We didn't even reach the 300 post limit last time edition.

>What are startpages?
Startpages (in the context of this thread) are locally hosted webpages (as in, the files are on your computer - not a server somewhere) that serve as the homepage or new tab page for a browser. They generally contain some number of links to frequently visited sites as the main element; search bars, clocks, calendars and other embedded items are usually added as secondary elements.

>What browser are you using?
If you can't tell what browser it is, it's probably Firefox, you can theme Firefox using Stylish and finding themes on the Firefox tag of Userstyles.
Otherwise if you won't upgrade there's always Chrome, you can ~slightly~ customize it using Chrome Theme Maker. Lately, we noticed Vivaldi can can have custom css too.

Hello anons,
I really want to style my firefox and 4chan css to look like the ones from /g/'s desktop threads. However, I don't really know where to start (apart from the listed resources). I've managed to rip other's userChrome.css and edit it to my liking but other than that, I've no idea about css.
How does one find a firefox's element's name? e.g. ".tab-close-button" I believe inspect element only works for webpages, not the ff ui. And, how long did you have to study a css course before you could comfortably experiment and edit ff?

Also, must you use Stylish to style 4chan? There's a css option in 4chan X but that doesn't change anything when I apply others' 4chan css.

Cheers.
>>
>>7348542
That's a lot of questions. So under my impression, for firefox you only need to tweak the userChrome on your profile through CSS. If you need more selectors, search the DOM Selector, you should have it laying around the F12 options, if not, there's addons for that.

To the 4chan CSS thing, stylus works, and 4chanX too, but I never put my stuff on the 4chanX option so I can't guarantee you anything.

His startpage is pretty great, I've also been using an edit of it.
I've only been facing a problem with the "to do", it works fine in the live preview however when I try to add more than two notes in my version I simply can't, nor can I do more than 10 letters in the first note or I won't be able to write a second one at all. Even when I use a freshly downloaded version from his github I face the same problem.
I'm using Chromium and I have only edited the index and the style css. What could it be? I have never edited any of the js.

it'd be way easier to help you if you showed pictures of the stuff you wanna do. also, from the sounds of what you're saying it looks like you don't have a lot of experience with CSS. So instead of asking constant questions for every specific thing that you wanna do, I recommend watching some tutorials on basic web development stuff so that you are able to seek these answers yourself.

The color scheme is fantastic really, I would go with a more cream and less beige color for the contrast but I guess you like it like that so thats personal preference.
Get rid of that checkbox or replace it with something less from the 90s and you got a really good looking 4chan.

You can use the same code I posted previously, just change quotelink to postMenuBtn.

You should learn to use your browser's DevTools, especially the Element Inspector (CTRL + SHIFT + i, at least on Chrome). Makes finding the CSS selectors and general dev'ing WAY easier. Basically a necessity if you ever plan on doing any serious webdev. Including userstyles.

They're stored in Local Storage, same for any changes you do to the links directly on the page. It's a simple JS cookie, google it for more info.

Well, for starters, the other dude has a way neater font.
Both of your accent colors were chosen nicely from your pic, but the pure white on yours sticks out as high-contrast, while his is all low-contrast colors.
Probably the most important thing he does better is that all his content fits neatly in a box, and is aligned to an invisible grid. Your element edges don't really align too much, but aren't fucked enough that it could be considered an artistic choice. Gives the impression that you didn't put enough thought into the placement of your elements.

Good stuff, tho.

Pretty nice. Keeping it simple and sleek.

If you're interested in recommendations, I'd suggest adding some whitespace, especially vertical.
For example the "Welcome to the Internet" line-height is so low that it's almost overlapping itself.
And the subtitle -> link vertical spacing is pretty small too.

quick question, I downloaded an extension and this:
