I don't have a problem with since I'm the one that owns them. It's the women that have a problem with it for some reason. Also, all 9 are inside dogs.

My other interests are too hard to explain in casual conversation (Amateur Anthropology, Linguistics, Local AI Models, World and Lore building, Game design, Future concepts) I like things that explore possibility and conceptual stuff. But the only women who like such things are likely gainfully employed and have no immediate need to start dating a 35 year old.
Anime is pretty much the only interest other than games with a tangible form that i can "show" to someone.

To elaborate: Western Anime conventions are shit.
They only deal in main stream "safe" anime that doesn't conflict, challenge, or undermine the current zeitgeist so as to bring in the widest audience.
It isn't for the people like me who watched FLCL and Samurai Champloo as a teen and had to scour the internet for DBZ episodes in Japanese because the English dub was so far behind.
I have zero interest in the dub actors who had nothing to do with the creation of the anime they "star" in.
The only "convention" I would consider going to would be Comiket in Japan, but even that is being ruined by foreign anime "fans" who try to stifle the creativity of the artists in attendance by literally moralfagging: "you shouldn't be allowed to draw stuff like this" or "Your character is trans, not just a cross-dresser", as if they have the right to tell an artist what to think.
It gives me second hand shame to admit they're from my country.
