>>2462100

>>
>>2462070
>0:28-1:17
What about that segment makes it not techno? Seems like a techno beat with a similar progression. Yeah after 1:17 it's no longer techno. At 0:50 there's the "high-pass to remove the foundation of bass then re-enter harder" that schranz/hard-techno does. What does it sound closest to? Would guess schranz, but it doesn't sound like >>2445613.

Just want to discuss EDM taxonomy.
>>
>>2464223
A segment doesn't make it a specific genre, same as a jazz sample doesn't make a hiphop beat jazz.
>Seems like a techno beat with a similar progression
see >>2461906

It has schranz elements, as well as break beat, some pop elements, a bit of gachi or whatever these animu electro shit tracks are called.

It's still not techno, not even a subset of it.
>>
>>2464282
>A segment doesn't make it a specific genre
While true, I was just thinking that segment had some legitimacy.

While watching the video you referenced to, it seemed that more melody-laden songs were not techno. I disagree, but techno is more about the beat and progression. The only difference I saw between techno and house was that techno had no drops and was just a progression in layers in such. While house had that distinct drop. There's little difference between techno and tech-house but the difference between techno and pop is having no "drops".
>>
>>2464317
Techno is not melodic, Techno has ambience/atmosphere, created by drone sounds (long stretched, distorted tones with the most common variety of 3 note patterns), what you refer to is Trance.
Also: The reference video is from an actual Techno musician, so you can disagree all you want, it is what it is.

>but the difference between techno and pop is having no "drops".
It's also much less melodic or atmospheric, not as much high hats, more concentration on mids and base than on rhythmic beats through high hats, claps, etc.
>>
There are a bunch of JAV with oiled strippers dancing on pretty heavy techno etc...
Anyone knows where I could find the tracklists or mixes ? Some nice tracks in there.

>>
>>2465015
If you're referring to Terror Acid, there's a genre called acid techno, ya know.

Also, calling Bicep's In Yer Face remix techno is weird, it's pretty much just electronic house. I mean, I love the song too, it's in my playlist, but I wouldn't consider it techno.

1) Trance
2) I don't even know what it is, neither, house or electro, their bandcamp says experimental dance, but it's to slow to dance to
3) Their yt says electornic techo, but it's more in between tech house and deep house
>>
>>2465779

well you are wrong on all 3. and nobody likes genre elitist.

>It's also much less melodic or atmospheric, not as much high hats, more concentration on mids and base than on rhythmic beats through high hats, claps, etc.
I guess I got techno all wrong. What do you think about hardgroove (ex. >>2445507)? The hi-hats almost make the genre.

Also don't know what I was thinking. Melody is trance, rhythm is techno.
>>
>>2468600
To add: note the hi-hats between 0:39-0:53. That's the distinct hardgroove hi-hat.
>>
>>
>>
>>2466862
They're all left-field techno. Pretty fun genre imo. Perfect for an opening set. You do play, right anon? You're not some kind of techno snob without any sort of actual background besides whining about beer prices at your local mainstream after hours, right?
>>
speaking of different genres of techno, industrial has really made its own bubble which i really enjoy. It reminds me slightly of technical death metal, by feeling and energy.

>>
currently my favourite techno song:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3U1HVvW9EpY
>>
>>2468600
see >>2461891

Might be, not familiar with what hardgroove. I'd consider this house, not sure which sub genre though.

>>2466862
Wouldn't consider myself an elitist, it's just that people throw everything in one pot which is just wrong. It's the same like people call everything classic as soon as an orchestra makes music. The reason why we define genres or for that matter any category in every part of life is to distinguish easier and to chose based on specific preferences.

And:
1) is very uncommon for techno and due to the melodic nature of the track has a lot more similarities of what you'd find in early 90's trance or space music. I do listened to the album on bandcamp but none of the tracks on it are techno.
2) doesn't have a baseline is more melodic than rhythmic, doesn't change atmosphere or progresses atmosphere through claps, hats, kicks.
3) you could try to argue it's deep techno but doesn't have a hard baseline. to atmospheric to be played in a club, you'd find that in a chill our area

Quadrant is more like tech house
>>
>>2472929
To add to my previous comment. Some example techno sets, first being more atmospheric. Second is interesting showing the difference between original detroit techno and berlin techno, which now days is the most common form of "real" techno. Third is atmospheric lo-fi techno

Most of the stuff is actual techno, a few acid techno tracks and some more experimental here and there but pretty good stuff. Thanks for sharing
