Elaborate on your cat's status too, please.

Advice for keeping a five-month-old kitten from chewing on cords? He doesn't do it when I'm not home, so I think it's mostly to get my attention. Still, it's really frustrating and I worry I might not wake up in time (he habitually does it in the morning) before he breaks something or hurts himself. I've tried re-arranging cords behind furniture but he either does his damndest to dig it out or flat-out switches to biting the plug itself.

I don't do raw food, but I know a deal about nutrition and raw feeding if you have questions. Personally I don't see a nutritional benefit of raw vs cooked (yet), given that all the nutrients are provided. Obviously cooked will take longer because you'll have to cook it, and raw has a higher danger of parasites if not properly prepared. You really do have to do a deal of homework on whatever you choose to do; many raw diets are not actually complete and can't be fed long term without lasting effects, and many people that feed raw (especially ones selling a recipe) actually feed it in conjunction with a commercial food. If you go for raw, I highly suggest getting yourself a nice grinder.
So with feeding raw you have a couple of options;
>homemade raw
>homemade mixed with commercial food
>commercial raw
>prey model raw
>Whole Prey Model Raw (Very little info on this, would not suggest it personally but I think it's very interesting and would love to see more studies on it)
I've got a couple of links here, these are sites that are from veterinary nutritionists and accredited by the AMVA. I'd suggest giving them a peek through.

If you are sure he only does it when you are around, you can spray with water or make a loud noise. Alternatively spray some citrus shit on there
>>2833986
Go to vet, and ask if you can supplement with pedialyte/karo syrup to help get the cat to eat (i say ask vet because it can actually cause cat to crash and die), but also try smellier foods. You can even try turkey baby food but make sure it doesn't have onions or anything else toxic to cats. Try petting her back when offering food (mother cats do this to get babies to eat).

I went to the vet recently and she told me 10 years old is an elderly cat and to choose my next steps wisely. She basically told me to not waste money on a litany of tests because "these things happen at that age"

I had a cat live to 18 until the diabetes and senility made it too touch to watch her struggle.

Try to force water down her throat, maybe some tuna juice. My cat didn't eat for two weeks when very ill and getting a saline injection brought her back to life and normal functioning. I guess cats just wait to die when dehydrated, they're not too good at diagnosing their problems.

Do it, anon. It's probably very hard for your kitty to hang on to life.
>>
>>2835297
If you can afford it, maybe you should try to get an in-home euthanasia done. Some vets offer it, so you might just have to ask around. It'll be much less stressful for her and you could have her cuddle in her favorite spot and pet her while the deed is done. She knows you loved her very much and I'm sure she'd want to be around as long as possible to be with you.

I bought over four types of cat trees/scratchposts. He never uses them. I move it around, spray anti-scratch (doesn't ever work) on furniture, show him how to scratch it, but he just refuses to use it. Instead, he scratches my couch. I tried buying every type of material but he just refuses to use them. What do I do to make him stop messing up my couch? I really don't want to declaw him, since cats practically need claws.

If it helps, he only plays with rope and strings. He licks feathers(????) and ignores mouse toys.
>>
>>2835726
My cats like pic related. I also have a few of the kind that just lie flat on the floor.
If furniture scratching continues, trimming your cat's front claws with nail clippers is always an option.

A couple of things:

First off, like the other anon alluded to, you should try getting scratch pads of various orientations. I noticed you said you got him trees/posts, which I presume are all of a vertical orientation. Some cats don't really like scratching that way, some prefer to rend shit horizontally or at an incline. My cat, for example, doesn't really give a fuck about about the posts I got him, but he took right to a corrugated cardboard scratch pad that sits flat on the floor. By the way, you should make sure that whatever you get him is as rock solid as possible, especially if it's a scratching post--if it tilts at all, they won't like it. Other than that, try sprinkling some catnip on the scratch pads to encourage him to use them, and place them near problem areas (like your couch) so he is inclined to use the nicer alternative.

And, lastly, trim his claws. That will make a huge difference, and if you don't want to do it yourself, a lot of pet stores have groomers that come in that will do it for really cheap. If you REALLY can't solve the scratching problem, then the last thing you could consider looking into are claw caps.

A different guy, but i have questions about cat food. I have a 6 year old female and got two kittens (3 months old) recently. they're doing fine, but feeding them wet food from the store is expensive. im trying to make my own

all the recepies online have like meat grinders and all this shit i need to buy to cook the food. i would prefer to get everything at the store instead of going to farmers and buying hearts and gizzards and testicles and shit

im trying to keep this relatively cheap and simple

is their any wet cat food recepie you could provide me thats not a total clusterfuck

basically you take chicken thighs, bones and all, but how do you get calcium and taurine, buying supplements seems sketchy. wat do
>>
>>2835965
Its "human" one. Its decent.
>>2835977
Thanks for advice, I'll look into that.
Local vet said that operating is more harm than good, and its not even confirmed cancer.

Actually she felt better today, meowed a bit, ate a lot, but still slept for like 90% of the day.

Thanks for support.
>>
>>2835985
Buying supplements is sketchy because their quality and dose is not regulated, you can end up having an excess or deficiency. Taurine is found in muscles meats and organs, so they will need some of that at minimum. You can get more calcium from crushed egg shells (I leave them out to dry first then crush them to a powder) but the crushed bones should be providing ample calcium. Vitamin A should be a concern because cats need a preformed version of Vit A. Unfortunately home made raw, simple and cheap don't really go hand in hand, pic related. You can, however, get the unusual parts of animals from chink grocery stores for fairly cheap.
>is their any wet cat food recepie you could provide me thats not a total clusterfuck
Do you mean wet commercial recipe, or home made raw recipe?

go to vet and get an x ray and or ultrasound. does she poop? make sure she's not constipated. does she yowl at night? she could be in pain, maybe pancreatitis? does she vomit? is she drinking? is she drinking a lot? is she dehydrated?

anyway the big 2 0, you made it anon, it's time to start planning what you'll do, look up at home euthanasia before you have to make the call, you can even call the doctors before hand to get a feel for if they're crazy or not
>>
>>2836052
and just to be clear, I meant euthanasia for when she gets irreparably sick, not just because she's old. Nobody dies of old age, old age just increases the chances of something going wrong

I feed my cat raw chicken breast as her primary food. I do give her some dry food to supplement, mainly at night or anytime food needs to be left out.

She loves it and is happy and healthy. She sheds less, her poop is near odorless, and I will keep it up.

Yes, and/or lazy. There are hundreds of ways to keep a cat stimulated and happy indoors.

No. Cats are meant to roam free. My cats died when they were 20 and it had never crossed my mind to keep them locked up. It's inhumane to make a cat breathe the same air all its life.

Do you have a diet plan so far? I could tell you what you may be lacking or might see an excess/deficiency of. If you're lost on where to start the links I provided earlier give you an easy way to create a balanced diet with what you have/want to use, and has been accredited by vets specialized in nutrition. If nothing else it can give you a jump start on your diet. Cats hate change so I would say find one thing that is balanced and stick with it. It could also cause GI upset. Speaking of, you will want to slowly switch to the raw food. I'd suggest mixing the commercial with some bits of raw until your cat is only eating raw. You won't have to worry too much about vitamin/mineral balance during this because the commercial food will keep your cat covered for the most part. As you start with the raw diet though it is important the cat eats everything, or else it could end up having a deficiency. Also, though not as important as the nutrients, you have to keep in mind the kcal of what you're feeding. It's going to be harder because you'll have to calculate the kcal based on what you're feeding and in what amount. Your younger kitten is going to need a lot more protein than your older cat. Also as far as calories go, it will vary greatly on many factors. Your cat's resting daily kcal requirements is- (Weight in kg * 30) +70. Don't go under that unless you want them to lose weight.

>>
>>2837517
I live with my family and my mom got it from my grandma, since my grandma didn't want her, because after the cat arrived at my grandma's house, she kept knocking everything onto the floor because the cat's a retarded clutz. If my grandma returned her to the pound this would have been the fourth or fifth time she was returned and would likely never find a home after that. So my mom committed it to live with us, and my sister-in-law also wants to keep it here despite never spending more than five minutes in the house.

I'm already accepting the fact that I have to wait for it to die in ten or so years. I just want the cat to stop being such a fucking headpat slut.

>>
>>2837471

>>
>>2837570
>she's attacking you

>Heated bed
Good idea. That should calm her down when i'm not in the room and give her a place to settle down that's not right next to me. Thank you.
>>
>>2837579
If her claws are too long, you need to either provide more scratching surfaces or trim her claws. You're blaming the cat for something you've failed to provide.
>>
>>2837604
I've had other cats that don't rip into my crotch everytime they want to sit on my lap and she scratches up my chair all the time, which I'm fine with. Though it has been a while since her claws have been trimmed. I'll do that, but I still don't like cats on my lap all the time.
>>
>>2837608
Your chair fabric might not offer enough resistance for her to wear her claws down on; try a cardboard or rope scratcher. I had a cat who loved scratching up an old TV speaker, but he shredded the fabric like paper so it didn't do much to help maintain his claws.

i was thinking of combining chicken, some organs (don't want to deal with that but i guess i could call some local farmers since i live in a rural north east area) eggs, maybe ground up egg shells for calcium. i dont know how to include bones since i dont have a meat grinder. i might not do that and use something else instead. with 3 cats though i want to try and make a container of it and keep it in the fridge and take their food out to feed them. so i was thinking some sort of mixture where all the raw food gets combined into some juicy soupy thing. i know moisture is very important too.

ingredients:
chicken
organs (need to call farmers to verify what they have)
should i include eggs & egg shells?
water for moisture?
bit of salt for flavor?

i know veggies and carbs are not really digestable for cats and not in their diet. ideally you want to keep them eating mice and shit and things they would catch from hunting. so eggs and chicken with moisture and some flavoring and organs seems ok. should i just get a blender specific for cat mulching? should i add stuff?

>>2837296
is a good image but i guess i would need to scale out the chicken and organs to weigh them and make sure it was the precise amount. im also a bit worried of how to include bones.

i read another thing that says cats like warm food, because it feels like it was alive and just died. when i fry chicken for myself ill sometimes give my cats a bit of it, and they fucking love it. so i was thinking if i had it frozen or in the fridge would they still like the coldness of it? should i heat it up in the microwave somehow for a lil bit of warm soup?

i know its a lot of questions but thanks a ton. if i can make a healthy mixture i would love to try and help others too. thank you my friend, i feel bad giving my cats store bought

I apologize. I was posting angry. I do not completely despise the cat, but rather am uncharmed by her usual antics and constant need for attention. I have moments though where i admit she's cute and very lovable. It was just that I was just angry because she stepped on my balls three separate times this morning and climbed up my shirt with her claws out when I bent over to pick up trash and immediately after she kept this constant begging to climb in my lap or be pet at every moment through the day.

I guess your right. At least she wants to be loved, rather than be a prick.
You know what, thanks. Never really looked at it like that, but she is actually fantastic in that department. I'd say being cute is her only survival skills, but I guess she is making it work.
She meows on command to any verbal prompting (exclusively to me), sleeps next to or on me at night and morning, and likes it when you pet her belly.

>some stuff is kinda contradictory
That's why it's so important to read stuff that the AMVA recommends by vet nutritionists. There is still a lot of research and new findings being made with animal food, so some vets disagree with each other and some old information may be outdated. There are so many sites out there with recipes, but I sort of cringe away when I see spelling or grammar errors, or they suggest something I think is dangerous without explaining why it's dangerous or precautions to take, or neglect to tell people what they should look out for in certain foods, etc. I don't always have the time to look through someone's recipe and see if it meets requirements for life.
I hate to be the stickler but you will probably need some grinded bones to meet the calcium requirements. Your calcium to phosphorus ratio should be a 1:1 to 1.5:1 ratio, I'm unsure if eggs will be able to get you there but you could always check (you may need a ton of egg shells!) I would highly suggest a grinder not just for the bones but to mash up everything in equal proportions. That way if your cat gets full too early, it's not missing vital nutrients. So you'll have to keep in mind satiety too to make sure your cat eats all it needs to eat. It's also a lot easier to transition cats to grinded diets. I would not suggest over the counter supplements as these are unregulated and their quality goes unchecked, and cats are very different from most animals in that some vitamins they can not process unless in their pre-formed versions. I'd also be worried in fat-soluble vitamins being in excess as well. I know 100% meat diets are all the rage right now, but they make stool formation very difficult. I recommend making a binder of the foods you want to feed, what percent of nutrients they will provide (DMB should meet AAFCO requirements), try to balance it from there and also have a list of symptoms and deficiencies so you can quickly recognize and fix any issues in the diet.

im laying in bed after excruciating hours of hospital because i tried hanging myself but the curtain pole fell (long story, sorry for blogpost) then i see this

i know realistically scientifically biologically she probably doesn't give a shit and just saw a comfy spot to nap on. but when i saw this, everything dawned on me and the tears won't stop flowing. because of many thoughts, many feelings, but most importantly, damn, i love my cat so much.

when i arrived home she curled up beside me and started purring as well. like i said, she probably just wanted a warm comfy spot. but to me that meant so much i cannot put into words.

i dont know. some argue cats care about you and can sense when you're not ok. others say cats just care about themselves and we're fooling ourselves.

but i love my kot. and i know, it dawned on me, i am destined to become the grave full-on stereotype of crazy psycho cat lady.

i waited 10 hours in the er to see a psych to evaluate my symptoms/damage and instead in 2mins he just told me to fuck off into mental hospital confinement against my will and told me to fuck off and the van's already arriving.

sitting down waiting for the van my immediate thought that made me start bawling (aside from the fact mental hospitals are concentration camps that strip you of all your rights and im basically going to prison) was my kot. i started bawling out loud with my ol man beside me, "my cat, my cat, what about my cat".

Ok it was my mistake to leave the door open but why didn't the cat make any noise? The dog is cool and I sometimes pet him when I meet him on the street but my cat didn't seem to like him, also I suspect that the noise he made with the cube was to distract me when the dog was invading my home.

What the actual fuck was that? Maybe the dog invaded on his own and the cat just didn't know what to do but I highly doubt that, the cat usually jumps on me when he's scared or at the very least runs to the high ground, that's also historically he hisses and/or runs to hide behind me when he sees the dog.

What to do with a kitten that refuses to eat cat food and only goes for the mother's tit? He's a month and like one and a half weeks old.
I wanted to take him, but I can't take both. Should I just wait a couple more weeks until he'll be weaned by his mother naturally and then take him? I remember my first cat by this age was already eating whole fishes and whatnot.
What food can be used to start transitioning? Youghurt without sugar and additives would be good, right?

Kitten jumped onto the stove while it was on just now (back was turned, stove on low thankfully), he didnt make it all the way on but scampered away and was licking his paw. Now hes running around like normal and we dont see any blisters yet. Anything we can do for him?
>>
>>2839796
If he's running around like normal he's probably fine. You said he didn't make it all the way to the burner itself? He may have just felt the hotter metal around the burner and barely singed himself enough to feel it but not enough to melt flesh. Try to examine his paw again in an hour or so. If there's still no blistering he's fine.

I'd say you might not need the ER but it depends on your area--there's a lot of walk-in clinics near me so I don't normally need the ER unless something happens in the middle of the night or a long weekend. If you get same-day appointments with your normal vet that should be fine, if you have to schedule days ahead of time that's not. But burns can get infected very easily so I'd recommend you see a professional if it starts blistering, yeah.

Any advice on a good carrier? I got this hard one for free but I'm worried she hates it

What do you need it for? That looks pretty adequate for short transportation. The soft-sided ones are best for plane trips and stuff. She's never gonna love the carrier, so whatever gets the job done safely and securely is fine. Try lining it with a favorite blanket.

The backpack carriers...don't have personal experience, but from what I've heard they're pretty small and not comfortable. You'd probably have to train her to use it.

Is it a good idea to find a friend for my cat?
I can see he wants to catch my attention a lot, he follows me everywhere and brings his toy to me so I can play fetch with him.
I don't have that much time now and I feel like he would get depressed with time like this.

My brother did pair up a cat with his first cat, but it went bad, because he got depressed over the newly adopted cat...somehow...

So my question is, if I ever adopt a second cat, is there a way to make sure they go along?
If not I won't risk it.

Keep new cat locked in a room for 3 or 4 days. Then put new cat in a different room and let your current cat explore the area on her own. Probably will hiss and not like it at all. Very slow introduction including supervised visits initially. I did this when I had a week off of work. I'm about 7 weeks in now I think and the aggression has stopped between them but still far from friends. More like acquaintances

Hello, /an/, I could use some advice. More of a personal question I guess, but whatever.

I recently took in a stray kot and really fell in love with him. I'm soon, however, going to be in a position where I won't be able to keep him for a long time. My mom wants to keep him, but she's almost never home and has very little time when she is home, so I'm worried she won't be able to spend any time with him.

He also seems to get anxious pretty easily and she'd pretty much never be home to deal with that. He's a bit of a handful, and I'm not sure she'd be able to deal with that either. It would probably be hard for her to be attentive to his needs in general.

The other problem is that, given that he came from the outside, he's really active throughout much of the day and wants to play/have attention constantly. He only seems to be entertained when I'm actively playing with him and seems bored as fuck throughout the rest of the day. I wouldn't be entirely opposed to letting him back outside were it not for the fact that I live in a pretty congested city, and I'm pretty sure my neighbors would try to kill him.

I have a relative in a rural area willing to take him in, who has had cats her whole life. Do you guys think a second cat might suffice to keep him company, and keep him engaged? Or should I let my relative have him? I love this little fucker so much, but he came at the worst time. I just want him to be happy.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that said relative also has a cat and has been looking for another. So, he'd definitely have a buddy.
>>
>>2840932
I'd wager passing the cat along to the relative would be the most beneficial thing

I have a 14yr old cat that actually hates being outside. I've tried taking her out on a harness several times throughout her entire life, and she still hates it to this day. So apartment living doesn't bother her at all.
>>
What are the chances for a cat missing for nine days out in rural Connecticut? It's not my cat, but a close family member's, and I don't know the right amount of support to give them since I'm not from the area.
>>
>>2840750
That's pretty normal. It usually means they've been eating too much green stuff, in my experience.
>>
>>2840536
I’m in the same boat as you bud. This girl’s mom died when she was four weeks old and she’s the same way.
>>
>>2839796
Just keep an eye on the feet. My kot did the same thing with a glass top stove. She chewed all her claws, on the burned paw, to bloody stumps from the pain. I got her into a vet asap & got her taken care of. So I think your kot is probably ok, but just keep an eye on it.
>>
>>2841085
>on a harness
there's your problem dumbass.
>>
Should I give up on my new cat? She hates being around my other 2 cats, she attacks them out of nowhere, and she peed on my chair. I did everything you're supposed to when introducing a new cat. She's been here for 2 months now with no sign of improvement.
>>
>>2840536
I have a cat like that, it's because she left her family too young. I just let her calmly leave the room if she wants to. She's fine with people that come over often now, like my sister and bff, but she still gets stressed around strangers.
>>
>>2841211
You can try to be dominant. Break up fights before it escalates. In the beggining I also shouted at my cats whenever they misbehaved. That dissuaded them from acting out anything that displeased me.
>>
>>2841230
They've never had a fight that escalated. The new cat mostly just growls at other cats, and attacks them randomly about twice a week, but the other cats dgaf about the new cat and walk away from it.
>>
So I got the >>2839574 kitten in, my fears have been confirmed — the only way to make a little guy eat is from the syringe. It's watered down yogurt.
He knows how to lap up water though
>>

My advice is return the kitten to the mother asap. Even if you can feed it, the behaviour will be fucked up like >>2840536 or worse. Cats can develop depression and they can kill themselves by refusing to eat. That's what happened to my neighbours cat when her kittens were taken too early. She kept searching for them until she died.

So my parents adopted a feral, fast forward a few months, she gives birth to a healthy litter of kittens, weans them and disappears. Did she get hit by a car or is it normal for ferals to display attachment to a household then drop off the kids and leave?

Feral cats don't like people. If it was a feral cat, the second it was let outside it would have never come back unless maybe you kept the kittens inside. If it was an outdoor cat, there's a ton of different things that could have happened including death.

I had a cat sort of dumped on me a few months back. The 7 year old cat I already had has NOT acclimated to him at all. They constantly fight, hiss, and just generally find any way possible to get into altercations with one another. I introduced both slowly, but nothing helped.

Am I just going to have to get rid of the other cat? It's been 4 months now, and things are just as bad as when I got this cat dumped on me.

It's been 3 weeks since I went to go see my cat at the hospital and had to put him down. Does the feeling of terror and depression ever stop? I hate sleeping and I hate waking up and I hate being alive. It wasn't supposed to be the last time I got to see him. He was supposed to come home.

Alright /kot/s

I have a female kitten with what appears to be male 'pubic hair?' She has what LOOKS like a start of a penis sheath at the top that changed its mind halfway through development or something and smoothed out into a normal female slit. She also has an abundance of fur poking out where testicles would be. Viewed from above, below and any angle that isnt directly behind the cat would make you think that she's a he

I adopted a ~1 year old cat form the shelter in July, I was thinking about adopting another cat since I feel like she gets bored alone in my apartment all day by herself.

Would it be better to adopt a kitten or an older cat in terms of them getting along? Or is that just down to the personality of my cat?
>>
>>2842382
A combination of your cat and the new cat's personalities. If your cat is playful and likes new people, she would probably adapt to a kitten. But if she's a bit shy or skittish and hides when there's new folks, a calm old cat who wouldn't disturb her much would be better. If she's a bit territorial, you'll have to be kinda careful and maybe figure out a way for her to meet any others you consider adopting, but a submissive female peer would be best, since your cat would be able to set her own boundaries and not be too challenged.

Need some advice on what my dad should do with his cat. TLDR: The cat was really his wife's pet, but she passed away a couple years ago. He's been taking care of the cat since then but has some medical problems making it really hard on him since he already has trouble just taking care of himself, so he wants to give the cat away. What's the best way to do this? I'd take the cat myself but I can't have pets where I live. Another problem is that he's never seen a vet once in his life (he's somewhere around 10 years old) and hasn't been neutered, and he's too old to qualify for any programs that do the deed for free or at a discount. Knowing all that, is there any safe place we can take this guy where he'll have a chance at finding a decent home?
Any anons here around Baltimore MD that might want him?
>>
Is it normal for a cat, 10 days after neutering surgery and surgery vest use, to go ABSOLUTELY BATSHIT CRAZY the instant the vest is off? She’s fucking running around jumping, bitting and hitting everything on the way, sort of like a “I want to do everything I couldn’t do the past week NOW that I’m free”
>>
>>2843009

just sounds like a happy cat to me.
>>
>>2843033
But she was running away from me and running desperately, stumling across stuff and hitting the wall all night long.
The moment we put the vest back on (which was a struggle), she calmed down, approchead me and slept in my lap as cuddly as a cat can be. Does she feel safer in the vest? Using it she became the cuddliest most attention begger cat in the world. (She was a bit ot a crazy cat. She looks like she can move (somewhat) freely and that it doesn’t bother her at all, but I’m sure keeping the use of the vest after the neutering is a mean thing to do.
>>
>>2843038
Surgeries and traumatic vet / clinic visits can do a number on a cat's psyche. A good friend has an older calico who refused to eat for 2 weeks following a trip to the groomer's for trimming. Poor thing nearly starved herself to death. Your girl is probably so used to the vest that it feels normal to her. Removing it and then putting it back on was probably further stress and change for her, but she can't wear it forever. I say take it off and let her deal for a day. Maybe swaddle her with a bath towel and give her rubs on your lap whenever she needs to calm down.
Stories like yours are also part of why I don't spay my female cats. It can take my oldest girl several months to fully recover from even minor traumatic experiences like being left home alone for ~3 days.

"There was a new Tom on the trail cameras last night, I wonder if he'll be dumb enough to stick around?"
and
"Anyone want to see the feral grey that wasn't smart enough to get off my property?"

he's obviously got some compensation problems and is trying to express his dominance by killing cats or other small animals he might dislike. What a shit thread.

Kitten has accommodated it seems, eats and drinks good! Also appears to have a good stool! Very playful and lovely.
The only issue is that he's long haired so his back parts are all smired with piss or poo after he's done with the dirty business so I have to clean him every time
Also vet told me that he's got fleas but he can't be treated right now but only in 2 weeks because he's too young I guess?
Should I just trim the fur on his bum and legs?
>>
>>2843524
Smeared*
>>
>>2843524
Have you given kitten a bath yet? I start every street intake with an extended warm shower using cat shampoo. Many of the fleas will be washed out. A good way to clean dirty kitten is to swaddle him in an old bath towel. Soak the towel through under the shower and soap the whole thing up. You can indirectly scrub kitten without getting scratched and without touching the majority of his filth.

As for food, try offering canned kitten pate. Mix it with the yogurt if he doesn't show interest at first. The sooner he adjusts to semi solid food the better for you both.
>>
>>2843527
He already eats kitten pouches, pate and human baby meat pate. He actually dislikes dairy in any shape and form.
Didn't give him a bath yet. Tried to wash his bum today after he shat but he hates plain water and screams. I just wipe his arse with wet cloth atm.
Thank you, I'll try the towel thing you described.
>>
>>2843524
Yes trim their ass end. I have to with my cat every few months also. If you don't want to get a clipper vets do it. Called a sanitary trim around here
>>
Why is my cat such a cunt before feeding time? Literally pawing and clawing at anything he knows will make me want to chase him down
>>
>>2843167
She still has her sutures (the vet will remove them next tuesday), but will just let her be once they're off, thank you!
Will her cuddly/cute/sleepy behaviour change once she becomes free of the vest boundaries? She used to be a really playful cat, running, jumping and trying to get things (almost as crazy as she went once the vest was off), but after neutering she became way more "domesticated". That behaviour, however, was only observed with the use of the surgical vest.
>>
My cat has never liked to be brushed which is a problem because he's a long haired tabby. I think it's that he thinks its a punishment. Hello, lads. I have a bit of a problem.
I need to move my cat... 1000km.
The story is long, so I won't make this too long.
What I'm doing right now is driving him about 150km in my car, then taking him on a cruise ship over the Baltic sea (500km/ basically ~14h). I have booked a special cabin that allows free-roaming pets. The least I could do for him. After that, another 500km to where I actually live; trip by car.
Has anyone gone through anything similar? I want to make this trip as peaceful as possible.
I have never moved him anywhere further than 1km to the vet's office. How should I prepare for this? I do have a travel cage and whatever else, but I'm very anxious about the whole thing, since I hate hearing his stressed out meows.
I would GREATLY appreciate any tips from fellows anons how to proceed with this

If you don't have the patience to rehabilitate a feral, don't trap them. I've turned several street cats into adoptable pets, but each one has required 2-3 months of slow trust building exercises. Even with a 2 month old kitten, you need to give it some time to calm down.

How old is the cat? Most 12+ cats really don't want that much action anymore, but your mother should still offer her a few minutes of playtime and lots of talking and cuddling everyday.
Why would they run away? If it's going to be an inside-outside cat, make sure to keep her inside only until there's a bond between the cat and your mother and do some callback training.

No healthy cat shits all over the place but since every pet can get sick your mother should be ready to deal with stuff like that and have enough money for vet visits.

Yes, they do piss in tubs for some reason. Also you will have to replace glazing like in 3 years due to this. (Not chemical reaction, but claws)

Fuck, my kitten does that all the damn time. There have been a few serious close calls because he'll push himself under my feet when I start to pull one off the floor.

I miss my cat too.

my dumb asshole cat keeps getting shit stuck on its asshole and tail and getting it all over fucking everything and I have no idea how to stop it from happening or even clean it off her because I can't hold her still and lift her tail and wipe her ass at the same time and even then it's usually dug in there so I would have to talk it out with the hair which obviously doesn't fucking work
what the shit do I do
>>

Cut hair.

Picked her up as stray kitty years ago, this is her most recent babies.

Still doesnt know what breed she is can anybody tell me just by looking at this pic. Her babies seem to be a mix this time because they seem to have thicker fur.

She started eating and meowing again

I picked a purebred Siamese off the street and use her as a mouser. They are the sort to meow even though nothing's actually wrong i.e. they just want attention. There is no sugarcoating their volume issues; they're just absolutely the wrong animal if you want a cat that sits around quietly, or if you're used to cats that only meow when hungry.

It's hard to find any concrete details about their temperament, but apparently they're trainable-ish? I tried to make mine come on command and holy crap what a stubborn little fuck. This might take a few days.

Why the hell did you have to bathe a cat? Did it roll around in oil?

Just got a new girl after losing my last one I had for 8 years. She's acclimated super well, and we managed to snap this photo of her. Maybe you guys can use it as some sort of reaction image!
