Went to a consultation and they told me I had some moderate overjet but have malocclusion, where my bite is misaligned. The problem is, correcting the bite is moving my lower jack back behind the position it currently is, and it results in a recessed jaw look aesthetically. Right now, the way I close my mouth and teeth, I don't bite down to where my natural position is and I've gotten used to this by default, so everything would change.

How do I address this? I don't want to pay $$$ for braces and then pay even more $$$$ for a jaw surgery on top of it, for a problem created by the braces.

Just leave it. Most people have misaligned teeth.
Why do you care so much about it anyway?

I don't know, honestly. The orthodontist made it seem like fixing it is extremely important and that it would result in "facial harmony" but I don't see how that's the case with the recessed jaw line.

I just want to mostly fix my tooth gaps and nothing else.

Well it seems like, and this is what every orthodontist does, they're trying to squeeze every penny out of you as possible. I wouldn't worry about your teeth too much unless they cause physical discomfort.

Yep. My biggest health problem in terms of teeth is that I have gum recession in one of my upper wisdom teeth, but that's because the bottom tooth opposite of it is literally not there, so I need an implant. But that's another issue entirely.

I think I'm just going to ask for some lightweight aligner to close my gaps and then do dental bonding, probably. Save more money, too, likely.

So is your jaw actually recessed? You will need jaw surgery for that, not only will you look better, but having a recessed jaw is a genuine orthodontics issue that can cause problems.

It looks slightly recessed if I line it up with the orthodontist's proper bite.

If I do a side profile and close my mouth like I always do, it does not look recessed.

They just want your money

NEVER get any of your teeth removed. Ever.
If they say they have to pull teeth go to another ortho and ask for a palate expander

>"facial harmony"
it's not going to help you with than, and braces will actually fuck your face.

>alr schizo
Not the guy you marked, but he is right, and calling him a schizo without making any points just makes you dumb and retard.

I guess it's time to stop helping people dude, let them get themselves fucked. Some people will only learn though trial and error, and that's ok.
