Hedgies borrow money in Japan because the interest rates are extremely low because Japanese banks have had the money printers on for the past 30 years.

Over time Japan ended up becoming the entire world’s source of cheap loans and now that’s ending. Now there is no source of cheap money in the world, and the global economy will probably crash within the next 3~4 months if we don’t immediately start WWIII or something.

it’s been going up since sp500 was under 3k and btc was under 10k.
>no u don’t understand! if it keeps going up something bad will happen!
and people have been saying that the whole entire time that it has been going up. and the s&p is up 2-3x and btc is up 10-15x during that time.

Aren’t you at least teeny bit concerned about the fact that these things have happened while the global economy has largely stagnated.

they’re going up because of the devaluation of fiat not because of economic growth.
>>
>>61435684
That would be true if the Yen actually started appreciating, but it barely has. They have an insane debt/GDP, a budget deficit and even though inflation is somewhat returning, growth not so much. Pretty much no one has faith in their economy still.

Usury was abolished when you could borrow money for free from Japan. The past 20 years was the result.
>>
>>61435622
Deflation as value/buying power returns to the Yen, and smart money moves from stocks into Treasuries.
>>
>>61436047
what does their yen appreciating have to do with anything, they are raising interest rates and will soon be in earshot's range of american rates since americans are lowering theirs
>>
>>61435622
Ignorance is bliss.
>>
>>61438367
Because the carry trade involves taking loans out in yen. If the yen appreciates, then it takes more $ to pay back the loan.
>>
>>61435622
Japan has been trying to manipulate their way to a good economy for the past 5 years.
It's not working.

You're an idiot, like everyone else in this thread. Japan's economy is about to grow. Their policy has been to balance things out, to not have a boom and bust. Now, OP's graph, shows they're looking to expand. It's absolutely mindboggling how you all can't do basic macroeconomics.

I don't follow. Sure you get a "free" loan, but that loan is in Japanese yen and the yen has been steadily losing value compared to other world currencies. So in the end you still lost value in your home currency?
>>
>>61438547
I hate this exchange rate bullshit psueds like to spit with Japan. The worst, and I mean absolute worst for most people in decades, there's been a change in 30 percent. That's pretty normal. No different than any of the other major currencies. The reason why your dollar goes further in Japan, is because they don't overcharge.
>>
>>61435976
suicides are bottom signal
>>
>>61438547
yes but at the start of the loan you buy things in other currencies(USD normally), so that while the yen is weakening, your assets are increasing AND the currency you bought with the yen is strengthening by comparison, making it so that when your loan comes due you get to keep all the gains.
>>
>>61438506
>Japan's economy is about to grow
It's just not. Pretty much none of their structural problems are fixed. Real wage, consumption nor productivity is growing much, and they still have a shrinking population. They just got lucky they started seeing some inflation due to Corona, which QE wasn't able to do to the extend they wanted. The reason bond yields are going up is because they are currently doing QT so they don't overshoot the inflation targets, that's it.
>>
>>61435715
Jesus Christ this is /biz/, not /v/.
How the FUCK is anyone going to lose 100k on a pump and dump if they can't take extortionate loans for it?

it basically only exists because japan's government wanted free GDP on paper to try and stave off the effects of them continuously doing zombie-firm shit. the economic hangover they're looking at when they finally have to face the music for doing this shit for actual decades is going to make their lost generation seem like a success story.

Why do Nazis think lending is evil? You voluntarily chose to accept the loan at the given interest rate.
>>
>>61440699
that's like saying "Why do nazis hate sex" when faced with OnlyFans culture. Usury isn't "lending" my fellow Jew, it's predatory by definition, it takes a functioning trust based society and whittles away at it by first abusing the low IQ class, which in turn raises crime, which in turn destroys what cultural trust existed before we come in with our ephemeral products. Look to all of our products, the media, porn industry, medical industry -- we're not forcing the goy to partake of any of these things, but as they are caged in symbolic systems from birth with this faux freedom wrapped around their neck like a cattle bell, they are to be blamed for the degeneration of their culture. I know I'm preaching to the choir and I probably shouldn't be saying any of this, shanda fur di goyim, but I'm not sure if you're being earnest or just twisting our ideologies to further the confusion of those we feed upon
