These guys crawl onto my bed occasionally, and I have to carefully find and catch them so I don't accidentally squish them. They're usually a bit thirsty, so I give them some water in a bottle-cap afterwards.

Those are some bad ass spiders, man. I hope they catch as many as possible.

They're not very big, but when the stingfags get caught in the Webb, there's not much they can do to get away.

I once saw a house spider build its web directly below a paper wasp nest. I figured it was done for, since I've seen paper wasps take out plenty of orb weavers, but the house spider ended up killing all of the wasps over the course of the next few days. They're small and fragile-looking, but there's a reason that they're such a common and widespread species: they are very capable predators.

I always was fond of spiders and holding them since I was a kid, so I can't understand why everyone's freaked out by them

then again I'm very fond of wasps too

I can't take sides, I wish they'd get along
>>
>>65815

If spiders were the size of cats there would be no people. Spiders are incredible. They are born with incredible skills. Like, they spin 7 different kinds of web. One time I had a big orb weaver spider living outside my house, and one time I threw a bunch of leaves from my rain gutter into his web, accidentally. Then I watched with fascination as he got the leaves out by cutting his web in just the right way so they'd fall free. I'm not sure a person could have figured that out. He ate the web before he went to sleep and spun a new one in the morning. Amazing. They're born knowing exactly how to make a living, I wish I had been.

If spiders were the size of cats their brain power would exceed our own. Using their webs and pedipalps they would outpace us in technology and by the time we built the pyramids they would have an Eiffel Tower in Spidopolis, only made of webs and full of hornets. By the time of what would be the Roman Empire in our world they would've built a space elevator and escaped this planet, their civilization ascending to heights we could only dream of.

Did you know an Italian university research group got the bright idea of putting in the drinking water of carbon nano tubes and grapheme and it increased the strength of their webs. It's only a proof of concept but the fibers are stronger than kevlar and could be the next super material.

Post proofs

How will this bring us closer to spider waifus?
>>
>>67996
Here's the abstract: http://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/2053-1583/aa7cd3/meta
and here's a related tech article: https://www.nextbigfuture.com/2017/08/spiders-exposed-to-water-with-graphene-make-triple-strength-spider-silk.html
>>
>>67996
You might not like the consequences for your spider waifu as the small amounts of material means scaling up the production to include many more spiders lock in cages producing silk. Think gulag for spiders.

Spiders scare me how do I stop being scared by tiny arachnids
I have this absurd fear they're gonna bite me, which is arguably a decent possibility
but I mean like it's not like they're outright dangerous so being scared of them is silly
But they still spook the FUCK out of me
