Later, the Eastern Empire wipes out Tempest because Tempest is too weak. 3. Rimuru falls into Hinata's ambush but manages to escape, however because the vanguard attack still happens, Rimuru ends up becoming a demon lord. This is the main storyline we are following. So as we can see there is a certain necessary balance to be had. Too little and too much pressure both lead to a "bad end". Fortunately Rimuru being carried too much by Raphael also motivates Rimuru not to be left behind.
