Went back to an ex after a year. Regretted it. How do I remedy this?

I thought we had both had changed for the better. And I was craving companionship when I should’ve been focusing on my own personal development (mid 20s male). She was holding out hope for a long time, so I feel like a complete douche for letting this happen. There’s ‘love’, but it’s really more like puppy love. This has been going on for a couple weeks and I need help.

Do you have any friends to tell you that you're a damn fool for doing that before you did it?

2 choices:
1. be honest and break it off. she will be pissed and emotionally hurt and she’ll either deal with it like a big girl or not. That’s her responsibility.
2. Suck it up knowing that you don’t feel committed enough, hope it works out and you develop feelings or can fake it enough to be “comfortable”, and the relationship will either drag on until the both of you are miserable from the lack of mutual connection, or maybe only you’ll be miserable and she’ll be blissfully ignorant. You don’t have kids it sounds like, so just break up and be happy dude.
Yeah, it’s selfish, that’s life. You can’t sacrifice your future because you thought a second chance would make something work that obviously doesn’t.

How long were you two together for in the original run?

I’ll have to consider your advice.
