Does anyone know what all this means? Why are there two values and what's with the archipelago distinction?

I've been spending all my pieces of eight to get dubloons, to get badges. So I have a bunch of badges I can trade. Officer, Sea Monster, Parlor games etc.

If we complete a voyage while the captain of the ship is offline, when is the booty split and delivered? Is it something the captain will have to do later, or is it something anyone with an officer badge can do?
>>
>>2483732
Thats something I forgot to do yesterday, split the booty at the end.
>>

>>
>>2483732

When a ship ports, any player ranked officer or above in the crew can divide (or "divvy") the booty by selecting the appropriate option. He or she will then view a screen with a default booty divide according to the crew's booty shares. The officer can then adjust the booty shares when appropriate (for example, players who left during battle can be given -1 to reduce their share of the booty). Once the division has been approved by the officer, it is submitted for approval by the rest of the pirates on board the ship. A notification is sent to the players, who can vote by clicking on "Vote on booty". They may then vote "yea" or "nay" and a majority is needed to enact the decision.

If a ship is at sea when the server reboots, it is whisked back to its last port of call, and the booty is divided according to the crew booty shares.

If all pirates abandon a ship at sea long enough for it to be auto-ported (15 minutes), all commodities and PoE in the booty are dumped into the sea and lost.

After a ship ports, if the booty remains undivided for more than thirty minutes, it is automatically divided according to the crew booty shares.

What does it mean when the captain starts saying a bunch of numbers while he's in battle nav?
>>

Also when they say "Welcome, feel free to just chill but don't S/L" I assume they mean you dont have to do puzzles but dont just stand and AFK?
>>
>>2483924
the numbers is the list of cannon shots traded/hit, each ship has a certain max amount of shots it can take before it becomes redundant tokeep shooting them. It's why in some boarding engagements you have the gray boxes in bottom of sf screen and top of rumble screen.

It's not that you're not making progress, it's that the scoring rate is so inflated that you're not performing as well as people who have been playing for 20 years. I find it hard to get a good score on bilging even if you're doing well, but sailing seems pretty fair, if you do well, you get a good score.

I could also suck at bilging though, desu.

>>
>>2488309

>>
i don't really feel like there's anything to work towards. we already have ships and if it's money you want, you make infinitely more just joining big public SL pillages
and the puzzles are not really fun
>>
>>2488505
I think this would have worked better as people suggested in the thread, as a thing we do every mini game night, rather than a two week thing. Its not really a lock in for two weeks game, its a drop in, drop out game. You log in, get hooked on the gameplay loop for two or so hours, then you're satisfied/get burned out, then you log out.

Its not a bad game at all, in fact it succeeds in what it's trrying to do, and what its trying to do is be a more casual, socially focused game. Which I think would work better for mini game night.
>>
>>
>>2488505
You keep saying this and yet we haven't fucking done anything. I was able to join one small pillage with 2-3 of you guys for about 30 minutes. We haven't done any of the big content, half the posts in the thread are people complaining that they suck at puzzles, you're all dressed like hobos, you live in shacks, you aren't ranked with the navy, you aren't ranked in any of the puzzles, you aren't officers, you don't own your own boats, you don't run your own businesses (half the game's fucking puzzles are crafting btw), you have no achievements of notes, you have nothing. In other games, some of you can spend 40 hours grinding to get your arbitrary level up to 100 and unlock no new content or rewards. In this game you quit before you're even able to afford new fucking pants.
>>
>>2488769
none of that sounds fun or achievable in two weeks. Gee whiz i have an epic coat that will degrade in 30 days damn that's fucking epic
>>
>>2488779
An epic coat that provides no stats, nothing. Just for looksmaxxing and is flavor more than necessity. Only real things that matter are swords and fist weapons for rumble but that's really for pvp. Drinking mug is completely optional for that mini game if any decide to dabble in it. Content wise: unless you can spend more than a few months in the game straight up grinding the only end game available after two weeks is cursed isle or seamonster hunt runs and possibly NPC flotilla raids but the real end game is war dec and blockading an island and achieving that in a two weeks without dropping half a grand irl dosh is nearly impossible unless one of you manage to get really lucky. Definitely better as a game night event than playing long term for two weeks straight. There isn't really a dedicated story line behind the game.
>>
>>2488779
It literally is fun to do puzzles with you idiots. But not if you give up three days in before you get any fucking good at the puzzles.

>but you can just tag along on other players' pillages! you dont need us!
The point is to do it with /mmod/. If I'm not going to play with you guys, I might as well just go play whatever MMO I want.

God, it's no wonder video games all have you on a massive treadmill with RPG mechanics. You guys are hardcore MMO gamers and you can't handle one slightly more open game with no levels or main storyline to grind through.
>>
>>2488824
Like look at this fucking guy. He sounds exactly like every one of the other MMO regulars we've met. "Oh my MMO takes WAY more skill and time investment than yours. You'll NEVER get to endgame, you might as well just play during game nights."

Every fucking game we play there's one of these guys and every game our dedicated autists prove them wrong by getting to the level cap and doing the endgame and getting the gear. But this game you guys are giving up because you aren't willing to get good at fucking Puyo Puyo.
>>
I wont lie Im kind of done with puzzle pirates frens too. theres not really much to do or work towards in the game besides earning more gold but we already have ships and shit unless someone sets up a goal for us to work towards. game would have been better if clothing had stats and those stats better improved the rate at how good you preformed at puzzles instead of it being entirely skill based. I cant be bothered to learn S tier puzzle strats when the game will be dropped in another week anyway once the 2 week anniversary game is decided
>>2488878
does this game actually have endgame? all of it consists so far is getting better at puzzles and earning more gold which as that anon put is useless because clothing is only for looks
>>
It's been bad timing for me this week but starting Friday evening ill grind hard. I will tetris effect myself.

>>
>>2488505
>>2488687
>>2488769
I think looking back, as nice as it was, we probably shouldn't have accepted the free boats as we have a lot now. It would have been more fun to work towards getting it on week one by going on public voyages and learning the ropes, then doing our own voyages week two. Because I also feel the first two days were chaotic with nobody knowing how to navigate etc.
>>
>>2489008
I've been grinding for dubloons which has turned out to be really easy. When I saw there was an game cash for cash shop currency exchange I was expecting a horrific grind because it usually was. Like on Wakfu for example, the exchange rate on there was insane it was like one million to one. But the grind for dubloons isnt that bad. Around 3500 for one. Thats around a an hour voyage on a strong ship. Then you'll usually get three trinkets out of that, so you exchange those at the trade post for 8000 pieces of eight. So thats around 11,000 in an hour. That'll give you three dubloons. The Parlor badge is only four dubloons. So I've been buying the content unlock badges and giving them away.

THE CLOTHES DECAY TOO???
i thought it was acceptable for weapons since a doubloon is similar to how much you had to pay for energy in the other grey havens game we played, but why are the skins on a decay timer?

the more i look at this game the more it looks like a treadmill to nowhere. i fought the vampires so far and the only difference with them is their loot and a more annoying sprinkle in a swordfight
>>
File: bnav.png (3 KB, 179x66)

you retards should hunt the kraken or go to the cursed isles or open a shoppe or do a vampire lair or something, you're just all standing on the dock doing nothing then complaining there's nothing to do
>>
>>2489007
Basically from what I'm gathering from doing the public voyages is that the brigands and barbarians drop "charts" if you go to the navigation wheel and select chart a voyage or whatever, you get to see your known map and the ocean map is HUGE. When I looked at it, I have a bunch of islands unlocked but I was nothing more than a tiny dot that I had to zoom in on.

So you gotta collect these charts which unlock more places to voyage to, and sometimes they drop charts to dungeons and special places. The named Brigands and Vampire ships also drop the charts to special areas more. Then you go to these special places and you basically run a puzzle dungeon or reap the rewards depending what it is. Like I have a chart to some Atlantis settlement unlocked. But from what I know thats basically the endgame place its on the other side of the ocean.

But yeah I agree, as nice of a gesture as it was for anons to buy us ships so we could do our own voyage, it would have probably been better to work towards that. Because in a way, thats kind of like power levelling which I believe isnt allowed in /mmod/ everyone has to start at level 1 even if they already play that game. We've essentially been given "high level" stuff in a way.
>>
>>2489081
but what is the purpose if the only goal is to loot more money? the puzzles become annoying and repetitive after just a few hours. does the kraken puzzle differ from any of the others or is it like the vampire puzzle which is just reskinned swordfigthing
>>
>>2489016
Most MMOs are grinds for worthless shit
>>
puzzle pirates is lacking the number go up mechanic that makes most mmos fun to grind
there is no number to make go up and im not 45 years old so sitting around in a virtual parlor playing poker with a super epic gold trimmed degradable coat isn't doing it for me, and honestly puzzle pirates anon is so high and mighty and acting like the biggest faggot ever
>>
>>2489111
You are not wrong but the grinds in other mmos make your character do more damage or anything, theres nothing like that in puzzle pirates. better clothing doesnt do anything but change your looks and all of it deteriorates. I just cant be bothered this is like one of those facebook social mmos you would play in 2010 but hardly anything special for /mmod/ especially for 2 weeks. I mean realistically how many of us are already burnt out from doing the same puzzles over and over and over again only after 3 days, what about another 4 days? then we have a whole other week left to go after that doing the same shit
>>
>>2489128
and unlike some younger anons I cant be bothered to get "good" at a game we're all going to drop once the 2 weeks over anyways. if that is the purpose of playing this id rather go play some esports game in the meantime to get good at a game that actually matters, sorry
>>
I like battle nav quite a bit, but that's about it and I get burnt out after 3 or so battles
>>
>>2489125
and most of the best players with all the best gear anyways run bots nobody who has that much shit I seriously have doubts is playing this game legitimately
>>
>>2489128
Like I said in the /mmod/ thread and told you all, this would have been suited for mini game night where we all visit it like once a month to do a half an hour voyage, rather than a 2 week thing.
>>
>>2489137
But that can be said of any /mmod/ game though. We're all dropping them in 2 weeks.
>>
>>2489111
Your contempt for the genre is no reason to be a sewage merchant yourself, anon. Why don't you say things you can look someone in the eye with?
>>
>>2489189
Same. I quite like the game and going on big voyages but I can't play for more than 2 hours unlike other mmod games. Its more that I keep wanting to go back to it, it has an addictive nature, but once I get my "fix" I'm done for the day. Just an hour of gameplay burns me out and it starts getting old, until the next day where I'm up for playing again.

I think its the same for a lot of anons since we do seem to still be having a lot of people coming on but only for an hour or two at a time.

This is a game designed for short bursts.
>>
>>2488878
Completely misinterpreting what I said and forming it to your own perceived take. I never said it takes way more skill. It definitely takes more time investment than most of the other games /mmod/ has played. If you take a step back away to view the game for what it is some of the content is locked behind having several million poe on hand. Not saying to not play but assuming you're >>2488769
>big content
the biggest content a smallish new group could get into in two weeks was as stated previously: seamonster hunting, cursed isles, war brig/frig pillage, and flotilla attacks which are fun in their own right but requires at least 3-4 hours of dedicated time to be worth it
>dressed like hobos
some of the best ranked players in this game are dressed like hobos
>live in shacks
The housing in this game contributes to nothing but vanity status
>aren't ranked with the navy
you just get some colored clothing in a scheme to that of the navy you jobbed with and in the end like 4-5k poe in total for time put in
>ranked in any of the puzzles
the rankings reset on a nightly basis, learn the puzzles, achieve ultimate and possibly rank in two weeks this is actually possible
>aren't officers
officer status doesn't matter much unless running a long term crew with a proper hierarchy
>own your own boats
at a certain point this is also just vanity as there isn't enough players in the ocean to fill 10 pillages at once unless it's all sloops and you only need one boat to pillage with a smallish group
>don't run your own business
most businesses are ran by players using alts to provide labor and unless you want to play more than two weeks it takes a lot more than just getting a stall, stalls require taxes and resource input (stuff doesn't magically appear out of thin air)
>>2489022
Zero to hero crew would've been the way to go and collectively acquiring funds for a sloop>war brig>war frig? and attempting various events with them as a group would've been interesting.
>>
>>2489272
>Zero to hero crew would've been the way to go and collectively acquiring funds for a sloop>war brig>war frig? and attempting various events with them as a group would've been interesting.

I think that was the way to go. Not trying to be unappreciative for all the boat gifts it just was against the spirit of the project in terms of starting from scratch. I know we all wanted our own ship to do journeys with anons but it turns out we suck and are mostly doing public voyages anyways. Again it was like power levelling. So we kinda started at the top rather than work our way up, learn the puzzles with veterans navigating and stuff, get the boat, then end the two weeks on a big voyage.
>>
An under rated part of the game is island exploring, especially since they're player owned. I like going on a voyage and just being dropped off wherever it's ported, then exploring. Some stuffs been there since like 2006.
>>
>>2489314
A big part of the appeal of the game as a kid was the transition from jobbing to being part of an actual crew and getting a larger split of the booty. It's sort of baked into the system that you're supposed to make shit wages jobbing and only really make money when you get your own ship and crew together. But jobbers are treated really well right now by most crews and we got the ships from the start so there was never that feeling of aocial elevation.

I wanted to warn people but it's always awkward when longtime players of these games offer to essentially skip parts of the game for us.
>>
I hated bilging at first now its the one im best at. tetris I thought I would love but the sword mechanic cutting through is so fucking dumb even when Im playing slow and checking my dots I get swords cutting through my board. swordfighting is ASS and entirely rng based bullshit
>>
>>2489324
Yeah there seems to be a lot of enthusiastic long time players of the game, I mean a lot of people were pushing it in the mmod thread for months after all, and that enthusiasm is great but we did skip the beginning essentially. So the first two days felt like bumbling on our ship and getting our asses whooped a lot. So its like we busted our nut early with our own voyages from hour one.

>>2489324
You guys aren't being super fair to the boat guy. It's the kind of game where new players often join established crews and participate in big voyages right from the get-go. You're supposed to be able to skip a certain amount of progression, just like a lot of sandbox games let you do. The game isn't designed to end in one week once you graduate from jobbing to owning your own sloop. There is still content after that.
>>
im just going afk on a big ship and playing hellgate on the side. might as well
>>
>>2489430
Sometimes you just need to stall. This goes for swordfighting, too. If you have more than a bot or two on you just chill and let the auto timer play it out.
>>2489447
I think the assessment is more than fair when anon decided to be a dick over some of the anons assessing whether this game would be better as a game night ordeal than a two week stint.
That being said, I'm still going to play for the two weeks for nostalgia factor.
What color pallet are we going for clothes wise? Should we do a theme or all just do whichever color combo we like and take a big screenshot at the end?
>>
>>2489272
The two problems with zero to hero on puzzle pirates is that you need to grind out experience to be able to make a crew and own a ship. The experience is something like 10-15 hours of playtime and earning a sloop would mean playing with other players on public voyages anyway, so it ends up being the same thing. If we didn't have a crew, it would be impossible to communicate because there's no group chats or parties.

Not to mention the problem with if we only had a sloop, the first 7 people to show up get to play and the rest don't, which makes a difference on day 1 when the most people are trying out the game.

If the public voyages weren't filled with 50 bots that did everything or if we made a lot more money running our own voyages, that would be way cooler though.
>>
>>2489599
I wasn't here for day one so I don't know how many anons were on at the start but these boats in pic could function more than enough for a reasonable amount of frens to sail on.
>>
what a lovely and pleasant surprise to see you all play a game i have played for over 15 years. this is a very fun game if you know what you are doing. sadly i cannot participate myself at this time, but i wish you all a wonderful gaming experience. by the way personally i enjoyed hunting skeleton/zombie/werewolf hordes on special dark weathered islands which you will see and are very rewarding. teleportation bottles are cheaply available from apocatharies. there is also tons of cheap old clothing from tailors you can buy from used clothing racks. gamba is done at banks and trading outposts which can also give rare injuries like eyepatches hookhands peglegs and even rare familiars like skelly parrots

blockades and sea monster hunts (atlantis and cursed islands), and the new vampire lairs, are also top tier content. but to be honest most big money is just poker, this is actually a very fittingly gamba focused game. play tournaments as well to learn puzzles. remember for swordfighting to stack breakers after making fast 2x2 blocks, do this enough and you can instakill your enemies with one big mega sword. rumble is similar concept, make stacks of charged balls but pad it first before popping. Boothook has a great guide

Sailing puzzle is the best. very simple. stack and drop big combos for a golden sail and just chill until the sail dies down. it is a slow and steady puzzle not a frantic arcade game like say, treasure haul or foraging, fun, but you have to be a bit faster paced in those. well foraging rewards more on efficiency but still

watch out for monkey boats if having high fruit or have no rum those are fun. oh yes graveyard seas are also fun. ah the memories. this game is so precious. there is nothing else like it. days and nights where entire island chains at war all player owned. anyways you guys should pool together funds to make a habbo hotel crew hall. take group portraits.

fair seas to ye from an old salt
>>
>>2489447
Yeah tbf to boat guy we didnt know how many would initially play, sometimes only 20 people show up sometimes more than 40 like in iris online case and nobody really wants to play alone for the most part
>>2489566
the stalling is the worst part because every puzzle up till that point rewards speed and efficency but not when it comes to fighting its like
>dont do too good or you will get fucked
its super lame imo because if i could go all out on tetris those npc nerds would never beat me
>>
>>2489447

Btw for picture night, shall we all pitch in for a group portrait?
>>
>>2489634
There was quite a few at the start, as is usually the case on a day one. We got gifted a small boat and a big boat, so the big was used day one and the smaller one has been used most of the time though sometimes we use a medium one.
>>
>>2489682
i keep forgetting as well since it still kinda new to me but there are these extra golden pillage (basically a raid of sorts) called Greedys where you get trinket items to redeem or sell to other players. very profitable and easy money for entry. might be up your alley

lastly a lot of players afk in the port docks of Admiral Island. some of the most experienced, powerful people hang out there. that is the social place. and the Inn at Admiral's too.
>>
>Not to mention the problem with if we only had a sloop, the first 7 people to show up get to play and the rest don't, which makes a difference on day 1 when the most people are trying out the game.

The biggest painting is 7 pirates unfortunately. It also costs 105k and 140 dubloons so pretty expensive. The paintings are definitely cool but I have no idea how we'd pick and choose who got to be in it even if people pooled their money together for it.

Holy fuck I can't believe how bullshit swordfighting is. Literal cock & ball torture. I'm only brawling or afk'ing. Fuck this shit.
>>
>>2490445
i learned to never hit space so you wont ever get targeted by the enemies. its slow but better than swords going through your screen (and yes its complete bullshit)
>>
>>2490445
>>2490466
swordfighting is NOT a direct tetris clone in this game. it's not a race to clear your screen, but is a tug and pull where if you make a 2x2 block, you can use a "breaker" which is the colored sword symbols to "pop" them

idea is that each block is equivalent to a sword to the opponent's board. so a 2x2 vertical block is a small sword. combos multiply the size of the sword, so if you do a double, triple, bingo, vegas for example on a 2x2, it can be a massive instakill sword for someone

use space (drops em fast) strategically. there's going to be little dots next to your icon that shows if you are being "teamed", and btw you should be "teaming" against the enemy too, that way everyone's sword is concentrated on the same person and they die faster

each sword btw has a "pattern" which is how the color of the silver sword translates to colored blocks, so a "stick" sword for example is the shittiest since it's just the same color for the other guy, giving them fuel rather than a complex sword like a falchion (meta sword) that is varied

if you guys are still up i can teach you all a bit and spar. SF is super satisfying once you get the hang of it, you guys got this

seriously if someone can consistently make the basic 2x2 block and combo on top of it, you are already 90% better than most SFers who foolishly try to do otherwise
>>
>>2490711
Yeah, I understand how the game works. It doesn't make it any less cock & ball torture bullshit.
>>
>>2490718
my bad, i'm sorry. just reread your post and you said

that pic is more an illustration. in reality, pic related is more practical, a quick 2x2, juiced up, and then amped with combos. think of dynamite and the explosion trigger rope. note how to the "trigger" is the green block, which sets off the blue block, then yellow, then red, then yellow again. pic related translated would look like something on the other pic, especially if other sword strikes are done in rapid succession
>>
>>2491078
Does it make sense to build stuff like this in PvE too? Seems too complicated when you can get fucked by 3 enemies at any moment. I usually struggle with breaking even just one 2x2 block .
>>
File: image.jpg (242 KB, 798x770)
242 KB JPG
>>2491108
it depends. if you are teamed on, better to stall and play defensive. if you are not being teamed on, you are ideally supposed to do the teaming yourself and build combos to kill enemies

>I usually struggle with breaking even just one 2x2 block .

and that's perfectly okay and normal. if you are starting out, i would focus on just getting the mechanics down, and being ablle to consistently create 2x2's by rotating and manipulating blocks (remember you can use the keyboard to rotate them and space to speed up). if you can create 2x2s, you can then create cascading breaker blocks to "pop" them. that is a combo. that is the core and fundamental of "striking" in swordfight

if you are stil not sure we can spar in-game i am going to try and be online as much as i can since you guys have such little time and i want you all to experience the real good shit content like the kraken, voodoo witch doctor island, vampire castle lairs, zombies, ghosts, skeletons, like there's so much more to the game than just tutorial grind which are basics

think about it this way, this game has so much to offer, it is like planning a trip to New York City but stopping at the airport and telling people you have "seen" NYC i mean it is like nothing, i want to at least show you guys the statue of liberty which is totally doable in a week with careful guidance
>>
>>2491177

I got my own ship. From what I understand, you have to carry some resources in its coffers while you sail, such as cannonballs and rum. What would be a healthy amount of these?
>>
File: fun.jpg (56 KB, 333x446)
56 KB JPG
>>2491328
it depends on your ship, how often you intend to shoot cannonballs during a battle, and how long the pillage is. big ship needs tons of cannonballs, and lots of rum especially if you're pillaging for hours at a time. but small ship i would assume a sloop like most people you can go 30 fine rum 50 cballs although i like to magdump so i go 75-100 cballs (if you ever do battle navigation, there's no penalty for overshooting, you only lose rank/rating if you get hit)

btw if you do pillages with no rum, there's a fun side effect see pic related
>>
>>2483534
so that is the game's experience and local rank system. left side (where it says solid) is pure time spent in a puzzle, that never goes down. right side is how you stand compared to your peers in your local group, thats the archipelago bit

>wtf is a local group and arch

the way to understand this is some history. the server and map system you see now is actually a combined mega server since back in the day, there were more people, more oceans, all with different islands and such. these have now all been merged

your spawn in the game (which you change any time btw by gaining citizenship in a diff island, it's pretty strategic since you get free teleports if you tele home) determines your local group archipelago. so the idea is that if you encounter say, an Ultimate rank from a hot populated arch, it's meant to be a bigger deal than an Ultimate from some guy in bumfuck nowhere

>why is it so complicated

because the devs wanted to limit numeric references in the game for vibes basically. regular MMO RPGs would say your Global Experience is at Level 5 with a Local Rank of 3 (made these figures up) and that is not very pirate like

brawling actually gets easier the more you understand it. just build up groups of 3 of the same colored balls, then the 3rd one charge up the shot, then continue building lines, but leave space open to the top one so it breaks all the lines and pops all the charges, its really great strategically after learning how to play it. sprinkling can work but you will get teamed up on like in swordfighting and get fucked by thousands of balls coming at you too fast for you to react

puzzle pirate anon are we able to have our own island by the end of the 2 weeks or is that not possible? if so that should be the goal everyone works towards that way people who are lost have a set goal

people already touched on it but you have to get it. there are players who have the whole world map memorized, you can hire them to chart on your map a path, and then you can have bots or a small crew to escort your ship somewhere more sensible. you might see on the Notice Board people doing the "Forage" puzzle, great puzzle btw, very fun, i can tell you all the trick to that

but anyway those are ships stationed at remote islands for loot. usually the person hosting or managing that has a good sense of Duty Navigation (as opposed to Battle Navigation) and good duty navigation teaches your pirate to memorize league points so you can chart paths without maps i.e. get yourself out or go to remote islands to farm fruit loot via puzzles. they also often hire players for protectiom as having high fruit in your boat attracts monkey pirates. not racist i mean literaly monkeys that are pirates

>>2491852
>>2491907

there are various, time limited rare ships over the decades this game has been out. That is the Easter themed spring class or verdant class sloop or some shit, has a little green icon. Shipyards are able to make these while availahle but some are now forever limited hence why very expensive. you see these offers all thentime in trade chat. some ships let you turn into zombies, skeletons, ghosts too, many have themes
>>
>>2491879
yes you got it, you have the right idea for rumble.

>puzzle pirate anon are we able to have our own island by the end of the 2 weeks or is that not possible?

technically possible but it depends how comitted you guys are. so each island with exceptions like player mod dev islands for newbies, pretty much all islands are player run, and become up for grabs during weekend events known as "Blockades" think of the sea battle puzzle, but everyone is on the same board, like a battlefield ground war mode. winner who captures the most areas like domination "wins" the blockade and takes the island. some are sinky blockades too, making big island blockades typically rich man elite games of whoever has the most money to buy ships buy officers and buy players to zerg rush or strategically defend islands

big islands = big deals, which is why a blockade on Admiral Island the games capital is a server wide event

small islands with like one or two buildings those are hit or miss. if we have good poker players and coordinate with the ingame existing powers, we can maybe take one yes. but the game's politics and macro is like EVE Online so full of personalities, drama, negotiation, and betrayals for dominance and power

you can write whole books just like EVE Onlinr's politics of the big flags of legends and epic blockades and such but uhh to answer your question, maybe if the stars align and again, we have poker stars for capital by pooling in funds for them and enough diplomats to convince some big wig somewhere to throw a bone, usually by talking to them in discord and literally larping like pirate kangs

a more sensible goal for us is to just goof off and try to do as much Sea Monster Hunts as much as possible Vampire Lairs too, Cursed Isles and such. That is more mid high tier content than endgame elite where you enter into island negotiations autism
>>

I still hate it I get annoyed when the wrong thing goes in
>>
File: image.png (525 KB, 507x595)

you can control the speed through the toggle in the interface. the trick to gunnery btw is by having a clear and clean loop via board spawn, which is why you might see elite gunners repeatedly enter and exit the puzzle to restart it for good spawns

once a good board is established, you can structure and position such that you just tweak one tile to enter and exit compontents in and out of the barrel. this is what top tier gunners do especially with trigger happy captains that magdump, very fun

but yes for starting out go very slow, just practice form and structure. this basic principle applies to all puzzles: master the fundamentals and then naturally scale up in difficulty. the first step to learning chess is just getting a basic idea of what each piece does, how it works, and then basic strategy and openings for example rather than endgame checkmate autism

fun fact: each island, while player run, are carefully curated to be thematically consistent in its naming scheme for its buildings. for example, if you go to Admiral Island, it is full of Hollywood and Film, and you see a lot of movie references baked into the names of each building you can see in the mini map menu. each island has their own themes in this way, built up over decades of hands changing

check it out! some are genuinely funny memes and puns, a big part of the in-game culture.

can we pool our money together and buy an island
>>
>>2493461
we can pool our money to the best poker player to multiply 100k poe for example to 10m-30m and buy a fleet for us to take an island. we cannot just buy an island outright, the islands are occupied and are only contested in special blockade periods you can see in the "Blockade" tab

i have absolutely no idea if even 10-30m is enough, this is ultra endgame stuff with player politics. bribing a current occupant to just give it up could be several tens of millions alone. epstein island is very expensive for us to take anon

but us having a pirate mansion is very doable that officers can mutually decorate and such, a pirate hangout for us
>>
>>2493461

>>2493628
i would say we purchase the lot at the capital island, Admiral Island, that way it is accessible and close to everything. it is a bit expensive if you want something fairly sized. be assured, if i get a chance to be in the same time as the captain, i wish to talk to them in how we can achieve this sooner as a gift, since i do not see it as fundamentally realistic to be able to buy literal real estate in a 2 week period without outside assistance

the mansion cannot be directly named per se, but there are lots of custom text options. this will make more sense in-game, we can even throw parties and put ascii in the mansion text field

the ships though, can be entirely renamed. it is one of the things i wish to discuss with the captain, since if they should wish to receive it, i want to welcome and give gifts such as a rare ship to be the crew's flagship, alongside rename tokens to truly claim it as ours. to me this is such a joyous time and to receive this gift from me is very important. it is not going to spoil anything; this ship could not be obtained by any other means

the ship is banana themed btw for memes

Oh and the one I'm worst at is gunning but I can see how people like it. Drinking I was good at but its so uninteresting. It should be a speed game and instead it's tic tac toe.
>>
>>2497098
blacksmithing, huh?
how would you rate distilling?
>>
>>2497120
I like bilging, carpentry and rumble now that ive learned them. gunnery is fun but challenging when you can do it. i hate swordfighting because it forces you to play slow and badly

swordfight all day err day. where my swordbros at?

someone gave me an old katana btw. idk how the stats work i just wanna pop shit with fast forward. a samurai has to be a top tier sword like how is it not

>also why no gun dueling as another combat skill it should be like pvp carnival shoot the moving target shit or something

distilling is fun but i am bad, i think the strat is to move all the burnt/shit ones to the right and move all the good ones to the left, obviously there's skill in it that takes time though
>>2497120
you can click the restart button under the map on the top right if you get a chest stuck.

apparently the thing about swords is that you either can go a bit slower and do big combos like the falcon sword or whatever. or you go fast and do small combos like with saber. these are the extremes and the various swords are in the middle. if you are a big combo guy or a small fast dude basically. STR vs DEX builds i guess
>>
>>2497569
they need to just remove the swords from the game and make it a tetris like game based on skill like every other puzzle. swordfighting is the only puzzle that punishes you for clearing as quick as possible so bullshit to have a sword cut through middle of my screen then never get any break swords so i just lose. very poorly thought out puzzle design
>>
>>2497644
t. doesn't know to rotate blocks and manage stacks to make big pops
>>
>>2497664
its not that its when half your puzzle is half filled with metal blocks you cant see the color of for 2 turns, its bullshit. its a total guessing game and based on zero skill
>>
>>2497696
if you're getting pelted with swords you're supposed to slow down and stall. otherwise post a webm of you swordifghting because how can other people be doing fine but you seem to be struggling

okay fair but i wanna help you, can you at least post a screenshot or something? because i am very curious about your thought process behind puzzle decisions
>>
>stall for 5 years
>don't have any dots for aggro
>sprinkles and attacks keep coming in anyway, like manna from heaven, throughout the puzzle
i'm unsure if the people giving tips on this game know how it works, because shouldn't this be the exact opposite of what they're telling me would happen?
>>
>>2497283

Yep, that's me. You're probably wondering how I got here.
>>
>>2497817
that just tells me you were ganged up earlier, they unleashed their swords, and then switched out. the swords are put on a queue, meaning the moment you stopped stalling, the swords are now going to pile in but no new swords after that blitz will come in, so if you survive, you will have no new swords

stalling doesn't make swords disappear, it delays it. the only way to make them disappear is if the person who attacked dies i.e. the bot or something gets KO'd before the sword registers on your screen or your own teammates "defends" you by clicking on your icon and shares some of your swords for you

>what the fuck how was i supposed to know that

i agree i wish the game explained all these mechanics clearer to people

It's been a few years since I've played Puzzle Pirates but it is my memory that every non-PvP minigame looks at a sliding window of your moves and as you take more moves the score you earned on older moves falls out of the window.

I'll be running a "Win A Ship" swordfighting tournament after pictures today. Sticks only, which creates big easy to break blocks, so everyone is on an equal ground sword wise and there is a lot of potential for comebacks.

First place prize will be a limited edition ship donated by our generous local.

Sorry for the late notice, but hopefully you were showing up for pictures either way!
