charcoal evangelist edition

Discuss raising chickens, ducks, geese, quail and other livestock birds for any purpose.
Not relevant to pet birds.

>Fermenting feed
Fermenting your feed can reduce your feed costs and improve the health of your birds. Simply cover a days supply of feed with water, add any fermentation aids or feed additives, and let it sit somewhere warm overnight.

>Beneficial feed additives
Charcoal (not briquettes)
Greek yogurt
Apple cider vinegar
Red hot peppers

I really like that black chicken. Has the body shape of a game hen, but is fully dark black.
What kind is it?

Her mother was a black Australorp and her father was a Delaware, but she's still quite young in that picture. Now her and her sisters have the Australorp thickness even though they aren't laying yet. She's the only chick that turned out all black.

Ah, ok. I bet there's some Asian variety that looks like what I'm wanting.
I'd love to have either all black games or red and black games. I love their sleek builds, and game hens have wonderful temperaments from what I've experienced. The roosters get very annoying if you have more than one, but the hens are just lovely.

Look into black asils. Pic related. You might also be interested in Ayam Cemani chickens. I've never raised them, but I've heard that they have black eggs and black meat. I know individual, mature birds can be sold for thousands of dollars for slaughter, but I saw a hatchery listing for eggs that were under $10.

Here's a pic of the Ayam Cemani. They almost don't look real.

Every couple weeks we sell around 20 roosters and hens to a Mexican witch for 20 dollars each. They sacrifice the chicken and then eat it.

Based or cringe?

WTF are the origins of the Chorb? Where does she come from? How did she come to be? Where is she now?
>>
>>4909730
She's probably just a fat hen that's cold. My rooster can get pretty orb shaped in the winter.

They lay white eggs. I actually got a 'fibro easter egger' from a colored layer mix a few years back, pretty sure they're a cross between ayam cemani's and black americauna. Pic related is almost exactly how she grew out, she's entirely black but you can see she has a sort of ghost patterning when the sun shines on her.

Red hot peppers

Birds are immune to capsaicin, and peppers are very healthy to eat.

>>4909730
Shooped.
Original is much more like this >>4909754 but a bit more spherical.
