The only rules are:
>it must go from left to right
>it must be in black and white

The A-4 was nimble, transonic, and had an exceptional roll rate, making it fantastic for dissimilar air combat training. It represented the MiG-17 perfectly in excercises.

With that attitude, you surely won't. Now tell us what's your planefu and put some effort into it, do you think we were all good at it from day one?
>>200280409
The MiGs were more manoeuvrable almost everywhere, but the F-4, being THE triumph of thrust over aerodynamics, had a much better climb rate and could gain and retain much more energy, and was much faster too. A good F-4 pilot could basically dictate how the fight went all day long, as long as he wasn't stupid.
Wait for Thunder, though, he knows much more than I do.

Alright, buddy, do your best! You are allowed to use references and line tools, so it will be easier. Don't be a pillock and draw in two minutes to "get over it", though, take your time!
If you have a tablet (iPad, galaxy note, etc.), use sketchbook. It's very easy to use and free.
If you ever need help, there's a whole lot of drawfags you can ask.

Liking the trails and tracer fire still. Maybe a bit heavy on the bloom still. As usual, keep it up, it's comming along really nicely.
>>
>>200280986
Oh also, try to make it relatively big if you do it digitally. The original picture I'm working with as is is about 8500x3500 pixels or so, so please do at least 1000x by something. I can always downscale a bit but upscaling usually makes stuff blurry.
>>
>>200280830
>>200280409
I don't really feel like explaining it in depth right now, so here's a halfassed answer. At lower altitudes, air is thicker. Because it's thicker, your wing generates more lift for a given speed. The F-4 has a larger wing than the MiG-21, but weighs relatively more. So the F-4's wing, per square foot, has more weight on it, so the MiG-21's wing is more efficient at generating lift, which helps it turn better.

As you go higher up, the air gets thinner and it's harder to generate lift, so the MiG-21's advantage decreases. The F-4 has more power, so it isn't hampered to the same degree.

The above only applies to early F-4s and non-slatted navy F-4s. The F-4E was more maneuverable than the MiG-21 at all altitudes and most speeds, but was only capable of ~mach 2.2 while the earlier ones did ~mach 2.4

The MiG-17 has as much wing area as the MiG-21, but weighs even less. Basically what I said above but to a greater degree. At ~1,000 AGL the MiG-17 could be pulling 17 degrees a second in a turn until it ran out of fuel. A Navy F-4J could not even hope to turn with it.

AC5 is always matter of whether its merits win out over its flaws or vice-versa, and people are pretty divided on it.
>>
>>200292526
If I'm up to Blind Spot and the only mission I enjoyed was sinking Scinifax, should I continue the rest?
>>
>>200293098
Without spoiling much? The high points are very high, the low points are infuriatingly low, and your teammates never really stop talking.

There are a few more superweapon fights, I'll tell you that much, but they tried to add variety to the missions with gimmicks and in many cases if you just want to get on with it and play they do a better job detracting from the experience than adding to it.

Sorry for the lack of a concrete answer but people are split on it for a reason. Some people find the faults harder to avoid and others won't mind them as much. But you DO have a pretty good idea of the way the game plays by now, high and low, so you should be able to make that call.
>>
>>200291056

5 is a shit game and IMO one of the worst in the series thanks to its garbage delivery.

Gameplay is pretty good though. I'd recommend 4 and Zero as the highlights of the series holistically.
>>
>>200293986
04 had very subdued, confident, and competent storytelling. Zero was a lot more melodramatic but it all felt like it was a part of its larger-than-life nature. Five was... insufferably overwrought.

>>200294082
I hate to admit it, but at the end of the finale I more or less dropped my controller, threw up my hands, and begrudgingly said "GodDAMMIT, that was actually worth it."

But it's much better if you mute your allies' voices and let the scenery and music speak for itself.

>>200294518
Actually, a summation and caveat: If the finale is the summation of everything good about the game (well, plus its exhaustive list of aircraft including some intriguing and obscure gems), the penultimate mission is the summation of everything bad about it.

Unskippable swaths of dialog that drone on and on and on and were a little satisfying the FIRST time you saw them, a stupid level gimmick with a frustrating trip-up at the end, and for all its pomp and bluster they could have done so much more with so much less.

The Real MVP of AC5
>>
Project Wingman-anon you did very well. I hope 07 is as incredible as you made PW
>>
>>200294518
I found the finale of 5 really boring, maybe because I'd played the Infinity SOLG first and when I realised that there was none of that fancy extra stuff they added it's just shooting missiles at a spinning thing and hoping they hit.
And the dogfight before hand is much worse than any dogfight in 0.
>>
>>200295512
5 has too many levels where you have to fly in a straight line for 2 minutes while everyone talks before you actually get somewhere. November City, White Bird Part II, The Finale, probably some others I've forgotten.
>>
>>200296201
Reasonable, but I wouldn't hold it against Megalith that it was more a terrain feature than a fightable superweapon. It was sold more on its presentation, and- bar your teammates' yammering- it did a good job of that. Though I definitely agree the dogfight was really underwhelming.

>>200296634
Agreed. The penultimate mission is just the most concentrated version of that trend. All in all the game really does feel like it's slowing you down not out of pacing but purely so it can finish its monologue.
>>
>>200294264
Yet some people have already joined in
>>
Is 07 confirmed to have multiplayer of any kind? I missed Infinity and only got into the series recently, so I want to experience the comfiness of multiplayer games with buddies here
>>
>>200297872
It is planned to have 'expansive' multiplayer. Beyond that they haven't given specifics. It's the detail I most want to know about as well.
>>
>>200297934
Since it's a "real" game I hope they don't have fuel or anything, and just give you get credits at the end of each match that you can spend on better planes, just like in SP. Or just no leveling stuff and you can fly whatever plane you want.
>>
>>200298302
For posterity I should give you the exact wording. From an interview with Kono in January 2017:

"The multiplayer element is still in development and I definitely want to have a expansive experience. With that said, what I can say is at this point there is going to be a lot of customization and somehow integrate it into the multiplayer experience."

Whatever other details I can find are mostly speculative.
>>
Should I be worried about running AC7 if I had to turn down a few settings to keep 60 fps in the latest project wingman demo? Notably clouds and shadows...
>>
>>200299086

Keybindings in PPSSPP are extremely versatile, it's not particularly difficult to do outside the obvious lack of a second stick. And even that has a workaround.
You can even map the horrible Armored Core controls so that they're 1/1 the PS2 ones if you know what you're doing.
>>
>>200305498
The Su-43 is the reward plane, but lore released with Nier-related material says it was an F-15J iirc. There's a weapon called the F15 and it's said to have been named after the ancient weapon that shot down the dragon.

The one who pursued an EF-111.
>>
>>200332471
I don't know that story, what happened?
>>
>>200332726
Not him but I think he meant the story about an EF-111 pilot who used his wit to make his pursuer crash into the ground, which is awesome considering the latter flew a supposedly more maneuverable plane than that of the former.
>>
>>200332726
During the Gulf War, an EF-111 was jumped on by a Mirage F1, which managed to slip past the Raven's escorts. Both missiles fired by the Mirage missed, which forced it to close the distance to use the DEFA. It was night, and the unarmed jammer had only one advantage: a TFR system. Diving at high speed, the Raven set the autopilot to level at 30m above terrain with a high-G manoeuvre. The Mirage, having no such system, didn't see the ground until it was too late.
And that's how the F-111 got a kill while completely unarmed.
>>

I've never actually played an Ace Combat game. I've just been interested in jets in general and saw some Infinity videos. Then one day this general was on the main page,
so I checked it out, lurked a bit and found it to be really comfy. I watched playthroughs of all Ace Combat games to understand the memes and then decided to officially come here.
Been posting ever since.

prolly cause the tu-95 is a more popular plane due to its longer years of service.

man i gotta say, after binging through ace combat
4,5 and 0, i gotta say, without any nostolgia speaking here: Ace combat is a truly unique game. Part of it is the simple yet fun game play, part of it is the wacky unrealistic stories and super weapons flying alongside real life fighters, and part of it is the surprise feels that the games force upon you. But overall, i dont think ive ever played anything quite like it.

3 takes place after the rest, that would be the reason why the UPEO is not mentioned, it does not exist yet by the time of the other games.
As for aces, Mobius appears in the bonus mission Gauntlet as a boss and he's in AC5's arcade mode.
I imagine that strangereal creates so many aces and conflicts that there is little point in mentioning them in other wars that they have no bearing on.

The general answer though is that all of them are standalone. Only 5 and Zero are somewhat connected.
7 might see some references to Razgriz, Mobius or Yellow given the nations involved, but who knows.
>>
>>200399883
Because making reference to other stuff just for the sake of it doesn't make a game any better.

Thanks kindly, both of you! (Also, wow, lot of Flanker fans around here.) Kind of hoping the two anons who came out of the woodwork are going to draw theirs, because it's kind of surprising that there ISN'T an F-22 or an F/A-18 variant there.

>>200402528
Kei Nagase is a recurring name. She even shows up (albeit just as a quick cameo) in 3. however, IIRC, the Nagase in 04 is, in fact, the Nagase from 2 having left to go into civilian work.

The Kei Nagase in 5, however, is a different one entirely.

>>
>>200406981
The shots aren't exactly pinpoint accurate at long range, so they probably just give them the coordinates of where the enemy is and they calculate the angles they need.
>>
>>200408557
Personally, I feel the story's merely 'weak' even if they try harder than a 90s cartoon to work in a catchphrase. It's not THAT bad.

The game itself is a mixed bag. Missions are big, grandiose affairs, but there's less of them than in other AC games. The plane roster is comparatively miniscule too, but by and large they're all useful- even the RCL/RKTL is a kickass Sp.W in the game. And to its credit, it has two really, REALLY good superweapon battles.

Personally, I think it's pretty good even if it's not on 4's level of overall quality. Definitely worth playing if you have the console, but I wouldn't say it's worth getting the console for alone.

I wonder how effective ground based radars are at detecting space based stuff. I know PAVE PAWs, SBX, and NWS are all part of GBMD, so they have orbital tracking ability. Plus the NRO operates the Onyx SAR constellation which apparently doesn't have any trouble with the atmosphere due relatively stable doppler shifts.

On the other hand, Ulysses fragments would have been quite a bit further out when they started to engage them, no?

>yellow 4
a yandere su-37 that resents mobius-1. Is curious about the M.
>skyeye
bookworm awacs that keeps mobius 1 and company up to date.
>wardog 1
a red haired f-14 that arouses fear in sinfaxi chan.
>tanager
a strong and capable leader. Whenever she needs a plan to be checked for flaws she asks for mobius 1 and skyeye to find faults in it.
>solg
a very smart and strong girl. Finds it hard to apply herself as her is up in the clouds. Which means that when she does come back to earth its usually in a painful manner.

So, AC7 is going to be on PC via Steam, most likely.
So... are we gonna get ace combat badges and backgrounds and cards and all that bullshit?

Because if I can pin a Mobius 1 badge on my steam page and put an f-15 in the background, I might actually start giving a damn about Gabens Magical Card Wonderland
>>
>>200455767
The "Air Racing" text looks fitting, it's charmingly cartoony. I'd argue that "Turbo" needs thicker strokes in order to stand out.
The brown lines in the pylon make it look a bit blurry, I think making them a little darker or a fine outline would fix that.
>>
>>200456185
What do cards even do? I never bothered with those.
That said, I don't think AH had them so who knows if AC7 would have them.

>>200456639
Well I meant that it could probably be done a lot better because right now it looks inconsistent to me. I might have to go look for some actual fonts or something.
Cartoony is good since it would be an arcade racer.

And agreed on the other two, probably gonna go with the regular outlines inside the pillar too like with the planes and podium.
>>
>>200457116
I'm no typography expert, so I can't really comment regarding font consistency, but the picture still looks great.
>cards
Unregulated "black market", source of revenue for shovelware devs until Valve made some changes that require a certain amount of sold copies before a game can include a card component.
For users, they're used either to get some pocket change into the steam wallet or as collectibles to craft and upgrade game badges. Crafting badges gives you rewards within Steam: emojis, profile backgrounds, etc. And you can display it in the "featured badges" widget you might have on your profile.
>>
>>200457760
Thanks

>black market
Now I'm curious. How did that go down?
>>
>>200458315
It's not a black market per se, but plenty of users bought shovelware for cards in order to resell them to collectors or something. Shovelware with large amount of time-based drops at launch being the overall strategy.
The devs are able to set the cut they get off the price the cards are sold at, thus making more profits than they would by just selling the "games" since the cards would remain in circulation and get sold at a later date.
In order to prevent that, now Steam games (excluding maybe large publishers?) can't have trading cards enabled at launch, a certain amount of copies must be sold first.

Camo schemes aren't always necessarily about blending in. They can be used to obfuscate the distance and size of the aircraft/ship/vehicle that they are applied to.

Well there's always the part where you want to be visible for friendlies and the part where you want to have camo.

But I imagine the advent of radar and IFF kind of did away with making camo, in flight at least, the main objective. Especially if you also had stuff like the polished metal american fighters in WWII way before that.
WWI was right with their candy canes and rainbow liveries

fun ace facts:
did you know that the way Pixy counts using his hands is actually the German method of counting, using the thumb first over the fingers?
despite its being easily thrown off, the minute detail serves as an early foreshadowing of his Belkan heritage due to the links between Nazi Germany and 1995 Belka

Well shoot, they're right.
http://journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1177/0022022108326197

tl;dr it's more common in English-speaking countries to lead with the index finger as one and end with the thumb as 5.

>>200482065
PC here.
>>
>>200482617
There's a difference between counting and indicating. If I need to indicate s number 1-4 to someone in a noisy environment, index is 1 and thumb is 5. If I'm counting something, I lead off with my thumb.
>>
>>200481990
its a minor thing that only a few more people know about due to it being a critical element of a plot point in Inglorious Bastards as a British spy is discovered as he uses three fingers to order a beer rather than a thumb and two fingers
practically impossible to see if you werent looking for it
>>200482051
mostly english speaking countries, like the uk itself, australia and iirc south africa
i believe it was included in Ace Combat Zero as Japan use the 4 fingers, then a thumb rather than vice versa as if they were to catch it theyd notice itd be different
>>
>>200483114
Fair point, I hadn't considered that. I'm trying to parse out how I count with my fingers (Northeastern US for most of my life) but given both that my wife is German and that we're having this discussion in this thread I'm not going to get a clear sample.

>>
>>200483381
i know several people that use one of them or even methods, although i dont know where they were born or raised so i couldnt actually tell you the difference between cultures
i only know about this myself as a german foreign exchange student who stayed at a friends house who i played a few games of acz with and was a fan of the series indicated it to me
>>
>>200484000

I'd say 'maybe its a northern thing' but I went to uni up there and everyone went thumb first too.
How weird.
>>
>>200483178
I'm a french/spaniard and I also start with the thumb. Starting with the index is done in France and Britain, but it isn't exclusive to Germany by any stretch.
Due to people differing in the way they count, I'd argue that the plot point in that movie isn't all that sound, it's just a detail forced to serve the plot. Reminds me of another movie were a german spy is caught because he mashes his potatos instead of cutting them to bits. Those on the french side of my family have always mashed their potatos, so it feels absurd to catch a spy for that reason.
>>
>>200483178
Burger here. When I was little and counting to myself, I started with my index and ended at the thumb. Now I count starting with my thumb like a true ace.

As for the drawing it's good but I would still move either the line on the fuselage further up or angle the intake differently.
>>
>>200544759
>the line on the fuselage
I used it as a reference, to see if the wings were properly aligned. I'll erase it later.
>>
>>200547892
I mean the one halfing the nose to make it look stealthy. Maybe I can redline it later
>>
>>200548642
Ah, the radar housing? Now that I see it, you're right.
As for the intake, I want to follow Thunder's advice. Same angles and all. Then again, I might have drawn that wrong and I can't see it.

Anyone here fear that AC7's story will end in a cliffhanger?
>>
>>200551068
I don't think PA will ever do that. Half of the beauty of these games is that they're all mostly self-contained.
>>
>playing through Sky Crawlers
>photo recon mission, you're forced to fly a light bomber/recon plane
>after you take the photos you're ambushed and the mission turns into a "save them nuggets" mission
>you're forced to fly the equivalent in terms of speed and maneuverability of an A-10 or an F-117
God bless the TCM system. I don't have the skills to finish that mission without abusing the 4D maneuvering button.
>canyon run mission with timed bombing element
>some corners have wind that pushes you against the mountains
Project Aces outdid itself. God tier mission design.
>stonehenge-lite
>can fire at point blank
>has a fuckton AA guns around it
Unexpectedly difficult to deal with.

Is it even possible to shoot down Orishina during the 3rd part of the Sanka test flight? She takes an unreasonable amount of punishment. Then again, the referee has left by that point so it'd make sense if it wasn't possible.

Wait for the engineer transfer mission where they give you the same Uhu plane and remove the good MG for a single shot rifle tier one and add a ton of air currents

It was kind of fun to have some missions like that though. The wind was overblown in places though, but you know, arcade game.

>Sanka
I don't remember, perhaps not and it's just timed to spawn the enemies at some damage level

Can I also mention how I really like the theme that plays during that duel and the final mission. It's pretty good, even if it lacks something that I can't describe on the intermission.
>>
>>200553628
>another forced Senryu mission
I won't deny the gimmicks were fun, but I hope they don't overdo it. I would help if the Senryu wasn't such a hassle to maneuver. The Vice has similar stats but is so much more pleasing to fly for some reason.
>duel theme
Definitely one of the best tracks so far. It set the mood well. The one that follows it, not so much.
>>
>>200552181
>When morons think that flares are the plane burning

lmao
>>
>>200554101
I think those are the only two. The transfer is kinda neat simply because that's a mission type you don't see often that also makes sense. It also makes it an escort mission without the hassle because you are flying the escort. Too bad they give you a shit gun, the plane itself is ok from what I remember, not a fighter but good enough to hold itself in a 1v1 at least.

But you get some good dialogue out of it at least. Perhaps more if you manage to kill one or two of them.

>soundtrack
The problem with the SC soundtrack is that that duel theme and a few others like the briefing, Rally or Overture are pretty good, but a lot of it is forgettable. Tracks also repeat way too often.

I just wanted a good source of AC tier WWII music but I didn't get too much from it

>>

I believe the /aceg/ approved playstyle is "all three, eventually." Alternately, "whichever one has your favorite planes."

In that regard, planewise, you can get the F/A-18C by going Neutral, and you can get the EA-18G by picking the Jupiter Strike Team in mission 14, which is route-agnostic. the F/A-18E and F aren't in the game.

Su37 has the front canards, right? Likely that one. I know fuck all about actual plans.

On the Holy Trinity, do all planes have the same standard missile damage? Or a plane with high air-to-air stat will do more damage to an enemy plane than a plane with a lower air-to-air? Same thing for the air-to-ground stat.

Is Assault Horizon as bad as people say? I saw some gameplay and it looked very exciting and fun, but it has a bad reputation to say the least
>>
>>200586791
It's Ace Combat but with dogfighting that isn't fun.
>>
>>200586791
It has its merits, but none of them are what drew us in to Ace Combat in the first place. THOSE hallmarks are sorely lacking: It takes place in the real world, has a loudmouthed generic action hero protagonist, and basically locks you into close range railshooter mode as its big gimmick. Also your plane regenerates health.

It's an alright fly-the-plane-go-shooty-shooty game but a terrible Ace Combat game.

Delta wings are structurally efficient, can carry more internal fuel, due to high wing area can carry more ordnance and most importantly can be cheaper to build compared to other wing designs.

The tunnel run, specifically how to escape. I get to the dam, destroy the guntowers, go into the hole at the end and destroy the things but I always crash trying to get out
>>
>>200615880
There's openings at both ends, just fly out the end and do a turn in the air and go through it again from the other side, the tunnel's too narrow to try and turn inside it. It should take 3 runs through it to destroy everything, as long as you hit everything.
The only thing is that the doors on the tunnels slowly close so you need to watch out for that.

I don't think you have the sufficient mileage to judge them yet, and "worst" is a bold statement when you have only played two of them.
In what ways do you prefer 4? Just curious, 0 is an all around improvement imho.
>>
>>200629862
It was more a joke about being technical. So far I prefer 04 because as well as being the first I played, there was a sense of scale done very well from when you are just fighting random squads to eventually taking down Megalith
>>
>>200629862
That was clearly a joke based on the fact that they only have two to rate. Zero is both the second best and the worst in their opinion at this point just like 4 would be the best and second worst.

0 was amazing as well, can't beat jet fighter jousting with Spanish guitars

I see, my bad.
In my opinion, the flight model feels better in 0, the boresight is a godsend, the expanded plane selection is awesome, the ace squadrons are a great mechanic and the ace style gauge adds an interesting element to replays.
Also, no "reach x amount of points" missions. Those tended to drag on in 04.

So Pixy at the end came to realise borders are arbitrary as war is human nature, but at the same time we need them. However I got the impression that he is also trying to continue the work of AWWNB, doesn't this conflict directly with what he learnt?

He realised that borders existing isn't the problem, and that in order to create a peaceful world you need to do things to make people work together.

My borders for a padlock. Probably the only Kildren I didn't hate (together with the laid back guy) but now I might just hate her for being such a pain.
>>
>>200669285
ah sorry to bother you then, hopefully you post it when you can
>>
>>200672234
She has autism of the next degree tho with that whole I want to fight you thing. I wish you could've deflected with your old buddy after he breaks down instead of her swirching sides just to fight you.

Problem with the bossfights is that they really want you to use the maneuvers, which is fine because they are kinda fun to use and charge but it also means they spazz around a lot.

>>200670913
Wait with the thanks until I've actually done anything.

>>200672782
I'll probably update it tomorrow.

>defecting with Kaida
That "shoot down the traitor" moment gave me some pause and I actually thought for a moment that you could choose sides a la AC3. Her defection, though foreshadowed (giving you her Seiei after the mission after which she's implied to have left is brilliant), was a bit of a bummer. She was more Pixy than Sprite.
It even fits: you're to shoot down a traitor, an emotion-drivencharacter, with the resident flying autist being ready to follow the order.
>Orishina can do the attached maneuver
I'm going to need advice beyond using the Modified Guns II. The Sanka seems to be the only thing that can keep up with her, her Seiei does too but isn't as nimble for all the irony it would have.
>>
>>200675496
No, get the Skyly for maximum movie mode.
Also use the flak/HE cannon to take potshots occasionally since that one does AoE damage.
I don't remember having much trouble except on the last or second to last segment because my health was down. But it checkpoints after each phase IIRC

And that webm is great everytime I see it.

>betrayal
To me it would've just worked out perfectly if you went against them. Given who the Teacher flies for in the movie and given his apparent hate for Kildren.

The Skyly is unlocked after completing the mission. I'll check what aircraft have access to the flak gun tomorrow. It's the last segment that is giving me trouble. I can barely get her in my sights.
>webm
I have the feeling I mislabeled the aircraft, though.
>Teacher
I think that after having shot down most of the Kildren himself he started blaming them for his losses (for good reasons or otherwise). Seeing them come back probably exacerbated his issues or was a very distressing experience at the very least. I'm starting to hate Kildren because due to the way they are I have to kill the one I was fond of, so maybe I'm just projecting. Or PA crafted a masterful mind-game to make you feel the character.

I have to wonder if the author was familiar with Ace Combat or it was just IG making nods at their work in AC3.
>>
>>200677476
>The Skyly is unlocked after completing the mission.
Nevermind I was probably in the 190 knockoff then. The first plane you get.

>Kildren
I really just didn't like that they ended up replacing the other buddies and how Oroshima was a shithead about it. Nevermind that it forced me to go after Kaida after they send you on that suicide mission.
I took that as a reason. It's also fucking creepy to just have them show up again and again.

>names
Can't see on my phone but the planes are a Fokker Dr.1 and what I assume to be Sopwith Camels, but there's no good look at their models and they are missing a wing cutout so perhaps they are something else.
>>
>>200678360
>Fw 190 knockoff
The Suiga? I'll try that one.
>Kildren
To me it was just that most of them were clearly neurotic or otherwise unsteady. Not exactly trustworthy for those reasons. Hating Ukumori in particular I understand, but I think that to hate Kildren in general he must have gone down a slippery slope and made some irrational judgement along the lines of "everything wrong with the world/my life is the Kildren's fault" that seemed sound to him.
Rostok could have rotated out their human pilots in a less hamfisted manner, though.
Did Lautern also get hold of Kildren technology by the time the movie took place? Maybe the Teacher took one with him out of spite or something.
>>
There are writebuddies in the thread, right?
How can go one beyond "pilot A could tell his foe was the enemy ace by the way he flew" and detail what makes that ace or enemy pilot's flying special?
>>
>>200681503

Maybe a 'signature' move he does - maybe one that his plane really isnt good at but he can somehow do anyway through just being that good at minute control of his bird.

like maybe he somehow bullshits a cobra in a plane that shouldnt be able to do it.

>>
>>200682406
That does work. Everyone is none the wiser due to the aircraft not being the usual one and the tell happens and everyone freaks out.
>>
>>200682406
>>
>>200683346
That would be pretty sick, but I can't imagine how much momentum would need to be built up for a fighter to actually do that. Definitely not doable by a prop unless it's in free fall.
>>
>>200683557
Also incase you havent seen yukikaze
The plane is actually flying in reverse
>>
>>200681503
"My vision went dark, again and again, my brain screaming for blood, as I did my best to keep breathing and not lose control entirely. But everytime, just before my world went dark for the sweetest of milliseconds I saw him. Our aircraft locked in flat scissors, sharp as a knife's edge. I didn't need to see his plane, his roundel, his killmarks. I felt it in the way he was flying, the way he took turns and shook my aircraft after each pass, ever closer to the last one. He was the one. He was the enemy. And today, I would kill him.
>>
>>200685291
Actually I read the novels. I was just thinking about how one could make that happen with a more conventional aircraft.
>>200685840
I better git gud at writing to meet the bar.
>>
>>200686103
You wanna know the trick?
Adjectives
>>
>>200686709
My prose veers towards the beige, adverbs and adjectives are indeed lacking. I'll have to brush up before trying to give a second wind to the "/aceg/ writes short stories" idea that was thrown around a while ago.
>>
>>200685840
There he was! A portal opened in the sky, straight to the Stealthdimesion. Of course I couldn't see the plane, who could, but a stealthdimensional demon had decided it's new resting place was on his aircraft. I couldn't see the aircraft, but that demon made for a good target.
>>
How the fuck are you supposed to help all of the fuckers in liberation of gracemeria

>aceg writes short stories idea

>>
>>200687056
Your not
>>
>>200686965
Kek.
It would be the final mission for me. The war would be over, we could have peace again. Standing in between me and that was only a squadron of fighters unlike any I had ever seen before. And they were coming right for me! They broke formation, with their lead going after me. We were head on, but just before I could fire, I saw the enemy plane pull a maneuver I wouldn't have thought possible. His aircraft went straight up, turned and engaged in a maneuver that put him two seconds in the past. "What?! Four dimensional maneuvering?" I thought, there could only be one capable of this and as soon as I figured it out, I already heard a hate-filled scream in my cockpit: "ANTAREEEEEEEEEEEEEEESS!"
>>
>>200686965
Let's give it a try. English is not my first language, so results might vary
>The portal, that eerie gash through which the sky itself appeared to crumble, slowly swallowed the fighter. Was the gaping mouth ensnaring it with unholy tendrils or was it the fighter that reached inside of it with it's ribbons of sinister writing? Either way, my target appeared unable to change it's course as it was dragged beyond our mortal realm. I whispered "Guns" thrice, as if it was some holy name that would grant me protection by such a litany, and squeezed the trigger
>tfw no english analog for "tétrico"

>>200687056
You only need to help 3 or 4 of them iirc.
>>
>>200688173
Ayy, that's pretty good!
And thrice may be a little old-fashioned, but works here, considering all the magic and stuff that happens.
>>
>>200688446
Chanting the Queen's name three times for protection against evil is a medieval (french at least) spell of sorts. The more old-fashioned the better in that context.
>>
>>200688173
Oh and tetrico is probably close to dismal in meaning, so you could use that ;)
>>
>>200688647
>dismal
It's also often used to translate "dark", as in "Dark Archon" -> "Arconte Tétrico". It still belongs to the "gloomy, sinister" semantic field.
The only example of "dismal" that comes to mind (I usually read in spanish or french) is The Eye of Argon, so I might have an unconcious bias against it.
>>
>>200686914
I'd definitely be up for some collective writefagging! Usually people are more inclined to writing than drawing, so we might get even more participants than the montage :D
>>
>>200688173

I heard quiet murmurings over the radio as other members of my squadron offered up their own prayers to the gods of the sky. The fear was obvious in all their voices, especially the nugget. This was his first time seeing a crossing. Everyone heard about it of course - fervent whispers in pilot bars and mess halls, the horror stories from the older more experienced ones.
You never really quite acclimatised to the sight of a warding sigil etched with a penknife into the metals of the cockpit, the bundles of sage the ground crew would toss into the jet nozzles so they'd be incinerated on takeoff.
Who even know which would protect you from the monsters from the stealthdimension?

I shuddered, glancing down at the white pentagram and circle painting in the footwell below me, and lifted my hand from the throttle for a moment to rest my fingers above the pendant which hung below my flightsuit.
I know that enemy pilot must have had his own protections, his own trinkets and symbols.
So why hadn't his worked, when mine did? Did I just get lucky?

It didnt bear thinking about.
>>
>>200689113
Dang this is giving me some excellent vibes

So I joined this thread yesterday. Posted some figs, drew a little cartoon flanker.

I was asked to post my planefu.

I just hastily said flankers because they look read and it was what I could remember.

Replaying some of the muddle missions of AC4 yesterday I began to wonder if that was right, my old save files showed I had unlocked tons.

It's slow at work and I've been researching jets and AC for hours.

You guys didn't prepare me for how existential this choice is. I'm going crazy with my plane identity crisis right now.

>>200689076

>>
>>200689857
It's ok anon, you just need to go unlock every single plane in AC5 and then you can choose which is your planefu.
>>
>>200689857

Choosing a planefu is hard!
Especially for people who truly love plen.

Here's an odd question. Let's say you end a game of AC:Z at the very end of one Ace style- let's say the far end of Knight. Is it possible to get from the far end of Knight to the near end of Mercenary (or vice-versa) in time for Mission three?
>>

Nope. Not enough yellow targets. You could if you were in the middle of soldier, though.
