But considering that his latest "goblin" quest includes him and his partner killing an evil necromancer and destroying said necromancer's creations, it wouldn't be out of the ordinary if he kills enough regular stuff along the way to qualify for the upper ranks. Beyond that, they promote partially based on results, and Goblin Slayer does stack up results. He's not six months into his career and he's already saved at least two villages. By the time bards are literally singing his praises he'll probably have saved at least a couple dozens villages. That's the sort of thing you want to make sure gets rewarded.

In any case, as things stand, the adaption of volume 12 wraps up this month, and the next 2-3 issues of Year One manga should wrap up this story arc which became Year One LN 4. So it's basically going to be new year, new story arcs for both the main series and Year One(assuming the spin off continues).
