Have you ever had phony friends?

How did you handle with that? How long did you take it to realize that they weren't your real friends?
>>
Everyone I have ever been friends with were phony
>>

I've only ever had 2 people that aren't phony. I only meet with them once every few years though :(

Don't take things too seriously, you don't have to form an extremely deep bond with everyone, you're just there to talk stupid shit that makes you laugh most of the time.

It is through knowing many phony friends that you meet friends that aren't phony.

>fake friends
all of them
>how did you handle that?
i didnt
>how long did it take you to realize?
not long, mostly when they kept flaking about visiting though

>>32372089
yeah
>>32372105
i've yet to meet them then, guess they'll have to find me this time
>>
>>32372087
cut them off and move on
>>

>you're just there to talk stupid shit that makes you laugh most of the time.
this is how you waste your own time and accomplish nothing. time is a precious resource, wasting for people who wouldnt piss on you if you were on fire is foolish

>Have you ever had phony friends?
Yea
>How did you handle with that?
I still kept being with friends with them, believing they could change.
>How long did you take it to realize that they weren't your real friends?
After I found they talked shit and were petty and unstable

The last time I've seen someone used the word "phony" is while reading The Catcher in the Rye

A fair-weather friend is someone who is only supportive and present during good times, but disappears when things get tough1234.

One of my favorites book.

>Have you ever had phony friends?
I think everyone does, but it's mainly because people don't know how to differentiate friends from acquaintances.
Friend = close relationship bordering on family
Acquaintance = someone you hang out with from time to time, or for one activity/sport or just to shoot the shit.
90% of the people you meet are acquaintances, it's on you to tell them apart and treat them as such.
Only time and experiences together can tell them apart.
>How did you handle with that?
Just filed them in the acquaintance cabinet and readjusted my expectations.

Depends. For me laughing and talking stupid shit isn't a waste of time. But then again I'm past my "dudemaxbro" phase and I'm in the "enjoy life" phase.
>>
I don't think so. I don't go out of my way to meet people and the few friends I have actively try to maintain our friendship, because I don't do it (and that's something I should change, I know).
>>
>>32374960
And then you question yourself on why you don't have non-phony friends
>>
>>32374956
this. don't feel like explaining yourself, just move on and don't look back. it makes you grow a spine if you already didn't have one
>>

I guess it became apparent when I'm the only one contacting him after weeks or months and then when we do get together I'm also usually the one putting the effort in to keep us talking and doing something
The last time we finally got together to play some vidya after a long period he just gave up, ghosted, and went to voice chat with his other buddies literally straight after he closed the game lol
>>
>>32372087
yes. in highschool, i saw they'd be partying and hanging out on snapchat without a word to me. So I just stopped hanging around them. No malice, still like them guys.
Later, one guy started 'dating' a girl i'd been 'dating' and then he tried to say he had no idea we were a thing. I'm still friends with him, because of mutuals, but I feel total apathy to him, which I've heard is worse than hate. I just don't care about him at all anymore.
>>
>>32372087
the best part about this is that it's so easy to just completely drop friends. they aren't even your blood related family they are literally just some guy. I simply stop hanging around people that are always shit talking their other friends and seem like they can't be trusted.

You're not really alive. It's weird that some people pretend that you are
>>
It would be more accurate to say I've never had a true friend.
>>
>>32381383
it becomes more difficult when you have to see them due to work or university
>>
>>32381434
I've been knowing this. Thats what happens when u play games n smoke weed every day for years. Or really just living a life of sin, of which the payment is death.
But I've also slowly but surely started to return to life. New job, new friends, old friends, getting out of the house, getting active, being grateful for every day.
>>
>>32372087
>Real friends
Relying on other people is gay, anon.
>>
>>32374956
Terrible advice. Use them for entertainment and resources, and making connections towards people who aren't garbage.

Is there something you said?

People are phony in general. It's how comfortable you are with the phoniness is how well you will fare with it. It comes in different flavors and if you are genuine out of a difficulty or inability to integrate with a the phoniness of a group of people, they may try to disengage with you or even tear you down and devalue you.

A lot of people are raised in atmospheres at home and even through high school and college, where people are generally accepted as-is and it can be something that will jar you when you encounter people who are invariably used to, comfortable with, even charmed with being phony in a certain way.

They may appear shallow, selfish, jaded, melodramatic, bombastic. They still have genuine sides and they may be living a different experience from you. They're mostly still human. You can find an atmosphere that's natural for you, OP.
