Is it possible to turn off the inner monologue and think without words?
>>34558423Yes. Study dao and zen. You can't not have thoughts in normal life but you can create space between so you can see them from farther away. The higher state of literally no thoughts is not something you can maintain.
>>34558436>The higher state of literally no thoughts is not something you can maintain.hold my beer
>>34558436I'm not actually talking about not having thoughts, but rather about not verbalizing them in my mind
>>34558459You already do this but you are not aware of it because you don't do it all the time. Animals can think to a certain extent but they don't have a language apart from knowing to use some sounds so they naturally think without verbalizing and it was the same for early humans.
to some degreeit becomes a huge effort to keep it that way thoughit's especially hard if you're reading all dayit's not some huge achievement, most of the thoughts you verbalize are preceded by wordless thoughts already, you just don't hear them. no powers to unlock here.
>>34558486Yes but I want to stop verbalizing completely, I saw that some people are like this but I don't know if you are just born this way or if you can stop>>34558510>it becomes a huge effort to keep it that way thoughMaybe you can get used to it? >it's especially hard if you're reading all dayReading would be a exception, the only time I would verbalize>no powers to unlock hereMaybe that way the inner monologue would stop tormenting me and I would have more peace
>>34558423fasting and meditation
>>34558459Meditation and clearing your mind. Use noise canceling headset. Listen to white noise. Try beta, theta waves. Make site it doesn't have hidden subliminals. I would make my own track using audacity. Listen and empty your mind. Whatever the thought that happens don't work on completing or addressing it. Let it go. Empty once again. Do this over time. At least once a day for a half hour.
>>34558544I can't fast because I am underweight>>34558558>Listen to white noise. Try beta, theta waves. Can you explain the difference between meditating to these sounds and meditating by like just paying attention to your breath? I normally do the latter
>>34558423Do you honestly think in sentences all the time? Like "I want an orange" instead of "the concept of the sensation of eating an orange" being beamed into your head as your new directive? Half the time I'm thinking in meme sound effects.
>>34558616Maybe not all the time but like 90%. I will sometimes think "I want a orange" and other times I will just get a orange but still thinking in something else
>>34558594>I can't fast because I am underweightYou don't need to do extended fasts, you could fast for a single day once a week.
>>34558707How exactly would that help?
>>34558772He's gay and stupid, but he meant that fasting can make you too mentally tired to ruminate
>>34558818This seems horrible
>>34558836It's overrated, and a fad, and a meme.
>>34558772Fasting detoxifies your body and cleans your gut, which has a direct connection to your brain and thus your thinking. Your gut is called the second brain for a reason. Clean body = clean mind. Speaking from personal experience whenever I fast my mind becomes noticeably calmer.
>>34558849Your life sux tho, with or without the fasting meme or your other stupid gimmicks
>>34558856Lmao why are you so triggered?
>>34558862Seems like you are
>>34558423Why not just make your inner monologue more positive?
