I just learned that if you're homeless and seeking housing, there is a mental and/or risk vulnerability assessment that they have you do at some point in order to determine your eligibility for housing.

Do people lie on those things to get housing?

I've taken a couple of these in the recent times, and at the end, the interviewer just looked at me like as if I fucked it up, but they don't say anything cause I'm not supposed to know I fucked it up.

I told them that I don't do drugs, I'm not suicidal, I don't have mental issues, I haven't been abused, I don't have health issues or disabilities.

My drug tests came back negative for everything.

None of that shit.

I fucked it up, haven't I?

I should have lied my ass off, right?

Lies come back to bite you in the ass.

The fact is if some given place is your ancestral homeland, you deserve a modest, private shelter in it without being made to pay rent or taxes.
Premade and paid for in some reasonable way or built by yourself, ultimately those are the same thing.
Having to work for money for years or even decades for the gamble that you might some day accumulate 150+k or a huge loan is NOT reasonable.

I got in (in the EU) without lying my ass off but I wouldn't say the way I did it was optimal, I have good hope that you'll find a better way.

Yes, the homeless shelters are full of violent psychotic schizophrenics

Oh I have one piece of advice, you need to get into some kind of temporary housing program and do well on it and that escalates to increasingly permanent housing.

Thanks for reminding me, I got picked out of the homeless shelter to go to another shelter that was materially better but communally worse (it was a youths shelter and the atmosphere was terrible, despite there being relatively little kerfuffles), from there I got actual housing.

FAR more important than any personality assessment is a need assessment. Face it - if you are an essentially able-bodied and able-brained single man, you are going to be way down the list behind families, seniors and disabled people.

Don’t jump through their hoops. Have some dignity.
