I love Minthara from Baldur's Gate 3.I didn't know she was a companion in my first playthrough, so like 70% of other players according Larian's statistics, I killed her in act 1 and never even knew what I had done. It was days or even weeks before the community made it common knowledge that you could even recruit her. Needless to say, I rushed to play a second playthrough where I recruited her, and I've been in love ever since.One of the best waifus being hidden behind an unintuitive recruitment method, or in this case even the game's evil path, is pretty unique. I'm normally a very completionist player in these games, and even I didn't know about her at first.She has some of the funniest jokes in the game, she's a very strong class, she has one of the better unique companion abilities, she has a compelling story about seeking revenge on Orin, and her romance is super cute where she admits she has mad to murder all of her past partners and so you are special because you are outside Menzoberranzan house politics so she can finally for the first time in her life actually just love someone without murdering them. It's very cute!I love this game, I love this character, and I love this developer. I am anticipating their next masterpiece! In the meantime, we get to enjoy Rogue Trader dlc 3, Dark Heresy, the Expanse, Solasta2, and many other good games. It's a great time to be a crpg enjoyer!

>>569950973Specialization matters mostly because of the lost spells of your opposing school. This is mainly a problem if you're the only mage in the party and missing some key buffs/debuffs. Conjurer is often considered the "best" specialization since no spell in Divnintion is all that important. But you dont get as much benefit from the casting bonus to conjuration spells. Mainly you're in it for the extra spell slot at that point. Illusionist loses out on Necromancy which has some key spells so its not usually recommended. It's fine on a secondary mage or fighter/mage(Gnome) though. Necromancy loses Illusion, which has lots of powerful defensive spells. The upside is that the best damage spell in the game is Necromancy (Abi-Dalzim's Horrid Wilting), Skull Trap is also great. As for Enchanter they are great in BG1 (So Xan is a good companion) but lose a lot of luster in BG2 since their high level spells are on the weak side, Losing Evocation isn't fatal (Necromancy has the best damage spells) and you have other CC options than Web, but not getting sequencers or contingency in BG2 is kinda sad. As those are some of the most fun and unique parts of being a mage in BG2. Honestly for a new player I'd probably suggest playing a normal mage. That way you know you can always learn whatever spell you might need. Sure the extra spell is good, and if you know what you're doing a Specialist will be a bit stronger, but generalist lets you learn without worrying your character is missing some important spell.

I don't think it needs rebalancing, so much as a non-combat save point between this and the corridor fight, so you can easily change your party when you inevitably reload. Saro was key to nuking everyone, even though he fell at the last minute. The Valkyrie itself seems to have fucked off after the Commissar fell to Saro's flamesRa'akhti's bird also saved my ass by bringing everyone small bits of flesh to eat, improving defense and offense.
