Is getting a good expensive lawyer really that important? Do expensive lawyers make a difference or not? Can I trust a lawyer or is he trying to convince me to spend money on him even though there's no chance of success? Should I talk to a lawyer before talking to the police or after? I want to sue someone but I read online it would be a bit difficult to win a trial.
This is Spain btw, not sure if relevant

Buy one hour of a lawyer's time to lay out your situation and get advice. If he says it's not worth trying, trust him, because he's advising you to not give him money. If he seems too eager, be suspicious because he may just want your money. An honest lawyer will lay out the chances of winning or losing honestly.
