I applied for a position as a software engineer recently, made it past the technical interview a few days ago, and I have been waiting for the "cultural fit" interview next week. However, today I got an email from my HR contact asking if I was available to start the training period next Monday, completely skipping the last step of the interview. However, even though they just offered me the position, they changed some things. The biggest problem is that originally, the training was supposed to start in December, after I had finished my grad classes for this semester, but now it's starting next week, and it's past the drop date for my courses. The other issue is that originally I was able to stay where I already am, but now I'll have to move to a city 4 hours away once the training period is up. This is a really sudden change, and I'm not sure if the offer is worth it. To me it doesn't feel like a good sign for the future that this company changes plans so suddenly and drastically, especially since it's a contract position and I'd be stuck with them for the next 2 years.

I don't know what to do here. It took so long to finally get a job offer, but now that I have one, it feels really uncertain. I'm hoping to get a phone call from a guy at another company (one that I'd rather work for than these guys), that has seen my resume and said he's interested in talking to me and introducing me to his team, but I still haven't heard from him yet. Maybe I can use this offer as leverage to make the other company be more eager to take me on now that they know I could be off the market soon?

I have one week to accept or decline, any advice?
