>>91956214I watched a little bit of all the top players in the Kizuna Ai era, mostly Moemi/Yomemi from Eilene Family but I never got super into vtubing of this era. The first vtuber of the livestreaming era that I discovered was Saionji Mary when I was watching Japanese ASMR on youtube. Through her I discovered her fellow Honey Strap member Patra (and also Natori Sana). But I was all about Japanese ASMR around that time so that's all I watched from them.Throughout 2019 I kept hearing about Hololive and Minato Aqua but I never cared to check what that's all about myself. In the summer of 2020 there was massive noise about Hololive and Coco and there was an Asacoco reference in Kaguya-sama. That time I finally checked out Hololive and became a total addict - for something like a year and a half I spent almost all of my time awake consuming Hololive and Nijisanji (Marine being my main oshi and Mito being my niji oshi). It was insane and I didn't want to live the rest of my life like that so I took myself out of the rabbit hole by force.

I was here from the beginning. At least before Ai-chan made her games channel, before fakkyu, before her PPAP even. It's been really weird seeing the transition from anime girls imitating 2011 vloggers to current streamer-idol hybrids. Japanese Youtube was so behind the times back then that those "aru aru" videos were still trendy, basically vlogs talking about relatable experiences in school/work/concerts/whatever. Then the western fandom kinda died when youtube removed the option for user submitted CCs and all the vtuber fansubs died. Back then even niche JP vtubers like DWU or Mochi Hiyoko had some western fans that subbed their videos, now they're almost exclusively JP because most people can't understand Japanese.
This takes me back. Its already pretty crazy there are people here in this longer than I have been and that there people who came years after I was into itBasically I started seeing cute anime girls being posted in my pro wrestling threads. It started with an elite Pink girl then a dog girl and later a rabbit. I figured it must be some new anime thing and asked before finding out it was vtubers. I went looking for their stuff but it was all in JP back then and searching just lead me to clip channels. I didnt want tidbits I wanted to see streams so I ended up watch Pekora play Fallout 4 and folowed it up by watching her Halloween trap house compilation. I got into it just in time to hear about the Holo-Caust and to see everyone prepare for Aloes return that never happened.I kinda stepped back and just checked out clips now and then before hearing there was an English branch and I missed their debuts. A little while later I found the Shark had collabed with the Detective and Chutulu girl on a medical Kusaga. The seocnd that Shark accidently ripped Bobs head off after telling him "It would all be over soon" I knew I had found my Oshii. Funny thing though ti took me forever to finish that stream. How could I sit around watching this for 2 whole hours? Ahhhh...I watch Kaela play Minecraft nowadays and dont miss a beat
