Biggest mistakes I keep seeing ppl make are 1. using a bunch of negatives, SDXL doesn't need all the negs that 1.5 does, using a too high cfg, sdxl uses a much lower cfg (usually), and 3. using too small resolutions. Most SDXL stuff is trained at 1024 or higher, if you are trying to output a 512 image, its gonna look suck. I've made a custom model and a few loras, and the compositions and hit rate is so much better than 1.5. Hands and feet are pretty good, many times I don't even need to touch them up at all, and much, much, much less extra limbs/people.

>>7709794SDXL is a new base model trained on 1024*1024 images to improve detail, clarity, and composition. 1.5 was trained on 512*512 images. So smaller details get lost in the training. All the models you can download are just "finetunes" of the original base model. SDXL has a much better base so it learn much more detail. But they crippled it, and censored a lot of the nude training data, and removed many of the artist names from the data. So now you can't just say "greg r" you have to be like, a watercolor painting of a smudgy fantasy landscape. And we had to finetune it for better nudes. We've mostly done that -- there are quite a few different type of models that add nudity back (some better than others). The major sticking points are 1. There are some really bad models out there that pushed out fast and so they have high download rankings, but aren't good (1st mover advantage). 2. People pushing out shitty "ported" loras using their 512*512 datasets, or just upscaling them, leading to shitty SDXL loras. 3. 1.5 is "good enough" for most people, and they don't want to do the work for upgrading. and 4. SDXL uses high resolutions (again, it *can* create lower res images, but it sucks at it, so...), thus requires better hardware. There is a financial incentive for the services to keep using 1.5, and most consumers don't have to tech to do it locally at the same speeds as 1.5.
