Tons of stories have a hypnotist who just seems like they're doing their job and a subject who isn't excited about it either. Make someone excited about it and your audience will identify with that character because they're excited about it.All the time wasting filler ass "supporting character development" in the world can't match a character letting their eyes start to roll back into their sockets a little too early and having the hypnotist comment happily about it. That tells me all I need to know about the characters to enjoy that sort of story.

I don't know if I'm the weird one, hypno thread, but while I can definitely see the appeal in the regular hypnosis fetish where the person gets lulled into losing all their willpower, I don't really have much of an interest in what's apparently considered the end goal of a lot of hypno fiction, the totally empty headed zombie slave girl army.What I find much hotter is hypnotic suggestions and associations slowly colonising someone's mind and pushing them to make choices they normally wouldn't until they're a totally different person, and they never even realize it was an outside force that did it.The gradual descent into the 'desired' outcome and the fact that there's so many chances to stop it, if only they knew they were being manipulated, is the space where the eroticism works for me. For example, for me it's about the gradual process. I like it when the hypnotist has to use a bit of effort, carefully maintaining eye contact and constantly speaking softly to their victim in order to draw them deeper and deeper into their trance. Bonus points for plenty of physical contact, forcing the victim to look into the hypnotist's eyes, or the hypnotist wording themselves in a way that makes the hypnosis sound like something the victim would want. So for me, a good hypnosis story focuses on the hypnotist as much as (if not more than) the victim, the mushroom girl comic upthread being a good example. For you it might be something completely different.
