>Worldbuilding?
One Piece mogs Dragon Ball. Oda is one of the few mangaka with the brain cells to research inspirations for his worldbuilding and create a definitive ending for his series before a beginning. Dragon Ball's worldbuilding is vague at best and contradictory at work. It's very Toei had to invent background details, power systems, and geography to flesh out an otherwise empty world.
>Characters?
One Piece characters actually undergoes growth, because a good adventure story lives and dies by its characters where the journey itself is a transformative experience but the characters are just too one-dimensional and static to have anything interesting going on. Goku's character mostly remains the same throughout the course and while him going SSJ on Namek is one of the story's highlights, it's less about the emotional impact of Krillin dying and more about Goku leveling up. Meanwhile after Ace died, Luffy had a mental breakdown and even considered quitting being a pirate because he felt like he lost everything important to him. But Jinbe reminded him what he still had leading to one of One Piece's most powerful moments in the story ("I have my crew!!"). Bulma also doesn't change much, she just becomes less slutty once she gets dicked by the man who killed her ex-boyfriend (which by itself makes her look pretty scummy) but she doesn't have a single emotional moment that can redeem the shittiness of her character the way Oda did with Nami and her iconic "Help me" moment.
>Romance?
Oda doesn't like to write romantic relationships and he said shounen is not suitable for romance but as he got older, he started to incorporate it in Sanji/Pudding's story and he did a really good job at it. But between crewmates, I think he really doesn't like it. Toriyama just pairs characters together like a kid who plays action figures which leads to cringe ships like Trunks/Mai.

The combination of Trunks and Mai is so random and off-putting that it's actually the most compelling part of the Zamasu and School arcs. It's not just a ship but a bizarre dynamic. The things it implies about Mainland Bulma are funny
