"Falling"
The new series from Ryo Minenami, author of Boy's Abyss. Last chapter ended with a hint towards the sensei-like Mayu's troubled past. What will we find out today?

End.

Well, we found more out about Mayu. Not a full backstory, but I imagine you can put together some of the hints.
How do you think her encounter with Taiki / Leafbro will go? Will he clarify that he isn't, in fact, molesting Miko, or are we gonna see a double subversion where he actually does turn out to be a psych killer and kills Mayu?

Last panel, and Mayu being obviously drawn in a more comical way hints at Taiki dissipating all her projected concerns lmao.
Mikoma's winning another ally. Now we have to see how will Momiji react.
Inb4 she'll send hee femsimp (Makita) to torture him again, but maybe Mikoma will tell her to fuck off and make her curious about what makes Miko be so drawn to the mpuntain.

She was naive back then in Tokyo and is thinking Mikoma is making the same mistake.
It's mere projection born out of concern. Once she finds out 1) Ebihara isn't a shady dude, just a victim of a betrayal and his own cursed biology and 2) he is being a positive influence for Mikoma, she'll loosen up...

>Five consecutive weeks
>Knowing this will give you insight into the "thinking" of a serialized manga artist!!
>Learn the basics of manga from Ryo Minenami!!

A special interview with Ryo Minenami, author of "Sangeki" and "Shounen no Abyss"!! We delve into the important points at each stage of the journey from winning a newcomer award to serialization, with the experienced Minenami-sensei!!

>How to create a manga that leaves a lasting impression on the reader…!?
~For those aiming for a newcomer award~

>First, aim to win a newcomer award and get an editor assigned to you!! In the first week, we'll teach you the key points for creating works that will leave a lasting impression on readers!!

>—Could you tell us what common points there are in works that you find particularly memorable?

R: First of all, I believe that in every manga published, there's always something memorable about it. Rather than being intentionally created, I think it's the unconscious habits and passions that emanate from the author that leave a lasting impression.

Therefore, I think it's important to be sensitive and aware of what you like.

>—How should one be mindful of being sensitive and aware of what they like?

R: It's difficult. These days, some things are done through technique and ingrained habits. Even if you tell someone to imitate that, I don't think they can do it immediately. That's why I think it's important to develop those habits when you're young.

>—Minenami-sensei herself consciously do this when she was younger?

R: Or rather, I just enjoyed that kind of thing...and as a result, I think I was able to become a writer. Because I enjoyed that kind of thing, I naturally wanted to create works of art.

>>289230568
>—How can you grab the reader's attention right from the start?

R: I'm not entirely sure. All I can do is draw what I believe is the most interesting and appealing.

Page flips and double-page spreads are definitely great for making an impression, so I hope you'll be mindful of using them effectively.

>—How do you design characters that have a strong presence even with limited screen time?

R: There's a reason why that character was created. I approach each character with the belief that they harbor something incredible deep within...and I hope that as a result, glimpses of that are already visible in the character.

>(Picrel: *In the first episode of "Sangeki," a mysterious man appears, hiding his face with leaves and building a mountain cabin by himself. His appearance is memorable from his first appearance, but the reason for this will be revealed as the story progresses!!)

>—Could you share some tips for creating memorable lines?

R: The key is to make creating dialogue a habit. From a young age, read movies, novels, and manga, and digest any lines that resonate with you, becoming aware of why they moved you.

When I was a teenager, I used to copy them down in notebooks. I also copied down cool lines that suddenly came to mind.

>—Does that lead to becoming aware of what you like?

R: That's right. When you have a lot of books on your bookshelf, it becomes difficult to remember whose lines are in which books. So, for example, if it was Yukio Mishima, I made a notebook dedicated to him, and if I thought, "This sentence is cool," I would write it down there. I also used sticky notes in novels, for example, to mark phrases I liked.

I think that ultimately improved my sensitivity to creating dialogue. I started to understand what I found cool and what moved me.

That, in turn, led to a desire to create such things, and naturally, good lines would suddenly pop into my head when I was daydreaming. I made that a regular thing.

>>
>>289230673
>—Do you still take notes?

R: I don't do that at all. I can't remember. I think that ability is probably only possible when your brain is young. Nowadays, I sometimes can't even remember the content of a movie I just saw... (laughs).

But on the other hand, when I do remember a scene, I reflect on why I remember it. I wonder why it made such an impression on me.

>—What do you keep in mind to make readers want to continue reading?

R: There are two things I focus on. First, I make sure to create a good cliffhanger on the last page. While weekly cliffhangers are important, I also make sure the cliffhanger at the end of each volume is particularly impactful; that's the only part I consciously plan. This makes readers want to read the next chapter, and ultimately encourages them to continue buying the volumes, so it's very important.

The other thing is ensuring that the characters' personalities and thoughts don't stagnate from their initial profiles. I encourage them to grow, for better or for worse, as the story progresses. A stagnant character can make readers feel like they've had enough, while a growing character makes them want to see where they ultimately end up.

>A special interview with Ryo Minenami, author of "Sangeki" and "Shounen no Abyss"!! We delve into the important points at each stage of the journey from winning a newcomer award to serialization, with the experienced Minenami-sensei!!

>To pursue realism in manga…!?
~For those aiming for a newcomer award~

>First, aim to win a newcomer award and get an editor assigned to you!! In the second week, we'll teach you the key points for pursuing realism in seinen manga!!

>—What do you keep in mind to make your characters feel realistic?

R: I treat the characters as if they were real people. It feels less like a work I created and more like I'm catching a glimpse into someone's life. I personally enjoy creating in this way, so perhaps that's what contributes to the realism.

I find it easier to create characters by observing the people I've met and imagined what hidden sides they might have, or what playful aspects they might possess.

(1/?)
>>
File: img_02_01.jpg (430 KB, 1440x972)
430 KB JPG
>>289230825
>—Are there any specific things you keep in mind when it comes to dialogue delivery in order to make the characters' emotions and actions appear natural?

R: I create the dialogue as if the characters were real people, so I think about things like, "If this person were told this by that person, they would react like this," or "They might be thinking this internally, but they would respond like this..." I feel that by imagining and enjoying the process of drawing, I'm able to create lively dialogue.

However, I have the constraint of condensing all of this into an 18-page manuscript each week, so I have to select and discard information such as dialogue, reactions, and inner monologues to avoid a rambling impression and to adjust the flow so that readers will be surprised towards the end. I'm constantly mindful of both the realism of the characters and the reality of the 18-page manuscript. I think it's important to be able to objectively judge what I'm creating.

>(Picrel: *The realistic conversation between the protagonist and heroine in episode 2 of "Sangeki" enhances the depth of the characters' personalities!!)

>—Please tell us how to make the "character" of a character believable, such as "This is what this character would do."

R: I believe what's important isn't the pose or technique at that particular moment, but the accumulation of those actions. By carefully and naturally imprinting the character's unique subtle actions and words on the reader's mind, and then having them act in a way that's true to that character, it won't feel unnatural, and readers will think, "That's something this character would do."

By properly conveying that character's essence, and then having that character do something unexpected without contradiction, you might be able to keep readers entertained and prevent them from feeling that the plot is predictable.

(2/?)
>>
>>289230893
>—What are the essential elements for a character that readers can easily empathize with and relate to?

R: The key is to avoid creating ideal characters. If you solidify a character based on your wishful thinking about the kind of person you want to see, they cease to be human (of course, depending on the style of the work, such characters are acceptable, and readers may even enjoy them).

Relatable characters reveal the realistic weaknesses, vulnerabilities, resilience, or even the gentle side they show when they have the time and energy—parts of ourselves that are close to us, without any shame. When these relatable characters unexpectedly do something we could never do, readers are deeply moved and feel a sense of affirmation for their empathy for that character.

>—What do you keep in mind to avoid making the story seem unbelievable?

This is a feeling I've gradually come to understand: it's about believing in the characters' sense of existence. In the past, I created characters for the sake of the story, but I realized that's difficult with weekly serialization. In weekly serialization, the characters' actions are paramount. When the author starts to follow the characters, drawing becomes much easier. That's where miracles happen.

>I really want to get to the crux of whatever beef (if any) Momiji has with Miko
Inb4 it's gender wars.
Momiji hates people who feel too self important and would rather want weak and submissive humble dudes.
The hint is in how Momiji is the one who uses the necktie, while Roka uses the more effeminate bow. Momiji wants to be the queen, the dominant one, and Mikoma being a traditionalistic boy who wants to carry le manly otoko no puraido may push her buttons in a certain way.

In tl;dr... Momiji's a foid and must know her place. Roka's a weak dude that must stand for his own ideals and beliefs, if he has any, other than protecting Miko from dealing with a foid who thinks she's the hottest shit in the village.

I would feel shocked, honestly. It seems highly uncharacteristic given her narcissism and abject lack of empathy, considering she suggested he kill himself and he made the attempt.

Realistically, the only way I see her reconnecting with Taiki would be because her daughter may miss him. Or worse, she'd use her child as a pawn to fuck with him even more.

But apologizing out the box, unprompted? Not seeing it. Her self absorbed nature was far too palpable for any type of humility.

But IF that were the case, it could insinuate Miko and Momiji's relationship is not entirely destined for part or mutually assured destruction.

Disagree, if she's a true narcissist she'll come back if she needs something only from him and believes he's stupid enough to listen to her. To stay away after his suicide attempt means she has a sense of shame, no further need for him, or some degree of empathy.

Readers usually made fun of Macron's wife comparing her with Sensei due to the age gap marriage (she's the oldest).

it's the wife who is dead and the ghost of the mountain.
>>
Seems like the theme is "Victims" finding their way to the mountain and reform. Which isn't really a reform in this case because Taiki is not over what his ex did, Miko stopped being a friend to Momiji, and surely Mayu will follow by having a false sense of growth. I guess, people can only stew around in self pity and misery for so long before they get horny and fuck anything they want. It's too soon to say how these characters are going to make mistakes. I have a lot of high hopes from Momiji and Makita.
>>
Inb4 Momiji has a picrel style breakdown at Mikoma after Roka finally stands his ground and chooses to side with his friend (all because he also met Taiki and co siders him a nice dude), and that makes Mikoma's (negative) development go into the trash.
>>
>>289229768
The wife is coming back to finish the job
>>289229254
This asshole will try to do something nasty and Miko is going to kill him, Taiki will probably take the blame to save Miko
>>
>>289234071
>Miko is going to kill him, Taiki will probably take the blame to save Miko
Momiji finds out and deems Miko as the enemy of the town.
>>
Mayu is more protective of Miko than his own mother. Why?
>>
>>289234226
He is sexy

This guy is married.
The boyfriend of the girl friend is someone else.

You'll get them soon with either Kazama-Mayu blackmail sex or Mikoma-Momiji hatesex. We're still in the set up phase as this work does not start off as overtly horny like her previous works.
>>
>>289234838
The way I understood this page >>289229396 Yuya is the boyfriend of Mayu's friend on the phone.
Mayu told her friend who told her boyfriend who told his buddies and that's how the creep knew.
But maybe I'm wrong.
>>
I kinda wanted to go to Japan Expo to see what Ryo looks like but not in this heatwave. She's refusing photos and physical contact, too. The latter is probably a good thing for her because those guys are going to be sweaty.
>>
raws doko

>Mayu told her friend who told her boyfriend who told his buddies and that's how the creep knew.
That's how I understood it as well since that's how small town gossip grapevines works, but looking at the raws should clear up confusion for good.

>>289229706
>hey want to hear a really embarrassing story about my marriage
>maybe it’ll motivate you to murder cunts in your community

Yuuya is a male name.
>>
>>289240982
All because she failed in tokyo on her own terms and fears Mikoma will do the same...

Like it or not, he's better off with Taiki than having to put up with his shit parents, the evil foid of a friend he used to simp and a mentally retarded grenlin who escaped from the psychiatrist.
>>
>>289235431
This is correct. Girlfriend (Mayu's friend) told Yuya (unpictured) because they don't keep secrets. Yuya then blabbed to his mates and they all had a good giggle about some other person's misfortune. Kazuma, one of the middle school groupies then shows up in front of Mayu, probably wanting to get in her pants given his skeevy behavior towards Momiji and history of infidelity.

The power of mental illness.
>>
>>289240982
Either Taiki is a psycho, Miko kills Kazuma or the town do some shit to Taiki and Miko
>>
>>289234226
Probably knows him since he was little and sees him as a little brother/cousin, she also feels that Taiki is taking advantage of him, like some dude did to her in Tokyo
>>
>>289242741
>Probably knows him since he was little and sees him as a little brother/cousin
Given Mayu couldn't fight Mikoma back, the little bro/cousin thing will end up dying soon.
Soon it will be Mikoma vs the town.
