I'm really disillusioned my major/career path, but I don't know what else to do. Didn't want to go to college at all because I knew I'd hate it (surprise surprise, I do) because I hate school. I went anyway because I had a decent scholarship and I didn't know what else to do. I don't have any goals, interests, or ambition.>you have time to figure it outWell, I'm halfway done with this degree. I'll blink and it'll be over, but I'll still be in the same boat I am now. No direction, no calling. I have prayed to find one, but there's no place for me.I don't know what to do. I don't really want to do anything. I know that's not normal. It seems like there's nothing for me here. How do I find purpose?
>>33923443Look into the military. No, you don't have to die for Israel, you get to pick your branch and job (If you score high enough on the standardized intelligence test). You can literally work an office job on the coast somewhere if that's what you want. You don't pay rent, your food is paid for, depending on your state you don't pay state taxes, nearly all of your paycheck is just for you. It really is a get out of jail free card for young people that is overlooked because they're uninformed. The college credits you have will let you enlist at a higher rank in some branches (E-3, compared to most people enlisting at E-1, it would usually take 1-2 years to get to E-3 from E-1.I'm a lot like you, really. I had no purpose after high school but skipped college entirely and decided to enlist. Now I work on a flightline maintaining f-18s and troubleshooting them at fucking 19 years old. Its awesome. Gave me tons of purpose. If you have any questions just ask.
>>33923496Not OP, just a very lost nigga here. IQ around 120. 36yo. Most of a college degree done. "Medical" withdrawal for le mental health, which I hope doesn't fuck me. Could I join the Navy? Wouldn't I be shoulder to shoulder with 90IQ 18yos being yelled at?
>>33923443Well, tell us a bit about yourself then. What hobbies do you have? What do you not like to do? (Besides school, even though you're pulling through)
>>33923506>36yoWhat the hell have you been doing until now that you still don't know what your purpose is?
>>33923506>"Medical" withdrawalWhat is that? Like you previously got kicked out?>Could I join the Navy?Solid maybe, they have the most lenient medical waivers. It really depends on just how long ago your mental health stuff was. If you do get through, do not sign in the nuclear field just because you're smart. Besides the job and training itself being actual hell, you will suddenly become way less smart and have to try way harder to keep up just because everyone around you will now be smart as well.Don't go for a completely brainless job, but If you pick something halfway, you'll be ahead of 99% of your peers.>Wouldn't I be shoulder to shoulder with 90IQ 18yos being yelled at?Only in boot camp. The divisions are around 100 people, the oldest in mine was 39, few others in their 30's, a good 2/3 in the their mid 20's, rest were fresh or a few years out of high school. In my work center though, there's only a few people my age, most are late 20's and up.
