What was this game inspired by? The mechanics and the enemy types seem familiar, but I can't quite place them. It isn't JUST Mega Man.

Ninja Gaiden which was released a year earlier.
>>
I think it was inspired by Batman: The Movie(1989).

Batman plays nothing like megaman.

It's probably the only retro action platformer he's played (or seen on YouTube most likely) before Batman, be nice on the 2000 kid.

>>4500447
Return of the Joker, while different, is also worth playing.

Om. I forget this place is getting infected with kids now. It's fucking annoying.
>>

It's still Christmas break for kids in a lot of places, wait till Monday.

Seems like a carbon copy of Kabuki, Quantum Fighter to me.

Though I could be wrong if Kabuki came after Batman.

Exactly this. And pretty much only this.

Sunsoft in the NES days was pretty much known for making games heavily inspired by previous popular ones without them being cheap knock-offs. In short, they were good at recreating a game style with their own style.

Batman = Ninja Gaiden
Silius = Mega Man
Blaster Master = Metroid

Also, forgot to add, even the soundtracks are like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUqNo7uB_JI

Not a real soundtrack but you get the idea.

>inspired by
Probably the other 400 thousand side scrolling platformer/shooty/punchy games on the nes.
>>
>>4500447
There's definitely a bit of Ninja Gaiden in there, though it feels different enough to be its own thing.

That's not Journey to Silius, that's a remix of the Haunted Castle song "Don't Wait Until Night"

This is the actual stage 4 of Journey to Silius

Stage 1 is the best song though
