Do you guys collect anime DVD's and Blu Ray's? If not, what stops you from supporting the shit you like?
A lot of shows are unreasonably expensive.
>>154756594Yes, I do if I really enjoyed the series.
>>154756852>watch a series>love it>wait for it get a region DVD/BR release>$60 for a few episodes or half a seasonor>limited print, out of stock, no reprints, scalpers/collectors want hundredsI'll just stick to downloading.
>>154756594Doesn't matter how many times I buy 80s shows, doesn't matter how much I support them, the 80s will never come back
>>154756594I'm pretty proud of my collection.I'm waiting for the western release of Gakkou Gurashi right now.
>>154756594I'm a cheap bastard.
Collecting is pretty much all I care about besides 4chan and watching anime.
>>154756594Just my absolute favorites that I would be willing to rewatch. I rarely ever rewatch anything.
I have almost an entire shelf of DVDs and blurays but I can't get a good picture of them so here's a picture of my VHSs, most of which I found at local thrift shops.
>>154756594Because a lot of series i want to buy is Region A only and im not buying a fucking american BD player just for anime Anime is also expensive as fuck, i prefer buying manga
I only buy manga really, don't care about physical media much outside of that and buying novels.
>>154763159Fine collection anon, I really should work on buying the rest of Punpun but I really hate how ugly the spine covers look.
>12 episode series gets 3 DVD volumes>Each volume sells for $50 - $60 eachI'll start buying it when the jew distributors stop charging so fucking much
>>154763753The jap prices are ridiculous. Im buying the full season of Dimension W for $45 including the making specials and the bath OVA.
>>154763753>>154763797I feel like some shadowy group is purposely trying to sabotage any chance of anime being consumed by the majority public by charging ridiculous prices for BDs so the average person will be put off getting into the hobby.>>154763797>Nichijou BDs were $500 each>Space Runaway Ideon BDs also $500I mean I'm glad we managed to get the Ideon BDs subbed eventually but holy fuck why would they charge that much?
>>154763753Like >>154763797 said, Jap prices are a even worse, 6 volumes for like $50 or $60 each for a 1 cour show.
>>154763689Really? I think they look great, or rather, i think it's gonna look really nice once i got all of them
>>154763886> any chance of anime being consumed by the majority public by charging ridiculous prices for BDs so the average person will be put off getting into the hobbyYou aren't really meant to buy BDs to consume anime or get into the hobby, though. In Japan you're meant to watch it on TV, and in the West you're meant to watch it on legal streaming sites.
>>154756594I only buy anime on DVD, if it's worth (like FMA:Brotherhood, and Nausicaa)
>>154763159you can pick up a bluray player for like $30 around here now, are they really expensive where you are?
There is no point in having physical media in this day and age.
Favorite items you own? Mine are pic related. Both Captain Tylor and Disappearance are signed by Crispin Freeman, one of the few dub voice actors I respect.
>>154764582I'd consider 30$ pretty expensive, especially if you include shipping and the price of buying the anime plus even more shipping for that.Who knows though, maybe when i've bought all the manga and anime that is available to me i'll buy one.
>>154763431This. Manga is much handier when on paper than in digital form.>tfw your favourite manga isn't published in human-readable languages>tfw don't know japanese
>>154764618There is no point in most people being alive in this day and age. That doesn't stop other people from caring about them.
>>154765473>Any Dowman Sayman manga >Medaka Box>Hinamatsuri>Chikan Otoko>Onani Master Kurasawa>Sumire 16-sai>Nozoki AnaNever fucking ever in englishAtleast Spirit Circle's getting released in english
>>154764558FMA is overrated garbage and naussica is one of the worst ghibli movies. Also who the fuck buys ghibli movies on DVD and not blu ray? thats disgusting.
I want to try building up a VHS collection for the hell of it, but I don't know where to begin.
>>154768438Just go around thrift shops frequently. If that doesn't get you any anime tapes, you might at least find some cool movies.
>>154756594I don't. Downloading is far more convenient and it's free to boot.
>>154768438depends where you are, there's flea markets, craigslist, and especially garage sales
>>154756594All of the stuff that I would really like to get is out of print and the scalpers are charging ridiculous prices for it.Even new DVD's and Blu Ray's are pretty expensive relative to what you get. If it's a show, manga or LN that I really like, I'll eventually get a hard copy. My collection right now could only fill up about one shelf though.
>>154756594No english subtitles.
>>154756594>Spending money on any mediaWhat's wrong with you?
>>154756594I can't affort 60$ for 5 episodes and even if I end up buying it, it's mainly for the collection and I don't watch it because I've already watched the episodes. I buy a shit ton of official merchandise though.
>>154768851Media wouldn't be made if people didn't buy it. If someone doesn't buy it but then bitches about this and that, then they should shut the fuck up.
>>154769085There are enough normies and nips that buy it to break even and make a profit, why should I throw more money at CR, the investors and managers?
>>154769212Because if you don't, then you're just an entitled asshole. You're like a little kid who's told he can have a cookie after doing his homework but the little kid takes a cookie anyway without doing the homework. Sure, you can just download the shows but they're meant to be paid for. If you care enough about a show, there shouldn't be any problem with paying for it.
Of course I collect anime!
>>154756594ITT the classic fallacy tu quoque ad hominem fallacy "It's OK I'm not paying for anime because the market is shit".Of course you're not obligated but then why do you guys keep complaining how shitty anime is nowadays? Can't eat a cake while having it too.
>>154771670Your statement there is in itself fallacious. You can recognise and call out a shit product without buying into the industry.
>>154756594I collected for a while, but I am starting to getting rid of a lot of my physical stuff. Whenever you grow out of anime, you kind of notice that some of the merchandise takes up space and you'll never know when you'll have time to watch your blu rays or dvds.
>>154771989>You can recognise and call out a shit product without buying into the industry. For what purpose? If you really think it's shit then why even bother with it to begin with? And don't tell me watching anime for free is the only option you've got because if you're able to post here then you should be rich enough to buy at least something. Even if it's just a stupid doll.If you're just going to complain about something without contributing anything positive and expecting people to do things for you anyway then you're just as terrible as the people you guys usually mock.
>>154763689I like Punpun's spine. It's simple, not too much wording, and I like the color scheme. It's also the attention grabber out of that guy's bookshelf. t. Graphic Designer.
>>154763159You are a reading man.Your future will be the Nobel Prize winner.
>>154763159>tfw most of the manga that gets to chile is shit that I'm not interested in at all except madoka and S;G>tfw have to go to the us to buy all the manga that I actually like
>>154772999>chile is upside down like australiaI don't know what stuff you're looking for but something like bookdepository has free worldwide shipping
Yes but I only have an old picture of it on hand.I'll try taking a new pic tonight if this thread is still up.
>>154773236really nice looking setup
>>154763159how is the Biscuit Hammer release?
>>154756594First, blu rays are pretty expensive. Second blu rays and mango take a lot of space. Most of my books/manga and dvds/blu rays are still in my parents attic because I simply don't have enough room for them. And I don't want to carry all that shit the next time I move. Why buy expensive stuff that takes that much room when you can put everything on an external hdd for free.
>>154772587>For what purpose? To point out the flaws in the product. (and intentionally or not, influence perceptions of the product)Anyone can spot a broken car even if they don't drive. Don't get me wrong, I agree people should be supporting the niches they like. But it sounds like you don't understand criticism.
>buying animei buy manga, i can just download anime, but downloading manga and reading it digitally is fucking stupid
>>154756594If I was to buy dvds/bluerays they should have subs in my mother tongue. After that, studio ghibli and lupins are pretty much the only ones that have them.
I'd collect if it did anything. Localized shit is still kinda pricey and it doesn't go fully to the animators, and sometimes it's gimped (in quality, or features) from the Japan releases.Japan releases are way too fucking expensive and can have like 4-8 blurays for a 24 episode series, which is insane. Manga is significantly more reasonable, even if localized shit doesn't help the mangaka much if at all.
>>154756594I'd rather support a series through buying manga or merchandise. DVDs and BluRays just seems really expensive, plus I don't even have a BluRay player.
>watch pic related>love everything>want to buy>rev up my wallet, I'm prepared to spend up to 200 dolla->look up price
>>154763797>>154763907Japanese prices are not an argument.Over there buying the discs is a thing more similar to a donation towards future works.Everyone records TV broadcasts. There is no need to buy discs in order to watch a show again. TV anime are essentially infomercials.
>>154756594>collecting localized shitKill yourself.
I do still occasionally buy anime on BD (DVD for classics, if no other option), though I used to buy more in the past.
>>154756594This is all my imported stuff not much. I have the Nep BD-Box pre-ordered if only for the Daki, and if/when it inevitably happens I'll buy a GuP BD-Box.Only localized thing worth mentioning is just the Sora no Woto DVD set I have.
Got some shelves recently, but couldn't get a pic of the first one that wasn't blurry as fuck.
>>154783472My Mario-series-enemy-plush-in-manga-shelf nigger.
>>154783472That is some beautiful Aria collection.Must feel like having part of Neo Venezia in your very home and heart.
>>154783615>he hasn't got masterpieces 4 and 5 yetf-fake fan!
>>154783615It does! Especially with my whole room being covered in posters too. Going to sleep looking at a wall of Akari is the comfiest feeling ever.>>154783700Thanks for reminding me that I need to get them, didn't even know the 5th one had come out. Ordered them just now.
Latest addition to my collection is NNB Repeat.
>>154784361Also a few artbooks.
>>154756594>implying that that money helps jap animators in any significant way>implying that I want to support Funi>implying that I want to pay Aniplex's retarded prices
>>154784454It's fine and perfectly reasonable if you don't want to Anon, a lot of the localized stuff is shit. Jap prices are dumb as fuck and I only bought a few BDs myself. The rest is all manga.
>>154756594How's the Discotek release of Lupin part 2? I'm really tempted by it seeing as how there's no fantastic digital option. it's also nice that it's $40 for 40 episodes
I buy any series I like. It's pointless since I just download it and store it in an external harddrive, but I just like owning it physically too.
>>154773449There was nothing wrong with it as far as i can remember. I think it just used some other terms for stuff than the fan translation.
>>154768438Goodwill and the like.
>>154784655Yeah, that's usually why I don't buy LNs. I've only bought NHK (which has a passable translation, I guess), and the first Boogiepop. Boogiepop's translation is a heaping pile of shit, and I even remember that /a/ digged around a bit and found out that the translator was this egotistical dude who was studying in Japan (back when blogs were a thing.)
>>154784714It's a great release with plenty of extras such as liner notes. As you said, it's also a great deal.
>>154756594Living in Bongistan is suffering, especially if you like Iyashikei-style anime than the more popular battle/shounen. It's understandable though considering they barely sell in Japan either. My meagre collection is mainly just Ghiblis and what few SoL comedies I've managed to scape together over the past ten or so years. As for LNs/manga, I'm currently collecting five that are ongoing: A Bride's Story, Devil is a part-timer (LN), One-Punch Man, SAO Progressive (LN) and Yotsuba.
>>154787092I know. But /a/ or /jp/ never talk about them and with every passing season, it is difficult to keep remembering all the Jap titles. The Maou anime was 4 years ago and I see a Otoyomegatari thread once in a blue moon.
I spent enough back in the day. $20-25 for a dvd containing 3 episodes. I even bought Tenchi on VHS back in the mid-late 90s.2 episodes per tape Fuck i was stupidIt's much better nowadays with box sets, but i'm too jaded to care.
>>154787594>I even bought Tenchi on VHS back in the mid-late 90s.2 episodes per tape Fuck i was stupiddon't be so hard on yourself, those were thirsty times we had to take what we were given
>>154784192how do you function in a room that small
Also, i dont even have a dvd/bd player anymore.I could break out my ps3 again but i gave away the controller
>>154776339I don't get why Aniplex sets have to be so goddamn expensive. I wanna buy the Monogatari BDs but they're all like $150 each. They're nice sets but not that nice.
>>154756594I'm also collecting Lupin. Trying to watch in order though so it's been a long wait for Part 2, but I knew Discotek would get it eventually. Was so happy when it finally happened. Such a good show.
>>154756594Occasionally and only if they're <$10
>subs for jap audio are just the eng dub script
>>154784396I want that Kono Sekai one
>>154788669do they still do dubtitles?
>>154788070How do you feel about part 2 so far?
>>154787676I don't really need more space when all I do is sleep and sit at my computer. Also I have a large living room, kitchen and closed balcony that I can use if I need to.
>>154756594I would if it wasn't so overpriced.I'm not paying that much if there is just the series, which is often the case. Some special packages with extras can be worth it bu the average DVD/Bluray is not.Plus collecting manga is better (especially when local editors go out of their way to make a good, full product instead of just translating), and the experience is better when reading on paper compared to screen, while DLs and DVD/Bluray are essentially the same thing (except some fan made subs are acutally better than official releases)
>>154789169I recommend buying used Japanese releases. It makes them much more affordable, and nips are so gently with the stuff they sell to places like Mandarake that what you're getting is practically new.
>>154789263>implying I could understand shitAlso, won't shipping and customs cancel the price difference?
>>154789169If you're going to bitch about the price of DVD/Blurays then you should be bitching about the price of of manga/LNs too. Jap manga are like 4 or 5 dollars each compared to $10 for a translated book. While the paper might not be high quality, the covers are better than localized and they come with a dust jacket too, so its balances out. I'd honestly prefer the jap style mangas instead of what we get.
I don't see why so many people think those prices are expensive. If you care enough about a series, then why wouldn't you be willing to spend a lot on it? Do you just take all of this for granted? I'm not anywhere near a richfag but I generally care enough about most series that I can spend hundreds on them, even if I think they're only pretty good.
>>154789483I mostly do it for the shelf candy and because maybe SomedayTM I'll learn moon. It's just nice having a physical release of a series you like.Depends on how much shipping ends up being, and if you live in a country where customs fuck you over. Mandarake's webstore is a front for all the stores it has across the country, meaning if you order things from different stores online you'll have to pay shipping for each place. So you can push that price down by ordering from just one place. Usually shipping is around 3500JPY which is not that much, especially when you can get whole series in their original box sets for 3000JPY. If you live in the EU though, customs may fuck you hard. Last time customs was more than all the things I bought + shipping combined.
I have a pretty small collection of manga but thats bc i get most of them from a used bookstore so its a hit or miss most of the time. I wanna grow my collection though just havent had the time and money.
>>154771008Fucking put the loose ones in folders man what's wrong with you
>>154789530>the covers are better than localized and they come with a dust jacket tooWhy don't the localized version have these too?I was thinking of getting the Yotsuba volumes in english but after knowing they don't have the dust cover i don't feel like buying them anymore. My spanish version of the third volume has a dust cover.
>>154789530I'm not from burgeristan, it's closer to 6 to 10€ per volume depending on the size, quality of paper, level of dickishness of the publisher, etc. And they come with dust jackets as well (I must say I don't have any clue why americans publishers don't use them since they don't add any significant expense), some publisher keep the cover designs close to originals. Which really why I bother buying in the first place, hadn't the quality/price balance been that good then it would be a different storythat does however exclude some publishers who botch everything they doFuck Soleil
>>154789530It's mostly the american market being strange. Needing every cent to stay alive. Having to announce items a year before release to get them sold at all. Manga is a niche, heck any comic not aimed at kids is.While european editions may not include the dust cover, they're still usually a couple of dollars cheaper than their american counterparts.
>>154756594I'm still a poor student and I don't really have the space for a bunch of DVDs in my place right now. Besides, I want to learn Japanese before I buy DVDs because if I'm going to collect them, I'd rather have the original versions. I'm not quite at the point where I can watch anime without needing subtitles so that's a no go right now.I support my favorite shows by buying figures right now (when I have extra money.)
>>154756852This. I only do it for really great shows for this reason.
postan mango collection>tfw in poorly-lit corner>tfw blurry>tfw filename
Oh, right.Recently acquired Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer by combining shelf warmers at different local shops. Probably pictured next year.Waiting for Dragon Half so I can get around to reading it. Have had scanlations since forever but never get around to reading those.Currently reading Konosuba, the art's pretty charming.
>>154789819>some publisher keep the cover designs close to originalsWhen I said the cover I meant the material they use for the cover, no the design. >>154789850>It's mostly the american market being strange. Needing every cent to stay alive.I have all 9 volumes of Witch Craft Works licensed by Vertical, its my favorite manga but the actual quality of the books is so low considering they are priced at $13 before any discount. That series is a special case though, I don't know of any other licensed series where the quality was so low. Some people even said the ink would just rub off if they touched a page too hard. Worst part is I don't even think they are going to release volume 10
>>154790571>When I said the cover I meant the material they use for the cover, no the design.I'll give you that. From what I've seen of american releases, the shin and slightly plastified covers are pretty crap and the glue binding is begging to break. But hey, at least you get the extra-centimeter so you can open the book properly
>>154790571Vertical caught up at v8, then v9 got a ten-month delay. I suspect v10 shows up in the fall, or a year after Vertical gets to announce it for the US market after they get info of its JP release and can license it.I am not a publisher, I do not know how this works. I just stared through assorted question-answering blogs by US manga publishers.
>>154790970http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/NEOBK-2009917Volume 10 came out in November, that's why I assume Vertical isn't releasing it.

Not sure if this is on topic to this thread, but I'll ask.Have any of you burned fansubed anime onto blu rays or dvds before?I've never done anything like that before, so I'm not sure if it would be compatible with .mkv or not.My drive is getting a tad bit full, so it would be nice to clear some space up while also keeping my anime.I actually like having physical media, but some shows either will never get a local release or they get delayed for a long time, or are just impossible to find anywhere.
>>154756594Being poor and only watching an anime exactly once.
>>154783472>>154783615Also the haibane renmei box set guudo taste
>>154791459Better DVD/BD players can deal with actual files (even if you usually lose fancier typesetting and get limited on codecs). Otherwise you'd need to encode them.I suggest getting a new hard drive instead. Take backups of your other files while you're at it.
>>154789819>Éditions KamiGood thing they went under.Too bad they took ARIA with them.Ki-oon have been good so far. They also usually publish shit I like.
>>154791459I'm also interested in this. I tried once but it failed miserably
>>154791750>Ki-oon have been good so far. They also usually publish shit I like.Them and Kurokawa are a blessing, publishing loads of smaller series or one-shot at a loss thanks to tentpole titles. And the books are good in terms of quality.I'll never get over all the trouble they went through with Genshiken and all the money they didn't make with it.
>>154791747Would a ps4 count as a "better BD player"?
>>154792286Presumably.There may be video playback software you can install. I've never owned and hardly used any game console.
>>154763159Why is nise an 18, uncensored?
I want to get back into buying manga, but just the shorter series or hard cover omnibus stuff. With the way these prices are, I can't justify spending 11 bucks per volume, especially with spring all of these video games coming out
>>154784192/a/ newfag here. Where do you even buy posters for non-normalfag shows?
>>154792459Toothbrush scene I presume.http://bbfc.co.uk/releases/fate-kaleid-liner-prisma-illya-videoIt's okay when girls do it.
>>154792556Typically Mandarake or Amazon jp. Mandarake is used goods, though some stuff is unused, and Amazon is both. Thought with non-normalfag shows I usually have to check for used goods there too. With Mandarake I check once in a while to see if they have new merch that is of good condition. I bought my Aria Premium Poster Books here, and both were unopened. But the ones there now are B condition so I'm not sure about them. Basically just sit around until something good comes along.
>>154792570That scene is pretty unsafe for kids I guess.
>>154791496i got no fuckin job man
>>154756594Just like collecting physical copies of games, I only collect BDs of series that I love.
>>154791459I back up my folders once they get bd releases, but I'm absolutely autistic about it. Best quality, with OSTs, clean op/ed, and any ova or specials. Normally this is fine since I burn them as data discs, rather than finished dvds, but sometimes a single series takes up a lot of discs. My Cross Ange collection is 10 dvds, not exactly a space-saver.
>>154794060I have a DB drive, so a few BD would probably be able to hold a whole series.
>>154794204Probably. Keep an eye out for going out of business sales with tech shops. When Radio Shack went under I got 3k+ dvds for under $50

>>154773236I think you and I would get along.
>>154794322 Oh and by "spend the same amount" I mean buy so much used manga for $2-3 a volume that I've gone through a few hundred volumes and keep cycling through buying and reselling them.
>>154781964Infinitely jelly of that TTGL Box. What I wouldn't give to have that thing. Is it subbed?

>>154794462Series and Movies are Subbed, Series includes the Dub as well.
I use to buy DVDs. This was back when internet speed was shit, and to get something that wasn't in .rm format was a bit hard. Eventually I just downloaded shit as the quality and internet speed got better. I haven't bought animu dvd for over a decade now.I really do regret not being able to buy this when it was still available though. I bought the others but only one of the box sets were out of stock. I waited for it to come back in stock, but it never did. I'm surprised the price hasn't depreciated that much. The cheapest I've seen it for sale is 60ish, while MSRP was 80 bucks 15 years ago.

>>154756594I collect Blu-rays exclusively now, unless it's some exceptional thing where dvd is the only thing available and no higher definition version exists or is likely to show up.I do it because I don't trust streaming to keep things I want available and prefer to own things rather than having glorified rentals, and I don't trust my own archiving of rips to survive some kind of unexpected server failure or accident. My buying is a bit down on what it once was because I'm pickier and don't spend money on things to try them out, I just buy what I know is good. But I'll buy Japanese priced versions of the good things if I need to.

Favorite licensing company for anime/manga? For anime, mine's either Discotek or Nozomi Entertainment.
>>154803381I buy most manga at Bookdepository.I used to buy DVDs at Axelmusic, which worked much like Bookdepository in having flattened shipping prices and pretty much everything to choose from. They also sent the same padded envelopes from probably the same US warehouses. They were too good for this world and filed for bankruptcy. If you live in the USA I think Rightstuf would be the best in most cases, Amazon when they dish out the right deals and Bookdepository as a fallback.
>>154805262Yeah, think I'll remove what's behind the front row for a while to lighten things up.
>>154756594I don't have a TV or disc reader, so it seems like a bit of a waste. I bought an irresponsible amount of Japanese manga and doujinshi when I lived there though, so I feel like if there was some cosmic debt owed for years of free torrenting, I have paid it in full.
Also my only regret is to not have gotten Utawarerumono S1 (and FMP:F too, actually) in physical form back then.S2 was too shit for me to fork the money over, though.Maybe the only series I'd pay a bit for.
>>154806858For manga its kind of hard to say which is the best since it usually varies from series to series.I'd probably say Vertical or Viz just from those i've read though
Eh, I subscribed to CR for a few years. Bought a few series, but never re-watch them, so why buy more?I usually just checkout the manga from the library or buy the video game versions
>>154809416I dunno, I like looking at my library and think back to the series I've already completed. "Man, that was good shit."It just feels satisfying and sometimes a little nostalgic too.

>>154756594Pretty much the only thing I don't buy are BD/DVDs. I own a lot of doujinshi, artbooks, magazines and figures. It's a combination of the fact that they're exorbitantly priced and the fact that the value I'm getting out of them amounts to not much at all, considering all the contents (bar the box and the disc) are, or will be uploaded to some torrenting site.
nah i just pirate it because of fps and anti consumer bullshit and stuff
>>154756594Even if I buy from any of the retailers near me, none of the money I spend will go back to the Studios.
I would say these are the only anime DVDs I have, but I just remembered I forgot to add Spirited Away to this.
They're too expensive. I live in Japan and the prices here for a fucking Blu-ray is insane and you don't even get most of the show, you get like 3-4 episodes. I can't believe the prices otaku are willing to pay for this shit. A box set in America for $50 is a steal in comparison and I still think that's expensive as fuck. A box set in Japan, you're lucky if it's $100, it's usually like $200+ from what I've seen. That's insane. Guys who pay 6000 yen for a third or fourth of the episodes, what the fuck? I get it's your hobby but at some point you gotta realize you're being played. If I go buy an American show in Japan, I can get the whole fucking season for about 3000 yen give or take. They are so fucking greedy with the anime.
>>154811155Oh and here's my manga.
>>154810558Are we doing this now? This here is 2.71 TB. I also used to have a separate 2 TB drive that was full of watched anime, and another 2 TB drive holding my backlog, but both of those drives died.
>>154811156The anime industry really is weird. It's basically entirely supported by a few whales ready to pay out the ass for the thing they're obsessed with (waifu/husbando, VA, director, animator, studio...).I very, very rarely buy anime BDs for series I love because they're so damn expensive, and there's no way I'm buying localized editions.

Anime is overpriced for what you get.Even the figures are overpriced honestly but having a very high quality statue in my room has value to me personally. The most I paid for a figure was about $300 and it was a very large high quality figure but I felt slightly cheated even if I was overall happy with the product.

>>154811891>And see, I've literally never understood the appeal of male figuresWhy would you not want to own your favorite character from your favorite series? I'd kill for a Spike Spiegel or a Vash the Stampede. Having girl figures is just sissy looking.
>>154811520Honestly, I am exactly the opposite. What point would I have for owning a figure? I'm not going to use it for anything. It's just going to sit on my shelf, and the reference will be lost on anyone who hasn't seen the anime.I'd much rather have a nice looking boxed set on my shelf if I care that much. It is about as impressive with a limited edition or something, plus it can actually be used to watch said anime if someone is curious.I mean, I'm not against owning figures, just that I would find it incredibly strange to pass up on a DVD collection of an anime (or anything similar) in order to own a figure of a character from the anime instead.
>>154811964This.These figs you can put on display and have them be appreciated by everyone, regardless of the gender of either the fig or person looking at it.
If I like it enough to own it and I think it's a decent release. Being an EOP makes the second a lot harder for me, but not impossible. I recently bought that Nichijou release and the new Ghost in the Shell Steelbook.

And if you play on a PC, Linux will completely ignore the region bits on the disc and the drive unless you explicitly tell it to care.
>>154819960The guy your responded to here, yeah the BE spines are slightly up or down and that does bother me. But also the actual manga themselves sometimes run a bit taller and a bit shorter than others. It's weird. I do have the slip cover for steins;gate but I took it off and placed it elsewhere where it can't be damaged because taking it off and on a ton can end up damaging it. I never bothered doing that with my attack on titan releases though. Also I don't think there has ever been a dust jacket for standard manga releases (from shonen jump and such) so I'm not sure what you're on about.
Only Anime related stuff I own, just because it is a masterpiece IMO.

>>154758989This. I got into anime over the last six months. I wanted to buy some of the series I've watched and figured that it worked just like it does with western TV shows. Either full seasons or full series in one set. And don't even get me started on shit being out of print. The used movie store in town wants $120 for the NGE box set, and it's just the discs. Doesn't even include the packaging.
