Say that you can transform into any animal. Which animal would be most suited for harassing minorities? Assuming there's no time limit for the transformation, of course.
>>4880524Some type of parasite or bacteria since they cannot into hygiene.
Goat, to trick them into zoological deviancy.
Probably a chimp
>>4880524Cheetah :)
>>4880524Haast's eagle
Crows, as always>Dark, blends in nicely as long as I keep quiet>Bigger and stronger than regular birds>Can go inside their apartments and steal their stash>Spy on them, make note when they meet their dealers>Drop off anonymous notes for their parole officersOnly downside is I'd have a good sense of smell and their apartments would smell like shit
>>4880524>No time limit>You actually read the booksNice. So I'm assuming we're going with animorphs rules. I don't care about harassing minorities per say but for harassing people I don't like I'd want to turn into something super exotic and crazy, but something small.Maybe a brightly colored frog or bird.I'd harass my target when they're alone so that only they see me.I'd cause whatever destruction I could and be sure to look them right in the eye.I'd make my escape by hiding somewhere I could fit, morphing into a bug, and escaping the house. The idea is for my target to think they're going absolutely insane when they tell someone and aren't believed, especially if the other person is in the same house.Physical harassment would be fun and all but mental turmoil would be much more gratifying, I think.
sure be a shame if someone starting screeching at 135 decibels at any given moment
TNS
>>4880968Yeah that's one of the reasons nobody likes them and why OP wants to harass them
>>4880968They live with chirp of fire alarms constantly and drive cars that with sound systems deafen them to point they can't talk below a yell. Do you really think a sound is going to annoy them?
>>4880735>I'd cause whatever destruction I could and be sure to look them right in the eye.>I'd make my escape by hiding somewhere I could fit, morphing into a bug, and escaping the house.Remember that you need to demorph between transformations, so unless your hiding place can fit a human you're kinda screwed.
>>4881211I'm small and can fit under a sink as a human or maybe a closetIf I had morphing powers ngl I'd go kinda David (minus the murder) and start doing whatever I wanted but nothing on too grand a scale a la Light YagamiI don't need to take over the world just have a good time and without a two hour time limit there'd probably be days I'd stay in morph just to indulge in the side of nature that humans can no longer accessAs a human I'd also be much more likely to take physical risks since if I could heal via morph
>>4880524some kind of parrot that can talk like a human, so I can just call everyone their respective slurs or insults and shit on their cars
>>4880528anon how is that harassment, that's just you getting fucked in the ass
>>4880524Fuckin cried so hard as a kid when they fake killed Tobias in the evil animorph arc.
>>4881329Same anon I legit have been crying at some of these books and I'm only just now reading them the last couple of years for the first time Recently finished Visser Some of the filler stories are rough and slowed me down but Animorphs is criminally under rated thanks to those ugly covers Tobias is really a white haired anime boy and they pulled no punches in the first volume so when Tobias pretended to be dead I believed itI'm not gonna be surprised at all if one of the main cast ends up dead by the endThese might be children's books on paper but they go harder than any modern children's media Also I've learned a lot about animals I never thought about before
>Which animal would be most suitedIt's not about the form, but the willpower
>>4881356Agreed, holds up really well on adult reading
>>4881686Amazing post I wish was in png
Yerk Harry Potter hands wrote most of this thread
>>4880524>go to bank>meet with loan officer>insist on shaking their hand>steal their form>follow them home>animorph into them, break into their house, tie them up, prevent them from going to work>go to work as them>give out all sorts of bad loans to minorities>repeat the process until I cause another 2008
Just finished volume 36 and those Nartecs were fuckedInbred retarded amphibious humans simply stealing from the rest of humanity over the years lol but that's the kind of random worldbuilding I love from this seriesI realize I'm at over halfway through and I really get a sinking feeling the Andalites, other than Ax, are going to screw over our main cast in some wayAx has already proved his loyalty at this point>>4882190Human morphing is under ratedWhen I was in 2nd grade I used to imagine possessing my classmates that I didn't like and wrecking shit and then they'd get in trouble
>>4882258I imagined blowing them up with IEDs so their parents would get splattered with the blood of their failures. We had very different upbringings.
>>4882387Did you grow up in a third world country or what
>>4882409Depends where you place bongland. I think of it as a second world country.
>>4881356I forget how many side stories there are but there are only 54 main books if I remember right. How far through are you?
>>4883219>54 booksAny sexual content?
>>4883235No. Why would you ask this.
>>4880524A whale or a shark. Git em on teh boats
>>4883219I just started volume 37 and it's a Rachel book so I'm sure I'll enjoy it, her POVs are my second favorite next to TobiasCassie books tend to be the weakest for me but that's entirely because I relate more to Rachel and Marco's way of thinking and the butterfly book is my least favorite in the entire series so farMy personal ranking for POV:>Rachel>Tobias>Jake>Marco>CassieAx doesn't get enough POV books to really rank but it's a lot of fun, I love all of the Andalite and alien trivia we learn through his viewpoint and the unique way he views Earth.I wish we got more books like that.
>>4883436I don’t even think I could rank all the characters from a favorite to least. I recall Marco being my favorite as a kid. It’s been a few years since I’ve re-read them, but I understand why you view Cassie as the weakest of your preference, although I did personally like the butterfly one as an example of displaying weird quirks in the morphing rules as well as providing some characterization for the invaders. A lot of the Yeerks just happened to be in the pool when their ship was commandeered by zealots. I don’t mean to cite that as an excuse for what they do but I appreciate the context it provides. As and Tobias in the wild is top-tier however, those interactions I always remember as being great. But man, you are in for a fucking trip for the last few books. It’s the kind of shit that makes David’s arc look like a laugh.
>>4883452reread the series a few years ago, Marco remains my favorite POV and Cassie my least favorite
>>4883452My ranking was for POV, not favorite characters as I do love all of them even with Cassie being my least favorite character as wellShe just makes so many decisions that I see as stupid and I feel like it would be hard to protect her from her own bleeding heart if she were my friend which, in a way, they all kind of are our friends as the readerSo I don't hate her despite being frustrated with her if that makes sense? From a reading (and writing) perspective I have really deep appreciation for the gradual mindbreak we see with Jake--how he goes from being elected as the leader somehow to essentially molding himself into the role, how he's starting to become uneasy with just how natural it's coming to him to issue out orders to his friendsI really liked the Yeerk lore drop in the butterfly book, don't get me wrong, but Cassie's decision to just pull out of the fight and give up her life was so short sighted and I didn't think she'd get out of itBeing born as a Yeerk would absolutely fucking suck, but at the same time they wouldn't have known how much it sucked if not for the Andalites fucking with their planet to begin withImagine your whole species has tasted the forbidden fruit of a better life by the time you're born; it isn't your fault you crave to exist outside of the poolThe Tobias mindbreak POV really messed with me in the earlier books. There's a real sense of disgust and grief when he finally snapped and started eating mice and contemplated mating with a female hawk.I'm lowkey shipping Rachel with Tobias and Marco both and also Rachel with Jake because I can never resist incest. And I sorta ship Jake and Marco.I'd say Marco is my 2nd favorite character.Obviously these aren't romance or shipping books, just me having some fun with it although I sorta dread looking at the AO3 tag later. Thanks for talking with me about Animorphs anon I can't discuss it anywhere online w/o tranny shit lol>>4883505Based Marcobro
>>4883538To the outside observer these things always sound absurd. Like people that read the books have the autism of pokemon mystery dungeon mixed with the PTSD of Blood Meridian. https://youtube.com/watch?v=JY5GSYU0a4I
>>4881356Animorphs is fucking insane. Bill Gates is Visser Three's brother and he's a yeerk cannibal who finds his victims as an internet predator. Also remember the time when they morphed into termites and underwent ego deaths and Cassie was forced to kill the queen? Rachel also gives birth to a crocodile from sci-fi allergies.
Just finished Volume 37, the Cheetah book, and I was really pleasantly surprised with Jake not chewing out Rachel in the endWe had the book that's mostly Jake away from the rest of the crew, but iirc this is the first book where Jake isn't present for the main events and in his absence I feel like it's inevitable that Rachel would jump at the opportunity to be the leaderShe saw it as power instead of a responsibility and that's where she really messed up--she was responsible for the death of the old man, a death that I feel like Tobias immediately clocked with his hawk senses but didn't want to confirm initially.Knowing this, she lashed out because suddenly it wasn't fun anymore. Rachel was reckless with her plan of just causing a bunch of mayhem first and then attacking the Yerk community center last, it's sorta implied the controllers there were baitThese characters are super lucky that Yerk politics have saved their asses on more than one occasion but there's a darker implication in Visser Three letting them get away and it's that he's so confident eventually he'll capture the banditsRachel thinking about hubris earlier in the book makes me reflect on how poetic it is that it's V3's hubris that has granted them their livesI've always wondered what Rachel would do if she could have her way and now I have an answerBut we don't know if truly Tobias and Cassie would have voted on her to be their substitute leaderWild to think that thirteen year olds in the 90s were reading Oedipus Rex>>4884273It's funny you mention that since I'm a /vp/oren but I'm not that into Mystery Dungeon, my brain can't click into that autismLooked up Blood Meridian and it sounds like an acid trip on paper that I should probably read>>4884338Of all the morphs that you expect them to succumb to, the mind of a termite is not one that you'd ever guessBeing assimilated into an insect hive mind is nightmare fuelInsects have no real autonomy, you're fighting the mind of a machine
read the books alongside this https://web.archive.org/web/20191128172604/http://www.cinnamonbunzuh.blogspot.com/
Finished Volume 38, the Ax-Likes-A-Girl bookIt's pretty obvious from the beginning that the Animorphs were putting on an act for the Andalites, knowing they would be watchingRachel actually hitting Marco is what tipped me off, although it was obvious they were being watched, and gave me David arc flashbacks hahaThe amount of mind games the Animorphs can play with their enemy via private thoughtspeak is really fun to think about and you can easily imagine the conversations that went on coordinating the fake fights in the barnWatching Ax willingly plot against members of his own species and prioritizing his human companions really pulled at my heartstringsI felt guilty for just that little bit of doubt in my mind that Ax still was carrying some sort of loyalty to his own kin and rehearsed or not, it was sad to see Jake "release" Ax as his PrinceAx's genuine feelings for Estrid devolving as he realizes that she may be beautiful and brilliant but like other Andalites she has no value for human life and views his attachment to the species as a weakness is also exceedingly sadHim telling her, "actually I don't like you that much" while they're at the yerk pool got a chuckle out of meWe the reader, at the beginning of the series, are really led to believe--to hope--that Andalites are these intergalactic peacemakers who hate war and are just trying to lend a hand to the poor lesser species of the universeBut this book really just solidifies the reality that we've been fed throughout all of thisThere's no Andalite fleet coming to save the Earth or even AxAndalites do not inherently care about intelligent life unless it's to hail themselves as heroesThey care only about themselves, but would a powerful space council made up of advanced humans be any different?
>>4885109Had Ax looked himself up in the system while he was pulling files he probably would have discovered that he's listed as dead, tooElfangor cared about humans the same way Aldrea came to love the Hork-Bajir but these are anomaliesAndalite culture doesn't prioritize outer-species affections beyond duty and that duty is for the glory of their own species, so much so that they condemn those who commit war crimes (at the order of the war council) at a surface levelEstrid asking Ax at the end if Cinnabon is why he's so attached to humans and him affirming this sarcastically was a big moment for him, I feel likeThat's when it all finally clicked for him and that's why at the end he criedI'm curious to see where the next volume goes now that the Animorphs know they're on their own with not cavalry coming to save the dayThey aren't just holding off the Yerks anymore, they'll have to take them down themselves or convince the Andalites or some other species to give a damnOr maybe that weird jester god creature (I forgot the name) who is responsible for Tobias getting his morphing powers backBut iirc they're much more interested in watching the show rather than getting involved unless necessary>>4884726This is such a cool time capsule, thanks!I'm not really agreeing that this and the last book were filler but it's interesting to read thoughts from people from a decade agoThe starfish and shrinkray alien books were filler but not theseI'm sorry to spam and fill up the thread with my read through, but it was a nice reminder to finally pick back up where I left off and there's no place to really discuss this series without a tranny woke bullshit lensTobias possibly--maybe, unconfirmed, isn't it?--intentionally made himself into a nothlit because his home life was terrible and he wanted to escape it not because he wanted to be a girl baka
>>4880524Dinosaur of some sort and then I wait until they're tripping out on drugs
>>4880524Personally I'd want to be a snake that enters people's spaces. If they treat me well, I will bless them. But if they treat me wrong, then I will bring misery.
>>4881767Most of our refugee detention camps are in Nauru now
>>4881328either anon didn't think that through, or he thought it exactly through
>>4880543worse if you call the minorities a cheetah
I'd be a moose or a bison. 95iq tourists trying to take pictures are usually the food stamp demographic, meaning easy kills every time I come into sight.
Oh hey, glad to see this thread is still upStarting volume 39 tonight and it's a Cassie book so hoping I'll like it more than usualHer personality seems to have taken a darker turn lately
Crow. Crows can talk. Blacks believe in ghosts.Just go somewhere out of reach and say some creepy ghost shit. If that doesn't work, start to drop shit on them from unseen places while crow-screaming ghost shit. Repeat as necessary. You'll eventually clear out entire neighbourhoods.
>>4889808>Cassie accidentally gives a Buffalo morphing powers>is already refusing to kill it despite the fact that it saw her morph and the yerks could turn it into a controller and have another morphing power under their beltI'm already exhausted and worst of all the annoying shrink ray aliens who make the dead their captains get a mention againThat and the starfish book are the only two I've ever found myself skipping paragraphs
>>4889823>quoth the raven "BANNED FROM LIQUOR STORE"
>try to download the books from Archive.org>Some l33t h4x04 glowies are attacking them so no downloads
>>4880524>most suited for harassing minoritiesany bug, but youd get killed like 5 seconds in
>>4890962I teared up over the Buffalo bros...He didn't deserve to go out like that and I was hoping somehow it would get to stay alive This part broke meThe ending to this book is super jarring it tone it feels like the ghost writer got reprimanded. Something along the lines of, "hey this book is great but can you make it light hearted at the end there are kids reading this."I get it the dolphin morph makes you happier. Maybe everyone was just trying to help Cassie feel better?Maybe I'm coping with excuses and my first theory is most correct lolThis makes me wonder what would happen if a higher intelligence animal like an Octopus got morphing powersWould they be able to learn human speech? Could they utilize the human brain to a greater capacity than we can?Animorphs is so fun with all the room for imagination and sometimes it answers that pondering in ways you don't expect I remember hearing that they tried to do a comic adaption of the series that canceled in just a couple of volumes and that honestly seems like such a retarded idea These books would not fly being marketed to kids these daysThe violence is too much, even though I think it's ridiculous that childrens media has to be so sanitized with those same kids are all given unlimited internet access anyway Tbh I don't even feel like I'm reading kids books during most of my time with animorphs, but rather books with kids as the main characters which isn't that unusual to me as someone who doesn't watch much live action I'm not some illiterate fuck (despite my phone posting, like right now) and I tend to be picky with all the media I consume but especially booksThat said I'm not a fan of /lit/ they're too pretentious over there>>4890999Nice tripsI downloaded mine from a reddit post that had links to it in different formatsJust Google "Animorphs PDF reddit"The later books do have a handful of typos but free is freeI'm gonna hunt for physical copies next time I go to the local used book chain
