I had no problems with Kaguya, it was a nice touch of the world building and unnecessary lore that adds more to the world and makes it more real. It's that she shouldn't have appeared in flesh. As an artistic creative person with understanding of how narrative world Koshkmot clearly is, he wouldn't add Kaguya as the final villain on his own, without the need to make a hook for Boruto. And I think Shueisha was interested in Boruto way more than Kishimoto. He was set for life, but they needed more money.

Great is subjective term. Madara's is a fascinating character because unlike other Uchiha characters fucking shit up out of sad obstacles he did it intentionally even though he had everything: peace, dream achieved, respect even. Dude had it all but felt he can't live like that untill he is only second to Hashirama. And he fought to his death. He is the only Uchiha who's motivation came from within himself and this is fascinating because it was to see him trying to do everything to prove himself the very best even though his benchmark has already died. He is one of the best shonen villain 100%, just on his tenacity alone, but on top of that was really grim and almost shakespearean backstory, cool path to villainy and villainy overall, sheer charisma and badassness and it's funny combination with pathetic inferior complex before single man. He isn't one dimensional, he has different sides, and all of them are entertaining to see. So in conclusion can I call him the great character in a genre focused on fights, badassness, and at least a little bit of an average writing? Yes, I think so.
