what do you do for work, are you financially and spiritually fulfilled

I'm a school bus driver and I have basically the best job on earth, my route just got shortened

so I will have 2 30 minute routes per day and get paid 4 hours total for them, in addition, since I am the most willing to do trips and sports at my company I get a charter or multiple basically every day, so almost every single week I get atleast 50 hours, averaging 55, and my max was 69 hours

being a school bus driver for a company that has a lot of work to go around is incredible, as a school bus driver 50% of your time is downtime at sporting events or field trips so I play my steam deck

I am incredibly fulfilled and love my life, I often have a few hours at lunch to go to the gym and I get to the gym atleast 3 times a week despite working 50+ hours, I literally don't think I could do anything else after this

I can get literally like 2 hours of sleep and still get up and perform my job easily, with caffeine

I live with my mom and she only wants 150 a month, and I'm on track to make like 35k after tax this year, live in a semi rural area so I'll buy a home for like 70-80k in like 10 years

spent my entire 20s neeting, and at 32 with a year and a half into this job my future is so bright I need to wear shades, I tell literally everyone I know that I found my calling in life

>I get atleast 50 hours, averaging 55, and my max was 69 hours

cucked attitude, you should never be grateful for waging more, you should only be grateful if you get paid the same amount for waging fewer hours than normal.

If it works for you that's good I guess, but that many hours sounds like a lot. Then again, if you have significant downtime I guess that's good. When you're going to the gym at lunch is that technically "on the clock"? Otherwise I don't see how you're getting 50+ hours per week.

Anyway anon, I operate public rail transit. It pays barely over 20 per hour, but it's 4 10-hr days per week with 3 days off in a row, so that's nice. I rent my own apartment cause my parents annoy me so I spend nearly all of my income on living expenses. It's okay I guess

Apprentice electrician in rail at the moment. It's okay but I definitely wake up every day and feel like I'm going to *work*. I used to drive passenger trains for a living which was probably the best job I ever had. Even though I worked 6 days a week usually because I'd try and snag as much OT as possible, going to work didn't feel tedious in the slightest and I actually kinda looked forward to getting back into it after a couple of days off.

With that said I'll get paid a lot better as a sparky once I'm qualified so I guess I've just traded some enjoyment and spiritual fulfillment for a bit more progress and financial security. I kinda wish I didn't care as much as I do about money though, probably would never have left my previous gig if that were the case.

Unfortunately I was a developer and was layed off. The lady that was assigned to me to prevent me from becoming a neet told me that I cannot get into another business. It would be a waste of my experience. This means I have to work in an office until my retirement.

Rural mail carrier, you get paid the same amount for the route no matter how long it takes you. I'm usually done around 2, and get paid until 430. Drive around listening to what I want to, no boss around, pretty much unfireable (don't steal and don't have your vehicle roll away while you're out of it.) Clearing 80k with OT this year, but I get OT while actually working 30 something hours a week. Downsides are bad weather, and I have to maintain my own vehicle, but those can be kind of fun depending on your disposition. It also takes a while to get a good route, it's all seniority and location based, have to game it for a while to set yourself up right.

Union Electrician in europooristan. 35k to 40k after taxes. Live in fully paid gf condo, save every penny, neeted ten years here before I got a job again this summer. Started with 30k networth, pumped every last penny into an etf, now six months later I have 45k and another 5k in cash (christmas and holiday gratification). In one year I reckon on having 80k, will probably stop at 120k, because that nets me my part on our property in passive income, but time will tell. I do paid overtime and work 45 hours a week. My impatience is killing me, beside that I am well off and had enorm luck in life. Yes I understand but you aren't explaining properly. When you're at the gym during lunch, are you on the clock? Are you getting paid for that?

If not it sounds like you're just away from home/at work all the time.

Clocking out at 10am when you're done taking the kids to school and not clocking back in til 130 or 2pm and working like barely 4 or 5 hours a day but then taking overtime days where you're working like 15 hours straight just sounds awful. Please explain your schedule better.

I looked into being a school bus driver here but I didn't go through with it precisely because of this. Yeah they get a little over 20 an hour here, I think sometimes close to 30, but they're really only working like 4 or 5 hours a day, maybe 20-30 hours a week maximum. How are you even working more than that?

>Never ceases to amaze me how low the pay is for rail operators in the USA is even after currency conversion.

It's insane, most parts of the world, people who operate public transit, whether they are bus drivers or light rail/streetcar/subway operators make a little more than the average income of the country.

Even in the USA if you count subway operators and light rail operators in the mix, the average wage is something like 60-70k per year (granted in NYC or San Francisco that's still shitty). But here I am in the midwest driving a train through a city making $20/hr.

Hundreds of lives are in my hands every day but I basically get paid the same amount as someone driving a forklift in a warehouse, often less. Oh and yeah I can be randomly drug tested at any time for any reason so I can't even get high on my days off

>Also paying for an apartment is dumb, start leeching asap

I'm not hot enough to leach off a femanon and my parents are annoying. After graduating in college in 2013 I have had two separate stints of "moving back in with my parents". Once in 2015-2016 and once more in 2020-2021.

I couldn't take it. My parents are good people, not assholes, and they don't make me pay for anything if I live with them, and the house isn't tiny or run down, but I just can't stand it. They have two dogs that bark all the time and are annoying as fuck.

I don't get to control the thermostat if I live there. So in the summer I have to deal with the "a/c" set at 78F and of course it gets hotter upstairs where my room is, so it's fucking miserable.

And my parents are the overprotective type. I can't just leave the house at 10pm on my day off and go to the bar and get drinks with my friends and then hang out and come home around 2 or 3am like I would normally. My mom will be freaking out the whole time and stay up texting me practically crying and begging me not to get in an accident or overdose or something. I live a more nocturnal lifestyle and my parents can't stand that.

Like if I was living at home with my parents and I decided randomly to get in my car at 1130pm and drive to taco bell to get something they would freak the fuck out and be genuinely very concerned my well-being. I just cant deal with that kind of stress and oversight into my life. I'd rather spend half my income to rent an apartment and not deal with that

Apparently if you aren't a business owner making 4 million a year while working 5 hours a week(like so many on here ofc) you're just a clanker

I work for a company that serves every school in a 20 mile radius, we also have another branch in a metro an hour away and I also do trips for them

For instance today I had my morning and afternoon route, 1 hour of work paid 4 hours, no field trips today so I had 8am till 12 off, did my 30 minute route then I had varsity bball in the metro, so I drove out there, on the clock at 2 ended at 1130, so I got 13.5 hours today

Actual driving time like 5 hours

Considering it. Have to take the USMLE but would easily be worth it. Generally exploring abroad options.

Im currently not even working, took some time off for my baby and haven't even applied for a new post this run because I can barely see it being worth working those hours. It's fucked when even being a doctor is arguably not worth going into work for the money.

WFH, drug safety study stuff.
Pay is good. If I said what it was you'd probably say I was lying, so I won't say it.
The work is fairly hard (and people are difficult) but I don't work too too many hours.
I wouldn't say I'm spiritually fulfilled but I don't think my job is the primary impediment.

AHAHAHAHA just today as I was stretching waking up from a deeply restful sleep, I was praising how I never have to wake up to an alarm.

I manage a garden center. It's a family business that I'm in line to inherit soon. Have done this for about 5 years and expanded and improved things a lot from when my dad was operating it himself. It's starting to turn a decent profit.

Managing has been very stressful because I've been doing tasks at every level from the bottom to the top, but I've finally got good, experienced employees who work hard and I'm getting better at delegating, so I'm starting to remove myself from the day to day work so I can focus on the overall business.

The spring season is most important and it's like planning a big event. There's a lot of preparation starting in the previous fall to make sure everything goes right. Watching the plants disappear in the spring and the money roll in is incredibly rewarding. The summer, fall and winter are depressing and slow, and by summer I'm burnt out, so I'm getting my employees to handle that part of the year more and more.

Overall things are going well. I'm still limited a bit because my dad still owns the company. He's a complete boomer who doesn't even own a cell phone so it has been a constant battle trying to modernize things. I'm persistent though, and manage to wear him down. The changes I have made speak for themselves and he doesn't fight me much anymore. We've got an appointment with the lawyer coming up to talk about transferring the company so things are looking up.

I'm a 19 yo in community college and I have no future

I do software stuff for a mega corp. Its fine, gotten more stressful over the last 2 years or so but its mostly remote and I mostly like my co workers. I make around 80/hr counting bonus and stock, full bennys, 401k match. Investing around 100k of that, wife does another 50. We're probably to the point we could FIRE but it's not bad, we'd both rather make hay while the sun shines. Who knows what 10 years down the road will look like. It's not unreasonable that there's 75% less tech jobs because of AI, that'd be a big problem for the economy.

fulfilled? jobs aren't meant to be fulfilling, that's what a partner, kids, friends and hobbies are for. I certainly like my life, change it if you don't, everything is hard, might as well take the hard that keeps you fit and rich.

I am a drug dealer selling noids, delivering packages and collecting money all day. And when I finish with that I go fuck sluts or get coked out of my head. It's a chill life
