The manga doesn't differentiate itself all that much in it's "apocalyptic, invaders take over humanity" premise that has been done time and time before. The egg is the main thing that separates it from other manga. Still, the manga just feels too unappealing for an audience to catch on. I just can't see the combination of a talking egg and a grim apocalyptic world meshing well with viewers, especially with an artstyle that's muddy and not the most attractive to look at when Jump readers typically prefer something more flashy.

I think the reason why Sword Saint's reveal was a bit disappointing is that Kagurabachi lacks enforcer/overlord/bruiser type of the villain or a character overall. Who also is serious, without emotional swings like Samura, but also competent, uber strong and non bullshitter. Who gives the Seniority sense. The closest thing to it is Hatshaku, hence why everyone and their mom generally call him the best Hishaku.But usually Hokazono does quirky, freaky or mischievous fucks. And those types are in abundance to the point they all feel the same. I'm getting tired of Sojo, Hokuto, Kuguri, Hiruhito, Bingo and other sychos.There was a chance that Kensei will fill the niche but here we go again - dude is upbeat and casual rusty guy. T-thanks, Hokazono, you really could have left that type for Subaru or stop at Uruha. It looks like he is only able to make a couple of villain types and that's sad.
