You can't listen to music or watch TV or play video games without politics being ascribed to you. Everyone has to choose a team and each team has a set of approved media/words/thoughts that allow little to no deviation. The category of what is political has been expanded so much is means absolutely everything. What restaurants you eat at now is "politics" so trying to separate who you are as a person from politics, at least in the U.S., is impossible. Secondly, "political views" are closely tied to our axioms - our core ethics as conscious beings. Political policy is downstream of ethics so calling deep, meaningful moral conflict as "just politics" is kind of a cheap way of dismissing something that's fundamental to how we view the world and believe other people should be treated. Lastly, people SHOULD understand what their ethical boundaries are before getting into a relationship. Its typically not something that gets litigated over the course of many years. Either you're morally compatible with someone or you arent.
