you can lose. Infinite replacement characters.
>>
>>197738908
What. You get those after the character is finished. You won't contribute any meaningful amounts of liberation points at that point, so the toys are just for dicking around.
>>
>>197738908
>>197739048
Besides, the game is fukken easy even for fresh characters. You have a pause mode and 8 weapon slots, weapons effectively have no cooldown. The only "challenge" is gear-grinding to deal with large numbers of perma-shielded and armored guards. (I like to capture all ships for that extra challenge)

Some clauses like ghost are fun too, but it takes a lot of rerolling to get fun and challenging audacious missions with nice clauses.

Anyway, enough rant, what should I do now.

Deep Caverns claim another poor soul! You are lucky you didn't play it when the game was released. I still loved it back then. Anyways:

Pro tip: Talk to Leo and ask him questions. Especially about the Mushroom Forest.

Casual explanation: Go to the mushroom forest and inhale the spores until you pass out

I'd like to say that was hit-and-miss decision, but frankly it was mostly miss. Few people loved it, but most reacted like you did.

It's not even that cryptic anymore. Leo and Six used to be waaay less talkative at the release.
>>
>>197745401
Yeah. At this point I'm starting to believe the problem is that DC is the only part of the game where you can't solve everything by mindlessly killing shit and moving on. For most of the game not paying attention to anything is punished mildly. You will miss out on a lot, but won't be forced to think to progress.

>>
>>197746567
The last one. But also the debuff used to take much longer to disappear, so you had to sit in the bunker twiddling your thumbs for an annoyingly long time every few minutes. The enemies had more HP too, and the burrowers in front of Arke respawned, forcing most players to deal with them at least twice.
>>
>>197746801
Yes, but the guy is now accusing everyone of secretly demanding maps, even if they never even mentioned it. So they are just spamming personal insults now.

Fuck man, I'm not happy about the map either, but holy shit.
>>
>>197747165
The only thing I dislike about the addition of the map is that now they have a reason to not add in-game clues and directions anymore.

As long as the maps don't affect the game design in any way I couldn't care less, but that's how it starts.
>>
>>197747605
Yeah, I see your point. You can choose to use the map or not, but if they add one, they'll stop giving you directions.
>>
>>197747605
Exactly. The problem is not that it's there, but what it could imply for the future. Whether you click on it or not doesn't matter shit for a shift in design direction. If that doesn't happen then we are good.
>>
>>197747165
Oh it's that guy. I'm starting to like how much butthurt the map caused.

>>197747605

Don't worry, there are no plans to stop doing that. They've also been fixing bugs with some of the old signs not working correctly.
>>
>>197748118
What the fuck is that thing.

>>

>Don't worry, there are no plans to stop doing that.
Yet. I'm worried about the cover shooter.
>>
>>197747605
>As long as the maps don't affect the game design in any way
In any way? Well, that already happened. They fixed the impossible geometry between some transitions, so there's a bunch of new zones. However, they opted to keep under-passages the way they are - a nice shortcut.

>>197748468
A waterfall from the ceiling?

Quest compass or whatever was definitely trolling, but I honestly don't know all of Styg's evil plans (he might implement some crazy slav weirdness map-related game mechanic in the future, but you never know which fraction of planned ideas they end up implementing.)
But it won't replace written clues and directions. At least that's the plan and I trust them.
>>
>>197749559
>A waterfall from the ceiling?
Ooh, nice. Without seeing an animation I could not tell if it was a waterfall or a rock column. Good on Styg for making new art.
>>
>>197750115
Sorry, I'm too lazy to whip up webms. But yeah, there's lots of new water animations. It's as if they've been working on a water themed expansion or something.

The old water tiles (original styg mspaint art!) start to look really silly once you see the new water in-game, with waves crashing into shores and stalagmites.
>>
>>197750565
S'cool, we'll see it (?) soon enough. The new water tiles really do look extremely good in the gifs and the video. Getting several different waterfalls when not even rivers moved before is cool as fuck. And I especially love the bobbing bouoys.

Oh wait, pandering is bad when it's pandering to a group I don't like, right.

And funny enough there was a guy on eightchan making a game pandering to rapist pedophiles. The same IB that has a bigger SJWcrusade boner than this place while having less people on it. So are you referring to me or not? You seem pretty shaky on that point.

>Oh wait, pandering is bad when it's pandering to a group I don't like, right.
Unambiguously correct, yes. Pandering to homicidal religious extremists would be bad, pandering to civil rights activists would range from anywhere between "less bad" to "good" depending on your definition of "civil rights". It's pretty obvious that pandering to particular groups can be bad. Of course, you're not actually trying to argue whether pandering to a particular group can be bad, you're simply trying to discredit the idea that pandering to a particular group could be bad because you think it's a stronger argument than what you're actually trying to argue, which is whether pandering to SJWs is bad. If that were not the ultimate aim of your argument then you'd have no problem admitting that pandering to a particular group can be bad.

>rant about some guy on ocho-chan and how (I/no one) ever complained about him
I'm not responsible for what other people do or don't complain about so this isn't even worth addressing unless you're telling me I should've been complaining about some douche on some forum I don't browse, which is patently absurd. Regarding your earlier point about whether pandering to a particular group one doesn't like is bad, what exactly is your position on this guy that you brought up who is/was pandering to child molesters? Is that bad or not? I've already clearly stated my position on the matter by comparing pandering to child molesters as worse than pandering to innocuous interests, so what's your position?

> I'm not referring to you. I'm talking about the "Fuck pandering," group as a whole

This is what I said. I don't know how you can be confused at all when it's clear as day.

And what am I actually trying to argue? One of my first responses was sarcasm as to why people cared about what the damn nose on a character in a first person game. If you have to distort what I'm saying and pretending you're discrediting me while not actual saying anything other than, 'You're wrong, I'm right, stop talking," then I can't say I'm surprised. It's what I expect.

I thought I made my last point was pretty clear as well, but you flat out said you're confused as to whether I'm talking about you or a group directly quoting me answering that before you even asked I don't think you'll ever get it. Whether or not you're deliberately being obtuse so you have more leeway here or if you actually don't understand? And that's not even getting into you comparing pedophiles and violent religious groups to sheltered college kids who think making tweets and holding up signs while screaming during an event is doing anything to help society. Anyway, I made it clear I was referring to "Fuck pandering," as a whole. You going "whatabout me?" doesn't disprove what I said. This is like a black person going, "I never committed a crime!" When someone brings up how high the crime rate is for black people.

Not really. Most of the adventure games I played either fall into Sierra style or were piss easy. Primordia I guess was like a Beneath a Steel Sky with more logical puzzles, but the difficulty wasn't much there either. It's not easy to design puzzles that are both logical and difficult I guess.
>>
>>197840335
It's similar. Someone one mentions something as a collective, and your attempt at disproving them is to show that you specifically are not like the whole they're referring to. Which is a pointless to make since the person is talking about a specific group and not you so whatever you're saying about yourself being a snowflake means fuck all to what they're talking about. The fact that they're going out of their way to show how much they're different to disprove something that shouldn't bother them raises enough flags as it is.

There's a tortoise and a hare.

The hare is talking about tortoises who want to race hares and complain when they lose.

The tortoise chimes in to say the hare is wrong because the tortoise himself doesn't challenge hares to races and doesn't complain if he loses.

The hare replies that he wasn't talking about the specifically tortoise. He was talking about tortoises who do what he was talking about earlier.

The tortoise continues to go on about how he's confused as to who the hair is talking about all while still saying the hare is wrong for what he said because the tortoise himself does not do those things.

You're being deliberately obtuse when you say that you're clearly referring to people who aren't me and then directly address arguments I made with counterarguments of your own, such as this counterargument you provided to me:
>Oh wait, pandering is bad when it's pandering to a group I don't like, right.
Which is obviously in direct reference to points I made and not at all a counterargument to some nebulous group of others.
Further, I specifically quoted a portion of your post where you complain ambiguously about both me and other people simultaneously and you've completely refused to dispel said ambiguity:
>Of course you no one ever complained about him
>Of course you no one
You literally use "you" in this sentence, referring to me. Your intent is pretty obvious there, whether the word snuck in as a sort of freudian slip or whether it was what you typed initially and then intended to go back and correct with "no one" when you realized that claiming that I specifically had failed to complain about some random schmuck I'd never heard of would weaken your argument.

Your refusal to admit that pandering to one group could be worse than pandering to another when presented with an extremely clear cut example is tantamount to conceding the point and further admission as to what you were actually working towards in the first place, and pretending that SJWs have had no effect on society with their presence and actions is completely disingenuous.

>You going "whatabout me?" doesn't disprove what I said. This is like a black person going, "I never committed a crime!" When someone brings up how high the crime rate is for black people.
Again, you attempted to provide a counterargument to a point that I had made and directly referenced me in the aforementioned quoted statement. Even if you hadn't, you're obviously not attempting to provide counterarguments to a group of people not present by replying to me. You're replying to me, you're arguing against my points.

Again, this is a totally disingenuous representation of the situation and a lazy out of being held responsible for your argument. You can't reply to an argument with a counterargument specifically crafted as a response to that argument and then claim that you never intended it as a counterargument for that specific case. And again, you specifically addressed me in part of your reply and when I pointed out the "error" and gave you an opportunity to address it and rectify your statement you instead opted to pretend you had no idea what I was talking about.
You embarrass yourself .

Actually, to further address the ridiculousness of comparing this scenario to the argument at hand, it's more like
>tortoise loses race to hare and complains about specific points that give the hare an advantage in a race
>hare attempts to specifically refute the points made by the tortoise while claiming that he is not in fact addressing the points made by the tortoise and is in fact arguing against other tortoises who have made similar arguments
>hare even has a verbal slip up during this refutation, stating "well, you said-err, I mean, some other tortoise said..."
>tortoise points out that the hare has in fact attempted to argue against the points of the tortoise while shielding his argument from criticism by falsely claiming that he was attempting to argue against points made by some other tortoise at some point in time
>hare goes on to claim the tortoise is being unreasonable in attempting to refute the hare's counterarguments because, despite being crafted to counter the tortoise's points, they were not in fact aimed at the tortoise
And let's not forget the childish immaturity of constructing an example in which you are the victorious hare and your opponent the defeated turtle.

And still you COMPLETELY fail to address the clear cut example that demonstrates that pandering to one group can be worse than another because it torpedoes your entire point.

>And again, no shit I'm arguing against you when you're claiming my argument's wrong because you're a special snowflake and not who I'm talking about.

You posit that there is inherent issue with selective complaints about pandering. I provide a clear and totally irrefutable (unless you're going to go fully moral relativist) example of why there is justification in selective complaints about pandering. You conveniently ignore this point and continue to whinge about how you were never in fact attempting to argue with me directly and were instead complaining about selective complaints about pandering, despite the fact that I've refuted the point repeatedly and you've simply plugged your ears and ignored it.

>Oh wait, it's because they disagree with your political views and advocate for something else that anything pandering to them is on that level.
Again, your tacit admission that all pandering is not equal and that there are things that creators would more rightfully deserve criticism for having been pandered to. Once again you've proven that you're not actually arguing about the inconsistency of selective pandering at all or you would have no trouble simply admitting that pandering to child molesters is worse than pandering to SJWs (an example I've used before although I actually more charitably referred to them as civil rights advocates, but still an example which does not, either way, place SJWs on the same level as pedophiles or religious extremists).

It's staring you in the face. You're not arguing about inconsistently applied complaints regarding pandering.

Is pandering to child molesters better, worse, or the same as pandering to model train enthusiasts? Are people who complain about pandering to child molesters more justified in their complaints than people who complain about pandering to model train enthusiasts?

I replayed HM specifically because of a small article who explain that Jacket was actually very juvenile, focusing on immediate gratification rather than bothering with the grand scale. That's supposely why, in the end, you see him playing with a small ball instead of paying attention to the outside world.

I had high hopes for this game, bought it a couple of years ago but had to return it ASAP.
It was total crap.
This game will never be finished. There are not enough people on the team. They know it, we know it.
It's just a money grab. The DEVS are making a living off of it but will never be able to deliver.

See for yourself. The game has been out for 3 years - do the math. 10 more years should do it.
Valve shouldn't even allow something like this - a game that has no chance of being finished in a decade....on Steam.

This is DEV welfare at it's best and it's a real shame that the DEVS just don't come clean and admit it's never going to get finished in what the majorityof people would call a reasonable amount of time.
It's been 3 years, it should have been finished. Is 10 years ok with you?

You don't understand the point of early access. If the game was already in a finished, polished state, there wouldn't be time for people to provide feedback and potentially change critical systems.

Ideally, you'd have your own website or do a closed alpha to exit that phase before hitting steam, but not every dev has the resources and existing fanbase to do that. Steam provides these things.

Stop embarassing yourself. It's not rigged.

Infestation spawn criteria is complex (many factors like distance from unroofed tiles, light, temperature, human activity, even floor/wall types) but it's also easily controllable and in favor of the player in all factors except temperature. It's possible to build completely undermountain bases with miniscule chances of getting bugspawns in them, that's how I always roll. You just gotta provide them a better spawn environment off your base.

>>197918998
They want warm, dark caves out of the way and as deep into mountains as possible. Take a look at the debug view for infestation spawn chance to get an idea how much all the different factors weigh.

Fundamentally all you have to do is keep your undermountain base well lit and full of people at all times with smoothed floors and artificial walls, while leaving some large mining tunnels open for bugs to spawn in. This way you can also easily deal with the bugs when they spawn, just start a fire in the other end of their tunnel and seal it off. Arguable this makes the game too easy, but eh, whatever. It takes skill to pull it off successfully.

I haven't been lighting some of my hallways/storage properly so I'll do that. Maybe make a little heated room in a cavern?
>>
>>197919601
It's not that simple. You fail to notice one tile that's stone roof (instead of undermountain), everything changes. You miss one unroofed tile, your plans are royally fucked up. You make a spawn area too small for the bugs or have large unlit areas in your base (eg. hydroponics at night), you get bugs. Look at the debug view for it if you want to have a solid feel of how the system works, otherwise you'll just come back screaming when bugs spawn in the middle of your dining room or whatever.

>>
>>197920218
If you want to get rid of your huskies in a messy way, yes. I was pointing that out as a common flaw that gives bugs a very high probability of spawning inside a critical area of your base. Greenhouses don't usually see a lot of foot traffic, only at harvest time. And they're dark during night time ever since Tynan fucked up sun lamps and made them shut down automatically for the night. If you keep doggo guards inside your greenhouses 24/7, that might discourage bugs from spawning there, I'm not sure.

It's definitely what the bug does to Ambush. Save the game and it won't work when it clearly should, load the game and it will work as intended. See the webm.

Not sure if it actually lowers the light level all the way to 0, but it's definitely lowered, enough to put NPCs below the illumination threshold required for Ambush to work.

I think I get it, by "oscillating light" you mean light sources that flicker and constantly change their light level a little bit, as opposed to static lights that keep the same light level at all times?

Because I actually can't reproduce this on the sniper lady nearby, standing right next to a lamp with static light. Well, not entirely. Ambush works after saving the game but I still get a precision boost after loading and sure enough night vision goggles do nothing.

I'm confused now, it's entirely different in static light. Still bugged, but apparently not in the same way.

But how do you explain that night vision goggles stop working after loading if the NPC is in static light, but work fine in oscillating lights, even though you get a precision boost in both cases?

Also, does that mean standing right next to a fire barrel doesn't make the target illuminated enough to make ambush work? The light level right next to the barrel looks high.

Anyone here play Exanima? Do you guys think Sui Generis will ever be released.
>>
Is it possible to play hollow knight on windows Vista? It says Win7 minimum but is that a hard minimum? I've gotten games like that going before. Please no bully btw.
>>
I know someone already asked, but what mods do you guys have for Rimworld? and is the top mod Psychology any good?
>>
Have we seriously lost anon to the Deep Caverns? That's depressing.
>>
>>197965001
Fucking hell, I'm seriously going to make a pastebin of all the mods I use.

Get EdB Prepare Carefully, it's the most important one, it let you pick your team instead of having a semi-random one.
>>
>>197963748
Probably, there aren't many important differences between Vista and 7. Devs often set minimum requirements to whatever platform they're developing/testing on. Pirate to test compatibility.
>>
>>197962685
Exanima is damn good taste. I have no idea if SG will ever make it, it's hard to get any verdict without seeing their finance records.
>>
>>197965503
Is that only good for beginners? I have 70 hours

>They just set up a mortar and launch incendiaries directly into my wooden base
>Launch a last ditch assault on them
>Everyone ends up injured, dead or kidnapped
>Try and move what people I can into a little abandoned building
>One of the people left alive paths through the fire to get some food
>Meanwhile the fire increases in size and lags the fuck out of my computer

I'm mostly angry at the pathing for taking him through a tiny bit of fire, realising what a mistake that was, then pathing through the big wall of flame ending him.
>>

Basically you need either mortars or snipers before your first siege shows up.

Why is Locus+Enrage so useful yet so boring in comparison to Locus+Bilocation?
>>
>>197968624
Because Locus+Mental Breakdown a best
>>
>>197968624
Locus+Bilocation only works well in large open spaces. I tried to pull it off once in a corridor, it was a disaster.
>>
>>197962685
>>197966282
They're doing a lot of under the hood work on Exanima that should be useful going forward with Sui Generis, which means that, despite the fact that Exanime development (and by extension Sui Generis development) has slowed to a crawl, they should theoretically hit a point where content generation is much simpler, making the completion of Sui Generis possible.

Or not.
>>
Spears in Exanima need to be longer, the one currently in the game is a pathetic length of roughly 5 feet. The true spearman has 7 feet or greater.
>>
When you think about how many player never finishes DC, turns out Six actually has a godawful track-record with his predictions.
>>
>>197971731
>feet
Please use a metric system, because I imagine a guy trying to hold several cut feet.
>>
>>197971993
A 7 foot spear is 2.13 meters, whereas a 5 foot spear is manlet sized at 1.52 meters.
>>
>>197965452
Yeah it's pretty sad if that's the case. He didn't complain much before reaching DC, I thought he would make it.

Did this game always have subbosses?
>>
>>197972085
Now I wonder how long are the spears in Dark Souls, they're my references when it comes to polearms.
I remember Shogun 2 allowing you to field units with very long spears.
>>
>>197971796
I wonder if that's why Expedition is going to be a midgame expansion. Imagine the butthurt if it was necessary to beat DC to reach the expansion content.
>>
>>197972497
Very long spears such as pikes would be cool in Exanima, but only for formation fighting and if we could get into a guard stance with the spear held out constantly. They'd be too unwieldy for dueling with. The standard spear in Dark Souls is a fair bit taller than the character, so about 2 meters sounds right. Not sure about the other variants, especially the oversized fantasy ones.
>>
>>197972904
The problem I see with pike is that they're easy to bypass. With spears or halberds, you can start swinging or hit him with the handle when he comes too close, but with a pike, you can only poke, so once the enemy passed, you're fucked.

And yeah, the spears seems to be slightly bigger than your character, so probably 2 meters, so 6 feet.
>>
>>197972659
I would enjoy every second of the inner conflict of the players who hate DC and mid-game expansions alike. But I think it's just because Styg doesn't want to advance the story before the sequel, and if it's a side-story there is little reason for it to be post-game. Mid-game allows for more interesting changes overall.
>>
>>197974212
That's why pikes are only good in formation, you need a wall of sharp things to give the enemy the lowest possible chance of getting through. It also helps if you have a mixed formation with some pikes and some spears.
>>
>>197972659
At this point Styg could just release a fake patch with nothing different and someone would get butthurt at the changes.
>>
>>197974434
Yeah, they're like the Romans javelins, they're more intended to diminish your ability to fight than really hurt you.
>>
>>197972659
I mean, I can see why some people hate DC. Going from shooting Lurkers at the passages to the clusterfuck that is Hollow Earth probably is pretty harsh if you were expecting a Fallout clone.

Then again you have to be pretty dumb or unexplorative not to notice that it's not a generic garbagepunk story.
>>
>>197974537
Now that's unfair, no one got butthurt at last year's patch. Knife nerf, fonts, and maps are the only post-release changes I can think of that were not received well by everyone.

The Junkyard Surprise nerf will absolutely cause some butthurt though.
>>
>>197975130
>last year's patch
Stop it, that hurts.

Remember when we had new content patches every 3 months?
>>
>>197975412
Sadly I only "remember". I wasn't there to experience it.
>>
>tfw OneShot came out almost a year ago
>>
>>197974876
To some extent I can sympathize with those who complain about the backtracking. Even if you understand what needs to be done and carefully explore every area, it is not all that hard to miss one of the many components or reagents. If you are playing without a cheat sheet trying to find something you missed the first time in DC is like hunting for a needle in the haystack. That definitely would end in very frustrating backtracking.

Now complaining that you have to visit and explore the different areas once? Yeah, they can fuck right off.
>>
>>197976043
>OneShot came out 50 years ago

Lewd mods and really any mods in general didn't exist much when I last played Rimworld

What mods would you guys recommend, i'm bored and horny.

I have a theory. There are two kinds of games.

Good games and games only good for porn mods. Like DF and Rimworld.

How do we stop mainstream indie

Would I miss a lot of lore if I didn't take Persuasion? I want to see most of the game in one playthrough but social skills without Psi are a waste of points and that's already two skills out, which leaves either subterfuge, crafting or combat point-starved.
