TL:DR:
>Complete all Trainer Challenges to get 45 free packs (use Cheat Engine's speedhack to speed up AI games)
>Play through using Basic decks to unlock them for versus play.
>Farm Versus Mode theme ladder for Tokens and Tournament Tickets.
>Enter tournaments to get TRADABLE chests and packs.
>DON'T OPEN THEM.
>Trade them for the cards you actually want for a deck you want to build directly, or flip your way up to them.
>Public trade is like the GTS, if you want proper results, put up your own offers.

What themedeck should I buy?
>Buy the Lunala one.

how do i defeat the fairy menace called Gardevoir GX

I was grasping for straws on OP image/edition, and it was the last thing talked about in the previous thread.

Fairies are weak to Cold Iron.
>>
>>33707528
It's easier to complete some challenges in Theme and you have Theme tournaments.

Name one.

>>33707524
I one shot this cat with either mimikyu or gothirita and kukui. Gothirita confuse and they flip tails is also a ko.
>>33707528
Its a great way to learn the very basics of pokemon. It lets you grind tokens and tickets with little investment so you can then get into other formats. 500 tokens gets you the best theme deck currently.
>>
>>33707528
>why play theme though?
anyone still doing the solo campaign. I want to use my actual deck to get through these SO BAD. Waiting 6 turns for a decent card because you have too much energy and basics, too few evolutions, and only like 2 cards to search or draw, playing without any supporters other than inferior draw, no rare candies or megelixir

games last like 24 turns then you lose to bullshit.

Does it need it? Sylveon can just grab rare candies. Makes it even faster, albeit vulnerable to N.

Use Metagross to accelerate, Necrozma GX attack whammy them, then mass devolve with Espeon, because what has 100 health at basic/stage 1? Not much. And what isn't dead is near-dead.

Anyone have things they always do during certain games?

In the tcgo, I spam the :D button right before I'm about to win- like I'm laughing maniacally. I'd friend/message a long HAHAHA copypasta, but that seems a good way to get banned.

On that note, there needs to be a facepalm button for when you- or your opponent- does something really stupid.

In terms of facepalm, I tend to use :o + "that was close" for mistakes. I've also seen :o + :D used as well as "well played" used sarcastically.

As for my own personal ticks, I try to throw a well played in as part of my final move/combo against a worthy or particularly friendly opponent or as a snappy sign off/countergloat during upset victories against... well, people like you.

Hey, does anyone know how to gain tokens on the pokemon.com main website? I know you can do puzzles, but I heard there is a passive way to gain.
>>
>>33708527
I wish your own emotes didn't cover your left two most cards. I need to grab those energy and I don't want to wait around long because often times if they see why they're gonna lose after a Well Played they're already heading for the concede button and I want my kill for the challenge.
I could just never emote during challenges, but then I'm just being rude never giving them GG.
>>
>>33708988
click on news articles is probably easiest.
looking at the same one multiple times doesn't count unless they're in different languages.

It gives next to nothing though. Caps at 15, which is 1 under what it takes to fund 2 8 hour trades, or is 3 match wins after maxing out your bonus bar for the day.

Technically faster than completing those three matches, but not sure if it's worth the effort unless you write a script or something that does it for you.

>>
>>33708623

cut a Necrozma for a Vulpix otherwise it is fine. I've seen people do 2 Lele/2 Bridgette or 3 Lele/1 Bridgette but it is playstyle preference not objective.
>>
>>33709648
This guy didn't
>>33705000

So I assumed since he placed that was the typical version.
>>
>>33709657
I don't know why you would ever run two brigette.
Early game you ultra->Lele->brigette. But after that there's basically no way your bench drops down to less than 3, because you've already got 4 then and more trickling in.
Since you almost never need 3 after that, I would lay 1 brigette, 1 PFC., that way you can search for Lele's with it and still get their ability.
>>
>>33709731
Two brigette isn't because you want to use both in one game necessarily, it's specifically for decks that hinge on the early setup that get screwed big time if a one-of brigette is prized
>>
>>33707655
That darkrai has some cute legs.
>>
>>33708527
Are you 13 my dude
>>
>>33709731
Ultra ball for lele is ok, but it feels really good to not have to do it. A raw brigette means you can use your resources to search for other trainers. Just NOT prizing brigette is also not good enough. Searching brigette and bricking yourself is not acceptable, so you need an adequate hand in order for the wonder tag brigette play to even be viable, otherwise you are going to end up grabbing a draw supporter.

In a dedicated stage 2 decks in standard, the standard is double brigette. Most of the best players grinding for worlds are doing this and independently came to the same conclusion.
>>
>>33709940
This. It's for the consistency of getting off turn 1 Brigette, not so you can play it twice in a game
>>
>>33707528
Requires less effort, not literally just all EX/GX, and the Theme tournaments give the most recent sets as rewards.

should I try this game instead?
>>
>>33713350
It's fun, and considerably cheaper, especially online.

We get one like you wanting to swap nearly every other general.

The only major complaint I hear by magic players is the lack of instants. No last second boosts, no counterspells, no way to surprise or retroactively undo, as long as you rtfc you know exactly the immediate consequences of your actions, and if you want to prevent an action from your opponent you need to do it preemptively, or retroactively repair the damage.
Personally I like this, as it leads to totally informed, weighty decisions and counterplanning, like chess, rather than a bunch of "nuh-uh, actually..." like kids on a dang playground.

Another option you might want to look into if you want something more exactly like mtg is Eternal.

Also dragon is a fucked up unsupported type. They only exist to be weak to fairy. Noivern is okay and you can sneak wins with power whip goodra but that's all you got in standard. Dragons outside of that tend to be a random tech card.
>>
>>33713629
not 100% sure because I've never played it. however, based on similar decks I'm seeing online:

drop both water energy and a grass
Brigette is a better PFC if you have no Lele.
flying flip koko
two revitalizer and super rod instead of one of those stretchers.

Maybe also drop the basics down to the same number as your tops, unless you're really, really having trouble getting them going at lower levels.
>>

Those usually come out in November, but it wouldn't surprise me if TPCi canceled it like they do to the Landorus-EX/Genesect-EX Battle Arena Deck.

No, it's Dragon.
You even get a fedora by entering the code "dragonsexalted"
>>
>>33715274
No. You only really need to win 4 games for maximum efficiency, anything after that is extra, and anything after the final box is just grinding for no reason.
>>
>>33715274
No. Not for vs rewards. once you get 5 mystery boxes the reward for wining (5tokes) is not worth it. Just take a break. If you really want to maximize your time, just get 4 wins (3 mystery boxes) you miss out on the ticket and 2 boxes but its much less effort and time. Personally I just do 4 wins, expanded is much faster for me. Karen gives me a quick win vs night march which is popular. tournaments can also spin 25 tokens each game, so if you are really desperate tokens can be gotten there too.
>>
>>33715302
Thanks. I really dont know how to manage my coins now. I planned to save for the next expansion but having two small expansions so close to each other with so many RRs feels really uncomfortable. There used to be three months between expansions, what happened ?
>>
>assume lele's price will get cheaper some months ago so dont really mind her too much
>she's now even more expensive are shaymin-ex got the boot

well good thing i traded my shaimins for her at the very least but damn
>>
>>33715377
I am legitimately surprised how strong shaymin-ex has in value currently. i use it to flip and its very difficult to get it cheap. I just use my BUS pack then flip for GRI with shaymin-ex. Lele's value in paper hss dropped by 10$ on average, yet in game its still 26 GRI strong all day on the market. Wonder how this lele meme plays out.
>>
>>33715400
I dont play expanded so I dont really care for the price of things that dropped out of standard, but release lele was around 21 packs and now she's sitting at 28, and considering she seems the only pokemon in standard serving that particular niche i dont see it dropping, in fact it'll probably keep rising as BUS packs become less and less desirable and the only way to get her will be trading

so does that mean she's a complete asshole and doenst even try to hide it ?
>>

Either that or Lele is a huge asshole and doesn't even realize it. The Tapus are the closest we've gotten to mythological fairies in personality from Pokemon and I really appreciate that about them.
My money is on Lele being the reason Olivia is still single and alone.
>>
>>33715534
Holy shit I want this in my Trev break/honchkrow deck. Might even just drop trevs for a full set of promo kokos

Imagine it in expanded Trev though

I'd drop most of the side stuff and try to fit a metagross engine in there for solgaleo, also heavy balls can tutor cosmoem, solgaleo and metagross himself if you run him

More Choice Band for guaranteed 1HKOs on anything, Float Stone is a little redundant with Ultra Road. Get a Brigette instead of Pokemon Fan Club. Not a huge fan of Altar of the Sunne personally, you could replace it with something like Parallel City for bench control. Not sure how I feel about Genesect. Does considerably less damage than Solgaleo for the same energy costs with less health and a semi-usless ability. Deck seems okay though, I'd give it a 7/10 in it's current state.

Magearna was my Genesect alternative for when I need something to unload my Sol Burst energy onto that's quicker than betting on a second Solgaleo and can ohko GXs .I may end up using Kartana instead of either when it comes out (or celesteela if it's relevant at all)

It's pretty bad as far as EXs go. It's even used as the example in the OP image for the section explaining how some normal pokemon are better than EX pokemon.
Not a bad looking card though, if you're a collector.
>>
>>33715757
I find Drampa more useful than jirachi and genesect.
Very little oneshots solgaleo, and you're already running DCEs. Meanwhile babyray dies pretty easy so it's nice to have a thing that doesn't require constant feeding to run.

Why do you need float stones though, use ultra road.
>>
>>33715757
Getting in on this train, here's my Solar Ray deck.

Any suggestions? Current W/L is only 30/45, so I'm sure there's room for improvement.

holy shit I had forgotten what theme is like
guess its back to standard tournaments for me
>>
>>33716566
RIGHT? I still have like, 26 unclaimed packs in solo play but to actually play those 80 remaining matches will be so much cancer I can't actually force myself to do it.
>>
>>33716636
its slowly getting better, hopefully in a couple of expansions you wont have to wait 10 turns to draw something playable in the new theme decks
>>
>>33715757
Drop float and Genesect, use all gx solgaleo.
>>
>>33716791
Just swapped fanclub for brigette, float for more bands. I think maybe I'll switch to 3-1 but it's important to have at least one babby sol in case you can't get ray up and need a reusable attacker, or fighting A-ninetales
>>
>>33716797
I dont think you should plan for failure when building a deck, but thats just me
>>
>>33716902
A-ninetales is enough of a reason to run 1-2 baby's, unless I can find a non-GX or EX steel basic that does the job better (maybe Cobalion)
>>
>>33716908
I've actually seen a bunch of lists that run 4 GX and 1 Baby so that you have one if you need it, but still have the others if you don't. You might think about that.
>>
>>33716949
When it comes out Crimson Invasion Registeel looks like what I'm looking for. Might even work as a Ray replacement b/c of its first attack
>>
>>33713629
it's a whole lot less good since the loss of FoGP in September. Were you reading up to date articles?

man , imagine forest with Shining Legends Venusaur and a toolbox of fat grass basics (bulu, venusaur ex, shining genesect)

Hey veepee, I'm currently a magic player but I'm looking to buikd a casual deck based around personal favourites. How would/should I go about building a Noivern + pseudo's deck? (Cards from any expansion are fine)
>>
>>33717338

play metagross lol
>>
Did I got full retard /vp/? I used all my tokens on Guardians Rising, and pulled only lycanroc and metagross gx FA. Opened hundreds of locked packs hoping for that tapu lele gx. Friend told me I could have used those for tournaments. I feel like quitting this game now.
>>
>>33717531
retard
>>
>>33717531
I did the same. I got nearly 90 packs with just tokens and got dirt. I would've definitely done things differently knowing what I know now but whatever.
>>
>>33717531
Eh, tokens are easy enough to get back
I spent down to 200 buying two jirachi and two regirock packs. I'm back over 1000 only a few days later.

But seriously never buy those packs in the shop.
>>
what should I buy with all the poke coins I got?
>>
Do any of you play in an actual league? My local league is full of 10yo kids, I felt like a huge man-child there.
>>
>>33718551
Become a professor. Then you have an excuse to be there so you don't look like a pedo.
>>
>>33718585
Isn't that only if I want to be a judge in events?
>>
>>33718641
Or an organizer.

For tcg judge you only need to know basic deck construction, intro concepts (weakness, evolution, prize cards), game setup and resolution, and activities.

If you're better than the deck wizard and have W/L higher than 50%, you're qualified to teach children babby's firsts at your local league.

They kids will look up to you, their mothers will respect you rather than giving you the stink eye, and you'll earn professor points to spend on exclusive merch.

That's not really how it works. Pick one or two attackers and we can help you then. Here's a semi-shitty Noivern deck that got me tons of wins during the Fighting challenge last week. But with so much Fairy around Noivern is suicide rn.

Pika packs are pretty much the only thing I can trade at the moment, but since I also have no particular EXes or Pokemon cards in mind since I'm still relatively new, what are good Item and Support cards every player should have? The basic decks and cards one start out with have done well thus far (like Ultra balls, N, Sycamores etc), but is there anything else I'd be wise to acquire that most decks would benefit from?
>>
Is anyone going to a prerelease?
My comic store is doing one-and he kinda explained how they do it- but i still dont fully get it.
Is it worth 30 dollars?

>>
>>33720324
You make a 40 card deck with 20 provided cards and the packs they give you. You might get more packs by playing to the end of the rounds. Its decent fun and a nice way to meet people.
>>
>>33720324
Basically, each player gets a special box which contains 4 booster packs and a special 20-card pack which contains a mix of
-several complete evolution lines
-some single-stage Pokémon
-several trainer cards (some from the set, some from previous sets)

For instance, in an Evolutions pre-release, your special pack might contain
3 Machop, 2 Machoke, 1 Machamp, 2 Vulpix, 1 Ninetales, 2 Pikachu, 1 Raichu, 1 Brock's Grit, 1 Potion, 1 Revive, 1 Super Potion, 1 Professor Sycamore, 1 Pokédex, 1 Lysandre, 1 Switch

You open your special pack and your four booster packs, and can also use as much basic energy as you want, and make a 40-card deck.
You then play a tournament with other people who made a deck under the same conditions.

The special pack is meant to make it so that even if you got completely fucked over by your packs, you still have something somewhat coherent to work with. I guarantee you'll end up with a deck built around something mediocre like Machamp and play against somebody who somehow pulled a Blastoise EX and a M-Blastoise EX though.

If you have a playmat and card sleeves, definitely bring them. If you get a good card and end up creasing it in the tournament, people will get upset with you.

Were the BW Reshiram and Zekrom cards actually good competitively?

I remember them feeling practically unbeatable in the casual TCG club I went to at the time, but that isn't really representative.
>>
>>33721182
yes, they were extremely strong with emboar and typhlosion and before EX's were re-introduced to the format
>>
>>33721182
Reshiphlosion was the equivailent of today's Gardevoir GX deck when BW was first released.
